  • I’m puzzled by one fact you say that we should stay away from Cashew nuts but in other videos you say that we should strive to eat foods with low Glycemic Load Cashew has a Clycemic load of only 3 which is very low. Would you care to elaborate on why we should not eat Cashew nuts, when it’s Clycemic Load is only 3?

  • Pedra your talent goes unmatched. You are by far the best! Thanks again for another great recipe and of course Tanner’s review. I love it.

  • I’ve been doing Keto since April 1st, 2020. I lost 30 pounds so far! But now I’m switching to 100% vegan Keto. I will try this recipe thanks!!

  • Wrong. The type of fat matters. Some of the nuts you are recommending are too high in omega 6 and anti-nutrients that interfere with the absorption of other nutrients. Macadamia nuts have the best lipid profile. Do some research before you give dietary advice!

  • Made this today and, in spite of the fact that I don’t care for flaxseed texture, it was quite tasty. Is there anything other than flax or chia seeds that would thicken it up? TFS!

  • Dear Petra, thanks for this recipe. I wonder, as I understand you have several children, if you would share with us recipes ideas that they like? Many thanks dar Petra. Best. Marianne

  • I made these for me and my friend and she said they were as good as the keto tortillas she bought at a keto bakery here in Mexico City and they are a whole lot cheaper!
I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to share!

  • Wow Dr Berg, for the last week my weight increased and then I looked at what was elevating my blood glucose… the nuts! I’ve now stopped picking at nuts after dinner and now if I do eat nuts I measure the amount I eat. This is a really valuable video. Thank you.

  • Try using a tortilla press, they’re like 10 dollars at your local hispanic market.
Or maybe even walmart, you’ll get perfectly round tortillas.

  • Very interesting video Dr. Berg! Thanks. Just started to watch ALL of your videos as I’ve been navigating between Whole30 and Keto (these two has become my new nutritional mantra) and ended up in this topic. It’s interesting how on Whole30 they suggest to limit Walnuts consumption and put Cashews as the best choices. I understand Keto encourages to decrease carbs and increase fat consumption. However, it is also important to remember that PUFAs (omega3 -omega-6) balance is important to avoid inflammation and other conditions. Whether people consume Cashews and want to switch to the top5 nuts listed here, it’s relevant to understand the main nutritional contribution of the nuts. I’m even tempted to start buying pecans/brazil nuts again! And for what I learnt, peanuts are legumes which may not be a great source of food. Thank you for your vids!

  • Oatmeal is like the one thing i truly miss since going keto. I need to add flax seeds and chia seeds to my grocery list, bite the bullet and actually buy them and make this deliciousness! (lol I”m pretty sure I’ve said that as I write every grocery list since seeing your previous keto oatmeal video, but I’m serious this time!).

  • Wow, I was on a very bad mood few minutes ago, but this video is so I don’t know how to say it, calm or relaxing. I am done and also hungry

  • Joe Duff you are a genius! I have tried countless recipes and they have flopped! We cannot eat dairy so there is no miracle dough for us until now! I made a double batch and all of them were awesome. You have breathed hope into my keto family. We had steak soft tacos for the first time in 3.5 years. Thank you!!!

  • Im not vegan or vegetarian but trying to go for a more dairy free lifestyle. Do you have any good Keto Vegan cheese and coffee creamer recipes?

  • WT*? Your not gonna eat a whole cup. That sentence made me feel something… why not? Im like am i the only one that does it? Should i be concerned about it? Now i jave to google to see if eating nore yhan a cup of nuts per day is bad or something…

  • Probably Brazil Nuts because when you weigh in the carb vs. fat grams but Brazil not also has a high value as far as maintaining a healthy functioning thyroid for both men and women. Most men don’t think about thyroid but especially on a keto diet you need to make sure your keeping everything regulated and for women who are more prone to thyroid issue this would be a preferable but for keto from some studies and video references I see

  • I made this this AM instead of your other “semolina” pudding. I couldn’t find my shredded coconut, so I subbed 1 tbs coconut flour for the 6 tbs shredded. It came out so creamy and good! My husband and I split the recipe between us. I added a few berries and a tsp of butter to each bowl. My husband’s first day of keto off to a great start, we both loved it.

