  • Excellent video, I learned a lot. I’ve had great success with Valerian Root Extract. Great for deep, natural sleep. I use the powdered form (not capsules).

  • I can see, that you’re a doctor by calling. It’s great to see somebody, who want to help people become the greatest version of themselves. Thanks

  • Hi Dr Michael Van,
Great stuff thank you for this information. Based on your experience and knowledge. Can you rank these in terms of side effects and efficacy? It would greatly help which to choose one from another. Thanks

  • hi Michael, are you familiar with Liposomal vitamines and in specific melatonin? Im personally finding that liposomal melatonin is, as of now, the best way to chelate heavy metals from the brain since it crosses the BBBarrier similar, but better, to ALA acid.

You can actually make your own liposomal vitamines using coconut oil. This would be a real cool video/series to make 😉

  • You were talking about a cooling pad. I cannot find where I saw it. My daughter is going to have cancer therapy, which will make her very hot at night. Would you please let me know the name. Thanks.

  • Most all of these supplements will lose their effect eventually and you’ll be back to square one. To my knowledge there are few to no exceptions to this. Also most prescription drugs, if used regularly and long-term, also result in homeostasis reasserting itself eventually. Thanks, nature. You suck.

  • I take 500mg of magnesium glycinate but it contains only 120 mg active magnesium.
So do I need to take 2 of those 500 mg pills to have 240mg of actual magnesium?

  • Are enteric coated omega 3 better than normal one? I’m getting normal one omega 3 at same price as emetic coated but amount of epa /dha is tripled in normal ones.

  • Do you think one can develop tolerance to melatonin? I ask because I used it 1 year ago and it stopped to help me to sleep after 2 weeks of use (one pill dosed at 1.8mg).. After stopping it for like 6 months same thing happened after restarting using it!

  • Great Video!!! This video has given me new ideas for my fitness channel! Cant wait to post my next video with this new insight!!

  • I’ve been lacking of a good rest from the time that I reached my adulthood. I am on day 7 of this sleep treatment solution and currently feel a lot better. I’d never ever assumed I am able to achieve Eight hours of rest again. The plan how to get rid of sleeping disorder is definitely remarkable. It says some explanations and a procedure for different cases of sleeping disorders. I`ve obtained quite a lot of medication plans to select from.. I researched Google and found this guidebook on a website.. It is Zoey Sυnodoz

  • I have to take medicines so I can sleep at night. This awful insomnia has bothered me for 9 months. I discovered this sleeping strategy from the doctor. In just 5 weeks of applying this sleeping program, I got the best sleep I never had. Individuals who have suffered with sleep problems for quite a while must also look at this. My sleeping has considerably improved! I discovered this guidebook on Google.. It calls Zoey Sυnodoz

  • i have puritan’s pride. im hoping this will.help me. most of the problem i have is staying asleep, i can only sleep 4 hours per day and i work through graveyard shift

  • Would be nice for them to tell people the blue light from their phones is what’s causing the sleep disorders and that melatonin prescribed is actually animal brain extract:(

  • So, once again, more doesn’t mean better.
That’s what I needed to hear.
I think I’ve been using too much Melatonin.
Too groggy in the morning hours.

  • It makes no sense talking about safety without considering the dose. Corticosteroid is also naturally produced, while intaking a high dose of it is bad for health.

  • I was once high at my friends house and there was a jar of gummies there I ate a lot of em and em, next thing I know is i woke the other day.

  • My friend’s dad recommended me naturekindness .com This has completely changed my life. My sleep cycle has improved and I feel energetic when I wake up.

  • How about me doing night duty 5 times a month can i take malatonin cause when i reach 52 years old my sleeping pattern was not good before. Im taking tab zestril 10mg maintenance dose for hypertension. Is it ok to take it without side effect or drug interactions. By the way my bp is controlled with meds.

  • I can’t even hear the word melatonin without my stomach turning anymore, anyone with a white blouse saying “take melatonin” is dr. mengele to me

  • I took melatonin for the first time when I was already sleepy. I wanted to see if it would help me go to bed faster. I took 2/3rds the recommended dose because it was my first time. I was so knocked out during sleep that I didn’t wake up to go to the bathroom and wet myself in my sleep.

  • so it helps with sleep, but it helps because it helps you “reset” your pattern/schedule therefore creating a normal more homoestasis fuckin kind of way of sleep right? so im guessing you want to take this at a specific fucking time. what time is that? before bed? so like i take it then lay down? or i take it, finish the wash, wash dishes blah blah 30-45 minutes later its now disolved in my shit NOW i lay down? ive heard people say to take it in the morning and evening
what the fuck is big pharma lmfao who invented big pharma i’d fucking smash him right now if i ever met him

  • I have problem staying asleep. Usually I’ll sleep for 4-6 hours and wake up in the middle of the night. More than often I’ll be woken up because of dreams. My mind will some joe realize it’s dreaming and I’ll wake up. And a soon as I wake up I know I was dreaming.

