  • How do you feel about cooking with coconut oil? I plan to try avocado oil next. I use olive oil for salads. Who knows if I’m getting the good stuff. I will keep your tips in mind next time I buy. Thanks!

  • The world’s Best pure Olive Oil comes from GALILEE GREEN, Israel. It’s worth it. Doesn’t get any fresher or outer. Go to their website and you can get one tin with a glass decanter and shipping for around 40 bucks. You’ll love it!!!

  • I am going to have to disagree with you thomas on this one. california ranch evoo is considered one of the best evoos in the world and is made in northern california. you can buy for $9.95 for 500ml. A good evoo does not have to be made in europe and over $10.00 a bottle.

  • i’ve never heard anyone say you can’t cook with olive oil, you just got to make sure you’re not cooking with it at high temp due to the the fact that it will burn. But this video was odd. I’ve been using olive oil or evoo.

  • to know if it’s true virgin olive oil let it in a cold place if it’s genuine will turn into dense clearer mass inside of it with the top more liquid it will look like is changing texture and color. Actually the texture will change itself, similar to what happen with the organic honey.
If you put it in a cold place and it remains unchanged is less quality.
Never overheat olive oil better cook all at low fire

  • Have you been drinking Alyssa?? You pronunciate VEEERRY SLOOOOW!!!
Ummm Ma’am Liscence, Registration, and Proof of Registration. Please
Step Out of the vehicle. Do you know why I flagged your video Ma’am???

  • Why compare saturated FAT which comes from animals to plant OILS that obviously come from plants lol…nothing alike on a nutrition profile. Oils are not fats and it’s time we move past that common misconception

  • The King of Broscience is back at it again with his nonsense trying to push his affiliate links. The truth is there is no such thing as a healthy cooking oil, you never want to separate fat from it’s fiber. Free-based fats like oils cause something caused post-prandial hyperlipidemia, or also known as “sludge blood”, where your blood stream gets flooded with fat cells causing the blood to thicken; which as you’d imagine is extremely bad for cardiovascular health. Stay away from all cooking oil or at the minimum use as little as possible if you’re truly looking for optimal health.

  • Lovely video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you thought about Setackson Dumbstruck Scheme (just google it)? It is a good one of a kind product for understanding how to give women amazing orgasims minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my work colleague at last got excellent success with it.

  • EVOO I take in a shot glass and swirl it around my tongue and down it. You should taste olives in that oil. My method is better than ingesting a spoonful.

Most counterfeit olive oils are either canola oil mixed with chlorophyll or cheap olive oil mixed with canola oil. Now look at the label. If it states that the oil is a mix from several countries avoid it. It’s crap. Genuine EVOO should come from one region or province. Look at the label for a seal of approval from a governing body from the country of origin along with independent bodies.

To that end head to Trader Joe’s. There’s one EVOO from Sicily that fits the bill beautifully. Much cheaper is one from California. There no government body that awards it a seal of approval however there is a seal of authenticity from an independent body. Forgive me I forget the brand names of each right now. I’ll get back to you all on that.

  • I like Terra Delyssa Extra virgin olive oil. Packaged in dark amber glass bottles with both the press date and expiration date clearly stamped. Slight peppery taste but not harsh. Seems to check all the boxes. And it’s available at a Walmart in my area for less then $10 for a large bottle. My guess for the low price is Walmart and their volume plus Terra Delyssa is a Tunisian olive oil, which Tunisia has a long history of olive’s and olive oil. But not the name recognition of the more familiar Italian and Spanish brands. https://www.terradelyssa.com/home

  • There’ a great article on Dr.Axe com nutrition olive-oil-benefits.
It says high-heat cooking would create advanced glycation end products that can speed the aging process.
So I use virgin coconut-oil & bone broth fat for heating.
It also says real virgin olive oil would solidify in fridge.

  • I am from Spain where most people cook with olive oil. The quality of oil here might be better than there but it is said not cook with extra virgin olive oil but instead to use refined olive oil precisely because the virgin has polyphenols and other stuff that will oxidize. I don’t think the refined olive oil here is already oxidized as the bottles will often list the peroxide index and other undesirable products.
Sometimes the lack of throat stinging can be due to the variety, most would sting but my favorite one from Arbequina olives doesn’t and has almost no bitterness either but a nutty and somewhat fruity flavor. But most of the time you are right, it should be harsh on the throat.
I believe that olive oil is what lies behind Spanish longevity and definitely felt worse during a time I switched to sunflower oil due to cost (1/2 to 1/3 cheaper). Avocado oil is rare and really expensive here.

