So, breakfast is certainly an important meal but it does not need to be consumed as soon as you roll off the bed. Breaking your fast with sugary cereal and a muffin is certainly not healthy. You can break your fast at noontime with a healthy salad and a piece of salmon. Without “breaking the fast” in the morning, the metabolism will remain slow until the next meal is consumed.

This can be troublesome though, as the body is in a state that will want to store more of what is consumed then used for energy. Not to be confused with Breakfast, also with a meaning of “breaking of the fast.”. A break-fast in Judaism is the meal eaten after fast days meals such as Yom Kippur and Tisha B’Av. During a Jewish fast, no food or drink is consumed, including bread and water. The major fasts last over 25 hours, from before sundown on the previous night until after sundown on the day of the fast.

Break the Fast: Eat Breakfast. Your mom told you to eat breakfast – and she was right! Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Food is meant to give you nutrients and energy, and without eating, you have neither.

Think about it this way – you’ve been asleep for 7 or 8 hours and you haven’t had any food during this time. Explore Melissa Blanchard’s board “Break (the) Fast -breakfast” on Pinterest. See more ideas about Eat, Recipes, Cooking recipes.

Another menu must-have for our break-the-fast is salad made with barley, farro, buckwheat, quinoa or brown rice. These grains are all made more or less the same way: cook until tender and fluffy, add some cooked vegetables and flavor with vinaigrette dressing. It’s not insane. We fast every day. From night to morning, we go about 12 hours without a meal. Your first meal breaks this fast, which is why we call it “break-fast” instead of “morning-dinner.”.

Consider all or parts of this menu for your next breakfast meal: Whole wheat bread or homemade bagels with various spreads such as a classic tuna salad, egg salad, cheese, butter, and jam. All of the salads can be made a day in advance. Crustless cheese and vegetable quiche is a light and cheesy dish. In addition, we break the fast with “brinner”– breakfast-style foods mixed with various make-ahead salads and mezze. We choose recipes that are easy to prep ahead and throw together (important when you’re weak and light headed!).

These dishes. Eating within the first two hours of waking up breaks the fast that happens while sleeping and begins the flow of nutrients into muscle and brain cells for the day. A good breakfast is well-balanced Half the plate as vegetables or fruit with the remaining half made up of protein and whole grains.

  • Just found you 2.. & you’re great! Now I’m binge watching.
Already you’ve answered questions that were very confusing.1 in particular, was your testing effects of coffee sweeteners while intermediate fasting.
About 5 months back my daughter & son-in-law introduced my husband and I to the Keto lifestyle. We had been a little slack so all 4 of us dedicated to a week of eating completely Keto. 3 of us kept using one of the little sweeteners. Surprised & quite a bit bummed, we 3 had puzzling outcomes.
Thanks to my great video find, I’m pretty sure we have found the answer to our stall/& or weight gain.. YAY! & are now, this week, in the process of correcting the problem.
I wish I’d found your videos sooner. So we’re Johnny Come Lately’s.. but glad we’re here now! Thank u 4 new subscribers.

  • What are your thoughts of adding some healthy almond butter on top of the rice cake when breaking a fast? (With some seaweed on the side)

  • i break my fast at 10am with 2 eggs and a black coffee. At noon i have 4 oz of meat with 3 cups of spring mix salad with olive oil lemon juice dressing, top with some pecan and walnuts

  • I would not eat a lot of veggies and a salad and a whole potato post prolonged water fasting. Thats bad news. You should not eat broccoli post fast.

  • Can I eat cereal once in the morning everyday then fast instead of eating in the night? I’ve been having tea with no sugar and water

  • When can I have my second meal after breaking my fast without it effecting my first first fast meal??? Do I have to wait a certain amount of time?

  • Thank you so much for simplifying this!!!! I have watched several videos about breaking a fast and got double talk or mixed information!!

