‘Slow Carbs’ and the Truth About Low-Carb Diets

Video taken from the channel: Cleveland Clinic

Focusing on net carbs is an unnecessary approach to healthy eating and weight loss and can cause more confusion than benefit. Focusing on net carbs can also potentially lead to over-consumption of carbs and highly processed foods. Experts Debate: Should You Focus on Net Carbs? If you’re trying to lose weight and eat healthier, chances are you’re well aware of the benefits of logging your food. While setting calorie goals and balancing macronutrients are largely tried-and-true tools, one metric is a bit more controversial.

Enter net carbs, aka “impact carbs” or “active carbs,” a category of. Although the number of products touting “net carbs” continues to grow, nutrition experts say the science behind these claims is fuzzy, and it’s unclear whether counting net carbs will help. If you are a low carb trying to stay under 30g/day, then you still have more than half of your days worth and should enjoy the flexibility achieved by accurately counting net carbs! Dietitian Tips Never count non-starchy vegetables (any vegetable aside from corn, peas potatoes) as part of your carb total when counting net carbs. If you have a tight carb goal or range you’re looking to stay in, you might’ve thought to yourself: this is impossible.

That’s why the concept of “net carbs” can be your friend. To calculate net carbs, “take the grams of total carbs and subtract the grams of fiber and sugar alcohols,” explains Retelny. If you’re getting all (or at least most) of your fiber from natural food sources such as non starchy veggies, nuts and seeds, then having a total carb intake of 50-80 grams per day and a net carb intake of 20 to 60 just gives you another measurement of the healthiness of your diet.

2. Focus on whole carbs. While some people emphasize the importance of choosing complex carbohydrates over simple ones, an easier, and. This page explains how many carbs you should aim for each day.

Advantages. Less restrictive: Counting net carbs may increase food choices. For instance, although blackberries, avocados.

As long as you follow a whole foods based diet, counting net carbs offers several benefits; it may be a better approach for weight loss, it’s less restrictive and can help balance blood sugar levels. Rather Than Net Carbs Focus on Quality Food Sources.

Although it is often assumed that a high carbohydrate intake contributes to insulin resistance, observational and interventions studies report that high-carbohydrate diets do not adversely affect insulin sensitivity and may have a beneficial effect on insulin sensitivity [20].

However, as I show throughout this book, there are many long-term drawbacks to eating excessive net carbs, so it seems a rational choice would be to replace net carbs with high-quality healthy fats, and restrict protein to just the amount your body needs for maintenance and repair.

Although protein does not increase glucose concentrations and high-protein lowcarbohydrate diets may promote weight loss and improved glucose control, the long-term effects of these diets on diabetes and plasma cholesterol levels are not conclusive at this time.30-31

Whilst carbohydrate intake can be ‘balanced’ against insulin requirement (a fundamental basis for the DAFNE approach), and in theory against exercise (a more difficult commodity to quantify), exercise in fact not only increases carbohydrate requirement, it also increases sensitivity to insulin.

While carbohydrate is necessary for supporting high-quality workouts and promoting optimal recovery, extremely high carbohydrate intakes (more than 60 percent of calories from carbohydrate), primarily made possible by consuming a lot of whole grains and/or rice, aren’t necessarily beneficial for time-crunched athletes.

  • Cheers for this, I’ve been looking for “low carb diet what can i eat” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Ronaliana Future Falbala (just google it )? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.

  • Many thanks, I have been researching “tips for low carb dieters” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of Ronaliana Future Falbala (just google it )? Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got great results with it.

  • After I had found this weight loss program, I felt excited to check it out quickly. This has offered me pleasure. My own friend lost 10 lbs right after this weight loss weight. My friend has got rid of 10 lbs already due to this weight loss program. Find a right guide is not easy, you can discover by Google. Weight program’s name is Peyton Huno†az
    good luck

  • Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I’ve heard several amazing things about it and my cooworker lost lots of weight with Custokebon Secrets (search on google).

  • I just saw a VSHRED ad. He ate a whole pizza instead of a salad. He claims salad is rabbit crap and makes you hungry. Salad is good and makes you much more full. Put some olive oil and vinegar in it and some other greens. Add some broccoli and cauliflower and you will get a ton of essential protein and fats. You heard that vegans and everybody. Broccoli is a very high protein vegetable. Cauliflower has a lot of healthy fat in it. Add some chicken too. Don’t fear the saturated fat. Saturated fat causing heart disease is pseudo science. They actually protect your heart. It’s the croutons, the pizza crust, the burger bun, the white bread, the trans fats, the fully hydrogenated oils, the processed dressings, that cause heart disease.
Let’s talk about pizza vs salad from a metabolic standpoint. When you eat the pizza, your amylase starts to immediately break down the starch into sugars. All of that gets sent to your liver. Your liver gets a huge overload and dumps the sugar and a ton of triglycerides and ldl into your bloodstream. Your pancreas come to the rescue and dumps an antidote called insulin into your blood. The insulin shoves all of that sugar into your fat cells, and muscles. Because of this, your blood sugar drops and you become hungry again for more junk food.

When you eat the salad, the fiber, fat and protein in the salad slow down the absorption of the already slow acting carbs. The carbs enter your liver in a very slow trickle. Your liver knows how to manage that and slowly sends it to your blood stream. What you get is a feeling of fullness and long lasting energy.
So pizza or salad? Which would you rather eat?

I mean just eating lettuce on its own is boring. Add some healthy toppings like what I mentioned at the top and you get a powerhouse full of healthy slow carbs, phytochemicals, vitamins, fiber, fat, and protein.
The pizza is nothing but empty calories, simple carbs, trans fat, and highly processed meat.

  • If you have sleep apnea like Del Griffith in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, then you are probably not going to lose weight because of the additional complications. It sounds like the good doctor is saying that we all have individual biology and biomes within our bodies so we need to customize the ketogenic diet to meet our individual needs.

  • Guys. lost a ton of fat doesn’t need to be hard (I used to think it did). I will give you some tips now. Look for a popular weight loss method called Custokebon Secrets (do a search on google). Thanks to it I’ve lost tons of weight. I probably should not even be speaking about it cause I do not want lots of other guys out there running exactly the same game but whatever. I am just in a great mood today so I will share the wealth lol.

  • When considering eating healthy, you have to try not to fall victim to modern fad diet plans. Extreme diets are a risk for your health, especially ones that seriously restrict your everyday nutritional intake. While they might induce rapid loss of weight, these diet plans are never a long-term solution for your weight problem. It is best to look up Custokebon Secrets on google search engine since it isn’t just another fad diet where you starve yourself.

  • The China Study is a prime example of the bad science that is the reason nutrition studies is in the middle of a replication crisis. Eight out of ten observational studies aren’t replicated in clinical studies.

  • thank you so much Doctor Dan, I ate 100 gr of peanuts right now and I was trying to count that in my daily carbs. 16 gr of net carbs.

  • My mother ate by recommendation and had Insulin resistance, including slow carbs, however, my mother switched to low carb….INSULIN Resistance literaly went away, the doctor told her her sugar is great.
Extract from that what you will….
    However her bloodwork is excellent
    Her health is excellent
she was Insulin resistant few months ago…

  • All Diabetics should follow the Keto Lifestyle and avoid ‘Keto Cycling’ with carbs for at least 6 months until after they have solidly & healthily maintained Ketosis and their numbers are good & stable And maybe for the rest of their lives like me.

  • Great and accurate info (from our research as well).
We’ve learned to stop obsessing about “no carbs in everything”. Instead, we try and limit our carbs when we can, but we still consume up to 50g of carbs per day with great low carb diet benefit and results.
    Low carb, not NO CARB!

  • I believe the modern western diet is too high in carbs and animal protein. I suffer from the auto-immune disease A.S. and I’ve read a lot about the connection between high carb consumption and inflammation, which involves klebsiella bacteria overgrowth. It may be that the primary cause of auto-immune disease is processed grains and sugar. If that’s true then either a low carb diet or a plant based diet would bring about improvement.

  • Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about “what is a ketogenic diet” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Leviwiy Ketogenic Kaiserism (search on google )? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my co-worker got cool results with it.

  • Guys, build muscle doesn’t have to be difficult (I used to think it did). I’ll give you some advice right now. Look for a diet plan called Custokebon Secrets. Seriously, that program has transformed my life. I probably shouldn’t even be mentioning it cause I do not want a bunch of other folks out there running the same “game” but whatever, I am in a good mood today so I’ll share the wealth haha.

  • Dr. Hyman’s lecture-style method of explaining the Keto diet doesn’t seem to need a hostess. So… why is she even sitting there? (He doesn’t even make eye contact with her…) Distractingly awkward dynamic…

  • Isn’t fibre already separated from the carbs on labels in the uk? So, if it says you have 5g carbs and 2g fibre, then you actually still have 5g of carbs?

Can you clear things up for my please. Love the videos and all the information, very much appreciated. Keep up the great work!

  • With all due respect to Dr Westland, the debate is which diet leads to better health: whole food plant based vs the animal based diet. It sounded like Dr Westland came to debate low-fat animal based diet vs the high fat animal based diet (keto).. Animal based diets lead to all of the western diseases, including heart disease, the number one killer of men and women in the United States. There is only one diet that has been proven over and over to not only prevent but reverse this terrible killer in the vast majority of people studied. Whole food plant based. There is a mountain of evidence proving this. Not 100%, but the over whelming preponderance. No other diet can make this claim.

  • I definitely vote for China Study. Thanks for sharing! This was an informative and a decent debate. I believe in Dr Campbell and his research approach (minor note: I am a professor and conduct research on a daily basis).

  • As expert, I’m sure Custokebon Secrets is good way to lost a lot of fat. Why don’t you give it a chance? perhaps it’ll work for you too.

  • As specialist, I do believe Custokebon Secrets can be good way to lost a ton of fat. Why not give it a shot? perhaps it is going to work for you too.

  • It would be a waste for you not to shed body fat while other normal people are capable to shed extra pounds easily using Custokebon Secrets (do a google search).

  • Does Custokebon Secrets (just google it) help me lost a ton of fat? I see many people keep on speaking about this popular fat burn secrets.

  • I thought carbs on uk packaging is the net carbs and doing the minus fibre from carbs is how it’s done in America that’s the info that come up when doing research that’s what I found

  • I watched a video on “The Real Truth About Health Conference” channel where a panelist stated that a survey of the attendees at this debate was done at the end and they voted Dr. Westman as the winner of the debate. It is beyond belief that is how they voted unless they are all members of the animal husbandry industry.

  • I’m on a plant based diet and it seems that every time I eat meat of any kind I just want to sleep after eating and feel well as my entire body becomes inflamed but when I eat more of a McDougall diet none of this happens.

  • The best way to get fat adapted and used to the ketogenic diet is starting with fasting, particularly 24 hours. Then go into breaking the fast with fat. I got adapted so quick that I don’t crave sugar, carbs and food in general. I eat when my body tells me it’s time and that’s usually after 4pm.

  • In 50 years time the world will look back on videos like this and think “WTF?! Why was there even a DISCUSSION about Whole Foods Plant Based vs. Atkins/Keto bullshit?!”

  • Hello
‏First, I will be very, very honest with you. I am very tired. I am looking for ways to profit from the internet for me for about three years. I have not earned a single cent, and I do not have a job.
‏And now I’m selling from ClickBank Course Keto Diet website which is very cheap and it is a site that helps you to organize your meals and benefit me and you only need 30 people to buy to get a sum of money to start my project in social media my email: [email protected]

  • Just wonderful, I have been researching “low carb diets what to eat” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Ronaliana Future Falbala (just google it )? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.

  • I need to pass on some info to my daughter. My daughter wants to have band surgery for her stomach as she is tired of being fat.  She has an immune disease plus thyroid problems. I want her to try this, but she insists that her body doesn’t do things most people respond to.  Is this diet good for her, and if not how can she lose weight as that could be causing more problems. If so, is there something specific she should do?
    Thank you for your time.

  • Campbell is full of shit. I was Whole Foods plant based for 1.5 years, I Don and never have eaten sugar or refined foods, but my blood glucose went up and out of control.
Then I read the studies, and the studies are clear. I don’t care what you eat, but carbohydrates are your enemy in high percentages! And you can not eat WFPB and not eat high carb

  • It still surprises me, just how many people don’t know about Custokebon Secrets, even though lots of people get great results because of it. Thanks to my buddy who told me about Custokebon Secrets, I have lost tons of weight with it without starving myself.

  • Great info. But it’s so annoying that the doctor doesnt look at the woman asking him and that she has to put on the graphs in her face, shes noticeably annoyed as well

  • Bottom Line: Refined carbs may increase triglycerides, levels and cause insulin resistance. All of these are major risk factors for heart disease and.

  • No diet is best and everyone is different a vegan diet didn’t work for me and was alwayd sick and tired and ate everything i needed to eat on it. Went to a low carb high fat diet and i dropped alot of weight 130 pounds no longer hungry my confidence is up the roof and my mood is best then it has no longer depressed. Will never go back to just plants eating meat and thriving and lab works improved im just gald i am not 395 anymore and i am now 265

  • This does not make sense. Eat fat? So you be hungry, to burn fat? is this a joke? Fat has a lot more calories than fillers, like grains. Why Asians are all slim? They mostly consume Rice, I mean white Rice, not even brown rice. Grains gives you Soluble and indissoluble fiber, consumed with water, will bulk up your in Intestines, helps it’s muscles to move the waste. Dude, here, simple guideline from me, eat sensible, natural food like Greens, don’t over eat, and walk it off everyday. Stay away from Fat. Protein? if you are not working out, you don’t need much protein. Be your own doctor, and listen to your body. I would lean towards Vegan more, especially for elderly.

  • Does Custokebon Secrets (google it) help me lost a ton of weight? I see many people keep on talking about this popular weight loss diet plan.

  • The high carb low protei guy is full of doo-doo. I could barely tolerate listing to him. I think he is dangerous. I have seen too many videos of ex-vegans telling their horror stories, of how they became vegan, and the massive health issues that forced them to quit being vegan and start eating meat again. I even saw a video clip the other day, of a current vegan who was shouting to the camera about leaving the animals alone, and one of his front teeth fell out right on camera. I am afraid that I found it hilarious, even though I know it was really mean of me to laugh…I could not help it. I have no respect for vegans, unless they leave everyone else alone, and refrain from preaching at anyone else about their diet. Their holier than thou, attitude is extremely annoying,

  • You can not create health by creating disease. For me persobally Dr. Campbell wins. Respect and Thanks for his amazing research and contributions to the world

  • This video has good advice, but I’m not sure about the best diet plan that I need to work with, only because I have never taken any. Anybody tried using the Custokebon Secrets? I’ve heard many people refer to great things about Custokebon Secrets.

  • This is the best video on the internet to expose the lack of science Dr Campbell has demonstrating in his “research”. The other Dr absolutely annihilated him. If you cannot see that, you have no science brain to string together an argument whatsoever. I’m glad Dr Meat had a chance to mention that on a simplified timescale, we have been eating complex carbs/shite food for only 1 day in history. That says it all. Animal food is WHOLE FOOD too! Can we please give people permission to eat their natural diet designed by nature. Many people cannot thrive on a plant-based diet and many people may prefer to eat plants, that’s fine! Why must Campbell insist that he is right? Mr Meat has the attitude sorted. There is more than one way to treat illness, it just so happens that the Atkins is working better and has more scientific evidence to back it.

  • Campbell’s “Casein is dangerous and causes cancer” BS has been completely debunked by numerous studies.

  • Well explained and straight to the point! Well I’m curious, I’m sure it varies, but is there a rule of them as to how many net carbs one should have to stay in nutritional ketosis? Thanks

  • I tried the vegetarian thing and it just didn’t work out for me. I was always hungry and I lost some wait at first, but I eventually just gave in and pigged out and gained it back. High carb diets don’t work.