  • Honestly, at first, I was a little turned off by the small shirt, spiky haircut, etc.. I felt that this was going to be another one of those “You need to buy this” type of video by someone who is so different from myself. But I persevered and held on. And doing so, I was very much impressed. Thank. You.

  • I live in Spain. We use olive oil for absolutely everything: dressing, cooking, frying… really there are people who think you can’t cook with it? It’s perfect for cooking!

  • This guy is talking about “health” while talking about consuming animal products which are extremely bad for you like eggs and chicken what a joke

  • I’ve run out of patience with olive oil. Now I just eat a stupefying volume of organic olives I’m very happy with my olives.
The oils I maintain at my skillet are 1) avocado 50% of the time, then 2) Ghee, 3) coconut oil, 4) bacon fat.
Then insuring a positive Omega 3 balance, supplementing with Cod Liver oil, Krill Oil and sardines & Mackerel.
    Down with inflammation!!

  • Thomas, I’m just getting into health, been into keto for a week and doing amazing. My sister has been watching a bunch of “nutrition” channels on YouTube for a long time and believes she knows things. She claims avocado and coconut oil are bad because they are very processed, salt is venom, all that stuff. I’m looking for videos where you touch these subjects. Any recommendations? ❤️

  • Maybe she’s allergic to latex and not the olive oil…maybe he’s sleeping with other people. I use olive oil occasionally and never had a problem with my downstairs area. I also use coconut oil and flaxseed gel, both more natural than ky jelly.

  • I never comment or ask for advice. But Dr Axe, is there any healthy oil to use in a deep frier or should we be using air frier’s? Example: fried pickles and chicken nuggets. In almond flower.

  • Listen there are two types of olive oil. You Americans used the ones you cook with, that is a no no. In Jamaica we have an olive oil that’s in a small 1oz -4oz bottle, we use it to lotion our bodies not private part though. It makes your skin so soft and young, especially persons with ashy skin. He is using it in the wrong place and wrong type of olive oil. My bad we use it as consecrated, meaning we bless it that is the ones we use in churches. DO NOT USE THE COOKING OLIVE OIL. Plain and simple. Am out

  • Funny, I recently started using the the Simply Nature Organic avocado oil that you can get at Aldi’s and this video prompted me to run out to the kitchen and give it a sniff. It definitely does not smell like anything, let alone bacon. Don’t know what to tell you.

  • Avocado oil, extra virgin or not, when heated to high temperature, kills its nutrients according to other videos I’ve seen here on YouTube. The same is true for Olive Oil, extra virgin or not. But, it is the healthiest cooking/frying oil being that it can be heated to almost 500 degrees Fahrenheit before it becomes poison for your body. This is why it’s the healthiest oil for cooking/frying because of its smoke point. However, go past its smoke point and it becomes poison. The healthiest avocado oil option would be cold pressed/extra virgin, organic and/or non-gmo. Any other option of avocado oil and you’ll be buying highly processed poison.

  • I watched alot of your videos. Confusing too long and they contridct eachother. It’s a turns me off about your accuracy and your legitimate sources. I have to watch other keto doctors and specialists to benefit.

  • Does it matter if the avocado oil is regular or cold-pressed if you want to use it for cooking? Or is the only difference the nutritional content?

  • I microwave with olive oil, 210F max EVOO. Nothing denatures, mix with bromelin powder, shoulder beef, pork butt, melts in your mouth. Never heard of the tickle test for EVOO but will be doing. Search websites for rec’d OO brands that don’t lie. Google it.

  • Cold-pressed virgin coconut oil is where it’s at people… trust me. Organic, unrefined, no added ingredients. It hardens to a cold pressed semi-solid at room temperature and feels cool (but not too cold) to the touch. It will melt to becomes super smooth and soft with even slight body heat. Great for back massages too, as well as those with a happy ending! haha.

It seemed to check off all the boxes one would want. Well that is surprising and depressing at the same time. Damn it bamboozled again!