  • Is there a way to lower my daiky sugar intake? I’m 41 yrs old and I eat healthy for the most part, fruits and veg daily, plenty of water, no soda or juices, no pasta, rice, potato etc. I eat chicken, fish and occasionally red meat. I consume a lot of dairy. However I have a huge sweet tooth lol. Every day most likely after dinner I have something sweet. It’s mostly ice cream and if that’s not available I’ll have mixed nuts with raisins and pumpkin seeds with dark chocolate chips. I’ve noticed my skin is breaking out a little and im always bloated and not regular. I want to change this but it’s so hard when something sweet is always on the house. I live with my mom and she’s the same way with having sweets a lot. If I can shed some light that would be great. Thanks so much.

  • At what point should you follow this specific protocol instead of just jumping back into your regular diet? Because I fast everyday for 16-18hrs. I am sticking to healthy foods, but not this specific lean style. Should I be doing this everyday?

  • Is breaking a fast mean what you eat AFTER YOUR FAST? I thought it means BREAKING YOUR FAST, interrupting your fast hours…so confusing.

  • Can you break a fast with fruit? I often don’t eat anything in the morning and tend to have a fruit, am I ruining my 36hr fast? New to ADF

  • Thx for the tips. I’m not a strict vegan but try to eat mostly plants. I think I’m going to try a pho with kelp noodles & collagen. Kelp noodles are low carb so could be a good option regardless of what diet you are on. Could throw in a few pieces of shrimp if not vegetarian. Will also try the protein shake idea. I’ll use hemp rather than pea. I also saw your video about cinnamon so will start with a cinnamon ACV shot.

  • I was hoping he would use easy to use regular food, esp when you break a fast, not everyone is home making fish. Dude, simple options, where are u coming from?

  • Thomas, first of all, I wanna thank you very much for all you doing, I absolutely love your videos, but, all of these these options are really hard and complex to do for some of us. Can you please present us some more simple alternative options? Thanks in advance

  • I don’t get it. You always say not to mix fats and carbs when you brake your fast, and then you suggest, as first meal, broth and noodles. Could you explain that please?

  • Exactly what I needed to watch. I’m really struggling to give up bread. This is the one thing that’s hindering my weightloss journey. I’m pescetarian and sugar free. But bread is the devil!

  • I broke my fast with a large garden salad( olives, cucumber, tomato, avocado) and a store bought fat free salad dressing. I don’t eat red meat. I thought I was doing well. Suggestions.

  • What breakfast foods can you use to break the fast? Seaweed and rice cakes are not an option. Give me American whole natural food options.

  • Let me get this straight… bacon is a healthy fat, but extra virgin olive oil is unhealthy??? Okay… is this a parody account? Have you studied the science? I’m sorry, but I can’t take your info seriously.

  • When im not on keto, is it bad to break your fast with bonebroth and then eat a
Mixed meal (fat and carbs) later, as the bone broth dosnt spike my Insulin that much, so im still sensitive

  • Never understood why people feel being this ridiculously jacked up looks good. It doesn’t. This guy looks like a cartoon. There is a thing of being fit and another when you look like this. Or like The Rock who looks like a fucking freak.

  • I break with protein isolate at night time (isolate is broken down easier and resupplies the body with amino acids.)
    .
Then the morning after for breakfast I have watermelon. Helps reintroduce solid food back into my diet.
Then for lunch, I’ll have a salad with avacado (to get the fibre to help with digestion).
Then dinner just a simple fish fillet on rice. Light, simple and will restore carbohdrate stores.

  • The reasoning is vague. It would have been nice to have an explanation of why you should break your fast with vegetables in terms of nutritional benefit or metabolism.

  • I love this channel! <3 I started intermittent fasting about 3 weeks ago with little more knowledge than just the 16/8 window. With your videos and blogs I feel SO much better equipped to achieve my goals. I especially love all the science-backed info, thanks Autumn!!

  • Any recommendations on clean seaweed snacks? I shop at Walmart and the brand there is Ocean’s Halo Organic. It uses sunflower oil.

  • I am also diabetic 2 and I am on a Keto diet, no carbs. I have been doing this for 3 months eating as I said before once a day at 9 PM every day. What should I eat.