  • Why not just use Mission’s “Carb Balance” tortillas? Flour = 4 net carbs, Spinach Herb = 3 net carbs, Wheat = 3 net carbs, Sundried Tomato = 5 net carbs. They taste exactly the same as the regular tortillas.

  • I made these the other day and added some extra seasonings and just tried it with some taco meat and smeared some jalapeno cream cheese on them…soooooooo good. This will be my GoTo recipe thank you!! Phoebe from Lakeside AZ

  • Joe: “Add Zantham Gum”

Me: “Dang it, I don’t have any”

Joe: “You could also use Psyllium Husk”

Me: “Finally, that random shit I bought at GNC 2 years ago serves a purpose”

  • Hello I realy like your NutritionRefined youtube channel, can you put a link below your videos so as people can make donations to you, I will not be able to make a regular donation but I would like to make a one of donation in my will.  It’s great that you are encouraging people to eat healthy food.

  • Awesome! Fighting Candida and I had to give up my morning Quinoa flakes hot meal because it was feeing the yeast. Will try this for sure! Thanks

  • Guys Psyllium Husk DOES NOT WORK, i tried it even with 3x the amount and they just broke apart, BUT they ended making some sweet tortillas chips so i REPEAT DO NOT USE PSYLLIUM HUSK IF YOU WANT TORTILLAS FOR TACOS but by all means use them for some amazing tortillas chips they legit make it so good i just ate some with tuna

  • These look like the best keto tortillas I’ve seen. I can’t wait to try them. How are you gonna measure water in grams?! C’mon man that’s a dry measurement

  • Thank you for that list… I just have one question… what’s the amount of nuts that you are basing you are breakdown on…… 1 nut or a cup of nuts or what?

  • I know this is super late but I just came across and saw your channel. I tried the porridge and I absolutely enjoyed it! Thanks for the video!

  • Has anyone tried refrigerating or freezing these after flattening? I’m curious if I can make a double batch ahead of time and just cook as needed. You know, like the Tortilla Land ones from Costco?

  • I’ve been on keto for over 3 years and I haven’t had Mexican food in this whole time. I’m planning on doing this in the next week or so.

  • I love oats but for some reason they make me SOOOO sleepy after I eat them, no matter how little. I’m also on keto, I’m willing to give it a try sometime soon. Fingers crossed.

  • did you know heating a non stick pan is one of the things the instructions on the pan tell you not to do when that non stick coating heat up with nothing in the pan it forms a poisonous gas

  • If you want them to taste kind of like corn homemade tortillas try adding a little bit of edible lime (Cal comestible in spanish also known as Calcium Hydroxide) to the mix.

  • Graciasss!!!! La verdad que con ingredientes super sencillos y fácil de conseguir, me ayuda a sacarme el antojo!!! Saludos desde Argentina

  • I love your recipes and energy.
Which brand do you recommend for an extra fine flaxseed flour that looks as fine as you ground it?

  • The biggest problem that I find with Brazil nuts is that the mold toxins are very high, it’s really hard to find clean Brazil nuts.

  • I did not expect this to come even close to the taste/texture of Creme of Wheat or oatmeal, but it did, especially after I added a dollop of peanut butter and some Swerve. Thanks for a great recipe.

  • Totally absurd. I don’t see why one would cut out carbs that our body needs. Girls that are developing need carbs for steady hormones, and a low carb high fat diet has too much fat which isn’t good for the heart. How can you eat that many sunflower seeds in one sitting? It’s insane and it’s overly doing the whole high fat low carb thing. Too much fat can be dangerous for cardiovascular health. Just saying. This diet would also be low in fibre.

