  • I made this recipe and I find they are good tasting but are missing a little something to be really delicious and decadent. My girlfriend had the same feeling while tasting them. They are like good but are missing something to be orgasmic like most brownies. I added some sugar free chocolate syrup and some coconut flour because at first it was too liquid. So I am asking myself what could I had to this recipe without adding too much calories or sugars that would make them more on the fudge tasting side like those decadent brownies.

  • I made this today and it was super yummy! you can’t even tell it has beans in it! it was pretty filling and guilt free haha. My family loved it and so did I will be making this again! thanks for sharing!

  • I cam across your videos and subscribed. thought i give this recipe a try and lets just say…..this is the only I will do them from now on. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!!!

  • I mad these and I couldn’t believe how nice they were. I gave them to my godchildren (3 an 5 years) and I they didn’t even know the difference. I used Apple puree, I’m not sure if the apple sauce you use contins any thickeners or stabilisers. Thanks!

  • I told my sister black bean brownies are a thing and she said “I know they’re a thing and it’s disgusting. It’s called acting” lol she’s 11 but I still feel bad that people miss out on stuff because they assume.

  • for some reason everytime i cook with protein powder it comes dry. even in this recipe although it much better and i could eat it.
what whey protein you use guys. i’m using iso100

  • If i want to make it for 2-3 person, can i use half cup of black beans or every ingredient would change in their amount? Plz Can u tell me what amount i have to put in

  • My 7 year old was watching it with me and when you got to the end of the video and said give me two thumbs up etc…. He held both thumbs up and said “I love the protein chef, he gives me good bad stuff that I am not allowed to eat” LOL… REALLY! It was hilarious!… I really do make a lot of your recipes and the kiddos I guess have noticed.

  • Ok I have a large family that doesn’t particularly like anything healthy if it’s a substitute dish like this. They made fun of my sister for being vegetarian. I am planning on making them these brownies after insane Steve’s reaction to them. I’m doing this.

  • The moment you put oil in, you turned it into a killer recipe. Please look at what oil does to the body, when heated. DR. Greger has a video on oil.

  • I added more splenda and tsp of instant coffee which enhances chocolate flavor. Topped with chocolate chips and pecans. So filling and none of the guilt.

  • Hey I got a question, is it possible to make this recipe without coconut oil.  Also baking cocoa is cocoa powder? also if i use cocoa powder, do i need to use baking soda as it is not ”baking cocoa” kinda confused.  Thanks.

  • I made these last night. Although I had to make some modifications because I couldn’t find some ingredients here (I used dessicated coconut instead of coconut oil, no vanilla extract, different sweetener) they turned out really well and taste great! Thanks for this recipe, it’s the first time I’ve attempted to make something like this. I’ll be sure to try more of your recipes in future! Subbed.

  • I would say 20-30g a day of saturated fat would be good for you. Definitely don’t stray from it…they are very important (especially for your hormones!).

  • Derek, I made another You Tube recipe recently that was terrible.  Your recipe is FANTASTIC! I gave them all away to my clients this morning after a hard workout and they were all gobbled up.  Thumbs up!
Also I noticed you used real peanut butter in your frozen cups.  Have you thought of using PB2 powdered peanut butter as it has hardly any fat. What do you think of it as a cooking product?

  • Pretty good stuff! I originally saw the black bean recipe a few years ago, I think from Yoyomax on youtube. This really take it forward with the protein…not to mention the iron from the beans AND fiber. Peanut butter is a great idea, and this is what I am going to to this evening and I made my own multi-nut butter in my Ninja…… so here..we..go.!

  • Hi Dani, I’d love to make these and more coconut flour recipes but because of the abortive properties of coconut flour and a lot of recipes needing eggs i have to bypass them. flax eggs don’t work due to high volumes of eggs used and I’m unable to eat dairy, eggs, gluten, oats and only low sugar. My experiments so far have now worked. Any tips would be brilliant. Thank you

  • Hi Derek! Love your videos!
I’ve noticed you are using cocoa powder in several recipes.
I’m making your recipes everyday, and i also love cocoa.
So it comes to about 2-4 tablespoons of cocoa everyday.
Is it ok to use that much cocoa on everyday basis long term?
(I also look for the healthiest cocoa when buying it)

  • Made some over the weekend, absolutely love them. I think these will become a staple of mine, have to find a way to add more fiber to my diet. Gonna make more tonight, thanks and keep on making these vids brah! Reps 4 life

  • Amazing, you guys have to try these.my every mug cake ends up hardening no matter how rich the recipie is,but this turned out more than my expectations and gave me success

  • Absolutely. I can’t give you exact amount since I haven’t done it myself but I don’t see a problem with it working! Let me know how much you use!

