Is It a BAD IDEA to DEEP FRY Watermelon?

Video taken from the channel: The King of Random

Bad news first: fried foods are still lousy for you. According to a new study tracking the eating habits and disease history of 100,000 men and women, people who ate fried foods four to six times a week faced much higher odds of developing heart disease and Type 2 diabetes—increasing their chances by 23% and 39%, respectively. Unsurprisingly, daily trips to the deep-fat fryer raised those. Those consuming 4–6 servings of fried food per week were 39% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes, compared to those consuming less than one serving per week.

Fried foods are high in fat, calories, and often salt. A few studies, including one published in 2014, have linked fried foods to serious health problems like type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Generally speaking, fried foods are significantly higher in fat and calories than their non-fried counterparts. For example, one small baked potato (100. Fried chicken and fried fish were more strongly linked to early death than other fried foods, which the researchers grouped in a miscellaneous category including French frie.

The trendiness of fried chicken, meanwhile, can spur retailers to offer more interesting items, like different breading flavors, dipping sauces and side dishes, making a fried meal more of an experience than an unhealthy endeavor. The positive perception of fried foods, and particularly poultry, is increasing, experts note. Fried food is bad for everyone, but it might be especially bad for people with the “wrong” genes, researchers reported Tuesday.

They found people with the worst combination of obesity-linked genes. Some examples of popular fried foods are french fries, fried chicken, fried seafood, potato chips, and doughnuts. Rather than consuming large amounts of fried food, one can make healthier diet choices. Nearly anything that is fried can be prepared another.

Deep-fried foods are bad for your health as they are high in fat, calories, and often salt. Several studies have linked fried foods to obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, which can. Trans fats are equally as bad, if not worse. but the oils that foods are fried in are often high in trans fats, the worst offenders.

Spices Not only do spices help flavor foods, but some.

List of related literature:

Where fried foods form a large part of the diet, excess fat consumption can be an important source of ill-health, and is a key contributor to obesity, coronary heart disease and perhaps some types of cancer (Browner et al., 1991).

However, concerns have arisen over the health implications of eating fried foods, including the production of potential carcinogens and, in industrialised countries, their contribution to obesity and the health problems associated with this (see section 19.4.3).

  • i was thinking about this one day, and so i thought about how it could be connected to our evolutionary past, and this is just what i thought!!!

  • Youre an MD? That’s why youre a LIAR. MD’s are conmen. Stop lying dude, im not talking about here in youtube but to your patients, just for you to get money from them. You MD’s sucks!

  • Concentrated calories, refined foods, extracts like vitamins or minerals, constructed foods ( if a person in the 1800s could not name it, toss it), and manufactured foods, like pink slime chicken nuggets or hamburger patties.

  • yeap, now i’m even more sure i made a good choice by avoiding oil-fried food. I’m lucky I do not ike the taste. All that oil is just eeeh. I do enjoy meat from open fire though. Just no oil.

  • Well if it was already known to increase the rates of cancer and heart disease this story shouldn’t be lauded as some genius breakthrough in science.

  • Is it possible to obtain a crispy texture without the actual oil? Is it more about the dehydration of the surface, or is it about what you replace the water molecules with (in this case with lipids)?

  • or maybe america doesnt have any traditional healthy food that taste good, tbh i dont know any healthy american food that taste good

  • The real deal? Our bodies are as natural as plants. We are not science we are unprocessed and unaltered minerals, created from earth by God. Man created science (Medicine) to manage our health complications caused by processed and chemically developed foods. Medicines can’t and don’t cure it ONLY manages our physical failures, caused by man. Someone for a long… long time made it legal to trash our foods, that’s killing us and causing health complications. And that health complication? Allows them to make money selling us their scientific medicine, that can’t heal us but simply manage our concerns until we die.

  • love any fried food as long as not sweet. Veg fritters are most favorite After doing intermittent fasting, dont know why i am craving for fried food?

  • I think habituation is the key Word. My parents never brought me to mcdonals or kfc when i was a child. I grew up with a mother that always cooked pasta, sometimes meat and a lot of vegetables, and now that I am 19 I actually dislike going to fast foods more than once in 2 months. I know once in 2 weeks doesn’t do anything bad to you, but I still feel like i’m damaging my body. Grow your children without fastfoods and we will defeat obesity.

  • I seriously hope that videos like this are not the way this channel is going. We crave junk food because of “energy”? Not because it tastes good? Right. We have to throw in the evolution angle somehow so we can’t say it’s because of taste. Right.

