Interestingly, some studies comparing the paleo diet and traditional low-fat diets have found that the paleo diet is more effective for weight loss, even with similar calorie intakes. In. The paleo diet is an eating pattern that’s designed to mimic the diets of early hunter-gatherer human ancestors. Some research has found that this way of eating may help increase weight. A paleo diet may help you lose weight or maintain your weight.

It may also have other beneficial health effects. However, there are no long-term clinical studies about the benefits and potential risks of the diet. Some studies suggest that Paleo diets may be effective for weight loss and/or metabolic syndrome because you can eat fewer calories without consciously trying to restrict. Essentially, consuming simple, Paleo-style foods may lead to eating less and shedding pounds more quickly. Paleo focuses on reducing carbohydrate consumption.

It also aims at eating primarily the foods that have been found in an earlier caveman-era period of the human diet. The carb restriction leads to quick weight loss, however, dieters still feel confused about this kind of diet. It.

With its inflammation crushing power, Paleo is able to handle these tasks with ease, which is why it can be easy to forget that Paleo is the perfect solution to the everyday problem of weight loss. The sad fact is that two out of three adults in the U.S. are obese or overweight, a. You have met your free view limit. For some, the Paleo diet is a good weight-loss option because it reduces cravings and keeps you feeling full longer.

And if you’re feeling full, you’re less likely to indulge in junk food and sweets. But the Paleo diet is not just a plan for weight loss; it’s intended to be a healthy lifestyle that many follow in. People who support the paleo diet claim that it can aid weight loss and reduce the risk of some health conditions. The focus of the paleo diet is on eating foods that might have been available in.

A Paleo dietary approach fits perfectly with a low-carb or very low-carb ketogenic diet due to the inherently higher intake of lean proteins, healthy fats, and abundant vegetables. Paleo-style eating has a lot of good qualities: It emphasizes whole foods, lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, and healthy fats. Incorporating more of these foods into your diet would likely be a big improvement.

However, the Paleo diet has some flaws.

List of related literature:

Paleo: Based on the eating habits of our Paleolithic ancestors, who ate primarily vegetables, fruit, nuts, roots, and meat, the Paleo diet is very clear about eliminating grains and legumes but doesn’t place hard limits on high-net-carb vegetables, fruits, and sugars such as honey or coconut sugar.

  • Hey Tanya, couldn’t agree more with all of these points! I always tell my patients that the processed paleo foods fall into what we call the “better than” category. They’re “better than” other processed foods, but they’re still processed foods. I think we can use them to provide some flexibility to our diet, but it shouldn’t be the focus as you said. Thanks for all the great info!

  • Fabulous Tanya. I’m losing weight right now. I’m not having a lot of difficulty, because I hired the right help. I recommend hiring help to everyone.

  • This is glorious, been searching for “examples of paleo diet menu” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Fanabraal Toned Tiraspol (do a search on google )? Ive heard some decent things about it and my co-worker got excellent results with it.

  • This video took everything that has worked previously for me and all the new info I’ve been researching and simplified it for me. Thank you so much!

  • I like most of what this guy says except I completely disagree about carbs making you fat, yes it’s possible for carbs to make you fat but it’s actually extremely difficult if it’s healthy carbs that is (whole foods)

The body is extremely efficient at using carbs as energy, every cell in the body the runs on glucose for energy. If the body is receiving more glucose from carbs then it’s burning it stores it as glycogen, if your glycogen reserves are full it then!!! stores it as fat. When you eat fat combined with a high intake of carbs the body stores fat almost immediately unless of course you are in ketosis, yes ketosis is a very effective way at burning fat as fuel, but glucose is the bodies preferred source of fuel (especially the brain) the only way you can get fat from eating carbs is by eating more carbs then your body can burn or store. Being in a caloric deficit each day is the key to losing fat, I don’t care what diet you are on, high carb or high fat, you must be in caloric deficit each day. It is very difficult to over eat on a high carb diet (if it’s natural whole foods)

I challenge any one reading this to eat 2000 calorie worth of broccoli and brown rice, it’s actually quite difficult, brown rice and fruit is full of so much fibre it makes very difficult to exceed your caloric maintenance intake each day.

