  • For those saying this is expensive: yes, it is. You can make it less expensive up front by having less variety. (I know, that kinda sucks.) All the variety here means you have to buy multiple kinds of fresh and frozen fruit, nuts, etc. and only use them for a couple of meals each. Then the leftovers are more likely to go bad before you can use them. If you buy only a couple varieties of fruit, nuts, veg, etc, your food may be a bit more boring but it will still be healthy and your grocery bill will be smaller. Try to buy grocery items that you can use in many different ways and use up the whole package.
    Another way to make this cheaper is to not buy pre-cut or bagged fruit and veggies. Buy it whole and take the time to cut it yourself.
    Use the same principle of eating clean, unprocessed foods and controlling portion sizes, but find some that are cheaper in your area. Proteins that are usually cheaper than fish and nuts: eggs, canned tuna, ground meats, white meat, tofu, beans (buy dried and soak them to save even more money).
    You can also save by buying frozen fish, chicken, fruit, and veggies. You can eat healthy on a budget, you just may have to make some tweaks to suit you.

  • Cooking rice without an instant pot is not a problem, no matter how much you make. As a rule, I usually just fill enough water to fill the whole pot. There’s no real need to measure the water, because you can use a sieve and drain it afterward. (Unlike with an instant pot.)

    Brilliant video btw. Do you have more like this? Especially things that are easy and quick to make, but can be made in bulk and frozen. (I’m surprisingly good at cooking, mainly thanks to Cooking for Geeks, which approaches it scientifically, but I also absolutely hate cooking. Ever. But it is by far both healthier and cheaper than the alternatives.)

  • Good on you for this but it’s not really healthy to be honest �� Lots of carbs and not enough vegetables. If there were more vege I would agree but it’s mainly carbs and sugar forming foods that feed bad gut bugs. Trust me, I’ve learnt a lot about food and most of the ingredients feed bad gut bugs. If you want to feed the good gut bugs add way more vege. Like 80% of the meal should be vege

  • Well if you go to Romania you can cheat a little, on the Netherlands it will probably be more expensive. Also Portugal is another pretty cheap one.

  • Keto diet is simple…. Eat like you live on a farm with fresh veggies, poultry, beef, pork etc.

  • I know this is an old video but everything is so inexpensive to buy. I live in the us and currency exchange rate is pretty even but she was buying stuff for such a low price and here everything would be at least a dollar at Walmart (one of the cheapest grocery stores)

  • To the Chana Dal, to enhance the flavour, after you add the powdered spices to the onions, let it cook till it releases oil itself, that’s when you know it’s cooked through. love xx

  • You are quite lucky, Holland is one of the cheapest countries in Europe when I have the opportunity to travel there I was in shock it’s 4-time cheaper then Filnad and I’m from Poland and some of the stuff that in shops where much cheaper then in Poland even if you count in Polish zloty and we are earning 4 timeless they Dutch people:D

  • Love your shopping and meal planning way of doing things. I create my shopping list based on the area of the store as well. Saves a lot of backtracking throughout the store. Meal planning keeps me on budget and keeps those quick stops at a drive thru to a rare occasion for me. Love!!!

It’s a meal planning app. I have been using it for several years now and it really has saved me a lot of time and money. Getting started takes some time because you import all of your favorite recipes from various websites but once you do that its great. You can build a menu for a week, add recipes to eat day, then sync your meal plan to your shopping list. It makes up a shopping list organized into categories, dairy, frozen etc. I usually just go through my freezer and cabinets to see what I have on hand for that’s week list and check them off before I leave for the store.

  • We just vacuum seal our meals in Mason Jars and they stay good for 2 weeks to a month in the fridge so I don’t really have to do this every week. I have a meal plan for once a month that I do and a small inventory list for our meats that are Vaccum sealed and freezed (I do this about 2-3 times a year) as well as an inventory for some other things like Baking Soda, oils, etc. I set aside one day out of the month to prep/Cook our meals and they’re all ready to be warmed up whenever we’re hungry. We also don’t eat scheduled meals (only when we’re hungry) so no need for me to have a “menu”. I just pick what looks good to eat in that Mason Jar

    What I do is shred it and throw it in a salad and gives the salad a natural salty taste so you do not have to add dressing.

    You can do that with cauliflower as well.

    2. Pasta salad: Fill the container with half pasta salad and the other half steamed broccoli: pan fry the tofu (sautée it with oil don’t deep fry it)
    3. Chicken and mashed potatoes: Instead of mashed potatoes do roasted red potatoes with salt and pepper and roasted zucchini, asparagus, or any other veggie of your choice!

  • Instead of buying kcups, which is expensive and don’t biodegrade in landfills, get a reusable coffee pod. Then you can buy coffee grounds or freshly grind your own beans. Cheaper, environmentally friendly, better coffee at home. The work is worth it. Husband is pushing me to just get kcups but I cant handle the price and the kcups in the trash, my mom uses her used kcups for growing seedlings and the used grounds for her compost but I’m not a gardener.

