The popular potato diet claims to help you lose up to one pound (0.45 kg) per day by eating nothing but plain spuds for three to five days. The concept dates back to 1849 but was made. Hannah’s diet: this one lasts 30 days (or more!) and consists of eating only potatoes, fruits and vegetables, but without restriction. Make sure never to add any fat ingredients to your meals, but eat. But here’s the thing: Potatoes aren’t bad for you—in fact, when prepared and consumed the right way, potatoes are healthy—and they can actually fast-track your weight-loss goals. “Potatoes are a.

What if I told you that you could eat potatoes and lose weight? Would you believe me? Related Build Muscle on $7 a Day. When prepared properly, potatoes are a decent food choice, especially if you. If you are choosing to lose weight, speak with your doctor first to find out the safest and most effective way to do so for you.

Eating whole, unprocessed, and homemade foods with plenty of. As JJ Virgin explains, potatoes can actually help you lose weight because these slow release carbs give you a steady sustained energy that can help boost serotonin, stifle cravings, and improve your mood. Potatoes can absolutely supplement a healthy diet, which can help you lose weight—but eating nothing but spuds is unnecessarily restrictive, says Dr.

Nadolsky. For some people, this can. Potatoes may not be a “perfect food” (what food is?), but they certainly can be used as a healthy addition to any diet designed to aid weight loss and lower blood pressure and other cardiovascular risk factors. Hopefully, Penn Jillette’s experience will help turn any notion that potatoes. Potatoes, while surprisingly nutritious, do not contain all the nutrients you need for optimal health.

My goal was not weight loss, but rather a reset for my gut. I was a little afraid of losing strength/muscle, but I figured three days would be okay. Here are the basic rules: Eat ONLY potatoes. You can choose to have this humble dish either as your breakfast or lunch. Simply boil one potato and let it cool off completely.

You can season it with spices like black pepper or include a bit of.

  • Potatoes are vegetables so why would they be bad for you…it’s what you put on them.is bad. People would kill me saying they were bad for you, yet I would eat them all the time and still lose weight.

  • Great potatoes made me feeling Great!
For a 75 years old man, 6 feet tall, 140 pounds, and after eating potatoes for 6 weeks and 3 days I lost 20 pounds.
Now I weigh 120 sexy pounds and look like a stick floating on the Mississippi River.
I don’t need viagra anymore, thanks for the potatoes and cayenne pepper.
My old Fartiends invite me to all their hotdog parties now, I always make sure I take my potatoes there to celebrate.

  • Heating & cooling only increases resistant starch by 3% of total weight. It’s a myth. And doesn’t the colon absorb the fatty acids produced from RS? And if so then your calorie intake is exactly the same.

  • Losing weight is physically and psychologically taxing. In order to successfully drop pounds, you have to be disciplined, creative, and determined, but achieving your weight loss goals makes the entire struggle worthwhile.

  • Woww thank you so much for helping with you efforts on doing this diet it help me alot now I’m eating more potatoes to help my body you get 10 stars in my books for this effort

  • I don’t know if I posted this on another of your potato vids but I am SO glad you went into this! It makes total sense too, because ive heard that carbs aren’t so much the problem, it’s mixing FAT with your carbs that causes you to gain weight (like sour cream on potatoes rather than salsa.) And look at most of Asia for example, they eat carbs (rice) with every meal and yet don’t gain a lot of weight because they’re not topping it with cheese or other fatty foods. I love potatoes, its one of those foods that’s so versatile and I could eat with every meal, so i’m happy!:)

  • Hi could you please post the diet plan and what else you tie, ie exercise. How much potatoes can you eat each day etc. and the transition back to eating normal plant based foods to keep weight off

  • Very Interesting! but u might wanna check this out regarding losing weight. It’s the bomb! Just have an open mind, take time to read a good testimony. You’ll thank me after. 😉

  • My advice is to do the Potatoe diet for 30 days to reset your tastebuds.
Then start eating Plant Based meals from then on.
Whats amazing is that you can stuff your face with a variety of different recipes and never gain excess weight.
I eat 6 snacks and 3 main meals (9 in total throughout the day). Never starving, never lethargic.

You also won’t miss meat or diary because of your reset tastebuds.

  • Whatever than everyone would gain weight off hot potatoes. Try intermittent fasting where your eating window is 8 hrs and your fast is 16 hrs. You can fast while you sleep also. So, just don’t eat breakfast. See what I did there. Eat one meal a day if you want. It will help you lose weight and it turns on human growth hormone to keep you looking young and it is healthy for the body. Backed by science. Look it up. It can even help you not get certain cancers. Regulate hunger hormones. Women should do it 3 times a week as to not mess with menstrual cycle hormones. Men can do it as often as they see fit. At first it is difficult to get used to. But, after that you will see awesome results and feel energized.