  • Thanks for explaining this! I’ve been paleo for about 5 weeks and haven’t lost weight. I have been eating as much fruit as I want and that’s probably a big part of the issue. Do you think incorporating back in some “non-paleo” foods would also help?

  • Interesting information my friend. I’m always willing to try different diet. Just might try Paleo out well put together video

  • I was hoping someome could help me, ive tried paleo for a month and my blood sugar dropped hard almost dangerously low, will the paleo still work if implement just a little bit of sugar in the morning?

  • I’m with you 90% bro! On-point advice! The one thing I would add builds on what you said about hormones. If your endocrine system is truly wacked, trying to force your body into fat burning will not work. The adrenals will spike your cortisol, send your thyroid into crisis mode, and you will not only feel like crap but you won’t fat adapt. I learned this the hard way. As an RN, I knew it intellectually, but it took me attempting it myself to accept I needed to heal my thyroid and adrenals first before attempting to fat adapt.

  • Can I take a dose of whey protein(Optimum nutrition)? It has 1g of sugar. I’m doing a 100% paleo diet just for you to know, just low carb high fat.

  • This video totally makes sense and helped me understand so much of the paleo diet!! If I work out 3 times a week, should I be focusing more on cardio, or on weight training?

  • do a video on starches and fat (what they do and how much)..and cravings going paleo…. and what to do about them and why they come?

  • What a great video. This is the kind of information that is saving lives along with the advice of other respected advocates of low carbs. Fructose is the root of all metabolic devastating chronic diseases affecting us: type II diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, obesity, fatty liver failure. Our government won’t do anything about its pyramid; big pharma and big food corporations will keep us sick. Most doctors don’t know anything about nutrition. It is up to us to change. Thank you!

  • I gave up grains, alcohol, coffee and sugar and am still 230 lbs. explain that to me?! Morbidly obese but giving up all processed garbage did absolutely nothing. This is why the whole idea that obese people only eat junk is such bullshit. Fuck off world. I feel 10x better so I will keep going because that alone is worth it.

  • Great video. I would like to see some more videos of what you eat in a day. What are some good snacks to eat besides nuts? I tend to overeat fruits.

  • Paleo processed food is a bit of an oxymoron no? I’m sure cave men weren’t eating cashew cream ice cream. I mostly eat whole foods and avoid grains etc, a lot like you do, but I think I have an issue with the term “paleo”. Any way, some great advice here and I really like your recipes and meal ideas so keep up the good work

  • I’m 43 and have about 20 or so kilos to loose. I’ve traied many diets for the past 10 years and nothing worked for me . I’m thinking about starting the paleo approach and found your video. Are you still following the paleo lifestyle? Have you been able to maintain a healthy weight?

  • This was me eating so much carbs and gaining weight training six times a week! I did Paleo 2 years ago and lost so much weight I felt the best, I did a vegan diet and the pounds just started adding on….

  • I really need to get into the paleo diet I’ve always believed in it. Too bad my parents eat rice, beans, bread, and dairy it’s so hard to avoid it I can’t wait till I move out I won’t buy anything with grains, starch or dairy ☺

  • Winner of a video, I’ve been looking for “paleo diet weight loss results” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Fanabraal Toned Tiraspol (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )? Ive heard some super things about it and my co-worker got great results with it.

  • Thank you so much for this. I am on my first week of Paleo. I am 360lbs 6foot tall. I have not felt this good in years and I am so thankful for your expertise because I really want to sharpen things up. 1 week and 10 lbs down and I feel great. The great thing is that I feel full and have a ton of energy. Thanks again!!

  • I’ve looked into so many weight loss videos and read info… this is the most motivational and straightforward information on fat loss I’ve ever heard.