  • One whole hour of talk man smh, I saw this video 6 months ago and strictly speaking, at the end of it I was complete numb. Didnt understand shit. Specifically speaking, you need to either visit a good Dietitian or BUY an online course. It’s always worth it. I bought an online course and it was worth it. It really helped me and my bestfriend.

    Health Science Facts (frequently updated)

Everyone who thinks eating plant agriculture food all day, that only exists for a few thousands of years, instead of our natural meat diet, that never was based on masses of plant food and existed for millions of years, since plants simply weren’t there all year long, is completely off from reality. The high sugar diet is what kills most people in our society. Not our natural building material, aka cholesterol, as some crazys claim it. Cholesterol is what our brain is made out of. Plus hormones aswell. Plus body cells…

  • Hey Carb Dodgers! So I’m all about making videos that answer your common low carb diet questions! Got an idea for a video? Then drop it in the comment section below!:)

  • Good video thanks for sharing. I follow the equation Net Carbs= Total (fiber + 1/2 sugar alcohol) as well as monitor my glucose level so see how sugar alcohol effects me personally.

  • Five years ago I switched from the Standard American Diet (SAD) to a Whole Foods Plant Based diet after watching Forks over Knives which shows how our food is processed. Within six weeks I lost 35 pounds (I was obese), stopped all diabetes medication as I no longer was diabetic after 20 years, stopped blood pressure medication as my blood pressure became normal (120/ 80), stopped taking medication for high cholesterol as it went from 210 to 135. I watched this debate with interest and there is no doubt that I believe the author of the China Study along with his half a century in the medical field won hands down.

  • Blood sugar NOT going up after a meal is not necessarily optimal either. Sugar is there to provide energy. The point is not that it goes up but that it comes down after 1-2 hours.

  • How about cholestasis (no obstruction. But poorly functioning since I was a kid) and keto? Can I do it? Gettong out of the constant hunger is (every 90-120 minutes) is main goal

  • “The China Correlational Bullshit”, also called the most comprehensive bullshit ever done that span over 30 years. Garbage is garbage even if collected for 30 years

  • Everybody in the comments is like “I started eating Vegan and suddenly got healthy!” I’d be willing to bet that they stopped eating so much sugar and processed garbage at the same time. But I’m sure that didn’t effect anything…

  • One thing I don’t get. What’s the use in feeding caseins to rabbits? Rabbits are vegetarian, of course animal protein makes them ill. Isn’t that like feeding a tiger on vegetables and then saying the tigers death proves veggie diets are bad?

  • As expert, I think Custokebon Secrets is actually good way to lost lots of weight. Why not give it a shot? maybe it’ll work for you too.

  • My joy to test weight loss program is at all time high. My eating routine and my frequency of several workouts wasn`t altered and change. In merely a short time of 1 month, I actually dropped 6 pounds. While using this method, I did observe that I consumed food less and filled up quicker. Find a right weight is not easy, you can research by Google. Program’s name is Peyton Huno†az
    good luck

  • This guy. Blah blah blah. I lost a whopping 60 pounds on ultra low carb restrictive eating for 12 months. SIXTY fucking pounds. Incredible. The truth: My mental health suffered greatly. Felt great to get lighter, I could jump out of a sitting position felt like I was floating with less of that weight to carry, confidence boosts in the mirrorthe freedom to virtually not be hungry (Although to me this is still a little creepy). I hit a plateau (Yes it’s true it happens). Couldn’t get under 200 (Which is fine as i’m 6’4 and toned) but my mental health is terrifying. Without the blood sugar spikes, experiencing hunger, the energy carbs give you, nor bothering to do cardio and get those endorphins; I fell into this feeling of zombification, dis-associative, lack of feeling, lack of emotion, sociopathic, tired, just sort of nothingness. These feelings also coming from being fully medicated for depression by a professional. I know it sounds crazy but food is just pure joy and it does bring you energy and happiness. My only issue is portion control and knowing when to not over do it as I was a previous binge eater. But I will tell you right now low carbs is not a long term answer as it will promote mental deterioration. I think i’m just going back to food I like and being happy.

  • You know a low-carb diet is actually keto diet, which really works. I tried myself and it’s been about 4 weeks. Results? Lost 6 inches in belly fat without any workouts! Just for lazy girls like me, hehe. Now trying to plan ahead everything, as it’s again my laziness =). Well, by the way, who is looking for keto-recipes and is lazy as me to search every time on youtube, I found one cookbook with illustrations, timing, portions. If you want I can give you the link where you can download it. And it’s for Free, while quality is pretty good enough. So just go yourself and check it out. Happy and delicious meals for everyone who is on keto diet. Sorry forgot to give the link, here it is

  • Is Custokebon Secrets useful to lost crazy amounts of weight? We’ve read many good things about Custokebon Secrets (search on google).

  • I have to give this one to Dr Campbell he was much more persuasive and so I watched The China Study Documentary and now I have to ask? The gold standard is all cause mortality, what is the use of having 50% less chance of cancer if you die on average 10 years younger? In seems in The China Study Dr Campbell would have been in position to plot against all cause and he doesn’t, I imagine there is a reason why not.

  • Atkins taught me how bad and aging sugar is. It also reminds you why you didn’t like meat when you were little. Do it for a weekmeat will never look that good to you again. Add beans n nuts to plants n you won’t ever be hungry. Curry’sspaghetti with barley as the ” meat”betterthanbeef with beets added for color. It’s a whole new world that’s been waiting for us for centuries.

  • Hello there, have you thought about this diet plan called the Custokebon Secrets? My cousin says it helps people lost crazy amounts of weight. Is that possible? I also noticed many good review about this diet plan. Thoughts?

  • The reason why plant based advocates are so desperate in their totally misguided and misinformed “efforts” of finding something “bad” in animal foods is probably because they know that sooner or later people will catch up with the fact that plants are not “healthy” and that many of the so called benefits of the plant based diet is simply achievable through any elimination diet and probably even better on a proper carnivore diet. Plants are just not what marketing people have told us the whole time. Plants are problematic to say the least and this will come out sooner or later. So the only viable strategy is to smear and tear down animal foods so they can say: “but animal foods are worse!” No they are not.
    1. Plants are not in the business of being nutritious, plants are in the business of inhibiting nutrition, cause physical damage, poisoning, messing with digestion, messing with hormones, messing with physiological processes, messing with fertility, messing with the thyroid, messing with your insulin, messing with the gut, messing with nervous system, messing with sleep, inhibiting calorie absorption, messing with the brain and messing with well being in general. Plants don’t want to be eaten and they are expert chemist. In contrast animal foods are very satiating, easy to digest and come in the correct profile and ratios.

2.All plants are hard to digest, nutrient deficient, nutrient inhibiting, gut irritating, have bad bio availability, the wrong nutritional profile composition and ratios, have terrible absorption rates and are poisonous BY DESIGN and here is a non exhaustive list of plant defences that make this abundantly clear:
Phytic Acid, Lectins, Phytohemagglutin, Phytoalexins, Goitrogens, Oxalates, Tannines, Solanin, Salycalates, Sapine, Phytoestrogens, Isoflavones, Glucosinolates, Sulfides, Benzols, Glutamates, Protease Inhibitors, Gluten (celiac disease),  Cystine Protease Enzymes, Wheat-Germ-Agglutinin, Cyanogenic Glycosides, Photosensitizers, Phytoecdysones, Aflatoxin, Ochratoxin, Clostridium botulinum, Acrylamide, Furan, and also: Pesticide residue, solvent residues, heavy metals, that accumulate directly. Non such defences exist in animal foods.