  • For those saying this is expensive: yes, it is. You can make it less expensive up front by having less variety. (I know, that kinda sucks.) All the variety here means you have to buy multiple kinds of fresh and frozen fruit, nuts, etc. and only use them for a couple of meals each. Then the leftovers are more likely to go bad before you can use them. If you buy only a couple varieties of fruit, nuts, veg, etc, your food may be a bit more boring but it will still be healthy and your grocery bill will be smaller. Try to buy grocery items that you can use in many different ways and use up the whole package.
    Another way to make this cheaper is to not buy pre-cut or bagged fruit and veggies. Buy it whole and take the time to cut it yourself.
    Use the same principle of eating clean, unprocessed foods and controlling portion sizes, but find some that are cheaper in your area. Proteins that are usually cheaper than fish and nuts: eggs, canned tuna, ground meats, white meat, tofu, beans (buy dried and soak them to save even more money).
    You can also save by buying frozen fish, chicken, fruit, and veggies. You can eat healthy on a budget, you just may have to make some tweaks to suit you.

  • Cooking rice without an instant pot is not a problem, no matter how much you make. As a rule, I usually just fill enough water to fill the whole pot. There’s no real need to measure the water, because you can use a sieve and drain it afterward. (Unlike with an instant pot.)

    Brilliant video btw. Do you have more like this? Especially things that are easy and quick to make, but can be made in bulk and frozen. (I’m surprisingly good at cooking, mainly thanks to Cooking for Geeks, which approaches it scientifically, but I also absolutely hate cooking. Ever. But it is by far both healthier and cheaper than the alternatives.)

  • Good on you for this but it’s not really healthy to be honest �� Lots of carbs and not enough vegetables. If there were more vege I would agree but it’s mainly carbs and sugar forming foods that feed bad gut bugs. Trust me, I’ve learnt a lot about food and most of the ingredients feed bad gut bugs. If you want to feed the good gut bugs add way more vege. Like 80% of the meal should be vege

  • I am literally crying from excitement from this video. I try hard 2 b a good mom. But I have 7 auto immune diseases, I’m always exhausted and in pain. I don’t know the 1st thing about cooking, as I went from foster care homes wit abusers of every kind to living on the streets train and rooftops cars etc then at 12 i went into a group home got more abuse then back on streets at 14 till 18 then I got on welfare n was able to go to a homeless shelter moving from place to place. Non cooking facilities. Jus microwave stuff. Never learned proper etiquette, hygiene, normal stuff like routines, washing clothes etc. I finally got my home 2 years ago. I’m 35 I am so scared of messing up I have no clue how to do normal stuff. But I learned about utube but many cook stuff is complex with too many steps and stuff. My 8 year old is diabetic also, so I cant do microwave salty and sugar stuff. I wish there was some help to tech adults normal stuff. But this helped me soooooo much im so happy 4 ur help.   • I looked a lot for something like this… most of the stuff that i find on youtube is “easy quick” meals that have ingredients that i didn’t even know that existed.
    I recently decided to switch from crappy sad sandwitches (after about 6 months) to an actual meal for work, and I’m really struggling with ideas. So thanks for keeping me fed. Some of the stuff you’re making looks kind of intimidating to make, but no matter how bad i mess up, it can’t be worst than a sandwich.
    I subscribed and I’ll start scanning the channel for more ideas.

  • Here’s a little tip to save your knives. If you have to use it to slide chopped food off the chopping board turn the knife around and use the blunt end.

    Love the washable glass containers, so healthy as opposed to aluminium or plastic.

    If this only takes two hours imagine how much quicker a food processor would reduce the time by.

  • The problem with the nut butter pouches is that they aren’t recyclable! The cheapest nut butter solution I’ve found is the make your own nut butter stations available at most natural food stores. The ones near me also allow you to bring your own jar, further reducing the amount of waste! I just keep a few spare glass peanut butter jars on hand to refill.

  • My current favorite way to cook broccoli is a splash of water, little bit of butter, sprinkle of salt and poultry seasoning. Toss broccoli. Over glass bowl with plastic wrap and and zap for 5 minutes. Punction some holes and drain water. Toss again. Done.

  • I really like your channel but really wish you would look more at what licensed professionals have been saying about the keto diet for years. The keto diet was rated one of the worst fad diets to come out in recent years, it’s long term effects are not well studied, and it’s overall not sustainable vs a healthy, balanced diet. It’s one of my biggest gripes with your channel and why sometimes I feel like I can’t trust your diet and health advice.

  • love the idea but would like it to be digital so I can look at it on my phone, computer, tablet and so on. Food is honestly a nightmare in my house… We end up ordering in most of the time since im not that good at cooking and my boyfriend doesn’t know what to do to help me in the kitchen. We also have a small kitchen and cooking anything in there is a hassle and not enjoyable in the least. I want to reduce my waste from ordering food and also eat more healthily. It so difficult to do and takes time. I tried doing a journal for my personal things but I cant seem to find the time to do that either. There aren’t enough hours in the day!!!

  • For the chilli, I think you should cook off your spice and tomato paste before, rather than just adding to liquid, like how they did for the chana dahl. You should also season throughout. This recipe wont get a full deep flavour if cooked like that. But really nice idea:)