  • What is the deal with this dude? Why is he dressed like that? It is not enough that they gave his gredentials he has to be dressed in hospital clothes also? Ridiculous

  • not this guy again. Get out of my suggestions. we need to stop supporting disorders. this guy is juiced up beyond recognition, and lives off his parents wealth. its sad to watch. not even olympian athletes look like that. come on, use your brains people and wake up already.

  • FYI melatonin causes me to get dizzy as I fall asleep and groggy and dizzy the next day. Not all the time it’s a bit of a hit/miss thing. Just don’t be scared if it causes that.

  • Why couldn’t he just have worn normal clothes like we weren’t gonna believe he was a doctor. Even if you didn’t, someone can very well go buy scrubs and say “I’m a MD” when they’re not.

  • For the first time in my life I took melatonin last night and the night before, this morning I thought I died and if it wasn’t for the virus I would have gone to the ER boy oh boy I woke up so dizzy yesterday but gradually felt better but this morning the dizziness took a violent turn where it feels like I am in a rollocoaster! I am nauseous, I am terrified, this shit shouldn’t be OTC, that’s so crazy and irresponsible, I spent all day in bed because..well, rollocoaster still in bed..rollocoasting every half hour..u crazy anerica and I am crazier for trusting some shit like the FDA

  • Melatonin did absolutely nothing to me took 10 mg everyday sometimes 20 mg. Its basically the biggest placebo pill that has ever been produced

  • My friend’s dad recommended me naturekindness .com This has completely changed my life. My sleep cycle has improved and I feel energetic when I wake up.

  • Your body makes about 0.1 mg of melatonine. The people that can’t stand cafeïne need less melatonin. People with autism and ADHD have a problem with melatonin production. (Google for research melatonin autism/adhd) The rem sleep is too short and different, same for PTSD. It is worth trying melatonin under the supervision of a ‘good’ doctor. You do not have to believe me just read all the research papers about it.

  • For many years I have this sleep problems already where I awaken four AM early in the morning usually. But just these recent months, my sleeping time are merely 2 to 4 hours. It has become worse. This program has helped me a lot in improving my getting to sleep trouble. This is apart from knowing the fundamentals of sleeping. I discovered this guide on Google.. Name of the guidebook is Zoey Sυnodoz

  • Melatonin takes about 2 hrs to take effect in me and I wake up feeling super lazy! I wake up and go back to sleep like 5 times (over and over again) will stop taking it

  • My friend’s dad recommended me naturekindness .com This has completely changed my life. My sleep cycle has improved so much and I feel energetic when I wake up.

  • There is some truth here… yet melatonin has helped me many times. However, it eventually always stops working for me and does the opposite as intended (keeps me awake). Theanine keeps me awake because it makes your mind crystal clear and alert. Glycine I’ve had mixed results with. Magnesium is the best option here. I’ve had a lot of luck with that before bed

  • What is this bullshit melitonin saved me. It’s like people saying don’t take weed it’s horrible for you ummm not if you have PTSD or another health issue. People should really see as insomnia as a bad thing. Meletonin is actually really good for the body! People want to say it’s bad because it actually works. And pharmaceutical companies want to tell a lie saying over the counter stuff doesn’t work bullcrap over the counter melitonin has helped me alot.

  • I knew it was too good to be true… been using melatonin SPARINGLY for the last year or so… mostly to cheat when I’ve had caffeine after 6pm… good to know magnesium is a great alternative!

  • Well i cant sleep well at all and im 34 and try to work out 3 times a week but i dont go out much and spend time in the sun cause i dont have work or day rutin even thought im trying to get it back so i can wakeup at 6-8 with fully energy to study or find a good job but i cant do none of that since i wake up so tired after 4-6 hours of sleep and wanting to sleep 2 hours more but do and stay in bed 3 hours and maybe fall a sleep after that or not and wakeup and eat breakfast and then feel tired again and take 1-2 hours napp well all my day is a disaster and i need help with this problem:(((

why does my brain keep me awake and alert like im now while writing this comment and dont feel tired until 02-03 and i cant go back to feeling tired at 22 or 23 like 10 years ago???

please can somebody help me im so tired of this hell and wanna come out from it?

  • I’ve taken melatonin, gaba, magnesium citrate, valerian supplements, chamomile tea so far nothing helps
Sometimes I’m still awake after 1:00 am to get up at 5:30 to go to work.
I wish you could suggest some supplements!

  • I hear it’s been studied as blocking receptors for covid-19. Although I was prescribed it for sleep. They also prescribed vitamin D which I was low on and is good against covid.