3.How could anyone intellectually honest make the claim that plants are meant for us to eat or that they are the preferred or even superior food? This assumption preposterously dumb. Thats not even factoring in the nutrient deficiency of plants: Vitamin A, B6, B12, D, F, K2,  DHA, EPA, Taurin, Carnitin, Carnosin, Creatin, Heme-Iron, CoQ10, CLA, Cholesterol etc all missing in the catabolic plant based diet. The plant based diet is a catabolic fast and not a wholesome anabolic way of feeding yourself. The plant based diet can lead to orthorexia that causes psychosis in some of its cultist followers. We are facultative carnivores and we prefer animal foods for good evolutionary reasons.

    4. As the DIAAS score acknowledges plant proteins are of way worse quality than animal protein and that docent even yet factor in that most plants need to be cooked to remedy all the messy plant chemicals which also destroys most of the nutrients in the plants. Considering all this plants look absolutely terrible from a nutritional standpoint even ignoring the daily micro poisoning through the various chemical plant agents and natural pestizides.

    5. Is plant based better than the SAD diet? Yes probably but that’s the lowest bar possible to hurdle. Is the plant based diet the best diet? Certainly not, in fact its not a diet its a catabolic fast that can cause serious longterm issues

  • Do natural popular weight loss diet plan like Custokebon Secrets really work and if so, how effective are they? I have noticed several awesome things about this popular weight loss secrets.

  • This is a direct contradiction of the last low carb keto diet documentary i saw on netflix. I think you where on it too. The real problem is none of you dr people can come to any consensus about anything. Its a fucking joke. 75 % veges 25 protein WTF you where preaching eat all the fucking protein you can get. Your all so confusing and pathetic.

  • Checkout my keto diet recipe playlist with 90 different videos you can follow.

  • I have receintly have had gout. I need to loose weight. I love fish, but the diet for gout suggests not to eat fatty fish like sardines, tuna, shrimp etc. Is the protein low enough that I can now eat some of the drier fish and when I loose weight I will not have the threat of gout again

  • How widespread is ignorance is plain amazing! The comments section is sad. If anyone wants to know how we got to this state of collective ignorance, read Gary Taubes, Nina Teicholz, and Tim Noakes.

  • Keep in mind you don’t have to be 100% vegan to get the health benefits. The Okinawa people used to be one of the healthiest longest lived people on earth eating a starch based diet of sweet potatoes and rice, with lots of fruits and veggies. But they were NOT vegan. They were 95% whole food plant based. Something like 90% of their calories came from complex carbohydrates. But they did eat fish and pork occasionally. So you don’t have to be vegan. Just 95%. Save eating animal products for special occasions. Maybe eat a piece of fish on Sunday’s to celebrate the sabbath. Enjoy a steak in your birthday. But the rest of the time? Rice. Potatoes. Corn. Other whole grains. Fruit and vegetables. Honestly that’s what I do. I do like to eat an occasional piece is salmon about once per month. When I have something to celebrate. I’m in my 40s but my health is the same as a person in their early 20s. My diet is based on sweet potatoes and brown rice. I also eat a lot of fruit and some vegetables. But on a very rare occasion I’ll crave a nice piece of wild caught salmon. Not often. Maybe about once per month. Eating this way keeps my weight at ideal. My blood sugar levels and cholesterol are normal. I’m energetic and clear minded. I don’t care what they say. China study is the way for me too.

  • I’ve practiced keto for 6 months now. Migraine headaches GONE. 30 lbs down with LOADS of daily energy.
I am off of ALL migraine drugs, injections and hormone replacement meds. Add some yoga and giddy up life

  • Dr. Westman definitely won, he showed T. Colin Campbell’s reliance on epidemiology to form his hypothesis is not scientific fact until the hypothesis is backed up by random clinical trials, so T.Colin Campbell’s assertions that animal proteins cause cancer are just his unproven hypothesis which he is trying to present as scientific fact.

  • There is no question, Campbell won! Study what low carb doctor showed have many problems, what are listed in this page:

  • I use to feel cold all the time,I use to be ill most time. I visited hospitals more than visiting my friends and family. I was diogonsed with ulceractive colitis. Now an eating health and am hot. And When lockdown end I will be able to visit everywhere without shitting myself. I am grateful for my body for kicking out the toxic food,I was feeding it with. My doctor told me that your body is fighting your food like fighting bad bacteria. Now looking bag. My body was right. I now eat most organic veg and fruits. Organic meat in moderation. No more sugar pizza or Kentuky Fried Chicken. I boil my own at home. I am not taking any med for ulcerative colitis. No feeling cold most of the year. I feel 14 but biologically 40

  • It’s beyond confusing at this point, and I don’t know who to believe. This doctors says one thing, but I can quickly find another doctor who will say something else. There’s virtually no consensus as to what is sustainable long-term. The only consensus is that cutting calories (energy) will make the body eventually consume its stored energy (fat); and if enough of a deficit exists, the human will lose weight. This isn’t a consensus formed by medical doctors; it’s a consensus formed by physicists and the laws of thermodynamics. Medical doctors cannot take credit for this scientific understanding. The medical profession has fantastically failed their fellow humans by not understanding human diet well enough. And thinking about it thermodynamically, diet is likely responsible for most diseases and health problems.

  • Phytochemicals are plant defense chemicals, aka poisons to us. They’re not nutrients.
Also, it’s not spikes of blood sugar that are the problem. It’s the overall load.

Sure, follow this man’s advice and eat 21 cups of broccoli if you want some personal space in your house, LOL. You may create a new form of human propulsion from all that gas.

  • This was a year ago and this guy is still spewing wrong info on gluconeogenesis. Gluconeogenesis is demand driven, your body only converts the amount it needs to sustain health.

  • I am hypothyroid and have been doing the Keto diet with not good results and I have pains in my legs and sometimes my arms…I am 80 and considering giving it up because the pain is not worth it to me…,I am overweight and have been trying so hard to lose but it’s not working for me….I take 100 mcg of levothyroxine a day and also multi vitamin, with 2000 Vit D3, use coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, and organic veggies, sardines, mackerel, salmon, chicken, grass fed beef seldom, grass fed butter, noticing that multi vitamins do not include potassium or magnesium so I put mag in my water and eat greens, broccoli etc,, stevia in coffee……don’t know why I can’t lose anything while keeping carbs low, I need help… gp does not discuss any of this with me…..don’t think he believes in the Keto diet…..I live alone now and don’t know anyone doing the same diet that I can talk to….also why does no one talk about the need for vitamin C to help you with muscle, connective tissue, nails, etc

  • Diet Plan known as Custokebon Secrets kept showing up here on different videos and I thought they were scams. However after my cousin follow it, and finally lost tons of weight by using it without starving herself. I’m persuaded. Don’t take my own word for it, search for Custokebon Secrets on the google search engine.

  • Who on earth said Keto increases muscle mass?!! What research? cuz all I’ve seen is possible muscle mass loss and at best same as any traditional diet!!!! Claims are so painful… everyone says whatever!!!

  • When considering eating healthy, you have to try not to fall victim to modern day fad diet plans. Extreme diet plans undoubtedly are a danger for your health, especially ones that seriously restrict your everyday nutritional intake. While they might generate fast weight loss, these diets will never be a long-term solution for your weight problem. It is best to check out Custokebon Secrets on google as it is not just another fad diet where you starve yourself.

  • Sustainable would be the whole food plant based for me. I was interested in ketogenic diet but it was too strict and have to watch carefully your macronutrients and carb intake. I find that many people into keto were in it for weight loss or body builders. Im looking for a lifestyle eating that is great for overall health and fuss free. Eating meat and high fats from oils will get you full fast and longer for people who IF but I often feel gross and sleepy.

  • Hello, have you considered this diet plan called the Custokebon Secrets? My mate says it helps people lost a lot of weight. Is that possible? I also noticed many good review about this diet plan. Thoughts?

  • Either Dr Hyman should look at the host more to include her in the conversation or she should look toward the audience and not him. Otherwise, good information.

