Orange Cauliflower “Chicken” That Will Surprise You • Tasty

Video taken from the channel: Tasty

To create the batter, whisk together coconut milk, flour, garlic powder, garlic powder, ginger, onion powder, and salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Stir until smooth. Coat cauliflower pieces with batter and place on baking sheet.

Bake for 20 minutes until cauliflower turns slightly golden brown. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash and cut cauliflower into bite sized pieces.

In a bowl, combine the water, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Place the panko bread crumbs in a separate bowl. Dip each piece of cauliflower in the water/flour mixture, tap off excess, then roll in the panko bread crumbs. 1 large head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized pieces 1 cup canned coconut milk ¾ cup all-purpose flour (I use gluten-free) 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon onion powder ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon pepper. For the orange glaze: ½ cup vegetable broth ½ cup orange juice ½ teaspoon orange zest ¼ cup brown sugar. While the cauliflower is baking, mix together in a bowl the vegetable broth, orange juice, sugar, white vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, orange zest, ground ginger, & white pepper.

Pour mixture into a medium-sized saucepan on. 1/2 a large cauliflower broken in to bite size pieces. The Cauliflower Batter: 1 cup of flour (I used rice flour but regular all purpose flour works fine) 1/2 tsp of salt. 1 tsp of garlic powder. 1 tsp of onion powder. (optional) 1 tsp of ground ginger.

1/2 tsp of black pepper. Chop the cauliflower into smaller pieces to resemble the size of bites. In a separate bowl, whisk the gluten free flour, almond milk, salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder and crushed red pepper flakes in a bowl to make the batter. In another separate bowl, place the breadcrumbs.

Line it up beside the batter bowl. Slice the cauliflower into large bite-size pieces. Or cut into nugget size if making for kids.

Make the crispy coating by mixing together the cornmeal, bread crumbs, ground hemp seeds (or almond flour), and salt, then place it in a shallow baking dish. You can also put it into a large plastic bag for the shake and bake option. Fry in oil until completely browned and allow to drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

In a clean skillet, heat the oil and garlic for 1 minute. Add green onions, zest and juice. Cook another 1 minute.

Add soy sauce and vinegar and bring to a boil. Toss in crispy cauliflower. First, break the cauliflower into bite-sized floret. The batter for this orange cauliflower is broken down into two parts.

First, we need an egg-like custard to coat the cauliflower in a thick gooey layer. This first step allows the flour mixture to better adhere to the cauliflower which creates the crispy skin. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Wash and cut a small head of cauliflower into bite-sized chunks. Prepare batter in a large bowl and dip cauliflower pieces in batter until completely covered. Place the cauliflower pieces on a.

  • I’m tired of all these posts of ( first, or what # folks are & gifting my next however many new subs, etc…) i think for all of us folks who are interested in other folks opinons of the recipe should do this to maybe put a stop to it. Start out your post with the word” first, 1/st, & then i’m gifting everybody”, ( because that is all they say, no reference to the recipe, then skim right through the posts to find the ones you want to read), then post your comment on the recipe good or bad, etc… especially if you have made it & tried it. I am interested in that info, not what someone has done to be in any particular number/order, to post/comment, i don’t give a shit. They most have some kind of OCD, & i ain’t interested in a spam gift. Maybe that will put a stop to it or at least reduce the worthless posts. We are the majority of subs/viewers so let’s try.

  • Not eating much lately due to being broke, i will this at my local Chinese asap. I heard orange chicken was spicy, he never mentioned anything about spiciness.

  • I’ve been making a different orange cauliflower “chicken” recipe that I found on Pinterest a year ago, but this one actually seems like it might taste better and hold together better. The one I use calls for breadcrumbs and they usually start to fall off the baked cauliflower once I put the sauce on and it’s annoying

  • AH! I’m so excited! I love your recipes, but I recently went vegetarian and the first thing I thought was how sad I was going to be because I couldn’t eat korean fried chicken anymore. Hopefully, this will be an okay substitute! thank you!!

  • If you are vegan like myself make sure you have a side high in protein since your main isn’t protein. That is something interesting I’ve found being vegan is sometimes you make your sides really nutritious so you can eat some insanely delicious as the main xD

  • I feel like it would be cheaper to just go to Panda Express than buy all these ingredients and cook it….but thank you for this recipe in quarantine!.

  • I actually sampled cauliflower that tasted like orange chicken when I was Costco once. It was pretty good. I highly recommend it for vegetarians

  • Few months before the pandemic hit ny I had the pleasure of trying cauliflower fried korean fried “chicken”. I was so hooked. That was my to go meal on Fridays during lent since I can not eat meat. I now eat it regularly. Sometimes you need to have a meatless day and this hits the spot! I will 100% try this. Thanks for sharing!

  • I tried to make something like this and ended up really disappointed. It took forever, was supposed to be baked with bread crumbs which mostly fell off, and then it just didn’t taste very good. I wished I had just roasted the cauliflower and ate it that way and made actual chicken for the sauce. Roasted cauliflower is really good and so many less steps. Lol

  • Seasoning is a bit less as when you eat the chicken it tastes bland..id add sriracha and chilli fakes to the marination along with paprika

  • I’ve tried this recipe and the chicken turned out AMAZING but the only this I would change next time would to to double the sauce recipe!

  • Pretty good but here’s some advice. Use only 1 cup of milk and flour unless your using two cauliflower. Also don’t use 1/4 cup of soy sauce unless you like it to taste very soy sauce.

3: YOU CAN ALSO USE CHICKEN BREAST BUT IT WILL BE LESS CRISPY AND IF YOU HAVE CHICKEN BREAST THEN HERE IS MY RECIPE THAT WORKS FOR ME

  • Just wondering, is it common to say “orange saft” in the U.S? Saft (juice) is actually German (Orangensaft = orange juice) and I never heard an american say “orange saft” or saft for juice.
    Anyway greetings from Germany.

If I have one more “what I eat in a day vegan” video recommended to me I’m throwing away all my kale.