  • for me the solution was a mix of Melatonin before sleep, magnesium and gaba throughout the day + no caffeine after 3 PM.. sadly i didn’t find any other solution that helped my sleep…

  • I haven’t tried melatonin in years and am desperate to tale something for my insomnia other than the Lunesta I take once or twice a week. Magnesium/potassium alone hasn’t helped. I just bought melatonin and l-theanine to take. We will see what happens and I will alternate with nights of magnesium and l-theanine and see how it goes. I used to have glycine in the house and may have to try that again too.

  • short term melatonin can be SO useful. I have used the alternatives he mention, they are good. I also think Tryptophan in the 1.5 mg range at bedtime can be useful, also you can take liposomal GABA. you can use many of these to create a better, coordinated effect. I think that he’s a hater a bit, the research is still very preliminary, and he’s using emotional language, telling me he’s got a dog in the fight. the most important thing is to get your sleep improved, lack of sleep is much more damaging than overdosing on melatonin could ever be. down the road, when your in a good sleep cycle, then you can back off on the supplements. I went through a long cycle of sleep deprivation and it really messed up my sleep and my nervous system overall, I was so thankful when I got going on all this, it really helped me recover and even upgrade my sleep cycles, and had a huge positive impacton my overall life. I don’t use them all the time but keeping a good sleep rhythm is, I think, a huge health benefit.

  • I am a really poor sleeper and need help. Difficult to fall asleep, difficult to stay asleep. Searching for answers! So what kind of magnesium is recommended? Glycinate Citrate Malate? What’s best and how do they differ? How soon before going to bed should they be taken?

  • I take ZMA really hard to know if it works. I’d love Thomas to do a video on this but I’d love to hear your opinions too. Thanks guys x

  • Well the long term affects are caused by using this melatonin supplement for long periods of time if you want to reset your sleep schedule you just take it for a short period of time and get off of it, that way there are no long term affects

  • In my experience, melatonin works great for 2 or 3 nights, then it kinda stops working and if continued will just made sleep onset worse… but it’s handy to keep a bottle in the house for an occasional use. As for Theanine… it makes me very alert and that pretty much guarantees no sleep. Glycine gives me a better REM sleep (have to take tons, like 3 or 4 grams), but that’s assuming I get to sleep to begin with. It doesn’t seem to do much in the sense of sleep onset. Magnesium glycinate is good for sleep, and worked for me for about 3 months then just kinda stopped. Not sure why. Maybe my mag levels were at a healthy point and it nolonger aided for sleep. Shrugs. It always helps with anxiety though. Personally, I recommend tryptophan and some vitamin b6 (active form only). It’s the only thing that consistently works for me and doesn’t cause a hangover effect the next day. But I’m always experiments with new sleep aids to find something better. Unisom works like a charm, but I save it for occasional use like the melatonin

  • Hi Thomas, I know you mean well, but the information supporting this video is flawed. Melatonin supplements have about 20% availability at best! Also, there is no feedback loop with melatonin, pls see the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTdOecqG6Ls

Also, Calcium lactate is even morer relaxing than Magnesium, try it!

  • The only thing that ever worked for me was Ornithine. Hulda Clarke recommended it when doing her liver-gallbladder flush, to sleep through the night. I take 3 capsules every 2 to three days days. Sleeping 6-8 hours now compared to 3-5.

  • Hey Thomas, now that you’re in the subject of sleep. Could you review if blue light blocking glasses work for increasing melatonin and reversing metabolic syndrome? There’s new studies out there that we need to be blocking ALL light and not just blue light so essentially these glasses being sold on the internet also doesn’t work.

  • Is this dude a doctor or is he repeating information he read it was told? Does he really understand what he’s saying to people? Got people coming off of hard drugs who have to deal with restlessness and insomnia. People with severe insomnia also benefit from it. This isn’t a supplement you want to take regularly, you want to take it as needed and not everyday.

  • Please check you facts, Melatonin is not only permitted over the counter in the U.S. I live in Austria and I get it in every drugstore and farmacy, same in spain. I think in Germany you can also get it over the counter, but they are not allowed to label it as sleep aid but only as food supplement.

  • Try 30 minutes of rigorous activity like speed cleaning then shower and bed. I know it seems like that’ll wake you up but you’ll sleep like a baby. I can barely keep my eyes open after scrubbing my kitchen floor and a hot shower. Zzzzz

  • You can take a dose of 0,1mg of melatonin as well you know. No reason to take 3mg. And magnesium… I hear that in the west we have enough of it in our body (although I also use it as supplement).

  • Very nice video. I have criticized Thomas sometimes, but I very highly value that he takes the courage to speak on topics most people would not.