  • You are convincing me that I could possibly lose weight successfully! I thank you repeatedly your recipes that I’ve looked at your mouth watery interesting and not dull and boring

  • Tried this today I’ve also tried variations on your tuna cakes, pancakes, pumpkin pie and cheese cake. Yes its “diet food” but its the best diet food I’ve had, your really helping me get through my cut. Appreciate all the great content!

  • I have made multiple of your recipes and all of them turned out great including this one. Thank you so much for sharing such delicious recipes.

  • OMG these look SO good… I’m totally making these this week. I bet these would be great with hazelnuts instead of walnuts (we aren’t walnut fans in our house lol).

  • I will try this soon. u should try the microwave egg cake. just egg coco powder and sugar. I don’t cook it all the way, ya it’s raw egg. but so good and 100 cals. sometimes a little frozen whip cream good as well

  • These bad boys are soooooooo good i make a batch every week and I think they come out better every time I make them!
    Thank You so much!!! ^.^

  • Hi Zach! Yes, you could sub it for those. I should note that although coconut oil is high in saturated fat, it’s extremely healthy (in moderation) so don’t shy away from it just because of the saturated fat content unless of course you’re getting your saturated fats elsewhere and this would put you over your daily limit.

  • I just made these and my pan was much bigger, so they came out like a sheet cake. Very good flavor. I can taste the ‘artificial sweetener’ taste a tiny bit. I really like these. The texture is great and the flavor is amazing. I am used to drinking protein shakes and using splenda and artificial sweeteners, so these taste fantastic to me. Great job on this recipenever would have thought black beans could make such a great dessert!

  • I haven’t made it without coconut oil so it’s hard for me to comment however if I were to substitute I would use regular butter over olive or grapeseed oil. You could also try throwing in more unsweetened apple sauce and not using any coconut oil at all.

  • My first attempt at these last night go ok reviews from the family. I personally was not crazy of the stevia after taste. So tonight I tried again using honey as my sweetener and these were really enjoyed by the family. Thanks dude! Next up are those peanutbutter cups:)

  • Is there a substitute for coconut oil? All I have in the house is grapeseed oil and olive oil.

Thanks for the vids, this looks delicious!

  • Thank you! I guess it would depend on your goals. Gaining? Eat the whole batch! Haha. However for the average person 2 would be ideal (usually what I eat).

  • My mom is from Guatemala and they grab black beans and put sugar in them and they use that as a stuffing inside of desserts so it doesn’t surprise me that a brownie
Would be made of black beans when I didn’t know they were made of black beans I really thought it was chocolate

  • I tried making black bean brownies but they weren’t great…however they weren’t terrible, but damn they were filling! I had a tiny piece and then I got a stomach ache because I was too full.

  • You should name these Mexican Chocolate bean brownies. With the cayenne that’s what they taste like. Made these for a friend and they where a hit I used pistachios instead of walnuts. Great recipe

  • Sooooooo…….. I changed the game up a little. I was ready to make this, and seen I ran out of Milk. So I used vanilla coffee creamer instead… SO GOOD … don’t judge me, join me ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️

  • I made my sisters guess the secret ingredient and they didn’t find outI swear, this DOES NOT taste like beans, it tastes good!

  • Great! I’ve been looking for this recipe for a very long time! But I had a question..
What’s gonna happen if we skip baking soda and baking powder? Another question,..
Why use BOTH baking soda and baking powder?

  • Kevin, I’ve tricked so many people into thinking these are regular brownies. some of them say they’re the best they’ve had. great recipe!

