  • I’m puzzled by one fact you say that we should stay away from Cashew nuts but in other videos you say that we should strive to eat foods with low Glycemic Load Cashew has a Clycemic load of only 3 which is very low. Would you care to elaborate on why we should not eat Cashew nuts, when it’s Clycemic Load is only 3?

  • Wrong. The type of fat matters. Some of the nuts you are recommending are too high in omega 6 and anti-nutrients that interfere with the absorption of other nutrients. Macadamia nuts have the best lipid profile. Do some research before you give dietary advice!

Just started to watch ALL of your videos as I’ve been navigating between Whole30 and Keto (these two has become my new nutritional mantra) and ended up in this topic. It’s interesting how on Whole30 they suggest to limit Walnuts consumption and put Cashews as the best choices. I understand Keto encourages to decrease carbs and increase fat consumption. However, it is also important to remember that PUFAs (omega3 -omega-6) balance is important to avoid inflammation and other conditions. Whether people consume Cashews and want to switch to the top5 nuts listed here, it’s relevant to understand the main nutritional contribution of the nuts. I’m even tempted to start buying pecans/brazil nuts again! And for what I learnt, peanuts are legumes which may not be a great source of food. Thank you for your vids!

  • Probably Brazil Nuts because when you weigh in the carb vs. fat grams but Brazil not also has a high value as far as maintaining a healthy functioning thyroid for both men and women. Most men don’t think about thyroid but especially on a keto diet you need to make sure your keeping everything regulated and for women who are more prone to thyroid issue this would be a preferable but for keto from some studies and video references I see

  • I made this this AM instead of your other “semolina” pudding. I couldn’t find my shredded coconut, so I subbed 1 tbs coconut flour for the 6 tbs shredded. It came out so creamy and good! My husband and I split the recipe between us. I added a few berries and a tsp of butter to each bowl. My husband’s first day of keto off to a great start, we both loved it.

  • Why not just use Mission’s “Carb Balance” tortillas? Flour = 4 net carbs, Spinach Herb = 3 net carbs, Wheat = 3 net carbs, Sundried Tomato = 5 net carbs. They taste exactly the same as the regular tortillas.

  • Totally absurd. I don’t see why one would cut out carbs that our body needs. Girls that are developing need carbs for steady hormones, and a low carb high fat diet has too much fat which isn’t good for the heart. How can you eat that many sunflower seeds in one sitting? It’s insane and it’s overly doing the whole high fat low carb thing. Too much fat can be dangerous for cardiovascular health. Just saying. This diet would also be low in fibre.

  • I had this recent craze about pecans( I do consume around a cup a day) ��, yet it makes me feel much more full than any other foods.

  • I made these last night and put them in fridge to have today. I made them straight to Joe’s recipe, no alterations. What can I say but WOW! These really are outstanding tortillas and they even taste a little bit like corn tortillas. This recipe really makes taco-sized tortillas and I made four because I used a tortilla press (totally worth the $50). I made two ground beef tacos with avocado, red bell pepper and some cheddar cheese. Really filled me up for a lunch and the ingredient list is short, sweet and simple. Highly recommended. Next time I’ll be adding some spices or something to them and see how that goes.

  • Such a great recipe!
    I prefer to soak the seeds for 24h, discard the water and blend them with the milk prior to boiling.
    This way most of the phytic acid in the seeds will be broken down.

  • I use a tortilla press when doing this & trust me, it’s such a time saver! I highly recommend if anyone makes these regularly, do urslef a favor & a 10″ cast iron Tortilla Press… I bought mine from Amazon & I’m so thrilled with it. Couldn’t do without it!

I added swerve brown sugar as sweetener.. 1 tablespoon 1/4 tsp vanilla extract I cooked mine on the stove and used macadamia nut milk… just to finish it off just a drizzle of choc zero maple pecan syrup..   • Keto porridge to me is the closest thing that can be made to mimic the craving for a high carb food like porridge. There’s a far easier one and maybe even a bit better than this, Aldi has a milled Flax, Chia and Hemp hearts seed mix (Alesto brand). Just add desiccated coconut, about 15g to 50g of the seed mix, cream or Almond milk and you get a nice thick porridge without the need for the Almond flour. I have it about three times a week alternating between egg breakfasts, great for getting the colon moving on a low carb diet.

  • Just read that 2 oz of walnuts in a study suppressed breast cancer tumors in a short time of women who were having biopsies. Pretty crazy. Nuts really do some to have some really great qualities.

  • I’ve been having this most mornings and have had fun changing things up here and there. Today I realized that if you use hemp seeds/hearts and add in coconut flakes (and even things like pumpkin seeds or medium chopped nuts) you gat a lovely oatmeal texture. Sometimes I find texture in food can help curve a craving and adding those elements helps this feel like real oatmeal which is perfect ^_^