  • Thank u so very much 4 d detailed explanation, I just love psychoneurology and Im wondered how magical our brains n it’s different parts are. Thank u so very much 4 helping us! ⭐✌

  • By making use of this program, I was able to get away with this dreadful insomnia of which I thought is hopeless already. You must not skip using this sleep strategy or plan. At the beginning, I found this program to be unrealistic but I tested it anyhow. There’s no harm using it anyhow. I got this tip on Google.. Name of the tip is Zoey Sυnodoz

  • I just took three pills of melatonin and slept like a baby. I work on the railway overnights and for the life of me could not get used to the hrs for sleep. Average 2.5 hrs a day. Today with melatonin I slept for 5 hrs straight.

In Canada you can buy Melatonin in the vitamin section of most stores.

  • It’s not that you sleep faster or longer it’s that you sleep deeper. I am speaking as a person who sleeps very light and generally doesn’t feel rested. It’s not worth the draw backs tho

  • Available over the counter in many countries, not “only in the US”. Bad info there. Plus, hardly any hangover from melatonin, contrary to what is asserted here.

  • I used Zolpidem for 21 years. I tapered by myself, maybe a bit too quick. Had rebound insomnia for 2 months. Started taking prescription Melatonin to fix my circadian rhythm, then I noticed I was losing visceral fat around the abdomen without even trying. If you start researching this, you realize it is connected. Don’t ever take Zolpidem, it’s addictive and makes you fat.

  • The jury is still out on this and still lot of conflicting science. For example, w/quick google see 3 studies referenced in this article show no significant side effects. Granted it’s always better to not add to bio-chem mix however a lot find help w/Melatonin on sleep. Btw, I can attest to Glycine and Magnesium as well. Would also add Taurine, Ornithine, Theanine and Phosphaldyl Serine (PS) to the mix.
Reference article w/internal links to studies. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/melatonin-side-effects#section1

  • Melatonin is available just about everywhere grocery store, department store, on the shelves in pharmacies etc. Not certain I understand your highly regulated statement.

  • top choices:
    1.passion flower,lemon balm or skullcap.
2.Zenbev drink mix is an organic sleep aid made from pumpkin seeds.
3.epsom salt bath has magnesium in it
4.probiotic -good stomach bacteria ( gut brain connection)
    5.ashwagandha after exhaustion
6.foods with high fibre example: kiwi
7.eating 1-2 boiled eggs have B vitamins before sleep

  • You forgot to mention that bioavailability of melatonin for 2mg or 4mg oral tablets is only 15% of the original dose. So technically, if you are taking 2mg tablet you’re only getting 0.3mg into ur blood. Thank for looking into this.

  • Melatonin is definitely addictive
Found myself pulling 3 3mcg pills at night. Best sleep ever but had to just stop because I realized the dependency

  • I have had great luck with melatonin.  I def. don’t experience a melatonin hang over.  I always had a hang over feeling before I started taking melatonin!   I only take.5-1.5 mg and I feel like I sleep better through the night.  I feel more rested when I wake up and better throughout the day.  I started hearing about the side affects and have been weening myself off.  Now that I’m off I feel like crap again from poor sleep…

  • I like your videos and have learned a lot but I can’t agree with this one. Try reading Dr. Michael Colgan’s books hormonal health and Ultimate Sports Nutrition. As you state, Melatonin is a hormone and it does sit at the top of what he (Colgan) refers to as the hormone cascade. So, it is true that taking melatonin does affect all other hormones. This is why you have to test and monitor how much you take based on your current levels. A key take away is that melatonin levels start to drop in your 30’s and drop drastically between age 50 and 70. This is why it is so important to supplement it. But, you supplement based on what your level is and what is considered normal for say a 30 year old adult. It is most likely not healthy to be taking 10mgs per night just to knock yourself out and get sleep. Just my thoughts on the subject.

  • i just bought some that were 10MG and i took two, i slept amazing, but i did feel slightly hungover, gonna just try and train myself to sleep better and less screen time before bed

  • NOT TRUE. There is NO scientific evidence that lack of sleep causes any health issues. Stop the fear mongering and get a real sleep doctor who can attest to this and get you on the right track with sleep restriction therapy.

  • After trying multiple tests, i finally found organic and natural solution that has helped me sleep better. I work in the corporate and it is really hectic. For people who were asking me, its from the brand naturekindness .com

  • If they are so worried about melatonin then how about coming out with melatonin enhancer that way it would produce more verses synthetic adding in to your body other wise quite complaining about people taking it makes sense to me

  • I always wake up in the middle of the night like this week like everynight and i go back to sleep at like 5-6am and wake up at 4am and i drank melatonin 2 hours ago and its kicking in and im sleepy now