  • Dr. Keith, you mentioned still being insulin resistant.  How do you know that?  Are you doing regular exercise?  I started with 20 minutes of stationary bike and 60 minutes of moderate to heavy weights, every other day, and it did wonders for my A1C in a very short time, whereas losing weight by itself did not help in any noticeable way.  I’m thinking that getting muscle glycogen moving out of the muscles and back in, on a regular basis, is what allows insulin to do what it is supposed to do to keep blood sugar reasonable, and keeps insulin from being high 24/7.  Plus, on a Keto diet, if your muscles are always depleted of glycogen, I’m not sure how Ketones come into play there, but maybe you are never allowing the little insulin you have, to do any real work.  For this reason and others, some people cycle off Keto on a regular basis.  If you are saying you are insulin resistant because your waking blood sugar is above 100, I don’t believe that that indicates insulin resistance by itself, because A1C may indicate the opposite and is a much better overall indicator of average blood sugar levels.  I’ve seen a few videos citing studies that show that a high fat diet makes insulin resistance worse, but it seems that could be a result of simply not ever challenging the body to deal with metabolizing sugar, and not solely a result of consumed fat blocking that metabolic process.

  • How about adding uncooked oatmeal to your smoothie? I use 1 cup of almond milk, 1 cup yes raw kale, I will steam it from now on, 4 or 5 strawberries, 1 scoop of a protein powder and 1/2 a cup of oats 1 cup of plain non Greek yogurt. And I usually put a banana on it but forgot that this morning. So is that too much?

  • Q: I did a 24hr fast then drank 4-6 oz of organic chicken broth went to bed 2hrs later and it’s now 17hrs later and I still haven’t eaten. Not sure what to eat to break this fast?

  • I don’t get it. You always say not to mix fats and carbs when you brake your fast, and then you suggest, as first meal, broth and noodles. Could you explain that please?

  • I’m on a 17/7 fasting schedule for the most part. Sometimes it’s 18/6 and sometimes it’s 16/8. I always break my fast with plain oats berries and egg whites. My meal was not featured here but I think it should be ok because it sounds like the first email after a fast is low carb fat and high protein. Any thoughts on how I can improve it? I don’t want to get rid of my oats. I love them

  • I was looking particularly weird in the salad dressing aisle of the supermarket recently. Have to take off my glasses to read nutrition labels and was reading many. Seems avoiding vegie oils may be tricky in .

  • I just feel this is “intermittent fasting” is much ado about nothing. We did it back in the day anytime we wanted to lose weight and it was just ‍♀️

  • Im so confused about fruit. I have read that you should only eat it alone in order to digest it the best and prevent gut rot but have also read that if you dont eat it with a protein than your body digests it too quickly and causes extreme spikes and dips in blood glucose levels and subsequently energy.

  • would a simple pb & banana (whole grain) toast be too loaded with carbs as my fast breaker? it’s been something i’ve been eating regularly everyday and i feel good about it, but i didn’t know this could potentially throw off fat-burning and spike insulin:(

  • i break my fast at 10am with 2 eggs and a black coffee. At noon i have 4 oz of meat with 3 cups of spring mix salad with olive oil lemon juice dressing, top with some pecan and walnuts

Hey guys It’s Thomas DeLauer! I’ve been catching a lot of flack lately from people wondering why I am big on high glycemic carbohydrates when it comes down to breaking a fast. Well, I thought that merited an explanation, so watch my video to see why.

Any trolls, inappropriate comments, or spam will be removed from the comments and banned from SixPackAbs.com. We strive for a great troll-free community here, and we’d love to have you as a part of it.

  • I did 3days IF and lost 1.5kg.. but when im back just eating 5spoonfull of white rice for lunch and dinner.. i gain back all of it instantly.. i mean instally.. few hours after eating rice.. why??

  • Hi I live in the tropics, Sri Lanka to be precise. So we have abundant access to king coconut. Is it ok to break an intermittent fast with king coconut water cos it’s got tons of electrolytes. Thanks

  • That’s exactly how I eat my cantaloupe! I love it with cottage cheese, almonds, cinnamon, and honey. I thought I was the only one.