  • THE 2 WEEK DIET is a revolutionary new dietary system that not only guarantees to help you lose weight, it also promises to eliminate more body fat faster than anything you’ve tried before.

  • I had cold potatoes for breakfast. I had cooked them 2 days ago. Potatoes are fantastic for weight loss. Starch in general is great. Just add plent of greens, especially leaves. It’s sugar and vegetable oils that are the disasters.

  • I just ate my first two potatoes this morning. I’m not going to eat only potatoes for a month, but instead am doing a 3 day per week experiment.

  • I’ve always kept my potatoes in the fridge, against the popular belief they should be kept in a cool dark pantry/storage area. I don’t eat them often enough to avoid the sprouting of roots & gnats. The fridge keeps them fresher longer.

  • I think it depends on how the potatoes are prepared. A lot of potato dishes are deep fried and suck up the oil. Some are covered in cheese/cream too and probably hundreds of other high calorie methods. I´m glad it´s working for you.

  • Root vegetables are full of fibers but they both have earned a bad name for being bad for weight watchers to find out if they can be made a part of your weight loss diet. To know more please visit here https://www.favefooddiet.com/Video/?hop=reba1029

  • Promoting an extremely unnecessary & restrictive form of vegansim that even restricts healthy Essential fats to a “bare minimum”!? Have we gone back in time here?? I am usually the biggest promoter of your channel Rawvana because your content and msg is always 10/10 but this is an unnecessary hot mess! <3

  • I’ve just been double baking them. Stab them with a fork and nuke them for 6 mins on each side, then use different salsa’s or hot sauce. Seems to be working, and I feel less hungry the more I’ve been eating them. Congrats for anyone it’s helping them lose weight.

  • This is a great diet and lifestyle change. The reason this works is the potatoes don’t breakdown in the gut therefore less insulin that has to be given out in the body. It helps you stay full as well. My doctor was telling me about this. Even eating rice is another good choice. Only problem I have is they don’t want you to have dairy products and I love regular milk. I might try eating more potatoes and not packing all the fats on top. Good to see ya Jim.

  • Good for you on the weight loss! Potatoes, on their own, aren’t fattening…it’s the butter, cream, and bacon add-ons that pack on the pounds. I like to roast potato chunks with a little oil, salt&pepper…and keep them for snacks….Or just steam some of the little red potatoes…Now, I’m hungry!! Thumbs Up…

  • Look for YouTube videos by Dr. John McDougall on “The Starch Solution.” He cites research about the healthfulness of potatoes and other low-fat starches from whole foods. It might get boring, but you really can function quite well on nothing but potatoes. At the time I posted this, you have 25 thumbs-down from potato haters.

  • I really would like to try this

I may try to make the dishes taste differently. Maybe add different spices or cook it differently like chopped or smooth.

  • The main point of Potato diet is to have it without anything (especially dairy). Plus potato peel is super important for nutrients, so keep it on please:)

  • cant wait for ur channel to blow up 😉
glad ur promoting a starch heavy diet as the fad diet right now is usually anti starch. i lost 25 pounds (190-165) on a protein/starch/fat heavy diet. gained a lot of muscle too. the secret? getting off my ass and working out every day.

  • I’m a carb lover from way back, and this looks like a perfect meal, Jim. Yum! It’s good to see you active and feeling better all the time. (:

  • FYI your cells are intelligent, they built you. You must tell them and they will help you target your weight loss. Sit Ups tell your Cells you want to loose weight in your tummy. I never eliminate certain things from my diet as they are essential for specific parts of the body. Berries are essential for brains and for cells and the immune system. Especially blueberries. I used to be vegan, but gave it up after learning biology. I do not do odd diets where I have to eliminate things I know my body needs. I reduce calories and carbs and do target exercise for the region I want to trim and the benefit is it increases my endurance. At any age those things are important. I do not let my vanity or pride rule my well being. My brains, organs and my Cells are more important in the long run than my belly fat. I am 5′ 8″ and weigh about 180 pounds with a 39 inch waist. I used to weight 283 pounds and had a 48 inch waist. I lost most of it rotating every three to four weeks between my custom low carb diet and my custom low calorie diet.

  • Don’t just eat potatoes. You should drink at least 6 bottles of water everyday, too. Here is the secret, water. I lost 3 pounds per day.

  • Very interesting Jim! I recently heard something about fried potatoes linked with an early demise, but I think it was more about deep fat frying. Of course I usually load baked potatoes up with butter and sour cream and maybe bacon so I guess that part doesn’t help with weight loss (sure tastes good though.) Twice baked allows the option of even more butter sour cream bacon and cheese…oh well. My other approach is oven (or grill) roasted with just olive oil salt pepper and fresh rosemary. Ah, that’s better for ya 😉

A note: Maybe I’m seeing things, but if I cut a potato and it was dark inside like yours appears to I’d toss it. Didn’t seem to bother you at all!