  • We have insomnia because we work unnatural jobs doing unnatural hours where you have to work all the hours in the day just to make rent and if you cant afford it then beat it. The system is running people into the ground, burning people out, causing all manner of illnesses both physical and mental all over the world. Where does it stop, we are all now being over taken by the spirit of materialism and its leading us all astray. Life isn’t about having a big house, flash car and as much stuff to fill that house as possible. Life is about being good to your neighbour help out your fellow human being. The things in this life, the so called trappings of wealth so called because they end up trapping you, all this material wealth ends up owning you and wears your soul out and makes you empty and sad inside, we can’t satisfy our souls long term by the earthly things of this world. All the evil in the world has its roots in money, money is dividing us and killing us and its keeping the poor poorer and the rich richer. The human body if it for example rose up at day break, worked outside in the fresh air with family or members of the community and doing so working up an appetite and also now being able to sleep at night from all the fresh air and physical activity all the while keeping your physical body and mind in shape and in good working order, our bodies and minds are crying out for this and we all know this but the way the world is now some people are inclosed in cubicles, starring at computers all day getting no natural light, stressed out working jobs that are not benefiting the planet long term. We all know this planet is spinning out of control and it will crash and burn just like we humans are crashing and burning. This life is short but the next goes on for eternity and the choices we make in this life will determine where we end up in the next. Respond to that inner voice inside of you to do the right thing, because its God speaking to your heart, let’s not keep rejecting him in order to do that sin we all know it’s wrong but we do it any way. Choose God, reject the sin, because let’s be reall none of us can say we feel any more enlightened or better inside from it. Our sins left unchecked will damb us to hell, our own soul when it’s shown all the unconfessed sins they committed and all the grace from God it rejected in their life, it’s our own soul that will choose hell because it will deem itself not worthy of heavan. We need to make sure we have a good relationship with jesus before we die because our will is fixed to whatever state it’s in when alive and if we die full or sin or being indifferent to God then you run the risk of your own soul dambing you to hell. A sobering quote from jesus “my people perish for lack of knowledge” we need to educate ourselves on the faith and repent of sin and turn to jesus and ask him into our lives once again because we are all living in a Godless society and when you kick God out of the world he will honour this decision because we all have free will but when he is kicked out then the world is no longer under his protective grace and now the devil creeps in and spreads his evil ways spreading death and misery every where. Invite jesus in to your life, because this one ends for all of us at some stage, wouldn’t it be a good idea to have a good relationship with the one who holds the keys to both heaven and hell, invite jesus in and give him your life because he gave you his life on the cross.

  • Tried 10mg of melatonin. It was horrible. I was experiencing chest pains and always ended up getting shortness of breath right before going to bed. It lasted for 2 months while I was taking it, since i had problems sleeping. Enough time passed and I did some research, turns out melatonin can cause shortness of breathe and chest pains. I stopped taking it and swapped it out with cbd instead. I now sleep better without any side effects.

  • What? That didn’t say anything at all. I know melatonin is the only thing I’ve tried that helps ke and believe me I’ve tried alot of stuff throughout the years. Not saying that it works for everybody but it may help some.

  • I used 5 15 milligrams of melatonin every night for about 5 years. I quit recently and noticed I don’t need as much sleep. When I was taking melatonin I needed 9 or 10 hours of sleep but now I only need 8 hours.

  • do not listen to this factoid. it sounds like someone had to meet a deadline for a soundbyte. read wiki page on melatonin and decide for yourself…. very effective and few side effects. get your sleep!

  • 10 mg of this stuff and I’m drowsy and tired all day and having nightmares. 5 mg seems much better for me. Still get the vivid dreams but not so groggy in the morning and the amount of sleep I can get really feels like I slept longer even though it was just 7 and a half hours. Also feels like the body is actually repairing a lot more muscle damage and irritation too.

  • Reduce stress levels toxic relationships, bad company etc get rid of such people in your life find hobbies you enjoy to boost your mood reduce stress, gets rid of the negative thoughts patterns increases positive thoughts

  • Melatonin is probably only of benefit above 55 yr of age. But will not “make you fall asleep”. The number one reason for chronic insomnia is a chronic activated sympathetic tone and not melatonin deficiency. Of course getting your circadian rhythm right is important but it will take more than just a pill

  • I need a heavyweight boxing champ to give me a good left and right hook to the face every night and then stomp on my head for good measure.

  • For all dumb asses who ask why this video says melatonin is not good, than what is good then…the idea is to go spend money at Mayo Clinic you mofos!

  • Took 12mg of melatonin and had the worst night terror of my life, I literally woke up screaming and thought I was going to die. Also, got the most intense vivid dream of my life. Saw a beautiful snowy grassland/forest, ran through it and saw some nice ladies in bikinis sitting near the waters. Absolutely looked and convinced it was real. I liked the vivid dream but the night terror was terrifying. I’m scared to touch it again, lol.

  • I spend a third of my life TRYING to sleep and when I do I wake up in cold sweats like a panic attack. This video gave me no help I could use.