  • Yep, I tried to fool my kids with beans once. Then I regret I told them because they don’t eat brownies anymore if it’s not from the box. lol

  • Wow you a really pretty. First time watching your videos. But when u came out with no make up. Wow. You skin is great. I’m watching a bunch of your videos. They so fun.

  • Made these today for Easter and they are money in the bank! I expected them to be good but they were INCREDIBLE! I used oat flour for mine which still worked just fine. Thanks for this recipe!

  • Omg thank u!! I just did it! I changed the oats for gluten free powder, bc i didnt have oats and it turned out so good!! My mom loved it!!♥️

  • Hey guys, welcome to my channel! Ingredients are available in the description box and many more recipes are also available on my channel. Have fun and see you in the next video! ✨

  • I just made this. I tried a couple of other healthy black bean recipes but this one definitely the BEAT! It’s rich, moist and decadent! Couldn’t taste the black beans at all.

  • Found your You Tube Channel, Just subscribed. Made these brownies from the box and added some chocolate chips, chopped walnuts a teaspoon of Cocoa and a teaspoon of coffee grinds to give it a richer brownie flavor. OMG! these are the best freakin brownies I ever tasted! Who knew that black beans could make brownies taste so rich and fudgey! Thanks for posting this video. It’s because of you that I tried makin my brownies this way.

  • Was looking for some inspiration for creating an adzuki bean chocolate brownie recipe. Thought to drop some tid bits for some of the questions/feedback I saw from people posting here: artificial sweeteners may not pose a high caloric intake but they are well documented as forming into neuro-toxins that penetrate the blood brain barrier as they break down, and are HUGE contributors to neurological/brain diseases among other things, such as tricking your hormones (insulin etc.) and throwing your body quite out of balance. All artificial sweeteners carry harmful side effects. An article for further reading if interested, just to scratch the surface:
    http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/10/13/artificial-sweeteners-more-dangerous-than-you-ever-imagined.aspx
You are better off learning to adjust to smaller doses of sweetening agents and when you use them, choose as natural and less refined as possible, still containing vital minerals: Coconut Palm Sugar, Maple Syrup, Honey.
And I would just further like to set the seed/inspire folks to switch basic ingredients in recipes to their more natural (and ideally Organic versions), such as true Cacao powder (from raw & fermented cacao beans) which is actually a healthful powerful antioxidant, whereas mass-production facilities like Hershie and others, simply do not care about the quality of their product and I have 2nd hand account of the states of their factories with rats shitting into the production machines as they eat what they can and whole packaging being thrown in with cacao and all… it`s kinda sick actually. Also, conventionally grown (non-Organic) Cacao beans, are allegedly one of the most heavy pesticide sprayed crops! Much like their popular brothers the Coffee bean!
Anyway just sharing these bits so people may be inspired to REALLY create “guilt-free” desserts with wholesome ingredients. And remember a calorie in is NOT a calorie out, this is old science!

  • You look different in this video compared to your latest ones… Am I right to suggest you’ve since bulked up? Although, you do look bigger in this video

  • Just tried the recipe and going to try to fool my husband later. It’s really good but there is a bean taste to it. Like red bean desserts. I like it but I don’t think I would be able to fool my husband. Or if my non Asian coworkers will be fooled.

  • I’m sorry, but these are NOT heart healthy. You’re using eggs. That’s basically like smoking cigarettes in terms of how it affects the arteries. Eating an egg affects the arteries the same way as smoking cigarettes does. They contribute to heart disease. SO NOT heart healthy in the slightest.

  • Tried this tonight and it tasted great!:p I didn’t have eggs so I used 200g of egg whites instead and double the amount of apple sauce. They were really soft and tasty, thanks a lot!

  • Looks great! I really prefer video recipes that include measurements. I could just google recipeswithout measurements we watch the video AND still have to look it up.

  • I made these brownies last. Night, as I had all the ingredients on hand and I love that they are naturally egg free, as my daughter is allergic to eggs. We all loved them so much and I will definitely make these again!

  • I made it, and it is De-Lish!!! My husband doesn’t even know there are beans in it, he can’t tell!! AND I’m not telling ❤️thanks!!