  • Thank you so much for simplifying this!!!! I have watched several videos about breaking a fast and got double talk or mixed information!!

  • Well that sucks. I just started alternate day fasting 4 days ago.. i read that watermelon is good to break the fast. This morning I realized I don’t have any, but I do have other fruits. So to make sure I googled if I can eat fruits, it said yes and especially blueberries which I had a lot of… and strawberries and pineapple. While eating my bowl of fruits I said let me watch some YouTube and see what they say… while eating my fruits she says do not eat fruits lol.. while I was already eating ‍♂️

  • Thomas/Guys, I usually break my fast with two whole eggs (omlette cooked in little butter with a bit of salt) followed by a glass of whole milk. Is this good or bad?

  • Would really appreciate your adviceis slice of ezekiel bread with 1 tbsp freshly ground almond butter sprinkled with flax seeds a good option to break a fast? I am doing 16/8 and aiming less than 50 net carbs throughout my day. Just a bit confused-there are many different advices on the Internet on breaking the fast. Thank you!

  • So, would no butter no oil air popped popcorn be sufficient? I’m a little confused on the carb first meal breaker and what to eat along with it…and then what to eat after it, like an hour later. High fat, or vegi or fruit juice?
Breaking a 5 day water fast tomorrow.

  • Hi Autumn, I break fast at 11AM and it is usually right after my workout. I have been breaking fast with a small protein shake (sugar free) but I am wondering if this is a bad idea. Would it be better to skip the protein shake and first eat a veggie packed meal? When would be a good time to have a protein shake? Or maybe it’s not even necessary? Thanks!

  • Okay so I’m trying out IF but am curious as to what I should do if I want to start doing cardio in the morning and strength training in the evenings. Do I still keep the fast in the morning like I planned or do I eat a post workout meal after my moribund cardio? Thanks in advance!

  • Could someone tell me what food she is mentioning in clip 1:04? I’ve listened to it many times, it sounds like baked ham, but I know its not. If anyone knows what food she is mentions after spinach, I would appreciate it.

  • ❤️ I love fruit, i eat pancakes every morning, but they have 1/2 banana, 12 g of outmeal, 30 g of greek yogurt, 1 kiwi and 1 egg…. But now i dont know if this is ok to start my morning after intermittent fasting…. Is this to much fruit?

  • I cannot give up my coffee with 1 tbl sugar and Coffee Mate. It ‘s a “given” in my day. Everything else is OK. I enjoy your channel. Jam-packed with info.

  • You are so radiant! I love your videos! That cantaloupe meal is a must-try for me! One thing I do for my açaí bowls is I freeze coconut water in my ice-tray and use that in lieu of regular ice-cubes. Super yummy!

  • I have my bullet proof coffee 1/2 caff. in the morning around 5:45 6:00 am then eat a big salad mixed greens, not romaine or ice berg get the dark mix with spinach and arugula with all of the goody fat at lunch then in the evening we try to eat before 7 pm a little protein and the 3 cups of cooked veggies. My husband and I have lost 8 pounds each in a month.

  • When im not on keto, is it bad to break your fast with bonebroth and then eat a
Mixed meal (fat and carbs) later, as the bone broth dosnt spike my Insulin that much, so im still sensitive

  • I amd doing 16/8 fasting, last meal (dinner) at 5:30pm and then first meal is breakfast at 9:30am. So you are saying I should not eat any carbohydrates? No oatmeal or healthy bread? Can I eat them later during the day? Thank you for the reply

  • 1. Not to replace a breakfast with Keto coffee. Meal is a must.
    2. Not to wait until you starving.
    3. Not to break fast with sugary/starchy food.
    4. Not to add granola to your braking fast smoothie.
    5. Not to use oat milk as a base for your braking fast smoothie.

  • If you eat a small amount of fruit combined with the vegetables, should be fine. Just eat a small volume of everything, especially if the fasting period is atleast 5 7 days.

Also I recommend the zero fasting app, it’s free and has a wealth of information!