  • “You just can’t lose weight if you’re eating fruit”. Well. Go on a fruit only diet, eat massive amounts and then come back and tell me you did not lose weight:) Stop spreading misinformation.

  • Just want to say, THANK YOU! you young ladies are so inspiring! I am new to paleo, and you two give such great advice! Once again, thank you so very much!

  • Thank you for posting this video. I’ve been criticized for a while now because I eat Paleo. I’ve been told by people much more overweight than me that Paleo isn’t healthy. Even when I’ve pointed out the undeniable scientific proof that cutting out grains and dairy is better for you. I feel so much better on Paleo, I’m no longer lethargic and constantly sick and miserable. I’m going to continue to eat this way and enjoy my whole real foods, and the health that comes along with it. Cheers!

  • This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about “paleo way of eating” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Fanabraal Toned Tiraspol (should be on google have a look )? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.

  • Great video. Here’s my recent experience. Just weighed in and hit a milestone 20 lb weight loss over the last 9 weeks. Over the last couple of years I had slid off my strict Paleo diet and started eating some non Paleo foods. It happens, you go to your grand kids birthday party and you have some cake, you add a desert to a restaurant meal, drink a bit too much wine at a party and succumb to chips and dips. I was still eating about 80% Paleo but that extra bit resulted in my weight creeping up to 205 lbs. I looked in the mirror and said WTF and recommitted to my healthier lifestyle. Today I weighed 185 lbs and will get down to my goal weight of 175 around the first of December. Remember, just believe in the process If you slide off track, don’t worry just get back to basics and the weight melts off.

In case your wondering what the weight loss basics are:

-Calculate you daily caloric goal for a 1 lb per week weight loss and stay calorie negative every day. (combination of diet and exercise)

-Keep your carbs under 100 grams per day.

-Avoid wheat, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup and sugar

-Eat healthy fats, pastured meats, free range chickens and their eggs, seasonal vegetables and fruits, seeds and nuts organic and local when possible.

Get to the gym, lift some weights and add in some high intensity interval training once or twice per week.

Go for a walk, get outside and get some fresh air and sunshine

  • Thank you for pointing out the mistakes made on paleo. My favorite is not getting enough sleep. Many people don’t understand how important sleep is to overall health. Thank you, Tanya!

  • Thank you for this video… I really really appreciate your good natured spirit and general savvy approach to teaching! You are not only incredibly helpful you are gifted. Please know that. God bless you Mr. Clovis.

  • good stuff man. Im 100% definitely over training. Working out hard like 6 days a week, but im only 24 and my body is use to this amount of training. Im also not getting enough sleep at all. Thats probably my biggest problem. I don’t really eat any high sugar/ high carb fruits. Only 2 strawberries a day.

  • Thank for the information and recipe for healthy and delicious meal.I like healthy food especially fish.People are having success losing weight with healthy way by poleo diet.
I personally start poleo diet 2 month ago and already make me very high spirit during the day.I am sure this will provide tremendous value to anyone that see this. You can check it out here:

  • So you think that all the fruit trees that grew were an accident? Our creator didn’t want us to be attracted to it, or love the taste? It was easier to catch an animal? Oh come on!

  • I love everything about this video. The only time I’ve ever lost weight, is lowering my carbs. Period. I can eat super “healthy/clean” but if my carbohydrates aren’t under 50 I won’t lose the weight I want. The way you broke this down and your no bullshit attitude made this one of the best videos.

  • I did lose weight. Not much, I wasnt overweight, I lost like 2-3kg. This diet is amazing, I had constantly discomfort feeling in my belly and since I eat paleo I feel great.

  • I love your second suggestion. All these processed and pre-packaged “paleo foods” completely contradict what the point of the paleo diet is. I call those foods “Fake paleo”… because the point of paleo is to give up processed food. Primal eating did not include crushing nuts into flour, so they could bake desserts. lol

  • This is exactly what my intuition has told me was true after many years of failed fad diets and marathon long cardio sessions. I’ve been following a paleo diet now for about 3 weeks, and I am feeling so much better.
I will definitely be more cautious with fruits.