  • I have a medium microwave proof bowl, I take 1 big or 2 medium potatoes, dribble a good dose of Trader Joe Olive oil (I hear its good quality?) roll it around in the bowl so both sides are wet, cover and microwave for 3 mins. If the potatoes are softer, it may be done, if its nice and firm you give it another 3 or 2 mins. SOOOOO easy.

  • why do you eat the skin with added dirt? is the soil important to the diet. Oh and its simply a sum of calories in vs calories out.. and at 700 cal per kg.. I cant eat 1kg a day so I am down from 2000 cal to about 500 and I feel full all the time. Boil them first then make “baked: in olive oil. Add mint and some gravy.. Heaven and I lose 2kg per day.

  • Nutrient content is identical to sweet potato except reg potato has 17% potassium and sweet pot have 10% potassium and sweet pot have more vitamin A. That it everything else the same!!!!

Sooooooo can i do the potato diet with sweet potatos!!!??

  • Not a lot of factual information here…. personalities seems forced… like a couple of chicks wanting attention and just trying to make $ off YouTube.

  • Jim, I’ve heard a lotta good things about potatoes! I don’t eat too many of them because it messes up my low carb diet. But those on low calorie or low fat diets seem to do very well consuming potatoes! Your skillet meal looks amazingly tasty! Congrats on the weight loss!

  • Great to see you Jim, glad your surgery seems to have went well!
I just always assumed potatoes were very fattening. And the way I like them, I’m sure they are. But that’s an interesting thought, I’ll store that one away and try it someday.

  • Wow! I have pcos and cant loose weight even after gym and eating less. Ill try this with egg for a week first and see if i can continue for a month. Thanks for the inspiration

  • I don’t know if anyone will see this, do you cook for others as well as yourself? It did you cook just for you and your partner handled the rest of the cooking? That’s the hard thing for me. I have been gotten a system down for myself while also cooking normal for the others.

  • Those look amazing. Easy and creative! They are right up my ally with the pepper, green onions, and hot sauce! Haha. I think people gain weight when they add all the high calorie toppings like butter and sour cream. Congrats on the weight loss!

  • I know this is an old video, but I am a newer subscriber and I am just seeing this for the first time. I am also plant based, but I am struggling to lose weight. Questionhave you kept this weight off, or did it come back after you reintroduced other foods back into your diet?

  • why do you eat the skin with added dirt? is the soil important to the diet. Oh and its simply a sum of calories in vs calories out.. and at 700 cal per kg.. • I don’t think it has to be that boring either. I tried the jacket potato diet, where I would load the potato with quorn mince cooked in tomato sauce and topped with sour cream. I lost alot of weight fast and my results were very similar to when I did the keto diet. I enjoyed it alot more. I’m going to try the potato diet again with tuna mayonnaise and sweetcorn, need to lost 28lbs!

  • I’ve just been double baking them. Stab them with a fork and nuke them for 6 mins on each side, then use different salsa’s or hot sauce. Seems to be working, and I feel less hungry the more I’ve been eating them. Congrats for anyone it’s helping them lose weight.

  • I ate only potatoes for 5 days and lost a couple of lbs. I even managed my soda addiction which is nearly impossible for me. I had no cravings. I guess I got bored with just white potatoes.

  • I rarely leave any kind of constructive criticism because I know how difficult it is to have a social platform and to live in a constant culture of critique. But I had to speak up about this. As a Registered Dietitian with an M.S. in Nutrition and 6 years of clinical experience in medical nutrition therapy, I am extremely disappointed that you both would promote a diet of potatoes for health and weight loss.

Not only will this kind of message promote eating disorders and disordered eating, it’s also downright unsafe because it is lacking in two of the three macronutrients (fat and protein) and it falls short in micronutrients and essential fatty acids. I’d love to see the studies that suggest this diet is “the best” in terms of preventing chronic disease. I just did a pub med search on this and came across zero studies. Just because a diet “worked” for one person you know, does not mean that it is safe or that there is any evidence to support this way of eating. It’s important to known the difference between anecdotal evidence (your mom) and randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials that are published in peer reviewed journals. If you do not know the difference, it is irresponsible to post a video like this making these type of claims.

You also mention that oil is “bad”. Again, not true. There is a lot of clinical research to suggest that there is an inverse relationship between healthy oils such as olive oil and the development of cardiovascular disease (here’s one: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29124386). Also, oil is NOT made up saturated fat (which I saw that you mentioned in the comments when someone else questioned your claim). Almost 100% of oils are primarily unsaturated in nature. There are only two types of oils that contain large amounts of saturated fat: coconut oil and palm oil. Frankly, I’m surprised that you are even labeling foods as “good” and “bad”, because as someone with a history of an eating disorder, I would think that you would realize that these kinds of labels are not helpful and further promote disordered eating. A healthy diet is flexible. Period.

