  • If it isn’t 100% whole wheat, bread can contain enriched flour, which gives you a sugar spike and crash without any nutritional value. Basically, enriched flour means nutrients are stripped from the bread. Swap it for: Fiber-rich breads that are 100% whole wheat. I don’t eat whole wheat it is not healthy for weight.

  • The only way to get 100% whole wheat is to pay $5 a loaf or make your own. I had to start baking my own because that $5 loaf was too expensive for me and I’ve cut out high fructose corn syrup, which is in most breads, because I’m a diabetic. I only eat bread about twice a week so I freeze my homemade bread and take out 2 slices when I want it. Of course you have to slice before you freeze. If you use dry yeast and tap hot water your yeast doesn’t need sugar.

  • Disappointing that you didn’t mention ancient grains, and organically grown grains. There are so many other options as well like buckwheat, rice, amaranth, quinoa, spelt, to mention a few.

  • You’re misinformed, humans are very efficient in lipogenesis, we just don’t rely on it for physical protection or heat insulation like for example pigs and penguins. respectively. We are constantly under lipogenesis, fat storing is an automatic process in humans, we have so many fat reserves that even the thinnest person can potentially survive for a few months without eating. Eating sporadically massive amounts of carbohydrates won’t make you fat but consuming more calories than your body requires in the form of carbohydrates will make your body gradually store that source of energy into fat. Eating a lot of bread will make you gain weight if you eat more than you need. I’m not a nutritionist but I’ve learned the metabolic processes of humans.

  • Cloud bread, I would just give bread up if that was all I could eat, lettuce raps are good, Farro, Quinoa, oats. sometimes eggs, milk and sugar. I add to my flour. I am not giving up bread, the flour I pay attention to also, white, whole wheat and rye flour. I also use but watch out for flour with bromate in it. the USA is one of the only countries still allowed to use it. you won’t find it in store bread but in the larger bags and bakeries. I make my own bread and do not generally add sugar. Flour, water yeast and salt and other grains. I do occasionally add Olive oil to my bread, usually the darker wheat. I also have a sour dough starter over 20 years old made from raisons that I keep replenished. Don’t forget Corn and rice tortillas. just corn and water. Making bread is fun and healthy and relaxing.

    Before we could store food throughout winter, the only thing constant people had to eat was MEAT.
    Vegetables and fruit are seasonal foods that will NOT last through winter outside of a freezer/refrigerator and we didn’t have those.
    Bread has been eaten so much for thousands of years, because the ingredients were relatively easily stored for use all year long.

    Eating bread these days is mostly something we do because we’re used to it.
    It seems to me that our bodies evolved for the most part to work on meat, since that is the only thing that has been available to humans/human ancestors from the very beginning of the species.

  • The molasses is good for your bones, protein, manganese, calcium potassium vitamin B6, and copper. I don’t feel like getting up right now, but if the oil is olive oil then it is a bonus. I am not putting down Ezekiel bread because I do eat it some times, but because it is frozen and refrigerated it has a tendency to spoil.

  • Dave’s killer bread is a great bread company, they have so many varieties with unprocessed and natural ingredients. Their bread makes my lunch and breakfast very filling.

  • You all should try bread with different kinds of seeds (sunflower etc.). What makes it different from white bread is the amount is fibres which is good for digestion. Come to Europe and try our whole wheat bread. We do not use (as much) sugar in our bread. Fresh whole wheat buns with a piece of (Gouda) cheese and cucumber is honestly the best thing. I couldn’t live without my bread.

  • I remember having a neighbor who came from Europe back in the seventies. She would bring home a suitcase of flours, dried meats and cheeses whenever she went back there to visit because she said that the food here was different. Her bread was always heavy in texture and very tasty. My family didn’t like it because it wasn’t light like Wonder Bread….but I loved it. It really tasted different from even homemade bread here in the states.