  • Right on point with carbs…sugar spikes insulin…insulin is the fat storage hormone. So you’re eating 3 meals+ a day and your insulin is up all day, of course you won’t burn any fat. You must incorporate intermittent fasting or cut your carbs below 20 g to stay in fat burning (ketosis). Good luck.

  • I paired Weight Loss Green Store Tea with a paleo diet and lost weight. I felt less hungry and had energy to spare. No stomach up set and feel great. I would recommend adding this product to a health yeating plan. Great product.

  • I think advice on fat/nut is really true…. When I first got into low carb/paleo I went fat crazy!,….. and had lots of fat to lose!… I stalled!

  • About 6 years ago I tried the Paleo Diet for a month. I lost 15 kg. Reasons: 1: I only had half a plate/bowl of food with no seconds. 2: I kept my meals as simple as possible; so no unnecessary ingredients and recipes. Just an egg or a piece of meat, some fruit and vegetables and nuts. 3: I would walk 15 mins to the shops to buy food for breakfast, lunch and dinner that’s an an hour and a half of fitness everyday. I would also ride my bike to get to and from work. If I get hungry, I would buy a piece of a fruit as a snack. 4: I drank A LOT of water and green tea. This includes having a glass 30 mins before and 30 after each meal to avoid over-eating. 5: I was going through a bout of depression at the time. and 6: I had a cold during the month I tried the Paleo diet.

I literally had never felt so healthy in my life. Mind you, I used the diet to get my health back on track. The weight loss was an added bonus.

  • I lost 30pounds in the last 4 months on paleodiet… after 2 months I started beating a vegetarian in the weekend because I feel more and more lighter when not eating meat during the week… I have mixed feelings about your fruit intake, i am eating 3-4 apples or something similar like peach, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries but I feel good with that… I lost a lot of weight on my sides what was always a bummer when looking at older photos now I feel more calm and lighter and many people def look more when passing by in the street:) anyways great information def very helpful… peace from manhattan

  • I’m an overweight women. I’m 5’10 213 pounds. I have never watched what I eat, obviously. I’m just starting a paleo lifestyle, and I purchased the beginners book. But I have no idea how to find out if I’m eating to many carbs or what a macro is, what should I read to be more informed? Anyone, please.

  • If all the fruit lovers are like “Goodbye paleo.” Just don’t. I am a huge fruit lover myself and I guarantee you that you can fit your favourite fruits in your daily intake when you track exactly what you eat. I personally have at least one smoothie or two pieces of fruit every day and I am still able to maintain the low sugar intake as mentioned in the video. Once you stop eating all the processed food with added sugars there is plenty of room for the healthier option = fruits. So don’t worry, it works this way! (But if you want to go hardcore, eating as low sugar as possible is the best for quick results but that means not eating your fruits so.. )

  • This study is very good, but the name should be EATING WRONG FATS AND WRONG CARBS = WEIGHT GAIN. This study was debunked before, real paleo is above 60% fat and less 20% good carbs. You are stupid mr. Sof or just act like one.

  • Yep it’s SOOO hard to get folks to believe you on the fruit… buddy works hard and kept eating bananas, oranges and grapefruits all day like for his in between and before bed he was thinking he was being so disciplined…when he started to have eggs/egg whites, nuts, etc to replace that, that bastard got shredded in like 45 days…..He DID thank

  • How much fat products did they consume and how much plants, vegetables, fruits etc. etc., which contain more or loss no energy, but a lot of important minerals? Cause in paleo diet it is not just about eating nuts, avocados and meat, but also products which rats maybe don’t touch? I for myself can say that I lost 6 kg within a few weeks, when I left out grains, produced meat, milk products. But honestly: I really would feel and get sick, if I just ate high fat products. Those products are only 20-30% of the diet. The rest is veggies, fruits, herbs and a little bit of eggs and fish. There r really healthy paleos and unhealthy once. Just like healthy and unhealthy vegan. It is all about how they live their “culture”. It would be nice to get more information on the diet itself! Thx for charing!