  • Looks delicious! Have you ever tried smoked tempeh in your salad? It’s very bacon-like. I am pescatarian, so it’s a great substitute. I also use Bragg’s regular dressing and mix homemade mayo in it to make it a creamy dressing. Had it last night with salmon caesar salad.

  • If been fasting now for 4 weeks. I’m down 4lb
    I normally do 16 to 18 hrs.
I break my fast with original oatmeal with apple slices. One hard boiled egg white. And a peace of flax seed toast with peanut butter. Makes me feel great. Anyways thanks for the video. Your the best

  • Could you do a fast break vegan options video? I’m thinking I could do a protein drink w some hemp seeds or coconut oil, but I’d love to hear your thoughts regarding the science.

  • I was hoping he would use easy to use regular food, esp when you break a fast, not everyone is home making fish. Dude, simple options, where are u coming from?

  • Hey question I got a smoothie with pineapple, strawberry, blueberry berry banana…. I forget the other berry but I also use pineapple juice for the base is that too sweet?????

  • Just began my journey and I’m loving it. So glad to have found this guy. My trainer has me breaking fast with an avocado with olive oil! Doesn’t sound like I should be having that. I’m over 50.

  • I stop eating between 6-7pm every night. I wake up between 5-7am every morning (2 kiddos lol).
I will have a cup of coffee in the AM. Generally, my cup of coffee is 10-12oz and I’ll add liquid stevia and 3TBS of caramel premier protein.
I break my fast, everyday, around 11- 12:30.
I try and break my fast with lots of protein, veggies and powerful carbsi.e. quinoa.
Then, if I’m still somewhat hungry, I’ll grab an apple. I have a MASSIVE sweet tooth. I’ll either grab a little sweet treat after I’ve broken my fast, around 1:30/2pm.
If I’m still insanely hungry, I’ll grab a orgain clean protein ready made shake. Gives me a chocolately taste, without all of the garbage that’s in chocolate milk.
I also drink a lot of water!! I try and fill my 32oz yeti at least 2x a day. After having kiddos, my bladder is shot and I constantly have to use the restroom. If I drink more than 64oz, it becomes unbearable with how much I go to the bathroom. Super annoying!!
I’d would love to see the scale shift more. I’m 32, 65 inches tall and 145lbs. I never workout. I’m a stay-at-home/homeschooling momma and I’m insanely busy. Sometimes I try and get in one of the quick HIIT workouts that I’ve found here on YouTube but that’s maybe 2x a week.

  • I’ve been breaking my fast with a cup of cheerios every morning (practically every morning), is this a good option? it’s been working so far, I’ve been losing some weight.

  • Watching this video in 2020. Thanks for the info. In my experience, I’ve tried different ways of breaking my 48 hours of fasting. I’ve discovered that any form of carbs (salads, nuts) increases my hunger which makes me eat more after breaking my fast. The only way my body handles the breaking of a fast without overeating while keeping me satiated is by eating a steak with eggs (fried or boiled) and fish or fatty ham. My form of diet is Carnivore because my body handles it better than regular LCHF Keto.

  • Hii
I m suffering from hyperthyroidism I have to eat medican empty stomach… so when I have my medican during fasting or when I will break my fasting

  • A cheeseburger, fries, and shake.
Fried fish with mash potatoes and gravy
25 chicken wings with ranch dressing
A pork chop sandwich with Mac and cheese
5 pancakes, 4 strips of bacon, cheese eggs, and coffee

  • Veggies is not true. They bloat u and don’t work well with everything that’s going on in ur body during your fast. Drink bone broth and DONT have veggies until about two hours after breaking your fast. Also, this video should be taken down, really bad advice.

  • Just broke a 4 day water fast 2 days ago. Drank a cup of bone broth and ate boiled eggs an hour later. However, I think I made a mistake of eating boiled potatoes the day after I broke my fast. I’ve heard that consuming carbs 1-2 days after a fast can spike up your insulin and make you gain double the weight that you lost. Also, when is the right time to consume more solid food like bread and fried chicken after the fast?

  • You NEVER answered the question YOU posed. I see No proof of what your:
    1. credentials are, & 2. talking about
So WHY would I buy your bundle product?