I urge you both to please do your research and be more responsible with the message you are promoting throughout your platform.

  • I applaud you for doing your diet, but I prefer unsweetened oatmeal in the morning and cabbage and potatoes in the evening. It is far more balanced and will accomplish the same thing. Also, even if you attain $100 per week on your food bill, that is $400 per month. You really need to learn how to cook totally from scratch, because you could cut that in half.

  • Day 3 Potatoes + Tea/Coffee + Sauces/spices sparingly. I could do this for a LONG time,as long as you switch up the flavors this is easy and awesome. To curb sugar cravings use stevia in tea.

  • I’ve been on the diet for 3 days and I’m down 8 pounds I will begin to start working out on day 6. It’s a challenge bc I’m a big guy used to big meals but it’s worth it

  • The Irish diet before the blight of 1847 consisted of potatoes, scallions, butter or cream mashed together!
The population doubled with the introduction of the potato! It’s important to understand that there was no famine in Ireland! It was the blight that destroyed their main source of food. While they starved, the English shipped out food from Ireland!
    THE FOOD REMOVAL:

From Cork harbor on one day in 1847 2 the AJAX steamed for England with 1,514 firkins of butter, 102 casks of pork, 44 hogsheads of whiskey, 844 sacks of oats, 247 sacks of wheat, 106 bales of bacon, 13 casks of hams, 145 casks of porter, 12 sacks of fodder, 28 bales of feathers, 8 sacks of lard, 296 boxes of eggs, 30 head of cattle, 90 pigs, 220 lambs, 34 calves and 69 miscellaneous packages. On November 14, 1848 3, sailed, from Cork harbor alone: 147 bales of bacon, 120 casks and 135 barrels of pork, 5 casks of hams, 149 casks of miscellaneous provisions (foodstuff); 1,996 sacks & 950 barrels of oats; 300 bags of flour; 300 head of cattle; 239 sheep; 9,398 firkins of butter; 542 boxes of eggs. On July 28, 1848 4; a typical day’s food shipments from only the following four ports: from Limerick: the ANN, JOHN GUISE and MESSENGER for London; the PELTON CLINTON for Liverpool; and the CITY OF LIMERICK, BRITISH QUEEN, and CAMBRIAN MAID for Glasgow. This one-day removal of Limerick’s food was of 863 firkins of butter; 212 firkins, 1,198 casks and 200 kegs of lard, 87 casks of ham; 267 bales of bacon; 52 barrels of pork; 45 tons and 628 barrels of flour; 4,975 barrels of oats and 1,000 barrels of barley. From Kilrush: the ELLEN for Bristol; the CHARLES G. FRYER and MARY ELLIOTT for London. This one-day removal was of 550 tons of County Clare’s oats and 15 tons of its barley. From Tralee: the JOHN ST. BARBE, CLAUDIA and QUEEN for London; the SPOKESMAN for Liverpool. This one-day removal was of 711 tons of Kerry’s oats and 118 tons of its barley. From Galway: the MARY, VICTORIA, and DILIGENCE for London; the SWAN and UNION for Limerick (probably for transshipment to England). This one-day removal was of 60 sacks of Co. Galway’s flour; 30 sacks and 292 tons of its oatmeal; 294 tons of its oats; and 140 tons of its miscellaneous provisions (foodstuffs). British soldiers forcibly removed it from its starving Limerick, Clare, Kerry and Galway producers.

In Belmullet, Co. Mayo the mission of 151 soldiers 5 of the 49th Regiment, in addition to escorting livestock and crops to the port for export, was to guard a few tons of stored meal from the hands of the starving; its population falling from 237 to 105 between 1841 and 1851. Belmullet also lost its source of fish in January, 1849, when Britain’s Coast Guard arrested its fleet of enterprising fishermen ten miles at sea in the act of off-loading flour from a passing ship. They were sentenced to prison and their currachs were confiscated.

The Waterford Harbor British army commissariat officer wrote to British Treasury Chief Charles Trevelyan on April 24, 1846; “The barges leave Clonmel once a week for this place, with the export supplies under convoy which, last Tuesday, consisted of 2 guns, 50 cavalry, and 80 infantry escorting them on the banks of the Suir as far as Carrick.” While its people starved, the Clonmel district exported annually, along with its other farm produce, approximately 60,000 pigs in the form of cured pork.

  • if you were wearing a bra with support, then I’m sure your after picture would look even better! There was a very noticeable difference, thanks for sharing.

  • I love your videos but potatoes are actually bad for people with chronic illnesses & autoimmune diseases. Please do extensive research before promoting a diet that can be bad for people with certain health issues & claiming it’s good for them.

  • 11 is a great job but it certainly isn’t anything too impressive given the extremity of the diet. You can lose the same amount of weight or more in 1 month by just having a low calorie diet and you get to eat a huge variety of food.