  • Hi all. I’m hoping that someone can answer my questions. I emailed the contact on his website and was told that they can’t give any medical advice but was directed to a facebook group and was given a book recommendation of which I am grateful, however, My question is, does the 50 g of carbs include carbs that vegetables contain? For example, 1 cup of cooked kale has 7.3 grams of carbs. Do I count them (minus the fiber of course)? Also, should I omit fruit all together?

  • Thank God im allergic to nuts so I can’t really go overboard i completely cut out packaged and dessert foods, it hurts but you know.

  • So true. I have always had a lot of fat and slept very little. Did a saliva test and found out my horomones were tanked from lack of sleep and stressful life (mental health/social worker is my career) Struggling with adrenal fatigue now. Now my life is to shut off all artifical light after 8pm. Asleep by 10pm at the latest. It has made a world of difference without changing much else. Thanks for the info!

  • Try this Simplified Solution and Eat how we are designed to. EAT DELICIOUSLY Healthy Food Here.

  • Thank you for briefly touching on the “intuitive eating” myth in this video. I can’t stand it when people say you should just eat intuitively and everything will magically fall into place. I’d be doing the same thing as Amy and just living on nut butter or paleo banana bread all day. Even when you’re strictly eating whole foods, you still have to put some thought into your diet. I never starve myself and always eat until I’m satiated, but I try not to overindulge in any one food group, even if it’s healthy.

  • how do you explain freelee the banana girl then? All she eats is carbs and believes everyone should carb the fuck up. Carbs feed your brain and your cells you need them to have a healthy diet. Also you should read the China Study really good book gives you a lot of good information. I know you are promoting vegetables but FRUIT is key too! Fruit is so good for you and has so many healthy benefits.

  • I dont agree with the needs to lwer carbs to burn fat. I ate over 200 grams of carbs per day with regular excercise and was my leanest. Today im on Higher fat and lwer carbs and my body is not the same. So everyone is different. Its not one size fits all

  • Why is pete evans thin? Why am i thin? Why do they study mice and not humans? How much is this dude getting paid? Why did the csiro last week tell us lchf is good? Nutrition research is the biggest bullshit field there is

  • Throughout this whole video, I felt like nodding my head and saying, “AMEN BROTHER!”. Lol. Although I follow all three of these rules and still have a decent amount of body fat. Go figure…

  • Great video. I switched to a paleo diet after years of suffering from heartburn and then about 18 months ago I developed adult acne and was on some pretty strong antibiotics for 6 months, I has tried various other diets to try and solve the issues but didnt work so I tried paleo and within 2.5 to 3 weeks my heartburn had gone and at around 6 weeks my skin had started to clear up on my back then my face.

It just shows you that the stuff we put in our bodies, all that processed rubbish really doesnt do us any favours and causes some major health issues. I knew diet was important but I never realised how unhealthy my original way of eating was damaging me, I always considered myself to be a reasonably healthy eater.

Anyone looking to switch to paleo definitely should give it a try. If your looking for help on what to eat and recipes, I used these to give me a head start and swear by them now

  • No doubt you’ll lose weight on the paleo diet but a lot of times it’s muscle and not fat. He’s right removing sugar from your diet completely can really help

  • Any advice for constipation? I have IBS C and eating lots of meat and fat makes me feel quite ill and heavy. The only thing that works is brown rice and lots of water.

  • Really helpful! I did Paleo for a while and had some good results and then things really slowed down And I ended up stopping and trying something different. Long story short, I have gained back 20 unwanted pounds. I am back to Paleo and I think your video and information will be very helpful to me! Thank you!

  • Hey, Dr.Fox, great video, I agree with almost all the points, I will make my own video in a while it’s on my bucket list.
I don’t think anyone can follow it as most of the foods changed in the past centuries. Also, ideal paleo will look very much like keto:)

  • Hey!