  • What It Means to Bloom Cocoa Powder-I USE DOUBLE STRENGTH COFFEE!!
When cocoa powder is “bloomed” it’s mixed with a hot liquid, stirred well to break up any lumps, and then left to sit for a minute or two. The cocoa powder dissolves, which thickens the liquid and releases flavor particles within the powder. This technique brings out the best in cocoa powder and unleashes its ultra-chocolatey potential.

  • Dani, I made these brownies last weekend for my family and they are absolutely FABULOUS!! But instead of using water in the Vitamix with the black beans I added cold coffee which really boosted the chocolate flavor! Thanks for a terrific recipe!

  • “Coz the Boys in tha Hood Are Always Hard. You come talking that trash, we’ll pull ya card. Knowin’ Nutin in life but to be legit. Don’t quote me Boy Coz I ain’t said S**t.

  • great video Dani! regarding the canned black beans…if I prefer to skip the canned ones I suppose I can use the dry beans too? (soak and cook them first). Am asking just to be absolutely sure. cant wait to try this.

  • Couldn’t wait to do the coffee cake (missing the coffee extract) so I had to make these for a chocolate fix! All I have to say is, well, you’ve done it again! Absolutely amazing!!! Lovely texture, not heavy at all! My friends are going crazy over your recipes!! We had it with some Walden farms choc syrup and greek yogurt. You made our day! Thanks:)

  • Dani you are changing the cooking game one recipe at a time. BLACK BEANS in brownies?! mind blown.
gonna try this soon bet it tastes great!

  • Thanks my friend. I do my best whenever I get some free time. Without all you guys (who I consider my friends) I wouldn’t have this channel!

  • O M gosh. You are so wonderful. I did not know you have to do many takes to get this right. Thanks for all the hard work. I can’t wait to try this recipe. I am glad I have subscribed to your channel. Where do you think I can find white wheat flour?

  • You are awesome man. The fact that you reply to comments on videos so regularly really makes you stand out compared to the other channels.

  • Hey, Emma, consider writing a cookbook! Rosanna Pansino came out with a themed Nerdy Nummies book that attracted tons of attention. I have it. I’d LOVE to buy one from you. Suggested themes could be Quick Fixes, Sweet Treats To Share (Or Not), Baking Hacks, etc.

  • Just made this with my girlfriend. It is really rich and dark tasting. would never have believed that these would tun out this good. Thank you ツ

  • Dani, I love your programs. But mixing beans and vanilla? I guess I have to try it to see how it turns out. Thank you for sharing.

  • Hi Dani, these look absolutely amazing. I’m sorry I’ve been MIA on YouTube, my mother had a stroke recently and I’ve been with her as she recovers. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your hubby. ❤

  • I was just wondering what the purpose was for adding oil? Could it be omitted? Thanks for your awesome videos; they’re short sweet and very informational!

  • i absolutly LOVE this recipe! this taste just like normal brownies plus they are healthy. i made them a couple of times and doing them again!! TYSM LY

  • I made some today and they were SO delicious!!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Everything else I’ve made in the past tasted like nonsense! Can’t thank you enough:)

  • So the black beans that I had were seasoned, but the end results tasted almost like a Mexican spiced dessert. It was so good I almost licked my blender! Keep the videos coming!(:

  • I was obsessed with this recipe back when I was on plant based diet. This one is one of the many I keep making all the time and its definitely one of the most favorite

  • Loved these, just made them! Little note for anyone reading this: I would use high quality maple syrup (I only had low quality, next time I will use better), and dark chocolate chips (I used milk and thought it would be richer in flavor with dark).

  • Thanks for the great idea. Made these today and they really do taste like brownies. Topped them with some peanut butter keto ice cream. Delicious!!

