“The immediate response for people when they overeat is that they feel tired and sluggish,” says Gans. “It takes work to digest a meal, and, if you’re eating a lot of food — especially high-fat foods — that takes a lot of energy for your body to digest.” Next, you’ll get that uncomfortable bloated feeling. Plenty of research has looked at the long-term health effects of overeating calories – which include increased fat storage, impaired endocrine (hormone) control and changes to our skeletal muscle and fat tissue. The insulin levels in the body go up after overeating so that they can get rid of all the sugar in your bloodstream, and high insulin levels are associated with higher levels of. 1. Your stomach swells.

When you overeat, the belly expands like a balloon to accommodate the food you ingest. Your distended stomach pushes against other organs in your body — which is why you may feel the need to loosen your pants. So, what happens to your body when you overeat?

Overeating causes the stomach to expand beyond its normal size to adjust to the large amount of food. The expanded stomach pushes against other organs, making you uncomfortable. This discomfort can take the form of feeling tired, sluggish or drowsy. That pathway essentially “asks” your brain if your body is full and satiated. Within 20 minutes, the brain signals and lets you know that you’re full.

But if you overeat, “you risk this. When you make a habit of overeating, you are transforming the way your body responds to the feeling of fullness, which in turn can have some serious effects on your wellbeing, including: becoming addicted to food, changing your body clock, lowering your body’s pleasure receptors, and losing the ability to recognize when you’re full. This can make us feel hot and sweaty and even occasionally dizzy. If we continually overeat we can stretch our stomach walls which means that it.

Overeating can lead to feelings of excessive fullness, bloating, reflux, indigestion and nausea. “It takes your brain 20 minutes to register satiety and fullness,” explains Kalamar.   • When i overeat i usually get gas, sulfur burbs, eventually vomit and diarrhea, ending in vomiting clear mucus, dry heaves until im empty of anything. Good stuff here doctor. It really is a cycle

  • One time a stuffed myself so much to the point of feeling so uncomfortable. I thought I could relieve the stomach pain by going to the bathroom, but that only gave me the hemorrhoids by trying to force things out. (Good thing I found another YouTube video that showed how to cure it with garlic.) But, lesson learned. Do not ever stuff yourself.

  • Ive been intermittent fasting for about 8 months and this seems to be happening to me…I never get full, I used to get full when I ate 3 times a day but now…my eating window is 6-8 hrs.. I consume more than 2500 calories in that period and never feel full. I feel fine otherwise but just feel like I can eat non stop.

  • Since stating Omad and losing 40 pounds and feeling great. I’ve noticed my coworker and his habits on snacking. I was an occasional one to snack also up until a year ago. I started slowly skipping breakfast then back in September started skipping lunch also now I do one meal a day and a 48 fast once a week then a 72 hour fast every other week. My coworker brings chips and cheese crackers and snacks on them most of the morning. I never really noticed how much he keeps snacking until I stopped the snacking.

  • I used to be a real ” pack it away Patty” though never obese, just slim with most of my weight in my middle which I still have. I’ve finally tamed the wild beast i.e. over eating, but slip up once in awhile. It’s amazing what some people put in their bodies, both in quantity and lack of quality. Ever watch those “all you can eat” videos where a guy chows down hundreds of hot dogs etc.? People should take this video with them esp. when they go out to eat. The restaurants here in this country don’t serve food on plates…they serve food on platters! Everything is super-sized so they can charge more money…..why so many have to take home “doggie bags”!   • I agree. I feel happier, bouncier and more productive when I’m 50%-60% full and then tell myself I’ll snack in 3-4 hours. It really helps! Being bloated is a sore feeling, physically and mentally

  • Good timing for this. For breakfast I had a Donut and coffee. Then I had carrot juice and Ginger. I started off lunch with a salad. Then I had a candy and apple turn over. Then I got a slice of mushroom pizza. I followed that with a Wendy’s hamburger and french fries and a Coke. I better skip dinner. I hate myself.