  • Colin won. No question about it. All westman did was to try and confuse the audience with lots of fancy words and so-called ”scienses”. I wonder who peer-rewied all those studies? Could it be some scientists with a boner for the meat, milk and egg industry perhaps?
And what mr westman might not be aware of is that the atkins diet wouldn’t be a sustainable food source for the 7 billions on the planet today. Plant-based can. So westman looses twice here
Westman says he’s done it for twelve years now, but i would bet if they take some tests and compare, colin is in better shape, despite his age.
As colin and other doctors and experts says: atkins shows only short-term results. Dont let westmans fancy words and ”science” fool you.

  • Watch “The Great Nutrition Debate 2000″ and see Atkins 2.5 years before he died…He’s got NO NECK! Dr McDougall was sitting right next to him and still wished he’d had the guts to say, ” Hey Bob, how about getting up, taking your jacket off and showing the proof of your diet”. Lowcarb Dieters come in the same package as Climate Change Denialists. That’s the way it is on a Flat Earth, right?

  • I admire Dr. Hyman, but he totally ignores his interviewer, and goes so far to complain that she held up a poster in front of him. So she held it in front of herself after his comment. SMH

  • My Dr suggested Keto, since my A1C is 9. All my lab tests came back great. No kidney damage. Been on keto 2,days sugar went down to 120. Nite reading. Too fast. I feel horrible and I think this diet dangerous for Diabetics. I think we need some carb. Going back on WW

  • The key for me, having explored both in the pursuit of health is that if you stray from the whole food plants based diet (say a weeks vacation) you might put on a little weight. If you stray from Keto for a week you need to undergo a painful withdrawal period, a sickness, for at least a week. Life is for living. Personally I will fast if I want to lose some fat, and I will get into ketosis doing that in a short time and for a one of two days.

  • This guy is just amazing! Smart nice keeps it simple but still detailed! Not cocky, he just loves to give all the information… also he knows everything

  • I have been 4 weeks with a personalized #keto diet plan and I have lost 7 kilos and I have to confess that this is hard to believe, it is really amazing to see how my body is transformed into something that I feel proud instead of something that I always tried to hide.

  • Wondering what the thoughts are regarding CVI and swelling when too much sodium intake, I guess?

Went on a binge eating Jack’s frozen pizza’s and ankles started swelling again. I use bottled and lately distilled water with my tea and half and half and am wondering what is the best supplement for the distilled or bottled water since is most likely demineralized?

I had this happen before and I think is related to issues like with the U.S. Diplomats, Staff, Family and others in Cuba and China that came out well disclosed more-so in the CBS News 60 Minutes report on Sept. 1 st 2019:

Even so, main question and concern is going to be how to get my mineral intake optimized in my known clean safe water source.
Stretching exercises got the swelling down along with no more processed foods that have the high sodium, i.e. 500mg per serving as the worst was the Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup at 1970mg per 2 serving bag that I haven’t used in a few weeks since I noticed before this round was causing… though I didn’t notice the slight discoloration above the ankles like spider veins and like red/purple under the skin and the freckles that I assumed prior were from sand flea bites. Time to start up some calisthenics once this swelling has stabilized and I get rid of the discoloration. The warmth period went away, so that’s good. No edema now. (probably can photograph this incident too as I just made two instructables, 450MHz Yagi and Spiral Conical Antenna the Form, for detecting and wondering if that irritated the remote operators)

Reading this WHO document ( ) I’m thinking will be more cost effective to invest in some food or pharma grade minerals and supplement what’s not in the ratio of the Real Salt.

This is what I got out of reading and am still working on narrow down though figured I’d note online for some feedback:

    The 1980 WHO report

Salts are leached from the body under the influence of drinking water with a low TDS.

Because adverse effects such as altered water-salt balance were observed not only in completely

desalinated water but also in water with TDS between 50 and 75 mg/L, the team that prepared the

1980 WHO report (3) recommended that the minimum TDS in drinking water should be 100

mg/L. The team also recommended that the optimum TDS should be about 200-400 mg/L for

chloride-sulphate waters and 250-500 mg/L for bicarbonate waters (WHO 1980). The

recommendations were based on extensive experimental studies conducted in rats, dogs and

human volunteers. Water exposures included Moscow tap water, desalinated water of

    approximately 10 mg/L TDS, and laboratory-prepared water of 50, 100, 250, 300, 500, 750, 1000,

and 1500 mg/L TDS using the following constituents and proportions: Cl
    (40%), HCO3 (32%),
    SO4 (28%) / Na (50%), Ca (38%), Mg (12%). A number of health outcomes were investigated

including: dynamics of body weight, basal and nitrogen metabolism, enzyme activity, water-salt

homeostasis and its regulatory system, mineral content of body tissues and fluids, hematocrit, and

ADH activity. The optimal TDS was associated with the lowest incidence of adverse effect,

negative changes to the human, dog, or rat, good organoleptic characteristics and thirst-quenching

properties, and reduced corrosivity of water.

In addition to the TDS levels, the report (3)

Based on the currently available data, various researchers have recommended that the

following levels of calcium, magnesium, and water hardness should be in drinking water:

    • For magnesium, a minimum of 10 mg/L (33, 56) and an optimum of about 20-30 mg/L (49,

    • For calcium, a minimum of 20 mg/L (56) and an optimum of about 50 (40-80) mg/L (57,

    • For total water hardness, the sum of calcium and magnesium should be 2 to 4 mmol/L (37,

    50, 59, 60).

At these concentrations, minimum or no adverse health effects were observed. The

maximum protective or beneficial health effects of drinking water appeared to occur at the

estimated desirable or optimum concentrations. The recommended magnesium levels were based

on cardiovascular system effects, while changes in calcium metabolism and ossification were used

as a basis for the recommended calcium levels. The upper limit of the hardness optimal range was

derived from data that showed a higher risk of gall stones, kidney stones, urinary stones, arthrosis

and arthropathies in populations supplied with water of hardness higher than 5 mmol/L.

Long-term intake of drinking water was taken into account in estimating these

concentrations. For short-term therapeutic indications of some waters, higher concentrations of

    these elements may be considered.

All four Central European countries that became part

of the EU in May 2004 have included the following requirements in their respective regulations

    but varying in binding power;

    • Czech Republic (2004): for softened water ≥ 30 mg/L calcium and ≥ 10 mg/L magnesium;

guideline levels of 40-80 mg/L calcium and 20–30 mg/L magnesium (hardness as Σ Ca + Mg

    = 2.0 – 3.5 mmol/L).

    • Hungary (2001): hardness 50 – 350 mg/L (as CaO); minimum required concentration of 50

mg/L must be met in bottled drinking water, new water sources, and softened and desalinated

    • Poland (2000): hardness 60–500 mg/L (as CaCO3).

    • Slovakia (2002): guideline levels > 30 mg/L calcium and 10 – 30 mg/L magnesium.

The Russian technical standard Astronaut environment in piloted spaceships – general

medical and technical requirements (64) defines qualitative requirements for recycled water

intended for drinking in spaceships. Among other requirements, the TDS should range between

100 and 1000 mg/L with minimum levels of fluoride, calcium and magnesium being specified by

a special commission separately for each cosmic flight. The focus is on how to supplement

recycled water with a mineral concentrate to make it “physiologically valuable” (65).

  • Hello, have you considered this kind of diet plan known as the Custokebon Secrets? My cousin says it helps people lost a ton of weight. Is that possible? I also read many great review relating to this diet plan. Thoughts?

  • SO many FOOD GURUS out there, and most of them don’t have enough information or education about how our body works, as well as Big Food and Big Pharma Trolls spreading misinformation. They are ruining Keto and Paleo diets by telling people it’s OK to eat garbage. KFC is NOT Keto no matter how much you want it to be. These two diets are meant to teach us to eat healthy delicious healing diets, KFC is FAR from it. Just because it’s meat and it’s fried in Fat, it does not make it Keto, Hamburgers from a fast food place are also not keto, even if you just put them in a lettuce wrap, because the meat is from sick animals and full of pesticides and disease.

You have to pay attention to what is healing and good for you. Franken chickens, or beef, from factory farms, fried in horrible, rancid, highly processed oil from GMO crops, ARE DEADLY.