  • The way how I break my fast is by eating fruits I usually go for watermelon but anything works then through the day I just stay on my salad that’s it lol

  • After breaking the fast with a meal with minimal carb, how long should I wait till I can eat carb again? Everyone advise to avoid carb when breaking a fast but I don’t think anyone has mentioned this detail. I normally wait for 2 hour (since I’m hungry) but I’m not sure if it’s long enough…

  • I’ve lost 30 pounds since mid July, I’ve plateaued over the last couple of months, want to lose 10 more pounds, I’ve stayed away for the most part from bread, potatoes, sugar, although sometimes have rice in a burrito bowl I know it’s not good for you but it helps me become more full. Any tips to lose these next 10 pounds?

  • I think this borders on an eating disorder sorry to say, the advice and her eating style is very very limiting and unnecessary for good health

  • Hi Autumn. Perhaps answering the question with a few specific examples would be great. I think many people aren’t going to be eating seed smoothies and would like to know if an apple is ok? Or an apple + peanut butter? Or oatmeal? Or 1 egg and one whole wheat toast? Some real food examples or # of carbs that is too high (11 is ok, 50 is not, what about 20?) would be appreciated. THANKS.

Don’t eat more than 15-20 grams of carbs to break your fast, and its better if your having fats protein and fiber to balance.

A single piece of whole fruit is pretty balanced, especially things like pears and apples

  • I just feel this is “intermittent fasting” is much ado about nothing. We did it back in the day anytime we wanted to lose weight and it was just ‍♀️

  • I have completed 3 days of the 7 day water fasting and now today is the 4th day i am so anxious to eat but i know that i have to ease back into eating so i am watching videos on what to eat is eating Apple Sauce Ok?

  • Is 1 cup of plain nonfat greek yogurt, a couple blueberries, and cinnamon a good way to break the fast?
The yogurt has 17gr of protein per 2/3 cups and 7gr of sugar.
Is this a bad idea. This is my first day and I’m a little confused on how to best start this

  • I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for two weeks and lost 4 kilos within 1 week! But after the first week I stopped losing weight.
Fasting is a challenge for me: I am hungry after about 8 hours of eating a filling meal, and I stay hungry (I mean tummy rumbling hunger). Is anyone else the same?
I’m shifting between fasting 20:4 weekdays, 16:8 weekends. When I break my fast I try to do so with a meal of mainly protein (eggs, maybe some salmon or ham). On average I eat about 900 calories per day (never more than 1200, sometimes as little as 600).

  • I do heavy weightlifting while fasted and I always break my fast with a protein shake that is pretty loaded with carbs and sugars. My goal is to lose fat and gain muscle. Should I stop breaking fast with that particular shake?

  • I literally drank a glass of orange juice when I broke my fast 2:30hours back and then an hour back I ate a plate of fruits… And then I watched this video.
Oh god I feel grumbling in my stomach rn

  • Awesome video! Just found your channel. I was never a fan of the keto diet, however I used IF to lose 160 lbs and transform my life. I still fast today even though I’m more focused on muscle building. Love the information. Subbed

  • This makes total senseWhen I have your blueberry smoothieI’m full for up to 5 hourswhen I have an açaí bowlI’m hungry within 2 hours. Thanks for “nerding out” and explaining the difference!

  • I always look forward to your new videos each week. One a side note, I took a tip from one of your clips about eating eggs and avocados for breakfast with some walnuts, it has been such a game changer and a great way to break my fast. Thank you.

  • Thank you for sharing all these information. However, I was expecting that you will tell the food that need to eat when breaking the fast though you explicitly demonstrated and informed us but then, the terminology is super scientific and difficult to understand in layman language. Can you please be specific the foods need to avoid when breaking fast? Yes, you said no carbs when breaking fast. So, is it okay to eat, boiled egg whites, bananas and other fruits when breaking fast? Your knowledge and wisdom is highly appreciated. Thank you so much and looking forward to your response.

  • Autumn, how long after breaking fast should I wait to eat any sugars/carbs [reasonably of course]. Is it inadvisable to have potatoes with first meal, for instance? Thank you for great info!