  • Congratulations! Slimming products are earning a lot by promising people with losing weight as fast as 1week, only to be dissapointed by the result, it’s either not losing weight or losing your energh to live. I’m on my 3rd week of WFPB diet, and already lost 9lbs, and I don’t think I have the stomach on returning to eating animal products again. But will definitely try this potato diet.

  • I thought potatoes are all carbohydrates which the body turns straight to sugar then fat. I eat a lot of hot chilli peppers I think that they help and are good for you in many ways

  • That’s interesting Jim I thought potatoes were high in carbs I love potatoes so this is for me, your potato dish looks delicious.

  • How many calories a day are you eating? I know patatos have a lot of sugar and carbs and ppl with diabetes shouldn’t do this diet/challenge. You loose weight if you don’t eat a lot of patatos.500-800 cal a day.
    How is this even possible?

  • Omg! Your results are amazing. Thank you for being so brave and genuine to just be real and honest. I have been eating potatoes too and it’s crazy how nearly every day I wake up smaller. I love potatoes !

  • You can’t beat spuds, vegetables and lentils if you want to eat cheap. It’s also nutritious and environmentally friendly, so what’s not to like? It’s a myth that we need a huge variety of different food stuffs to stay healthy. Dr Pam Popper looked at long-lived populations throughout the world and concluded that they all have limited diets and eat what is grown locally and is in season. Just because we can have wild yams flown in from Peru doesn’t mean we should.

  • When I was thinner, I ate a lot of potatoes. I think they are just so satisfying so I don’t feel the need to snack as much because I’m full.

  • Im rating potatos for research eheheheh im excited ill probably get tired of potatos tho even tho they r my fav. Potatos with cumin, turmeric, and curry im excitedd

  • I just ate my first two potatoes this morning. I’m not going to eat only potatoes for a month, but instead am doing a 3 day per week experiment.

  • Wow, my mother’s nickname is Dana, and she tried this diet for a month and she lost 13kg… ps. add lower fat yogurt, it cleanses your body and makes you lose weight faster…

  • i love you rawvana but this is not healthy advice. Many ppl that followed hclf/raw till 4 movement ended up with hormonal imbalances and high triglycerides. Now this is round 2 of hclf, fear fat, no oil which will pull another round of victims in

  • That was a great Potatoes tip for us. There are some more great tips for diet and lose weight in the below link which has helped me and i recommend you to try. https://goo.gl/4Fi7Wm

  • I’ve been eating starch solution for the last 3 months, and have lost 15 pounds without even trying. This includes mainly potatoes, but tons of greens, grains, fruit and beans/legumes. But no oil is key. I’ve never felt better!!

  • Thank you Rawvana for this video. It is true you guys, its the most healthiest diet ever! I’ve been on it even before I saw this video and have lost weigh and still losing and getting a ton of compliments on how well I look. Do your research on the benefits of potatoes and you will be shocked as I was. Don’t knock it before you try it. Keep up the good work girls!

  • Thanks for the video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about Taparton Complete Cleanse Takeover (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for discovering a really effective health cleanse without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my old buddy Taylor at last got excellent results with it.

  • Rawvana is so good idea i took for lunch. To my work make me full and is yummy the sweet potatoes i love thankyou for your tips

  • Relax, shes just promoting her friend Setareh. Rawvana did a recipe with potato but she used greens and a dressing, I think she just wants her fans to get to know setareh

  • I have found that eating starchy foods cause me weight gain, BIG TIME. I’m not liking the way vegan YouTubers promote such terrible advice. If someone has significant weight to lose, chances are they don’t process starches, sugars and refined carbs like others. I would much rather see a video on how to do a vegan keto diet. A lot of overweight people are leaving veganism because of weight gain and going towards a meat eating keto lifestyle. Also, this video sure is getting a lot of thumbs down.

  • I’ve had amazing success on the Potato Diet, I’ve been doing it on and off since February and I’ve lost over 30 pounds and learned to love vegetables (it totally reset my taste buds).

  • Root vegetables are full of fibers but they both have earned a bad name for being bad for weight watchers to find out if they can be made a part of your weight loss diet. To know more please visit here https://www.favefooddiet.com/Video/?hop=reba1029

  • I really would like to try this

I may try to make the dishes taste differently. Maybe add different spices or cook it differently like chopped or smooth.

  • This is amazing! I gained most of my weight in my stomach. I’ve been eating veggies & lot’s of sweet potato. Hopefully I will still loose weight

  • Hi could you make a video how you clean your fruit, veggies and how you store them? Whats the best way to clean, store and freeze? Thank and love your videos.

  • No! The science is not there the proof is not there! Rawvana!! Wtf!!!! Iv been watching you forever like what are you thinking. Your telling your viewers to only eat potatoes. Think about it. Like just take a step back and think. Is this a safe thing to tell people?