You really need to learn to distinguish the Huge difference for your life and your families. <3

  • I started Keto but now I have been Carnivore for 6 months 90% of the time. Feeling even better on Carnivore than Keto so I disagree with Mark Hyman says also meat does not destroy the planet you have all been hoodwinked and even Mark Hyman has obviously been manipulated to. The environment is being damaged by cars, planes and industry not from cows farting. We need to get cattle, sheep, pigs, deer back onto pastures, fields and STOP feeding them grains, this is not their natural food. Vegetables are not good for many of us Oxalate Toxicity. Also his comments about Fibre are now being questioned. Listen to Dr Zoe Harcombe about fibre. Fasting is very healthy search Autophagy and listen to Dr Jason Fung, Dr Mindy Pelz, Ken D Berry MD. The green juice he is drinking if you have a poor gut biome from eg. anti biotics, his juice is high in Oxalates. So you can end up with Oxalate Toxicity which causes many problems in the body search Sally K Norton, Elliot Overton both on you tube and they both have their own websites.

  • “Cancer” is caused by sugar, fructose, fungus, yeasts, molds, toxic diets, pesticides, dairy, hormones,” prions “, virus in meat, chlorinated water,, high oxalate crystals, high uric acid,, Stress, UV radiation exposure, G5 towers, electric magnetic radiation-damaged, heated fats, fried foods, high protein diets, processed food, refine carbohydrates.

Many people feel tired and depressed they exercise they eat healthy..They forget that Candida fungus and yeast in the body cause chronic fatigue, brain fog, chronic depression and many diseases in the brain and body ; Fungus, candida and yeast love fructose -> Fruit and high refined carbohydrates.

Fructose causes a “fatty liver”…damages the liver, weight gain, and feeds parasites, Candida, yeast in the body..

all bacteria, virus fungus love “fruit sugar “.__ Fruit is poison and addictive! > (fructose)

“Cats claw” is a an amazing herb it good for Amyloid in Alzheimer’s great to kill candida and virus also taking oregano oils, MSM sulfur, coconut oils are good for fungus and yeast or you can go to your doctor and get a prescription for anti-fungal medication called “NYSTATIN”

Watch what you put in your mouth.

Don’t dig your grave with your teeth.

Coffee is another drug (caffeine ) makes the liver to release sugar to the blood and this causes ” insulin” surge to be released by the pancreas..the result is hunger and weight gain!

-If you’re trying to losing weight the solution is “Fasting ” and eating a plant base diet..the less you eat the longer you will live.

great book ; The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss by DR. Jason Fung

A “mycotoxin ” is a toxic secondary metabolite produced by organisms of the fungus kingdom and is capable of causing disease and death in both humans and other animals. The term ‘mycotoxin’ is usually reserved for the toxic chemical products produced by fungi that readily colonize crops

= Mycotoxins are toxic compounds that are naturally produced by certain types of moulds (fungi). Moulds that can produce mycotoxins grow on numerous foodstuffs such as cereals, dried fruits, nuts and spices.

-Aflatoxins are amongst the most poisonous mycotoxins and are produced by certain moulds (Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus) which grow in soil, decaying vegetation, hay, and grains. Crops that are frequently affected by Aspergillus spp. include cereals (corn, sorghum, wheat and rice), oilseeds (soybean, peanut, sunflower and cotton seeds), spices (chili peppers, black pepper, coriander, turmeric and ginger) and tree nuts (pistachio, almond, walnut, coconut and Brazil nut).

The toxins can also be found in the milk of animals that are fed contaminated feed, in the form of aflatoxin M1. Large doses of aflatoxins can lead to acute poisoning (aflatoxicosis) and can be life threatening, usually through damage to the liver. Aflatoxins have also been shown to be genotoxic, meaning they can damage DNA and cause cancer in animal species. There is also evidence that they can cause liver cancer in humans.

Ochratoxin A is produced by several species of Aspergillus and Penicillium and is a common food-contaminating mycotoxin. Contamination of food commodities, such as cereals and cereal products, coffee beans, dry vine fruits, wine and grape juice, spices and liquorice, occurs worldwide.

  • Now I know why Duke dropped their successful Rice Diet that cured those with kidney problems, obesity problems, it is people like Dr Westman probably got it shut down seeing rice is a carb

  • When you’ve come to agreement and follow a particular diet, the only rational thing to do is keep the sharpest ear open to opposing views. Otherwise, you just continue to reinforce your own bias and just may forever continue riding on the wrong bus for “you.”

  • I give the second guy credit for having the nerve to speak after dr Campbell. The whole time I’m wanting to see Campbell’s face as he speaks his dribble

  • Dr. Campbell often discusses the plot at 50:15. He likes to point out that the R-value is 0.94 but out the covariance matrix. The variances are huge! That means you can’t suggest that the data show that there is no level of animal fat intake that doesn’t relate to a rise in breast cancer risk, which he does. Why is a scientist being so careless? To his credit, he does stress “in theory”, but that’s actually a misuse of the word! A theory is a model supported by evidence! He also speaks in hyperbole and misuses words like “infinite” in a really sophomoric way. I think he also makes the mistake of confusing correlation with causation. The fact that the variance in these data is large suggests that this is a highly multivariate problem. Dr. Campbell is guilty of the very thing for which he indicts the entire heath-research profession: over-reductionism. That’s not to say there isn’t some fairness to his indictment of the research field, but I want to point out that all researchers have blind spots, which is why we do science. We (scientists) don’t talk that way. It reminds me of Dr. Oz. (I’m a physicist, by the way, not a medical or health scientist. But these scientific tools are common to all of science. Any of us can see when they’re misused.)

  • Studys show clearly how sugar is the villain, and NOT fats! Fats are good for you! Our species developed its brains on fats in fact! Our brains are BASED on cholesterol and so are our hormones! That both are required for a good health. Sugar plant food is harmful (chronical) if eaten too much and too frequently without breaks for the body to recover! Back in time we did not have agriculture, but we had plants ONLY seasonal and very timeframe limited each year for only a few days too weeks! Our main food was animal sourced and even stonecave engravings show this clearly! By showing scenery of hunting, which was very important for those tribes in fact! They wanted to save those storys, so they painted them on cavewalls! Because they had an important meaning to them!:) Our health issues started, when plant agriculture started! Since we began to eat more starchy foods more frequently and in higher amounts! While even changing those plants, by picky selection of seeds, to promote those ones with bigger fruit parts. Ofcourse modern medicine compensates for other illnesses that killed us back in the past now, but our more modern diet from today is what kills us so fast and promotes cancer growth aswell! Every diabetic who doesn’t inject insuline and where the sugar stays inside the arteries and then does damage to the blood arteries can tell a song about this! It’s clearly visible how the SUGAR that stays inside the arteries then triggers inflammation, which clogs the arteries! Our body just tries to seal those inflammations with cholesterol, so that other minerals do not stick to this sticky inflammated area! But since the inflammation will never stop, because we eat more and more of sugar crap, there is no healing! And so it clogs more and more until we are dead…

And about this china study book from colin campbell, he wrote it after he became vegan himself. It is highly influenced by his agenda mindset and does not even link to the original study books data! So it’s nothing more than propaganda, not truly showing the real data outcome of this chinese study… A massive book that does NOT show data that could be interpreted as Campbell tried it with his small vegan propaganda book later!

  • It’s still astonish me just how many people have no idea about Custokebon Secrets even though lots of people using it. Thanks to my mate who told me about this. I’ve lost tons of fat.

  • Atkins, Keto side only really looks at short term benefits and weight loss. Whole food plant-based high carb low-fat looks at HEALTH, especially the heart and brain.

  • We evolved to eat raw meat and fish. Especially raw organ meats. Unpleasant but true. We are not physically evolved away from that. Maybe a million years from now we will be evolved to live on Pepsi and ramen noodles. Not today.

  • This is just superb, I have been researching “eating no carbs” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Ronaliana Future Falbala (do a google search )? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my friend got great success with it.