  • Interesting that you mention it’s not feeling lethargic, it feels as if time slows down and you notice more. This is exactly the case for me, after 2-3 days my reflexes actually feel super human, something slips and I’m able to instantly grab it where as normally 5g carbs or less per day it’d hit the floor.

Another interesting note, maybe related to this, or maybe just because of the incredible focus, is that when I play competitive games, I notice my scores and ranks go up when I fast,

  • The answer is a bowl of salad with nuts, avocado, boiled eggs, feta cheese, healthy bacon, and full fat dressing. Everything you see in the picture.

  • That’s the lunch we settled on, so I’m glad to know we’re on the right track. I just make my own dressing, though, as reading the labels is always shocking. We also add a small serving of meat or fish.

  • I just found you two and couldn’t be more happy. I am using Keto to shed not just weight but unhealthy toxins and sugar addiction! I am just getting good levels of energy and your 0,1,2,3 is awesome! And so common sense. And your videos are perfectly real life and science based! Your salad ideas are wicked on-point. I’m gonna binge all your videos! Thanks so much for the knowledge and inspiration.

  • That’s my lunch every day!! Salad, avacado, nut’s, cheese. toasted sesame oil. Chicken or tuna or organic peanut butter on celery. I do an 18/6 most of the time and OMAD a few day’s a week. Feel so much better. Thank’s for all the help/info. God bless

  • I am vegan and want to start the intermittent fasting. I make the most wonderful salads with nuts and avocado and mixed greens and cucumbers and all fresh organic ingredients.

  • I cant eat eggs to break the fast? Its getting really confusing, everything has fat even the carbs have fat in it what do we eat??

  • You NEVER answered the question YOU posed. I see No proof of what your:
    1. credentials are, & 2. talking about
So WHY would I buy your bundle product?

  • I was looking particularly weird in the salad dressing aisle of the supermarket recently. Have to take off my glasses to read nutrition labels and was reading many. Seems avoiding vegie oils may be tricky in .

  • Thank you for all your wonderful advice! My husband and I are learning so much from your series. Is it possible to use full-fat coconut milk in my coffee without breaking my fast?

  • Thomas/Guys, I usually break my fast with two whole eggs (omlette cooked in little butter with a bit of salt) followed by a glass of whole milk. Is this good or bad?

  • I’m 24 years old with a rare autoimmune disease (neuro-behcets if you’re curious). I had a stroke. At 24 damn years old. On May 17th. Lost the movement in my left leg & foot, hearing in my right ear, etc. I’m MUCH better now. I started intermittent fasting because of you, cut out dairy, & completely gutted the sugary drinks. I’ve worked out & walked damn near everyday since & lost 8 pounds in a week. So thank you Caitlyn!

  • I find it very interesting that Keith is still insulin resistant. While the weight loss is great, it does point to the damage we have done to our bodies first getting overweight and building up towards diabetes.

I really hope this channel stays with us a few more years with more periodic discussions of insulin resistance so we can see if his resistance improves over time, (unlikely, I hope) continues to get worse.

Question: Have you taken a heart calcium test? If so, please discuss.

  • I think this borders on an eating disorder sorry to say, the advice and her eating style is very very limiting and unnecessary for good health

  • I’m gonna start on Sunday and finish on Saturday… I’m ready.. I’ll drink water on those days and once I’m finished I’ll eat blueberries and cut apples. And a salad

  • Is it okay if I have chia seed pudding, half a banana, and peanut butter to break my fast? Or should I just not have the half banana?

  • Not too long since I have discovered you guys and I have to say I am more than impressed by what I see. I do have a question though and it’s about ones personal taste!! I get your 0,1,2,3 concept I would love to to able to commit myself but I cannot abide the taste and flavours of salad, no matter what dressing I put on it. Is it possible to substitute the salad with something else like plain old vegetables???

  • Would really appreciate your adviceis slice of ezekiel bread with 1 tbsp freshly ground almond butter sprinkled with flax seeds a good option to break a fast? I am doing 16/8 and aiming less than 50 net carbs throughout my day. Just a bit confused-there are many different advices on the Internet on breaking the fast. Thank you!