  • Potatoes are vegetables so why would they be bad for you…it’s what you put on them.is bad. People would kill me saying they were bad for you, yet I would eat them all the time and still lose weight.

  • I LOVE potatoes Jim. I can’t deny it. It’s good to hear that potatoes can be good for you! Looking forward to my potato diet. I guess deep frying them is out though?

  • This is anecdotal evidence, at best. The heart and brain NEED healthy fats to function. Would you like the science behind that? Please, Rawvana, I love veganism, and I like watching you, but STOP gearing young girls toward this type of diet or I will report you.

  • If you want to lose weight you have to go on a sustainable lifestyle and NOT on a diet. Starving yourself in any way is NOT healthy. Eat carbs, eat fat and it your protein. This video let people think that a healthy vegan lifestyle is super boring…

  • Make sure your ‘seasoning’ does not have sugar. Add a drizzle of MCT or coconut oil. Eat them cool or room temp and they’re even better for you.

  • That’s interesting Jim I thought potatoes were high in carbs I love potatoes so this is for me, your potato dish looks delicious.

  • Notification squad here anyone else got the bell on? seriously love your vibes together! What a great video and thanks for all the tips. Love you ladies!

  • Please dont listen to this well meaning human. Advanced glycation end products. Evidence in epigenetics. Telomere cleaving galore with this recommendation. So sad

  • Woww thank you so much for helping with you efforts on doing this diet it help me alot now I’m eating more potatoes to help my body you get 10 stars in my books for this effort

  • Heating & cooling only increases resistant starch by 3% of total weight. It’s a myth. And doesn’t the colon absorb the fatty acids produced from RS? And if so then your calorie intake is exactly the same.

  • Well, I will tell you, before I finish watching your vid: I, too, lost weight without my stomach changing sizes much at all, and, in some cases, not at all. Like, I weighed some enormous weight due to hormone issues (yes, skeptics, seriously) due to allergic reactions, so I don’t know how much I weighed. It might have been an enormous amount over 400 lbs. It was definitely at least in the upper 300’s. And, I lost down to to 246 lbs. Which means definitely way over 100 lbs. Possibly closer to 200 lbs. And, my waist lost 3″.

I found when I fasted, my waist would get smaller during the fasting. Thinking back on my past, after an impromptu and extended fast, I ended up where I could eat pretty well and not have a big belly, too, when I was 17 and before I got pregnant a few times. Since then, I had found many methods that enable me to lose weight, but, few where I actually felt any better or where my belly would go away.

Until I started playing about with the Ayurvedic recommendations for Kapha type, which led me to reading things by Dr. McDougall, which led me to reading things by Dr. Ornish, and, back to Fit for Life, which I tried to follow before but found too fussy and full of recipes I would never follow. The thing is, all of them have some basic ideas that are the same, such as being careful of food combining, eating mostly or all plant-based, at least at times eating higher amounts of starch and eschewing animal foods.

Whenever I did experimenting with this sort of eating, I began to lose weight on my belly. And, I felt so much better. Like, I could sleep and I had energy to get things done, including mental energy. Especially, it happened when I was eating beans and rice most often for lunch and dinner different recipes, different types of beans and, oatmeal or raisin bread toast with banana (or, both) for breakfast. I also drank a lot of water and a lot of ginger water. 16 lbs, one week, pants were sliding off of me after I put them on,straight from the dryer. So, definitely lost belly size.

And, now, back to seeing what you have to tell.

  • This is amazing! I gained most of my weight in my stomach. I’ve been eating veggies & lot’s of sweet potato. Hopefully I will still loose weight

  • This video, the format, and the title are all very misleading. Yes, oils aren’t healthy, and potatoes are very healthy, but this video makes it seem like you should ONLY eat potatoes. I know that’s not what you meant by making this video, but it’s what it came off as, and some of the young people that watch your channel could possibly develop an eating disorder with this kind of advice.

  • I LOVE potatoes Jim. I can’t deny it. It’s good to hear that potatoes can be good for you! Looking forward to my potato diet. I guess deep frying them is out though?

  • Very Interesting! but u might wanna check this out regarding losing weight. It’s the bomb! Just have an open mind, take time to read a good testimony. You’ll thank me after. 😉

  • Are potatoes will not mess up your blood sugar nor will it make you fat when we add everything to the potato that’s the problem the butter or for some people with sweet potatoes the sugar start adding things to it of course we’re going to get big and frying them is no better

  • Wow! I have pcos and cant loose weight even after gym and eating less. Ill try this with egg for a week first and see if i can continue for a month. Thanks for the inspiration

  • Potatoes are great, but if your looking for something simpler without much prep try detox tea. I have switched from coffee to tea and I am much less bloated. LOVE DETOX TEA!!

  • I had cold potatoes for breakfast. I had cooked them 2 days ago. Potatoes are fantastic for weight loss. Starch in general is great. Just add plent of greens, especially leaves. It’s sugar and vegetable oils that are the disasters.