  • We now know the secret is to eat a high fat diet, zero carbs, and ONLY enough protein to keep the body intact and functioning. The body appears to be designed to subsist on fats for energy (and making brain, nerve, cell membranes), proteins and minerals for structure (including enzymes). The fact that we have molars does not mean we were evolved to chew on carbohydrates. People chew on meat with their molars too. The fact that we can’t make ascorbic acid from glucose doesn’t mean we aren’t basically carnivore. The fact that we need a lot of Omega 3 and cannot really make it ourselves again indicates we are carnivore. Fish, grass eating animals seem to be our basic diet. Organ meats of wild animals. Nowhere are exogenous carbohydrates indicated. In fact, in the case of vitamin C, glucose competes with it in absorption. There is no evidence that the body evolved to live on glucose, and plenty of evidence it is a ketone using body.

  • I was vegan including 80/10/10 for a while. Vegan for several years. I’m just angry or disappointed they lied about things and omitted facts, those who should know. I don’t say vegan or high carb can’t work. I don’t try to get people to stop. I’m not a pushy person. But I feel betrayed. I take responsibility for not being open minded enough or whatever, but too many vegan or low fat authorities are either not in the know, or are misleading. Bad actors. For example, the design of China study, and about casein in his experimentation. See masterjohn. That fat, cholesterol and salt aren’t bad for you, even good. That sugar spikes insulin. That I don’t need to worry or obsess about nutrition as a young man. That cooking and meat led to our human evolution. But the worst is how they scare us from nutrients like cholesterol and saturated fat, and are always talking about the “meat and dairy industry and lobby” as if there’s no soy and carbohydrate lobby (ha) or statin lobby for that matter, which doesn’t care about diet but does stress that cholesterol is the enemy, which vegetarians take up and run with. I have no hate to vegans, only deceivers and omitters. I do think they tend to the skinny and I find I feel better being stronger and bigger. Being low body fat percentage that makes you look “cut” where you can see muscles does not mean they are bigger or you are strong, though it does look pretty. Anyway argue veganism honestly even if it means you have to use the oldest argument ever and the originalthat you care about the animals and it’s an ethical choice, which might entail health or effort sacrifice to fulfill

  • I know that cancer will grow from eating meat and dairy. My mom had cancer at the same time as my uncle. They both had the same cancer. Mom stopped eating meat for 6 months and the cancer was gone. My uncle kept eating the meat along with his normal diet. We buried him at the end of the same 6 month period. So you decide

  • LOL, a Ketogenic diet results in weight loss, controlled type 2 diabetes and prevents other complications high sugar in the body brings and T.Colin Campbell is worried about constipation, headaches, bad breath, muscle cramps, diarrhea, general weakness and rash? LOL

  • The body will use whatever fuel you give it because it has no choice. If you give it fat it will burn fat. If you give it predominantly starch then that’s what it’ll burn. If all you eat is cupcakes then that’s what it’ll burn. But what gives you the most nutrients, has the least (or no) side effects, and provides the best health? PLANT BASED, no question. Campbell wins hands down. Westbrook made only mute points.

  • The single most important thing you can eat for weight loss is a CALORIE DEFICIT.

Everything else is just a way to trick yourself into achieving that.

Unless you’re dealing with insulin resistance, you may need to build back up that insulin sensitivity by going low carb for a while.

  • me and my partner started the Keto diet, even with the COVI-19 situation is a bit challenging. But keep your Ketosi under control is very important, so we bought a couple of Ketosi Meter here. I thinks is better not sharing to not spread bacteria. STAY SAFE

  • By the way, Dr Atkins died of obesity and the person doing the autopsy stated he never seen arteries so clogged with plaque. And the reason for the “side-effect” of constipation is that there is NO fiber in animal products. As a vegan I poop two or three times a day.

  • No debate needed.
Any diet requiring the suffering and death of any living being which then hastens the suffering and death of populations consuming it can’t be defended.

  • Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I have heard many awesome things about it and my work buddy lost crazy amounts of weight with Custokebon Secrets (just search it on google).

  • The WFPB low oil diet is a vegan form of ketogenic diet. No added sugars… lower not none fruits… pasta is not a whole food. Fiber loaded potatoes rice and peas corn vegies are low carbs. What raises insulin levels… oils that coat the blood arteries liver pancreas muscles and blocks sugars and insulin from entering muscles exiting pancreas etc. lower oil of all kinds for 5 days and see what happens. EXPERIMENT on yourself.

  • What are some ways to lost crazy amounts of weight? I read lots of great opinions on the internet about how Custokebon Secrets will help you lost tons of weight. Has anybody tested out this popular fat burn diet plan?

  • My first impression is that the host was kind of unprofessional. She read from a script more than directly talking to the audience. Also the Dr. Should have talked facing the host. It was unnatural for a interview to be conducted with the host staring at the guest and the guest mostly toward the audience.

  • Friend is doing Keytosis diet and is getting horrible knee pain. Would ozone help this? Is this from uric acid? Is it from a live of oxilates? I’m putting magnets around the knee with the north side of the magnet facing the knee to dissolve the acids.

  • Oh Boy DanYou Just Messed me up with that sugar alcohol stuff:-) I was not counting those, and I drink A LOT of bai drinks, which have stevia and erythritol….yikes! thanks for info!

  • Whole wheat pasta, grains and beans are complex carbs and an important part of a well balanced diet.. They are high in fiber and they don’t cause a spike in insulin, but rather they release their energy over a longer period of time. This not only helps you feel satisfied longer, but also provides sustained energy, which will improve workouts.

  • From the outset, the moderator misrepresents the Atkins diet, which is not a high protein diet. Then Campbell begins his talk, and carries on with the supposition that the whole debate is about low protein versus high protein, which it is not. The problematic dietary ingredient is carbohydrate, especially sugar and processed carbohydrates. This is disgraceful; he finished his 18 minutes without any mention of carbohydrates, junk food, and sugar, but he takes time to distract us with an irrelevant digression about nutritional supplements.
Now Dr. Westman begins to speak, and immediately drops the ball. He needed to call out the moderator on her misrepresentation of the debate. This is essential, otherwise he is permitting her and Campbell to frame the debate to serve their purposes, and permitting the audience to be misled. Many uninformed people in the audience probably get the impression that he is changing the subject when he begins to talk about carbohydrate, when he is really bringing the debate back on track to the real subject, and not distracting us with protein. I must say, his presentation is too soft and fuzzy. I imagine people in the audience asking themselves if these two professionals are talking about the same topic, and not understanding that the deviation from the topic was perpetrated by Campbell, not Westman.
He goes on about “respiratory quotient.” Perhaps everyone in the audience understands what “respiratory quotient” is, but I doubt it. Certainly, not all of us watching on youtube know what that is, so right away he loses a certain percentage of his audience. Did he not know that the vast majority of those hearing his words would not be in that little audience at the university? Oh, he thinks everyone knows what Y-axis and X-axis are. He is probably a good doctor, but he is not good at presenting this information to us. A shame.

  • Just wonderful, been searching for “carb cycling method” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried Nantray Carb Caboodle (search on google )? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate got amazing success with it.

  • I have started counting total carbs on things that are packaged and net carbs on things that are single ingredient things like avocados.

  • This is very interesting and informative but I have to say, I’ve heard the doctor say twice so far that you can be vegan and keto. The fact that you have a friend who does it is highly anecdotal. What does your friend eat? Does your friend track macros on a regular basis? How old is your friend? Does she know whether or not she’s eating sufficient calories? I have been keto, and I have been vegan. I don’t do anything with nutrition and health without studying it very thoroughly. If it’s actually possible to be vegan and keto successfully, I need that proven. Stop saying it’s possible without proving it. Please.

Also, twice now I’ve heard you say that it is a therapeutic diet, it’s not for everyone. Who is it not for? Who are the people you feel are going to be harmed if they eat it and where is that evidence?

  • So low fat high carb, high fat low carb why cant people understand that they both work! You just cant do both meaning anytime you go high carb high fat or low carb low fat you get sick! We have to get energy from one source not both.