  • Hii
I m suffering from hyperthyroidism I have to eat medican empty stomach… so when I have my medican during fasting or when I will break my fasting

  • Looks very much like the meal I eat to break my fast. Large salad with veggies with moderate protein and healthy fats. My dressing is organic apple cider and a healthy oil.

  • A veggie smoothie is the best way because you get the nutrients, minerals and vitamins but not something that will overwhelm your stomach, which has significantly been redued. Also, don’t eat too much at first….work your way up until you feel you feel your ready to eat a little more. Listen to your body!!!

  • I can’t tell from the video, but do your salad greens also include things like bell pepper, cucumber and mushrooms etc?
I’m laughing a little because I’m enjoying a HUGE salad right now, exactly the same size bowl as yours. And I topped with with hard boiled egg, avocado, bacon, pumpkin seeds… but also romaine, cilantro, bell pepper, cucumber, mushrooms.. and I jumped up and grabbed the feta as soon as I saw it on your counter, lol. I make my own Dijon vinaigrettedelicious!! My whole family loves it

  • Hi Drs Becky & Keith, I’m doing the 21 day challenge and I’m confused about if I’m intermittent fasting whether I should skip my breakfast meal, or try to fit all 3 meals into 8 hours.

  • You both are adorable together!
I like the vibe on you both sitting down at your table together, verses standing up. It gives a warmer “feel” to it all.

I wanted to know if you’ve tried some of the low carb “pasta’s” they have lentil, chick-pea & probably other’s? I have used “Tinkyada pasta joy” Organic brown rice pasta. I figured it was better than eating white flour or even whole wheat, but now I realize that it still just way too many carb’s…BUT, I NEED sooner kind of pasta. Someone told me the lentil one was real good. Could you look into that & review?

  • A little offended by your “Pho” recipe. “Throw some lean protein in with some beef broth and rice noodles”. Also, please learn to use chopsticks lol.

  • I have a question about Intermittent Fasting. Would Bulletproof coffee be considered “breaking a fast”, or does IF actually mean the first time you consume solid food? I eat dinner at 5:30PM and do not consume solid food again until 10:30 12PM the next day. However, I do have a cup of Bulletproof coffee when I wake up, somewhere between 4AM and 7AM, depending on the day. AM I doing this wrong?

  • Exactly what I needed to watch. I’m really struggling to give up bread. This is the one thing that’s hindering my weightloss journey. I’m pescetarian and sugar free. But bread is the devil!

  • Fasting, breaking the fast…. scientific research and a biology lesson takes the fun out of weight loss…… Keep it simple and listen to your own body, stressing out over spiking insulin and fasting autophagy and being an advert for foods your getting paid to advertise……all things in moderation and some exercise and movement is the best way to get the results you want whatever you want……… listening to a walking dictionary is only gonna confuse and stress you,……I lost 6 stone by a little exercise and quantity control and ate sensibly, 53 yrs old and feeling great

  • Good info… wish you could just talk for mor than one sentence at a time before clipping.. it seriously takes away from personality. Just prepare what you have to say and say it. I am sorry to sound negative but it makes it almost impossible for my to watch a full video.. thank you for understanding

  • I break my fast everyday at 12 and I usually have 3 Scrambled eggs with cayenne pepper and one avocado is that good I’m now to this

  • i have neurological issues and I read that fasting help with getting a clear mind, so i eat my first meal around lunch time and my second meal at dinner time. my eating window is 6hour which gives me the whole morning to be productive. for the full benefit of fasting it’e important to eat healthy and low carb, a little more healthy fasts so keto is perfect but low carb is fine too. i get my carbs from fruit and sometimes potatoes and pumpkin. I have rice once a week too so keto is not for me but low carb is fine too. it takes one or two weeks to notice how clear my mind got and I love it. i have more energy too so I’ll be doing this forever. i only have breakfast in the holidays when there are traditional foods. life needs to be fun too.

  • Is this fine?