  • Are potatoes will not mess up your blood sugar nor will it make you fat when we add everything to the potato that’s the problem the butter or for some people with sweet potatoes the sugar start adding things to it of course we’re going to get big and frying them is no better

  • Make sure your ‘seasoning’ does not have sugar. Add a drizzle of MCT or coconut oil. Eat them cool or room temp and they’re even better for you.

  • Really. You need to pull yourLeggings down to the same level as you did in the before picture. So not a reliable scientific before and after.

  • Those look amazing. Easy and creative! They are right up my ally with the pepper, green onions, and hot sauce! Haha. I think people gain weight when they add all the high calorie toppings like butter and sour cream. Congrats on the weight loss!

  • I’ve always kept my potatoes in the fridge, against the popular belief they should be kept in a cool dark pantry/storage area. I don’t eat them often enough to avoid the sprouting of roots & gnats. The fridge keeps them fresher longer.

  • Dude that’s incredible! Great results! I’m just starting out myself, I’ve been vegan for 14 yrs but whole foods just for a few months and now doing the potato reset!

  • do you leave them over night in the fridge? EVERY one else does, do not mention it at all..you cook and eat …. please  reply ………….

  • First of all this is the best video I saw on the topic as you were right to the point!I have the same issue with my stomach,2 kids and insulin resistance. I want to try it but I need to know u had just potatoes?no greens or salad??or coffee?and second,I worry that when I start eating the other stuff again (such as salad pasta, oatmeal etc) I will gain the weight back.what do you think??also what u had for breakfast?thank u!!

  • When I was thinner, I ate a lot of potatoes. I think they are just so satisfying so I don’t feel the need to snack as much because I’m full.

Thumbs Up…

  • Nutrient content is identical to sweet potato except reg potato has 17% potassium and sweet pot have 10% potassium and sweet pot have more vitamin A. That it everything else the same!!!!

Sooooooo can i do the potato diet with sweet potatos!!!??

  • Great to see you Jim, glad your surgery seems to have went well!
I just always assumed potatoes were very fattening. And the way I like them, I’m sure they are. But that’s an interesting thought, I’ll store that one away and try it someday.

  • Oooh purple is my favorite color and I’ve tried purple sweet potatoes but not regular potatoes. You’ve inspired me to look for different varieties of potatoes next time I go to the grocery store. Great video as always!!

  • THIS IS WAYYYY OFF BASE,. YOVANA. RUN BACK TO JESUS. HIS WAY IS TRUTH. THANK YOU MILES FOR SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT. WAITING ON UNNATURAL VEGAN TO SHOW UP NEXT…JUST SAYING

  • I think it depends on how the potatoes are prepared. A lot of potato dishes are deep fried and suck up the oil. Some are covered in cheese/cream too and probably hundreds of other high calorie methods. I´m glad it´s working for you.

  • Dude that’s incredible! Great results! I’m just starting out myself, I’ve been vegan for 14 yrs but whole foods just for a few months and now doing the potato reset!

  • You Definitely Lost Some In Your Upper Arms Slimmer And More Proportioned. Congrats! I Want To Try This For At Least A Week or 10 Days.

  • I don’t know if anyone will see this, do you cook for others as well as yourself? It did you cook just for you and your partner handled the rest of the cooking? That’s the hard thing for me. I have been gotten a system down for myself while also cooking normal for the others.

  • Wow… This doesn’t seem very healthy or maintainable. For weight loss this could work sure, but why not learn to eat a variety of healthy pland based foods right away and make your diet something you can stick for life instead of just eating potatoes. Variety is key and this just doesn’t seem smart. I’m dissapointed you promoting this kind of mindset about food and dieting and I’m going to unfollow you. Luckily there are a lot of vegan youtubers who promote healthy, self-loving and holistic lifestyles. Hope you all the best and keep on rocking what works for you.

  • I know this is an old video, but I am a newer subscriber and I am just seeing this for the first time. I am also plant based, but I am struggling to lose weight. Questionhave you kept this weight off, or did it come back after you reintroduced other foods back into your diet?

  • Frying potatoes removes all their nutrional benefits. And if you fried them in vegetable oil, that’s even worse. Vegetable oil is really hard on the liver. If you’re going to diet, shouldn’t you do some research first?

  • Well, I will tell you, before I finish watching your vid: I, too, lost weight without my stomach changing sizes much at all, and, in some cases, not at all. • Really. You need to pull yourLeggings down to the same level as you did in the before picture. So not a reliable scientific before and after.