  • Going from a vegan diet to one bloated with animal fat and grease probably has sent his body into a tailspin. Especially gaining weight like that so fast. And going from someone who doesn’t eat meat to someone who does could be guilt too.

  • This is bullshit, the foods I ate at age 20 I eat now, like hella coke, poptarts, Lucky charms ect. If I stopped eating all my favorite foods I might at well be eating healthfood crackers from a local salvation army kitchen. I’m sorry but I love what I eat, but I do also wanna live longer, but to not have any food with flavor? Foods that people recommend me eat are disgusting and have no flavor at all to me.

  • The hardest for me is soda. I’ve started to prefer red wine or cognac to beer. Once I read what margarine was i never ate it again

  • Fish is fool of pb and we never eat that much fish all this countries are killers of people by poison and poisonable food, communists was truth this countries don’t care about people, they look they do but they killig as like chickens, they protending they give you all but they have good plan and end of story they strip you are on 50 of everything..and they also waiting with open mouth when you give up your home, this health system and politic system play bylet rulet..shits.. nothing is your, they can take whatever they want, even your own freedom some like communists and plus they have all world population under control by Facebook and go just point this yes this not,I am just suprice why they let people born and don’t make limitation like China and they don’t will need to kill as like mad cows..

  • What’s the problem of using saturated animal fat, like tallow? Even lard or poultry fat would contain much less polyunsaturated fatty acids than most vegetable oils, with the exception of coconut and macadamia oil.

  • Convection and Conduction Yum.
86 the Corn Oil use Peanut and add Coconut Oil to both Peanut and Olive Oil when Frying Foods.

  • Cool chemistry. Yep, cool carcinogenic chemistry. Most vegetable oils are terrible for frying. They’re rich in polyunsaturated fats which will easily oxidize and make havoc inside the body I am talking about atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.
BTW CVD diseases are in TOP 3 causes of death. Even higher then traffic accidents.

  • Hi
you are going to be the replacement Dr for Eric, Marcola and more.
keeping eventing simple as you have and addressing real food concerns like fry food, who don’t like fry wings, Fry wings taste so much better than bake or broil. So thanks for giving us our foods back.

  • Frying itself is not healthy, frying with olive oil and extra virgin olive oils is plain cancerous! There is a reason people fry with sunflower, canola or other high temp oils.

  • Humans experienced accelerated evolution when they began to farm. Diseases and plague shaped humans so much that it is more accurate to reference our early farmer ancestors than hunter gatherers. We are much closer to farmers than hunter gatherers. This is why asians can thin but eat so much high carb white rice. They adapted to their crop.

  • I mean he used to be a good person, Happy and healthy but now he’s just an utter mess.
Even with the massive amount of supposed “mistakes” (which really aren’t mistakes, and are just his fault from his stupid decision.) I hope he does get help.

  • So her’s the million dollar question: how do I cook food to be golden and crispy on the outside without soaking it in liquifed fat?

  • Wrong Olivia, cupcake. “180 C is not nearly twice 100 C”. To determine the true relative temperature ratio you need to work in Absolute: So hot oil is 453 / 373 K =  21%  higher than the boiling point of water. Yes, that 21%, in conjunction with the higher specific heat of oil over water, holds enough differential heat energy to boil the water on contact. That is the mojo of deep frying, Cupcake.

Outright Disgusting!

  • On this topic… the best diet is the stone age diet… the REAL stone age diet.
Only eat what you have hunted or gathered yourself.

  • Palm oil: I read that it’s made from the seed and extracted using gasoline, which then has to be removed using more processing. Is that wrong?

  • I hate the taste of most junk food,I actually feel disgusted in front of most junk food, homemade burger, and tacos are the obly exception, I hate soda, doritos, pringles etc

  • Alcohol molecules aren’t as strongly attracted to each other as water molecules are.

Ironic considering the effect on attraction from drinking alcohol compared to drinking water…

  • Sugar is fine in its natural form (when it comes with tailored fibres for digestion) is quite OK. In basically any quantity. Try getting fat on oranges, versus orange “juice” without bits from rehydrated concentrate. Or, a banana versus an “energy” (refined sugar) drink.

  • I’m pretty sure I heard somewhere that nikacodo has had mental.. emotional illness type stuff since he was a child.. but now I’m wondering if it was as bad as a child as he says

  • What brand of sustainable palm oil do you recommend and trust to be actually sustainable? Lots of conflicting information on the internet about this.