  • Just made these. They are good, but in my opinion, you NEED to add the chocolate chips!! I wish I had more cocoa powder to make the icing wich would have made these brownies taste much better, but even without icing,it was still good. Instead of using maple sirup(didn’t have any), I used some honey and since I ran out of it, I added some brown sugar too!! Will probably remake these even tho my mother was JUDGING me to use beans in them‍♀️ my father bought beans instead of black olives that my sister wanted BAHAHAH, so it came in handy

  • That looks pasty not cacky. Half the reason of eating brownies is about the cake like texture with a Crispy top and partially gooey creamy inside. I have tried different alternative brownies and they don’t measure up. Black bean is pasty on the surface of my tongue and not pleasant. I tried the egg whites and chocolate and it tased like chocolate foamy egg, it was suppose to have that meringue texture but it doesn’t work if you don’t have sugar. I’m sure there is a recipe out there that has the perfect layering dimension that hits the spot. Plus women shouldn’t be using to Stevia. Stevia was used as natural birth control in history but had been linked to permanent infertility in women as it effects the women’s reproductive system.

  • What do you suggest besides stevia. Have read some bad things about it. Also is there a bitter after taste because of the stevia? Thanks.

  • Could I make this with a banana added? I bought the real cinnamon, the one most of us buy at the stores isn’t even real cinnamon, it does not have the same good things the real cinnamon has, I was mad that  I’ve  been using the fake one,  it’s so much cheaper.

  • I cant get all these ingredients. I have red kidney beans, would these work? Also, I have white gluten free flour and coconut flour do you think maybe half of each of these flours work?

  • Hey Brittany Mullins! Love your recipe! But can I use sunflower oil instead of coconut oil? And can I used chopped up chocolate instead of chocolate chips?

  • You could potentially try great northern or pinto beans. I haven’t used them so I can’t testify to the taste but I can’t imagine it’d turn out bad.

  • Just made this today. For all those asking if the black bean makes the brownie taste weird it doesn’t! It was surprisingly very tasty, amazing amazing recipe thank you very much!!

  • it is such a great recipe!! I did it today and my family couldn´t believe that it is without sugar, flour and chocolate but instead with beans. really amazing, I love it and do this sure once again!:) the nutritionfacts are wonderful and it is very healthy, even in a diet!:)

  • When I tasted the batter, I knew it would have a great taste. I did soak the black beans in milk for about four hours and drained it. I also use butter maple syrup. I blended the butter maple syrup with five dates because I thought it needed a bit more sweetness, I don’t like chocolate chips in my brownies. I not only added walnuts but I added pecans.

  • There are some wonderful black bean brownies that I get once a year at a fair we go to, they are gluten-free and delish!  I have been looking for a recipe, TFS! And I will be happy to share, too!

  • I used this exact recipe before I saw this video. No joke those brownies are good and none of my fam suspected it was black beans.

  • I love this recipe! Just made it. Instead of maple syrup I used honey (3 tablespoons) and mix of almond and coconut flour ( 1 cup) instead of whole wheat flour. It’s extremely tasty!

  • I made it! It’s very yummy:) Definitely tastes best if you warm it up before you eat it, so its all gooey inside! Thanks for the recipe:)

  • I tried this it was amazing but I made some changes because I ran out of flour but I used oat flour believe me it was great. Thanks for making awesome videos . ❤❤❤

  • I made the chocolate one twice now after watching your video! Have done some changes in the proportions according to my taste though, but I loved the recipe!!
    Thank you Emma!

  • Well that’s a unique and delicious sounding variation. I love spicy foods…maybe I’ll give this a go. Sometimes “mistakes” make things even better! Thanks for the comment

  • OMG. I went on Instagram and told emma that i’d love to see some vegan recipes!!! And here this amazing girl is with a mug cake that can be made vegan?!?!?! Dude this is insane! Thanks emma!

  • I was wondering: Could you just microwave the milk at the same time as the butter? #lazy😀 Also: Huge thanks for a veganizable recipe!

  • Sorry to sound like an idiot guys, but when vanilla is an ingredient in these cakes, is it vanilla essence, vanilla bean or is there something else? I’ve always wanted to make some of the vanilla recipes here but im never sure on what vanilla as i cant find an item that is just vanilla.

  • I made these tonight absolutely delicious!! I was pleasantly surprised with the icing too. Will definitely be making these again. Thanks for the great recipe Dani!

  • Miss Emma I have a question is this kakao powder (I’m sorry I don’t know how to write in English I’m from germany) with sugar or without sugar?(in Germany there is one you need to cook with milk so it will become kakao and the other just you need to mix it with milk and it will be kakao)