  • Wow…. people are really going bananas in the comments about this video and it’s really for no good reason. It’s actually a perfectly healthy and an amazing way to reset your taste buds, manage cravings, and learn to listen to your body. You can eat greens and non starchy vegetables if you want as well. Some of those points should have been made, yes. But come-on people saying that your disappointed and going to unfollow her? That’s it’s extreme and a bad example? give me a beak, this isn’t the first video about eating potatoes and this movement has been around the block for a minute…. so simmer down. P.S. #ilovepotatoes #potatofries #potatoecakes #potatoesforthewin #nowimjustgonnaeatalltgepotatoes

  • OFFICIAL BRITISH INTENT:

Official British intent at the time is revealed by its actions and enactments. When the European potato crop failed in 1844 and food prices rose, Britain ordered regiments to Ireland. When blight hit the 1845 English potato crop its food removal regiments were already in Ireland; ready to start. The Times editorial of September 30, 1845, warned; “In England the two main meals of a working man’s day now consists of potatoes.” England’s potato-dependence was excessive; reckless. Grossly over-populated relative to its food supply, England faced famine unless it could import vast amounts of alternative food. But it didn’t grab merely Ireland’s surplus food; or enough Irish food to save England. It took more; for profit and to exterminate the people of Ireland.

Queen Victoria’s economist, Nassau Senior, expressed his fear that existing policies “will not kill more than one million Irish in 1848 and that will scarcely be enough to do much good.”6 When an eye-witness urged a stop to the genocide-in-progress, Trevelyan replied: “We must not complain of what we really want to obtain.”7 Trevelyan insisted that all reports of starvation were exaggerated, until 1847. He then declared it ended and refused entry to the American food relief ship Sorciére.

Thomas Carlyle; influential British essayist, wrote; “Ireland is like a half-starved rat that crosses the path of an elephant. What must the elephant do? Squelch it by heavens squelch it.” “Total Annihilation;” suggested The Times leader of September 2, 1846; and in 1848 its editorialists crowed “A Celt will soon be as rare on the banks of the Shannon as the red man on the banks of Manhattan.”

The immortal Society of Friends, the “Quakers,” did all in their power to save lives. But in 1847 they despaired and quit, upon learning that the Crown planned to perpetuate the genocide’s pretext; the British claim of “ownership” of Irish land. Quakers refused to facilitate the genocide by pretending (as Concern does re African genocides) it was an act of nature. In the 1870s; too late; British laws were enacted allowing the Irish to buy back the land of which Britain had robbed them. Twice-yearly payments were extracted from Ireland’s farmers until that “debt” was paid off in the 1970s. Ireland’s diet, since pre-history, has been meat, dairy products, grains, fruit and vegetables; latterly supplemented by potatoes. Central to its ancient legends are its livestock, reaping hooks, flails,8 querns, and grain-kilns and -mills.

The many Connacht grain-kilns and -mills shown on the Irish Ordnance Survey Map of 1837-1841 operated continually prior to, during the Starvation, and subsequent to it until the 1940s when they were observed still working. Local farmers dried and milled their grain not potatoes in them, and this oatmeal and flour were seized and exported by British forces. The “potato famine” Big Lie was underway and already denounced by John Mitchel in his United Irishman in 1847 (he was soon sent in chains to a Tasmanian death camp; but escaped). Fifty years later G.B. Shaw wrote in Man and Superman:

“Malone: ‘My father died of starvation in Ireland in the Black ’47. Maybe you’ve heard of it?’
    Violet: ‘The Famine?’

Malone: (with smoldering passion) ‘No, the Starvation. When a country is full of food and exporting it, there can be no Famine.”‘

But he kept mum on the British army’s role; Ireland’s whole-truth-tellers don’t receive Nobel Prizes. To date, the Big Lie prevails. It started in 1846 when, while the British government genocidally stripped Ireland of its abundant foodstuffs, internationally it was begging help for the “starving Irish.”

  • Don’t just eat potatoes. You should drink at least 6 bottles of water everyday, too. Here is the secret, water. I lost 3 pounds per day.

  • Wow, my mother’s nickname is Dana, and she tried this diet for a month and she lost 13kg… ps. add lower fat yogurt, it cleanses your body and makes you lose weight faster…

  • You Definitely Lost Some In Your Upper Arms Slimmer And More Proportioned. Congrats! I Want To Try This For At Least A Week or 10 Days.

  • I have currently been on a potatoe only (no yogurt no nothin but taters) diet for 5 days now and I’ve lost 6.6 lbs. But I have to say it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I’m a foodie so it’s been tough. Anyone looking for a challenge should DEFINITELY try this!

  • A small comment, you shouldn’t eat anything with potato, but you included yogurt! and a little salt is allowed, why you wrote not allowed. I think this is a modified potato diet:)

  • Day 3 Potatoes + Tea/Coffee + Sauces/spices sparingly. I could do this for a LONG time,as long as you switch up the flavors this is easy and awesome. To curb sugar cravings use stevia in tea.

  • “Dupe oauă “trec pe cartofi… am slabit 4 kg in 4 zile de regim cu oua.