  • If you go down the melatonin route, be careful. It does work at first, but then you start feeling tired when you wake up. This is also known as ‘melatonin hangover’ and honestly it freakin sucks. Herbal supplements are a little more expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

  • I really don’t recommend if you are diagnosed with depression or think you have depression. It really does worsen the simptoms I wish I never took them cause now I’m in physical pain now and mentally. so yeah

  • I had terrible insomnia for Nine months, the only method I can sleep was by taking medications. I got this “Yοyο Fawam” (Google it) sleeping program from a physician. Just after Five weeks, I achieved the very best sleep of my life. Folks who have endured insomnia for a very long time should consider this. My sleeping habit every night has improved drastically..

  • Informative Video but too short Lol. Guys if you are ordering something online make sure this is from a legit person, i have someone i’ve known for years. Her name is Ana, she’s from California and she’s a very good person. She helped me a lot with Ambien to sleep and with pain Killers also especially Perks. Go Ahead and leave her a message, she will surely help you also. [email protected] yahoo.com

  • These so called medical practitioners have been responsible for so much disinformation that they are no longer credible. Look at the effects of the dietary guidelines approved by the government and backed by these doctors, an epidemic of obesity and diabetes in record numbers never before seen in history. They make these claims on unfounded anecdotal and observational studies. The only studies worthwhile are clinically controlled double blind studies with control groups and with peer reviewed results.

  • all I learned was this video was stupid…. they said don’t taste melatonin, but didn’t recommend anything…. what a waste of time

  • No but thats what Paul said idk but dont pay no mind to that. I apologize sir. But ive been abused by him whenever my mama was married to him. And he knew what he did wrong!!!

  • Magnesium actually works I take 3 mag pills at night, which equals 420mg. I use to take (trazodone) at the highest and honestly it’s like the same without the hunger

  • Hi, just found your channel and subscribed. Short history: Have been suffering from chronic intemittent insomnia for almost a year. My first approach was to attack the problem from a mineral defficiency perspective: magnesium, potassium etc in addition to other supplements like gaba and malatonin. The latter two supplements probably didn’t help or actually made the problem worse but i feel the magnesium has helped somewhat but certainly not a cure. Also use strong b vitamins (including 1,5 and 6) and at least 5000iu of vit d per day. Blood tests showed a zinc defficiency so corrercted that also. I did try some sleeping meds for very short periods of time but none really actually worked except for diazapam (which they refused to continue giving because of the risk of addiction understandably). My question is concerned with the adaptogenic properties of ashwaganda. I was taking ashwaganda also but stopped since i know that ashwaganda lowers prolactin which you would think is a good thing right? Especially since most guys have a problem with having too much. Not so since my blood tests showed I have hypoprolactinemeia (low blood prolactin). Is it okay to start taking the ashwaganda again since the term adaptogen implies that if a persons prolactin is low it will help the body ADAPT to balance it by increasing it. The term adaptogen implies that if ones prolactin is high it will lower it and if it is low will help increase it to put it in balance but not sure wether to take the risk.

  • I also would have picked these 3 supplements for sleep. Great choice. I would add valerian/hops and Tryptophan (on an empty stomach) to these 3 supplements.

  • Very legitimate explanations. All of them work great. Thanks for sharing precious knowledge. Please tell about safety of melatonin supplementation.

  • I’ve found magnesium glycinate to help me fall asleep but not stay asleep as I always wake up after 6 hours when the effect wears off

  • Christopher walker! plz make a video on accutane side effects nd how to recover from it’s side effects.why we feel depressed, suicidal thoughts, erectile dysfunction, even type 2 diabetes on accutane consumption..? does it reduce 5 alpha reductase enzyme and lower testosterone? i request you…make a full lenghty video on this topic nd elaborate our knowledge

  • Yes its true magnesium works pretty well. Personally, the magnesium glycinate form is truly the best form. Also the Schuessler magnesium tissue salts (number 8) are also very good, especially in combination with normal magnesium supplements.

  • Good morning Chris,I’m always making oxtails for bone broth, can yoy use that for glycine and can you drink it before bedtime and how much should I drink,I do magnesium chloride oil for my legs and certain body organs before sleep and yes I take a half a tsp.of ashwagandha?

  • My friend’s dad recommended me naturekindness .com This has completely changed my life. My sleep cycle has improved so much and I feel energetic when I wake up.

  • Thanks. Wow, I was going to head out for some melatonin later today. Guess not; the sleep struggle is REAL, but the search continues.

  • so what is the recommended dose to take if i weigh 68 kg, male 34 years old and sleep 3-5 hours everynight and wakeup tired and cant fall back to sleep sometimes or stay in bed for 2-3 hours cause im so tired and fall back to sleep 2-3 hours and wakeup around 10 or 11 and still feel tired and grogy and miss the day…

and what should i tell my doctor and wrong him about testing my glan to see if i have to much fluoride or not? i dont think he would be so happy to send me for such test cause of the cost of the lab and instead just tell me to take melatonin and its not dangerous and i cant get addicted://// please help me someone?