  • Omg! I used avocado oil on my hair and my hair came to life soft and even holds a curl…since good for arthritis I mixed some with shea butter and other oils…skin is extra soft…

  • Honestly, at first, I was a little turned off by the small shirt, spiky haircut, etc.. I felt that this was going to be another one of those “You need to buy this” type of video by someone who is so different from myself. But I persevered and held on. And doing so, I was very much impressed. Thank. You.

  • Maybe she’s allergic to latex and not the olive oil…maybe he’s sleeping with other people. I use olive oil occasionally and never had a problem with my downstairs area. I also use coconut oil and flaxseed gel, both more natural than ky jelly.

  • I am going to have to disagree with you thomas on this one. california ranch evoo is considered one of the best evoos in the world and is made in northern california. you can buy for $9.95 for 500ml. A good evoo does not have to be made in europe and over $10.00 a bottle.

  • Ever since my mom started cooking with Canola oil she has Artritis and I have inflammation inside my nose stupid doctor who recommended it to my dad he had a heart attack back in 2013 so she stupid doctor told him to only buy canola oil I hate canola oil I didn’t knew that canola oil was bad

  • How do you feel about cooking with coconut oil? I plan to try avocado oil next. I use olive oil for salads. Who knows if I’m getting the good stuff. I will keep your tips in mind next time I buy. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the the video Thomas. So the organic extra virgin olive oil from Aldi’s grocery store is not a true EVOO?
It seemed to check off all the boxes one would want. Well that is surprising and depressing at the same time. Damn it bamboozled again!

  • Lovely video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched Setackson Dumbstruck Scheme (Have a quick look on google can’t remember the place now)? It is an awesome one off product for understanding how to give women amazing orgasims without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend Sam got astronomical success with it.

  • 16 minutes did an episode a few years back about how most Italian olive oil’s were fake because of the mafia.I try to buy California olive oil only, but it’s hard to find in the grocery stores.

  • Olive Oil is the most Counterfeited product in the WHOLE WORD. There are other oils just as good. I dont trust any of these people below in these comments, they all mix it with Canola. Use another oil, Do Your Research, people lie when it comes to money and Olive Oil.

  • Cheers for the Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you ever tried Chireetler Fighters Combinations Rule (do a google search)? It is a great one of a kind guide for understanding the secret to please a lady in bed without the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my friend after many years got amazing results with it.

  • Thanks, great write-up. I add a cap of BHT to both my avocado and olive oil except for my coconut oil. Please put on a shirt that covers your guns!

  • I don’t understand how it’s anti inflamitory when it’s omega 6/3 ratios are among the worst of all the oils. Way worse then canola oil even. Can anyone explain this?

  • Lovely Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you tried Chireetler Fighters Combinations Rule (probably on Google)? It is a great exclusive guide for understanding the secret to please a lady in bed minus the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my cousin after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical results with it.

  • 16 minutes did an episode a few years back about how most Italian olive oil’s were fake because of the mafia.I try to buy California olive oil only, but it’s hard to find in the grocery stores.

  • No sense of using unrefined for frying. That is just a reducilous.
It destroys everything in it by the time it reaches 80C

Use extravirgin only for cold dishes and skin use. That way you can actually use its health benefits

  • Dr. Axe, you should use coconut activated charcoal to whiten your teeth naturally. It is how people 100 years ago like my grandmother whitened her teeth naturally.

  • today I was in Wal Mart to buy an avocado oil, there were multi choices, but all of them were organic cold pressed, but REFINED. I didn’t buy it yet, but need to understand is refined bad as a choice to buy???

  • Kudos for the video content! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you considered Setackson Dumbstruck Scheme (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for understanding how to give women amazing orgasims minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend at last got great results with it.

  • Olive Oil is the most Counterfeited product in the WHOLE WORD. There are other oils just as good. I dont trust any of these people below in these comments, they all mix it with Canola. Use another oil, Do Your Research, people lie when it comes to money and Olive Oil.

  • Do NOT keep your avocado oil in the fridge if you’re going to cook with it. That should have been specified. It drastically lowers the smoking point and inreases the amount of smoke. As a dressing its fine cold but cook it at room temp. Trust me, don’t learn the hard way.

  • So happy to know from the greatest and most knowledgeable dr..DR JOSH that AVACADO OIL IS THE BEST..I use it all the time..great taste and light as ever..thank you for confirming its benefits..❤ looking forward to more interesting health beneficial videos!!

