  • Awesome! I used malted barley powder (ground from grains) in the dough and in the poaching liquid and added baking soda also to the water per a different recipe and the bagels came out golden brown without egg wash. Plus barley flavor. Duh. Lol. But thanks! I’ll try out your process too.

  • I freakin love these! Though, I have tweaked them a little. Instead of everything seasoning, I use a 4 cheese blend of fontina,parm,asiago and provolone and when I tell you its the best thing I’ve ever had, I’m not lying! My tweakings go like this;

    ♡I substitute 3/4 of SEMOLINA FLOUR for the bread flour. So that would be 2 3/4 bread flour and 3/4 semolina (duram wheat) flour
    ♡2 teaspoons salt
    ♡1 1/2 tblspoon sugar
    ♡I add shaved 4 cheese blend and a tiny handful of shredded into the dough while I knead it. Then, instead of everything seasoning, I put lots of the shredded 4 cheese blend on there!

    I hope if any cheese lovers try them this way, they enjoy them!!

  • So I made a test batch, currently in the oven. 4 of them in just water, 2 for 1 minute and 2 for 2 minutes. Then 4 in baking soda water {yes I know it’s for pretzels I just wanted to see how it’d turn out} 2 for 1 minute and 2 for 2 minutes. Just to see which I liked best.

  • These convertions are very off! Im trying to make them at the moment, 500 grams is not 3.5 cups. Rather 2.11 cups. 3.5 cups is around 850grams. Not sure which measure is the correct one. Having major issues with getting a dough that Im able to kneed, keep getting very watery doughs.

    3. The water you boil them in should have salt, baking soda and sugar that helps give them the dark, bubble crust that yours do not have.

  • Hi Timmy, cage free eggs are not necessarily humane. They pack them in to pens and they can’t really move around. Free range chickens are the ones that roam free. They do taste better as they get to eat the greenery and bugs around them.

  • I made these bagels and they aren’t that great. They look and smell incredible but they are very chewy and its almost a chore to eat them. Being completely honest the cheap froze bagels are better than this and I would almost go as far as saying it is one of the worst bagels I’ve ever had. Its pretty and smells good but the texture and flavor is all wrong.

  • I’ve always had a special place for Einstein bagels. I got type 1 diabetes as a young child 28 years ago. My mom used to coordinate a fundraiser walk and they would donate the lunch for the walkers, back when they were a Colorado only based company. I still love their food today.

  • I lobe their chili bagel and also the cheddar jalapeño I had a co worker who worked in one when I used to work at Taco Bell. Tbh best things and plus their tuna bagel awesome �� normally not a fan but it was great!