  • have sciatica nerve pain I’m using him supplement like Biko Coliseum glucosamine and I’m using amitriptyline to sleep I’m not getting to sleep so right now I’m getting a tingling in my back please help me with some other medication

  • CBD right before bed improves the REM sleep cycle and brain detoxification. THC on the other hand helps you to fall asleep faster but it inhibits deep sleep/REM sleep stages. This is why high THC cannabis suppresses dreams and dream recall…
I smoke high CBD/low THC cannabis right before bed and have the most vivid dreams and restorative sleep I have ever had in my life!

  • Hey doctor, I dont have a pineal gland due to a tumor removal. Would you recommend I take melatonin or should other parts of my brain make up for the gland being gone?

  • I work overnight and when I get home in the am all I think of is doing house chores. Took 3 melatonin pills today and slept like a baby. I’ll take my risks:). Still enjoy your videos Dr Berg

  • I recently found out that EMR (coming from wifi, 4G-5G, cell phones, etc) is highly disrupting (to say the least) the melatonin production.
Dr. Berg….What new recommendation would you have for today nearing 2020?

  • Dr. Berg is being overly cautious with melatonin. I disagree with his comments on supplementation. Melatonin can be viewed less as a hormone per se and more as a master molecule, one that can cross the blood-brain barrier and has access to every single cell in the human body. What’s more, it’s a master anti-oxidant. In fact, the antioxidant capacity of vitamin A, C, E is only 1 to 1; melatonin is 10-1 in free-radical scavenging. Melatonin protects not only the pineal gland but also the optical tissue that Dr. Berg referenced. Because we’re not getting enough daily sun exposure and because our environments are flooded with blue light well past sundown, most of us are not generating an adequate level of melatonin naturally and need to supplement to achieve restful sleep. However, I don’t agree that the pineal gland stops producing melatonin due to supplementation or that we become dependant on supplementation as a result. My own experience having used melatonin off and on for the past 6 years doesn’t bare this out. I would go as far as to say that an anti-ageing protocol is not complete without melatonin in the list of daily supplements, in excess of 10mg/night.

  • Isnt melatonin considered a vitamin though? If melatonin is a hormone then so are all vitamins because your giving your body pills/gummies etc it already can produce naturally.

  • That’s really sad that people don’t go outside. Seriously? I hate being sick inside. I usually spend my entire day outside, weather permitting, with my kids. That’s a sad life to never go outside if you are physically able.

  • I’ve been taking Melatonine for 14years (or so) every night, starting at 1mg.
I now take between 6mg-8mg (it’s huge) just to hopefully get 5h of sleep.
I feel ultra groggy in the morning, I can’t hold a job for more than 2 months.
I tampered down melatonine but sleep was reduced, and it’s not efficient enough.
I know the quickest way to “reset” hormonal senstitivities is to fast, and so I did, I held about 2 days until I ate (3 sleepless nights in a row, couldn’t take it anymore and ate on the morning of the third day).
Fasting is incredible though, my melatonine sensitivity did come back, I’m now back to 1.5mg per night.

  • You can find this guide, a sleeping treatment solution that in some way gets results. At a young age I already have got this sleeping disorder. Of virtually all treatment plans I have tested out, this plan is the only one that successfully broke the cycle of my own insomnia. I put to use this guidebook consistently and also been able to accomplish my own objective of acquiring a much better sleep.. I researched this guidebook on Google.. Name is Zoey Sυnodoz
    take care

  • I’ve recently been deprived of a good sleep from the time that I reached my adulthood. This sleeping strategy has shown me good results even on my very first 7 days of usage. I assumed there is no solution to this situation I have. I believed acquiring 8 hours of sleep is unattainable to get. This strategy is just amazing. It reveals several factors along with a treatment for diverse conditions of sleep problems. I`ve received quite a lot of treatment programs to pick from.. I discovered Google and found this guide on a website.. Name of the guide is Zoey Sυnodoz
    take care

  • For more than 10 years already, insomnia has been part of my life. Nonetheless by the help of this sleep program, I was able to gain a great sleep every night. I can right now sleep for Eight hours. I`m sleeping as good that I haven’t even done the plan. The program has completely eliminated my sleeping disorder. Thanks a lot to this treatment plan. Good luck, you will get the results, find it on Google. It calls Zoey Sυnodoz
    take care

  • I have been taking melatonin for 15 years. I started out at half a milligram, and even that was too much. Now I cant even get tired without 2mg. So I guess the pineal gland has shutdown entirely lol

  • I will condense this video down…DONT take Melatonin long term…for very brief use it is ok but long term will make your bodies natural production of Melatonin stop which is very bad….similar to how TRT stops your body from producing Testosterone.