  • Thank you so much for this recipe!! They tasted amazing! And so easy to make. Now I can have tacos with my family, without feeling left out.

  • My dumb ass thought it was 8 tbsp xantham gum and I did it anyways it was so sticky and I rewatch the video please put your recipes in caption box I made a mess in my kitchen

  • I had this recent craze about pecans( I do consume around a cup a day) , yet it makes me feel much more full than any other foods.

  • I made these last night and put them in fridge to have today. I made them straight to Joe’s recipe, no alterations. What can I say but WOW! These really are outstanding tortillas and they even taste a little bit like corn tortillas. This recipe really makes taco-sized tortillas and I made four because I used a tortilla press (totally worth the $50). I made two ground beef tacos with avocado, red bell pepper and some cheddar cheese. Really filled me up for a lunch and the ingredient list is short, sweet and simple. Highly recommended. Next time I’ll be adding some spices or something to them and see how that goes.

  • I live in West Africa where they grow cashews and peanuts. All the others are imported and really expensive. I do but almonds because he mentions them a lot in other videos but I’ll switch to walnuts which are a little cheaper.

  • Such a great recipe!
I prefer to soak the seeds for 24h, discard the water and blend them with the milk prior to boiling.
This way most of the phytic acid in the seeds will be broken down.

  • I use a tortilla press when doing this & trust me, it’s such a time saver! I highly recommend if anyone makes these regularly, do urslef a favor & a 10″ cast iron Tortilla Press… I bought mine from Amazon & I’m so thrilled with it. Couldn’t do without it!

  • After some questionable(!) scientific research, I found Almonds to the healthiest, with walnuts in 3rd place. I stand by my findings, see my channel for the details. I don’t want to argue with the Doctor, but he’s a little off.

  • I indulged in regular full carb oatmeal this morning and then felt guilty. I worked out longer and just felt blah all day. Then, I went searching for an alternative and found this. I can’t wait to try it.

  • This video claims that nuts are very risky for your arteries. Let us know What you think docter Berg. https://youtu.be/zkC0-sXruM8

  • I tried this recipe from another channel and they used coconut flour and psyllium husk and it dried out my porridge making it too thick like dough ugh!:( I’m so happy u made this!

  • You should do arina de maíz cuba style, something different that Americans are not used to eat, but the flavor is good. Like your videos.

  • If I use coconut flour instead of shredded coconut, how much would you recommend as I have a big bag of coconut flour to use up?

  • You are a life saver. I used the leftovers from the hazelnut milk that I make, I didn’t know what to do with them. For my version I used only flax and that, and it’s good. For flavour I added cinnamon and honey.

  • Thank you for this recipe! Appreciate the measurements by weight. Just finished dinner. Very happy to report my wife and kids loved them. Thanks again.

  • Thank you for doing these recipes. I’ve been wanting oatmeal for breakfast and am so excited to try this out. Keep up the inspiring videos!!

  • Can I substitute the almond flour to other flour? You did say to use other seeds instead, is that means to grind the seeds as flour? Thanks

  • Are the Pistachios really high in omega 6s (inflammation)? I have compared their omega 3s vs omega 6s and it doesn’t look good. I hope i am wrong here. Great video. Thanks

  • I make something very similar except I make it more like overnight oats and it’s so good but I’m going to definitely try it this way! Looks so good!

  • Thank you for this videoI would like specific information about the fat in nutsIt’s well known that peanuts are very high in omega-6 fatsthat walnuts contain good amounts of omega-3coconut has saturated fat. I was hoping you could specify the types of fat that exist in Pecans. The term high in fat is not specific enough. Thanks

  • Thank you Sammy, this recipe was delicious, I made it this morning, have missed oatmeal being on keto. Had mine with a few blueberries

  • Great! Thank you for the idea. I usually make it with a lot of nuts and seeds but leaving them chunkier. Do yoi have a granola recepy as well?