  • The only thing that I am OK with is not eating chocolate or soda, I haven’t had for so many years, but please bread, bread, bread is like telling me not to breath, I will die if I don’t have bread

  • Stop advocating the use of plam oil! Saying source some that responsibly obtained is still ridiculous and irresponsible advice. Avoid it at all costs if you care about the survival of your planet.

  • Lol I can still remember when my aunt was making fondue for the first time. The recipie called for her to heat the oil. She was going to wait until the oil was boiling! I took a peek in the pot and said it was hot enough and laughed at her wanting to wait for it to boil.

  • In India, we have two types of cooking oils, refined and filtered. Refined oil is highly processed using chemical reactions to remove fat out of it and filtered as name suggests only filtered to remove any visible impurity.
Normally, I prefer filtered oil of peanuts which tastes good and healthy too.

  • Im not so religious but the bible says gluttony is a sin and it just makes sense as i watch these mukbang videos. So many people hungry and theyre out here gorging like its their last day on earth

  • Hi
you are going to be the replacement Dr for Eric, Marcola and more.
keeping eventing simple as you have and addressing real food concerns like fry food, who don’t like fry wings, Fry wings taste so much better than bake or broil. So thanks for giving us our foods back.

  • You claim fried food is bad when cooked in vegetable oil. My cousin grew up in my house and we ate the same food. He’s skinny and I’m fat.

  • Where is the Duo? It’s better with the two of you. The way you guys bounce off each other is just better. Kinda like the ketoConnect Duo

  • Great presentation about the chemistry behind frying with various oils.
Keep it up! thanks! God bless you.
Hope to see you on another video presentation.Bye.

  • I cannot understand how anyone can watch that clown. The amount of food he’s bingeing on is disgusting and the likeliness of a lot of that is going to waste is appalling. Stuffing himself with those huge portion sizes over & over, who knows what all that junk is doing to his insides?! Just seeing him in this video is putting me off ever checking out his channels and I think most of those ‘crying’ episodes is all for show/sympathy. He needs to grow the hell up and get a good support system too in starting to eat healthier and shed the excess weight.

  • Why are products with refined sugar allowed to be abought by infants unattended, but for tobacco you need to be 18? In some places you need to be 21 for alcohol. But refined sugars has more addicts, and way more early deaths let alone lives long of dismal health and life quality.

  • Traditional societies in most temperate climates fried and cooked in tallow, lard and butter, while in tropical environments they fried and cooked in ghee (Indian subcontinent) and in all tropical regions they fried and cooked with a variety of animal fats, unrefined palm oil and unrefined coconut oil for thousands of years. You can’t go wrong.

Mediterraneans traditionally didn’t cook much in olive oil, but mainly cooked in lard (Sardinia’s still do) and tallow (sheep/goat), but post WWII, due to the loss of many animals in Greece and Italy cooking with olive oil became more wide spread, it not as bad as the PUFA oils, but should only be used at low temperature, not reused and should be an unrefined cold pressed extra virgin type.
For thousands of years olives were grown primarily for lamp oil, and was also used in a minor way for cosmetic purposes and as a massage oil, but not for cooking; those two major wars between the Greeks and the Persians were the world first oil wars over a very important commodity of the ancient world.

The majority of modern oils are just rancid oxidised PUFAs “crap”.

  • You are right about most things.
But it is salt not sodium.
Also B12 if you have a healthy gut
, bacteria in the gut produces B12!!
Low amounts of alcohol is harmless!!!
This advise applies to everyone of all ages!!!

  • I love your content! It really helps to put everything in perspective and make me want to actually eat healthier after watching these kind of videos! Thanks:)

  • What I don’t get is why carbs and fats are so demonized. Like all I’m getting from these videos is how sugar is bad to the body but complex carbs are OK. So… What makes a food unhealthy? The surprising over-amount of salt and sugar, the very little nutritional value or how easy they are to binge? Maybe all of these but I’m still confused about fats and how they effect insulin versus carbs (fats fill you more easily gotcha) and if “they” are healthy then

  • We’re addicted to sugar because it’s in everything and MSG is in most crap food to make our brains instantly like not great food. It’s a neurotoxin and it’s legal to use. Can’t trust gov’t agencies to protect you lol

  • Welp this vid is helpless …

We cannot eat & drink our favorites

If I am follow this orders i am dieing of hunger & thirsty .

  • But if you wish to enjoy life, and not be at the mercy of a “celebrity nutritionist” eat what gives you pleasure and satisfaction. Let the “celebs” gaze at themselves in the mirror and worry about every stretch mark and wrinkle! Most of them are half wacky anyway and may well chug a bottle of sleeping pills after living on raw vegetables and tofu most of their lives!