  • The ketogenic diet is also very helpful for those with hereditary gout.
Also people who are gluten sensitive or celiac are often also fructose sensitive, so should stay away from high carb fruits.

  • I read loads of good opinions on the internet about how exactly Custokebon Secrets will help you lost crazy amounts of fat. Has anyone tested out this popular lose weight secrets?

  • Keto is great but with Intermittent fasting it’s 10 times better.
If you have insulin resistance/fatty liver issues you need to fast, even if doing Keto.
You have to get healthy to lose weight, you don’t lose weight to get healthy.

  • The human body was NOT meant to run on massive amounts of carbohydrates. We wonder why we have epidemics of depression and obesity on our hands.

Your body wants fats and proteins period!

Unfortunately, carbohydrates have a long lasting effect on the body and can make you feel terrible going without them for an extended period. Usually months, but I can assure you getting off them is the key.

  • Yes, in the UK we’ll have to be careful with net carb numbers on labels. I used your Chia example via google then looked it up in Sainsburys and saw that Sainsburys separate out everything as separate line items Chia still shows at 8g Carbs / 100g of seeds but it doesn’t say its a net or gross or show any way it was calculated. I think I’d like it more if there was a bit more math shown, but I don’t think I personally can get the food industry to change overnight on this!!!! Overall, a terrific video. All new knowledge to me and ultra helpful.

FYI on day 6 of keto flu hasn’t been too bad as I’ve taken plenty of salts and stayed hydrated. Had the other symptoms in a mild form. Really quite excited how this is going to go over the next month

  • IMO, Dr. Campbell won. Its very simple. Probably everyone has heard of plant products treating some disease. eg. flax reduces hypertension. Now imagine the same thing for animal products, for instance, eat broiler hen to treat kidney disease or eat buffalo to cure diabetes. etc sounds crazy right. now decide which is better. ofc #wfpb! In fact, Dr. Westman’s talk was always revolving around weight loss through ketosis. Nothing much.

  • I recommend this book where you can find the best Keto recipes and all the tips to improve your nutrition. It has helped me a lot!

  • Late watching this but as I’m just about to go shopping for the week I thought I must watch it. I always stick to total carb values as previous I was in low sugar diet (it didn’t work) so I always look at total carb now. Interested about the net carb figure tho and one I’ll pay attention too particular in my sweetners!

  • there is a difference between keto diet and atkins. Keto or Low carb High Fat is normal protein intake. Its the fat that replaces the reduction in carbs. I am 185 lbs down from 225 lbs and I think I might eat between 60 grams to 80 grams max. While bodybuilders sugest 1 to 1.5 grams of protein / lbs. Thats crazy. I am keto and eat alot of non starchy vegetables and berries every few days. My fats do come from meats when I eat it but also from nuts, (olive oil, avacado oil, coconut oil & MCT oil). I eat alot of vegetables with the olive oil, balsalmic and apple cider with garlic. I avoid ALL man made fabricated vegetable oils (Canola, soybean, ect ect) as solvents are used to extract oils from the seeds and they are very high in pro inflammatory omega 6 with a molecular instability leading to oxidation and radicals. So basically all packages/processed foods are eliminated.

To be honest the research supports both sides of the argument. Keto versus vegan which leads to debates that go nowhere because each side has a stack of research to support there views. However I did try vegan for a year and a half and even if I like keto for me personally I support plant based vegan diets as well. I see many people thrive on it. Anyways I just felt like sharing.

  • I’m not sure but,if anyone else is searching for atkins diet recipes try Voneyton Uncontrollable Progression (do a google search )? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got great success with it.

  • People, try custom keto diet! IT WORKS I have lost 49lbs since I started. Check how it works at You tell them what food you like, what is your age, weight ets and they will give you 8 weeks custom keto meal plan tailored for you

  • Hi there, I want to know if Custokebon Secrets, will work for me? I see many people keep on speaking about this popular lose weight methods.

  • At the end of the argument, the plant-based diet is the most sustainable in the long term. There is enough protein, in a balanced plant diet, to meet the daily demands, even for athletes.
Environmentally, meat production pollutes 15% of the planet, Americans are eating 3 times more meat than anyone else on the planet. 1-lb of beef requires 2000 gal of water, just to produce. All meat sources consume 6 times more plants than if we just go straight and eat the plant. Deforestation today is due to cattle raising. This is not sustainable.
Genetically, anatomically, and physiologically, we are not made for meat! There are plenty of new research studies that prove it.

  • hey,if anyone else trying to find out what to do for acid reflux try Bablim Rapid Heartburn Booster (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work buddy got cool success with it.

  • A carbohydrate addict is not addicted to whole vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes. I’m a carbohydrate addict too. I successfully broke this addiction by going to a whole food, plant based, sugar free, oil free, salt free diet. A carbohydrate addict is addicted to processed foods. For the first time in my life, i feel empowered over my eating. When my eating disorder rears its ugly head, I feast/gorge on WFPD SOS Free foods, and in the process, still losing weight.

  • I have tried everything. I gained weight in places where I didn’t want them. It was a struggle to get them off. Weight in my stomach, thighs, and definitely my CHEEKS!! I’m so thankful I found I wanted a change that worked fast and stay consistent! I cut out junk food and processed foods, and drink plenty of water with minimal exercises and stayed consistent with my KETO diet. I hope it helps and inspires others! Now I kickbox and personal train people that need help too!

  • Dr Campbell was the only one that sounded like he has a science background the other guy sounded like he was reading for a television ad….wfpb is now my new lifestyle and I will start Dr Campbell’s classes for a proper education….. Thanks for helping me make the change over

  • Guys. Here is a better way to explain this. He is talking about a low carb diet. Volume and Calories is different. Volume is the amount of plate space. Calories is the energy in food from fat, carbs, and protein. When he is talking about 75% volume on your plate of slow carbs, he doesn’t mean 75% calories come from slow carbs. He is just saying that is how much to put on your plate. Those slow carb foods obviously are low in calories. 25% of your plate comes from healthy high calorie foods that have fat and protein in them like meat and poultry and pork and fish. Those will all take up less volume on your plate but still be higher in calories. So this is a low carb diet technically.

  • Does Custokebon Secrets really work? I notice many people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets. But Im uncertain if it is good enough to lost crazy amounts of fat.

  • I hear many people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets. But I’m not sure if it’s good. Have you ever tried this popular lose weight method?

  • “Conclusion Compared with a usual diet comparison group, a low-fat dietary pattern led to a lower incidence of deaths after breast cancer” “A low-fat dietary intervention was associated with reduced pancreatic cancer incidence in women” “CVD risk in postmenopausal women appears to be sensitive to a change to a low-fat dietary pattern and, among healthy women, includes both CHD benefit and stroke risk”

  • Wow! Westman blew Campbell out of the water! But considering how shallow and unsubstantiated Campbell’s argument was, I think any bright kid with a high school biology class could have done the same. I feel kind of sorry for Dr. Campbell. He was totally outgunned.

  • This video is titled wrong is not Akins its Keto vs Raw Plant Base. Atkins and keto or two different things. Akin’s is high protein and Keto is high Fat..

  • Very good video! If you guys are interested in learning more ways to lose weight, here is a Keto diet program that has changed my life and thousands of others.

  • Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I have heard many extraordinary things about it and my buddy lost crazy amounts of weight with Custokebon Secrets (do a google search).

  • Hong Kong has a population of about 7.5 million people. They are the longest lived of any developed country and THEY EAT MORE MEAT PER PERSON THAN ANY OTHER NATION. Dr. Campbell ignores that fact. Wonder what his motivation is?

  • Balance. I believe carbs are to blame for most problems, but that doesn’t mean eat tons of meats, you can eat more whole foods and ditch grains and sugar

  • I always followed Dr. Atkins on radio when he was alive. I lived in NYC, so to hear him on the radio was easy and so looked forward to. Colette was very close to DR. RCA, so I look to her for the latest on the Atkins Lifestyle. Keep up the great work Colette!