  • i originally bought a bottle of avacado oil to cook my frozen veggies on the stove with, just in a frying pan on high heat and stirring them aroudn until they absorbed the oil and were cooked enough to eat.
But i sort of steered away from that and the avacado oil just sat on my shelf in the cabinet.
However, i have been taking greens powders with lots of vitamin a, k, and e the fat soluble vitamins, so i decided to try using the avacado oil in my drinks i use a mason jar and shake the powder with water until it dissolves, i now add 1 teaspoon of the avacado oil into my drinks and shake it up to enhance the absorption of the vitamins that are fat soluble, since i dont eat much fat anyway other than fish oil, which is low in fat.

I was just wondering if this is a good idea, or a bad idea?
According to the video, its a good idea, but i never hear him or anyone else mention the use of avacado oil in this regard in a drink, that you drink lol

Anybody have any insight on this?

I am using a brand thats pretty cheaap on amazon, around 7 bucks for a bottle it taste good in the drink, but i need to know i am not killing myself by consuming this oil this way.

    Thank in advance

  • Hey, Dr.Josh i need your advice: I’ve been using Primal Kitchen Avocado oils for some time now, after watching your video..I noticed mine isn’t ORGANIC or UnRefined. I live in the US and have not had much look finding it in store or online… any help?

  • Funny, I recently started using the the Simply Nature Organic avocado oil that you can get at Aldi’s and this video prompted me to run out to the kitchen and give it a sniff. It definitely does not smell like anything, let alone bacon. Don’t know what to tell you.

  • Dr. Axe NEED HELP.
i have got elevated Triglycerides and low HDL, my liver area pains. So i saw on ur website that Olive Oil would be Helpful. But i see that Olive oil is not for cooking. I at home use, Rice Bran oil, Peanut Oil, Sun Flower Oil for cooking. Now can u suggest one OIL for Cooking with the benefits of Olive Oil and High Smoke Point, Is Avocado the Ideal Oil in My Case??. Thank You.

Great for back massages too, as well as those with a happy ending! haha.

  • I just used this oil for the first time on my salad. It is the best oil I ever had. I’m throwing out the canola and olive oil, and ordering a gallon online st a time of this..

  • it is dense LDL--ask your doctor to give you the lipo-protein test-i had a massive heart attack from too much calcium causing calcified penial-calcified aorta-calcified arteries-I now take K2-7-we need cholesterol we do not need Bad Dense LDL-

  • Ok, it’s all good and dandy, but with so much “fake” oils, how do I know that the avocado oil I am buying is real? How do I know the avocado oil from Costco is real? Why I’m even asking this question is beyond me. Damn.

  • Avocado oil has become my secret weapon in my keto lifestyle. I put it in practically everything. It’s versatile and incredibly satiating. My version of Italian dressing for example is avocado oil, garlic powder, basil, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper. Shake it up and pour liberally over romain. It’s delicious and really satisfies.

  • Too much polyunsaturated fat for cooking. Heating them creates oxidation products. Just use tallow, lard, butter or ghee (clarified butter) for heated applications.

  • Great Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard about Setackson Dumbstruck Scheme (do a search on google)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for understanding how to give women amazing orgasims without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my old buddy Taylor after many years got great results with it.

  • Im confused.. If you can cook at high temperatures with avocado oil why do you need to store the oil in a cool place away from heat and light?

  • I seem to be allergic to fresh avocados.  I get very  nauseous:-(  Could avocado oil be a better way to get the nutrients?  I practice intermittent fasting and predominately keto for 20 hours.  I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune CNS disease and with the exception of Avocados, all other fat sources are fine.  Your insight and guidance is much appreciated!

  • I took this on and decided putting avocado oil in my smoothie, about less than one table spoon a day. The end result was an increase of triglycerides and VLDL. Could you please explain why this may have happened?

  • I watched alot of your videos. Confusing too long and they contridct eachother. It’s a turns me off about your accuracy and your legitimate sources. I have to watch other keto doctors and specialists to benefit.

  • Lovely video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched Setackson Dumbstruck Scheme (Have a quick look on google can’t remember the place now)? • Thomas, what do you think of this: https://www.skepticalraptor.com/skepticalraptorblog.php/starving-cancer-pseudoscientific-nonsense/

  • I think on going stress causes all of this inflammation, throwing off all of the hormones in your body. Too much estrogen for every one put into foods.