  • Melatonin is prescribed also for orther health issues-maybe the pineal will start producing melatonin again as soon as you stop taking it? And is it true that the production decreases with aging?

  • Because insomnia I had wasn`t severe, and so I didn`t take it significantly. Not till 5 years after in which it is now the most awful problem. It is already a very good sleep for me personally if I am able to sleep at night for Three hours. Regularly, I could not make myself to get sleep the whole night. I tested this particular program. Right on the spot, only on that moment only, I experienced excellent benefits. Within just a week I was sleeping 4-7 hrs every evening. And it carries on to enhance a whole lot better as I continuously make use of the treatment program. I got this guidebook on Google.. It calls Zoey Sυnodoz
    take care

  • Quick question, could I have trouble sleeping because I hang out in the dark all day? Like I get no light and play games. But if I keep lights on during the day I should be more tired when I turn the lights off? Been taking melatonin 5mg from webber’s and it does help me sleep. Not sure if that made sense..

  • I`ve been an insomnia patient for several years. Nevertheless by the help of this sleep program, I was able to get a great sleep every evening. I can now sleep for Eight hours. I`m resting perfectly that I haven’t even done the plan. The program has absolutely eradicated my sleeping disorder. Thanks a lot to this treatment plan. I researched Google and found this tip on a website.. It calls Zoey Sυnodoz
    take care

  • I have been taking melatonin for 5 days now. The first two nights were good sleep. The dreams were a little odd though. Nights 3, 4 & 5 the dreams became horrifying and I slept less and less. I also experienced most of the side effects listed on other websites. This is dangerous.

  • when i take Melatonin in the morning or after or night it messed up all my body i can’t sleep i have serious headaches i have to stop it using it

  • and yeah i took 3mg capsule last night and i fell asleep so quickly but the problem was i had a terrible dream like I was riding in a roller coaster then isuddenly it was like falling. Little bit scary specially if you’re claustrophobic like me.

  • I know sleeping is very important for losing weight. What if i have a nap at night but not at night? But i still get my 8hours sleep, but not always sleeping at night

  • Can’t believe that I found this channel. Literally the most honest DR talking about fluoride. I steam distil all my water and it also goes through an activated charcoal filter. Keep spreading the good message sir.

  • Great, I took 5 10 mg of Malatonin tabs. I have sleep paralysis and I under my blanket I woke up but couldn’t move. In my dream, I was in the back of a WW2 jeep under a potato sack and heard the British soldiers saying ‘keep the wheel steady lads’, but I was a German soldier.

Otherwise, my cousin jumped on me and started tickling me and I felt it until I woke up. And my cousin lived in another state. The same night, I hid my face in pillows with air to breath so I didn’t see anything but I woke up unable to move and a beautiful woman beyond any beauty before was staring at me through the cracks. I was able to moan get off of me as I barely was able to turn my head and suffocate myself to wake up.

It would have been real enjoyable, if I wasn’t worried first that her face would turn into some creepy zombie demon ready to eat me knowing I was asleep and couldn’t move… awake.

  • I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion, and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

  • What if you have a deficiency problem with melatonin plus insomnia plus stress, and you can’t find around that and you trying to avoid the chemical sleeping pills, would it still be recommended? Dose it becomes dependent?

  • I recommend Tryptophan, which is the the natural essential amino acid the pineal gland needs to make melatonin. Some of the sleep issues are even just a lack of this raw material. Try Turkey Sleep.

  • It doesn’t stop natural production of melatonin within the body BUT it does desensitize the melatonin receptors making it less effective.

  • But can’t your body be deficient in Melatonin? I know some drugs harm the pineal gland making it produce less Melatonin. I take Melatonin for three weeks at a time and then go without, for a week. I have/ had insomnia due to chronic pain.

  • When I get 30 minutes of sun I have the most vivid dreams and this numnuts isn’t explaining the most important physiology about our Pineal Gland. It secretes DMT as well as Melatonin and DMT is 1000s of times more significant than Melatonin….Yes I’m a physician.

  • I took melatonin for the last 3 weeks and slept very well. But I’m pre diabetic trying to get my glucose down and wondering why all of a sudden my glucose was shooting up in the morning even when I was fasted. I found an article that said that access melatonin causes insulin to go down. So if you’re diabetic be careful. I’ve stopped taking it

  • I have a problem to sleep I take the melatonin every night but still, I can’t sleep and I work 8 hours every day I so tired but still, I cannot follow sleep I turn the tv off and lights the half hour before I go to bed I guess so much headache sometimes I sleep only two our sometimes I think I’m losing my job because I’m not sleeping enough. thanks, DR.Eric Berg I don’t know what to do if you can give me some idea.