  • New sub here. Love love love this channel! I will try this and also add dried herbs and garlic powder to the dough for more taste. My problem will be not eating all 5 tacos. How will they hold up refrigerated for a day or 2?

  • Psyllium Husk? or Psyllium Husk Powder? The powder would have to be less than 3x as much….jus’ sayin’! But it seems like the psylllium husk powder would work batter than the straight psyllium husk. Thanks for a cool recipe! I wish I could get away with xanthan or guar gum… sets off IBS in some of us.

  • I tried it this morning, it was so good, best keto porridge i have tried till now, will try the choco banana one tomorrow. Cant wait.

  • Omg thank you for this video! I’ve been looking for other breakfast options and I miss oatmeal lol. I missed apples & cinnamon oatmeal lol

  • Dr Berg, what is a “cup”? Means nothing to the billions of people outside USA. You use grams, which is a metric measure, could you think of all your viewers outside of the USA and translate cup into metric equivalent when you use it?

  • You are an answer to my prayers! Thank you! I can now eat plant based/ketoi-ish, thanks to you. You have WONDERFUL recipies that I can’t wait to try. Blessings to you!

  • I just found your channel and LOVE everything about it but the guy reviewing is just not necessary. I feel bad to say that but it’s true. It kinda diminishes the high-quality production and makes it a little cheesy. I think you should just describe the flavors yourself and keep it simple. I’ll be trying some of your recipes this week:)

  • I know I’ve tried a noatmeal recipe before. I didn’t like it. I am wondering if this is different or my boys would like. They are morning oats people and I keep at trying transition them

  • Wonderful and tasty! I added swerve brown sugar as sweetener.. 1 tablespoon 1/4 tsp vanilla extract I cooked mine on the stove and used macadamia nut milk… just to finish it off just a drizzle of choc zero maple pecan syrup.. I ate half and saving the other half for tomorrow… thank you so much for sharing

  • Keto porridge to me is the closest thing that can be made to mimic the craving for a high carb food like porridge. There’s a far easier one and maybe even a bit better than this, Aldi has a milled Flax, Chia and Hemp hearts seed mix (Alesto brand). Just add desiccated coconut, about 15g to 50g of the seed mix, cream or Almond milk and you get a nice thick porridge without the need for the Almond flour. I have it about three times a week alternating between egg breakfasts, great for getting the colon moving on a low carb diet.

  • Thank you for this. Had all the ingredients and whipped it up great alternative to oats. You’ve given me a new breakfast routine, thank you!

  • Just read that 2 oz of walnuts in a study suppressed breast cancer tumors in a short time of women who were having biopsies. Pretty crazy. Nuts really do some to have some really great qualities.

  • I’ve been having this most mornings and have had fun changing things up here and there. Today I realized that if you use hemp seeds/hearts and add in coconut flakes (and even things like pumpkin seeds or medium chopped nuts) you gat a lovely oatmeal texture. Sometimes I find texture in food can help curve a craving and adding those elements helps this feel like real oatmeal which is perfect ^_^

  • Amazing recipe. Ate them with bbq chicken and veggies (tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, mushrooms). End up with amazing blood glucose reading

  • Hey Salty Crew! Thanks for watching do you like short and sweet recipe videos like this? I’m thinking of doing more vids like this in the future. What are your thoughts?

  • I don’t think you need that much xanthan gum. probably about 4g should be enough. there isnt enough water to hydrate it completely

  • Thank you! I also do something similar! I do 2TBS each of Hemp, Flax and Chia seeds with cinnamon, sea salt almond milk and a splash of maple syrup! Thanks!!

  • Wow.. I’m not a crazy fan of oatmeal anymore since before I started keto, but these are soooo worth trying… all 3 look delish! Thank you Sammy!

  • Ok, I love cooking but have never looked into this. Why do all recipes add vanilla at the end of a recipe!? ‍♀️.
And hahaha vegan curious‍♀️. Too funny!!

    Totally gonna try this!