  • Sorry to say, but you don’t have any clue about whole wheat bread. To bake bread you don’t need any sugar, honey or corn syrup, what shown,,Baking bread the old fashion way includes, Wheat, salt and water….More important is to have certified organic flour….definitely whole wheat bread is healthier if produced the right way, and has no sugar…you can add other healthy ingredients, like walnuts, hazelnuts or chia seeds

  • When I first came to America I was really surprised that the bread stayed soft for so long after we buy it. Also, it was sort of fluffy. Our routine in Ireland is to go to the store early each morning to get the ‘Smokin Fresh”, still warm bread of your choice. This will be on the table for the family when they wake. Yesterday’s bread may be used to dunk in soup or feed the birds, whatever. It’s also much softer while remaining solid, compared to bread I bought in America which was still soft 1 week later, really it was. What is done differently to bring about such a huge difference?   • Industrial wheat became the standard around 1970. Ever since then bread has been worse, intolerable for some. Also they quit adding iodine and changed to bromine which also makes it worse.

  • that’s awesome. said some things that rang true for me. years ago, I was exercising plenty, but I love to eat! I was not good at portion control. personally, I had to start intermittent fasting. I’ve lost ten lbs in the first few weeks, but have hit a plateau. What I am doing now is going more paleo, modified paleo. I also need to have more discipline in staying the course on exercising, which I love to do, but work often gets in the way. I came across a fitness /diet routine that is one of the most popular in the country, at the moment

    , looks pretty good. Really it’s not rocket science, although we in the west make it hard. Eat whole foods in moderation, get enough rest, reduce stress, and exercise, not insanely, but regularly. Aerobics and some form of weight-bearing exercise seem to be the best combination.

I was surprised to learn a year ago, Dr. Zyrowski is correct, whole wheat bread nutritional value is essentially is same as bleached white bread. Bran flakes or shredded wheat with unsweetened almond milk have helped me limit my bread to one meal per day. Cereal is ok after 9am.

  • I bought a bag of English muffins from store. Left it on the top of fridge and forgot about it. 2 months later my brother came visit and found the English muffin. The muffin still has the same texture as it was fresh, no mold no wired smell.

  • The reason for the change was that Julian Bakery was sued for false advertising, and was under investigation by the FDA for making false claims about carb levels (and other things). So instead of making the nutrition label match the product, they changed the product to match the nutrition label…. with the resulting mess.

  • this is crazy how many people in the world making vids teaching that wheat bread is a killer for humans and causing all kinds of health problems. there are many countries especially the Islamic world with fewer health issues living only on wheat bread. my father is alive he has been eating bread for the last 1002 years now never had any problems. our entire countries here the middle east only eat bread but nothing else. I don’t believe what you just told us here! please go outside the box and see the world how they survive on bread and they don’t even know the disease that you named here.

  • In Dr etc. in bloodtype diet construction… FOR PERSONS WITH BLOODTYPE O……. it is advised to leave WHEATBASED flours and common other sources of carbs….. and rice isurely advosed… and 5 types of bread is VERY informative….. I AM ONLY MISSING DISCUSSION OR RYE BREAD 60% OR 100%.

    It takes 4to 6 ingredients when I check the ingredients on the bags
    OMG its surprising to see the amount of ingredients in one loaf of bread

    This what anyone must explain about the difference between nowadays bread and the past bread. same story with milk. they keep saying they are bad for heath in fact food industry and governments made it bad for health. our ancestry lived on both for thousands of years. don’t blame food blame industry, GMO which pushed by us government. for depo pulation purposes.

  • well ive got type 2 diabetes and its diet controlled,i just cant keep off bread ive tried but i have not touched white bread in years.but i do eat wholemeal bread at a reduced rate and ive managed to go from 220 pound to 170 due to my more healthy choice.

  • I’ve seen bread, buns lay in our back yard a entire day and the birds won’t eat it. Birds will eat about anything but they sure are slow on eating commercial breads. Something comes at night and eats it.

  • If you have not got time = (the least healthiest on the list) Whole wheat bread, sprouted grain, sourdough, oat bread, (the most healthiest on the list )flax bread. Tips: make sure that there is no vegetable oils, added sugar (look at the flour and research more about it to see if it’s the real deal

  • you should not eat any bread from companies, go to the bakery and buy bread there it is fresh and no additives. Then select full whole wheat, better Pumpernickel bread.
