Athlete’s Guide to Avoiding Bloating, Cramping and Gastric Distress. Everyone faces the occasional gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort including bloating, gas, pain, cramping and/or frequent trips to the restroom. These issues aren’t fun for anyone, but mostly, they pass quickly and are not a. Eliminate certain foods.

Common gas-causing offenders include beans, peas, lentils, cabbage, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, whole-grain foods, mushrooms, certain fruits, and beer and other carbonated drinks. Try removing one food at a time to see if your gas improves. Read labels. A healthy gut and regular bowel movements can mean that you experience less digestive distress during endurance exercises. Taking probiotic supplements can help strengthen your gut and make you.

  • I find that when you just eat good food, high fibre, no fried food, drink plenty of water, exercise, you’ll have a good solid bowel movement. You eat crappy foods well…you pay for it, it’s not nice but you do have to think about that before you eat something. Eating the right food really cleans out your insides, and healthy food can be just as fun as unhealthy food, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries, banana, mango, beetroot, tomatoes, long beans, kefir, brown rice, chicken. I allow myself two days of treats, one day for maybe custard after dinner and the other I’ll have pizza or some burgers, usually Friday and Saturday, and if you combine this food with your usual fibre diet then better still, eat healthy even when you’re not eating healthy.

    I’ve not ever been able to burp and im 16 years old. I’ve burped like 10 times in my whole life and they’re only ever tiny and random out of no where theres no correlation to certain foods.

    I get this gurgle type noise almost like a bubble in my throat and I get lots of those I think instead of burps. I get incredibly bloated I’m fairly skinny and it’s not fat on my stomach, it gets very airy literally inflated like a balloon and looks ridiculous in proportion to my skinny body.

    Occasionally I get awful cramping after food this has happened about 3 times again randomly I kept a food diary and nothing triggers it apart from maybe fizzy drinks.

    I’ve read online about similar symptoms people get and they also cannot burp but it’s not well known about

    I’ve tried throat exercises and certain positions to lie in after eating but nothing changes I just cant burp.

    I thought it may be IBS at one point but i never had any trouble going to the toilet it was the just the pain and bloating and food didnt seem to not sit well with me it all seems non burp related or something to do with air and gas.

    Any ideas? Were going to go to the doctors and try and see a throat specialist but I’m worried it wont be taken seriously the only “cure” I’ve heard of is a throat evaluation and then a botox injection in a specific throat muscle that may be causing my inability to burp but I need to get checked out first and I know I’ll be told to try everything uve already done and probably not be given any help.

  • Drinking pure lemon juice with water only no sugar before bedtime really helps. I drink it with little bit cold water. 99 percent effective! My stomach less bloated and my lower abdomen whole stomach actually flattens. Plus i get clearer skin. No joking.

    Ps: dont drink after brushing teeth. Before brush teeth is the best time. Because it add bitterness sour taste to the lemon water. Wash mouth after, so the acid will not hurt your teeth as well.

  • i have the exact same thing!! i still need to complete the bacteria test but am too lazy to deal with it:( thank you for these videos. i struggle to explain to others why my stomach ALWAYS hurts. my family thought i was making it up until my gastroenterologist found several polyps in my intestines. so for sure there are some mechanical issues but she also thinks i have an overgrowth of bacteria.

  • I’ve been doing your workout vids for weeks. My body’s getting stronger. I am feeling a lot stronger than before. I’m diagnosed with hyperthyroidism so it really affects my mental health and physical health. I am taking medications for 6 months now. Since I started taking the meds I gained weight super fast. That’s why I tried your vids and trying to modify my diet. I can feel my abdominal muscles are getting stronger but bloating is evident. I dunno why. Maybe you’re right that after taking so many kinds of meds for a very long time really do affects my liver. And I feel so troubled RN.

  • My Mom is Greek Italian. Our family has always battled with stress and anxiety. As I turned 40 all kind of goofy things started happening with my heath with most of it no fault of it my own. I’ve been working on habits of diet and exercise and only recently with meditation and now yoga. Man it’s powerful stuff. Although I continue to slip into bad eating habits occasionally that ultimately keep me up at night with horrible digestion issues, it’s this video and a 10 minute meditation that flips the script pretty fast.   • I had a doctor that put me on acne medication that your only supposed to be on for 3 months,he left me on it for 3 years. I went to a new doctor with stomach pains and found out that my liver was close to failing. Luckily there’s no permanent damage but some doctor need to be way more careful with that stuff.

  • Gut issues cut dairy. It’s huge inflammation factor. I’ve been dairy free since 2008 and ita been amazing. Now I’ve been vegan for 4 years and definitely saw a big change once I cut the rest of animals products. I’m also allergic to gluten.

  • @chloeting check your birth control medicines. I suffered from extreme depression solely due to the hormones in the birth control medicine. I use the natural rhythm method for birth control. My mental state is 100% better. According to the fine print.0001% of women become severely depressed when on the pill.

  • All my life I’ve had stomach problems. When I was younger, after many many doctor appointments, blood tests, and x rays, I learned I had acid reflux. And over the years I developed (or became aware of) sensitivity to and problems digesting dairy, meat products, sauces, gluten, greasy/fried food, and basically everything except fruits, veggies, and whole foods. But boy do I bloat up like a balloon and have so much pain when I eat something other than the whole food plant based stuff

  • I get bloated of I eat carbs, particularly rice so I have to eat a low Carb diet. Fruit is OK, but things like rice, bread, noodles and starchy foods make me feel pregnant and nauseous

  • I went on Roaccutane too for a really long time and it made me so depressed as a teen, and that depression just became my normal. Roaccutane is a terrible drug honestly. Thereafter I developed IBS. Have also tried everything!

  • i’m surprised your doctor doesn’t mention IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) the syndrome encompasses a lot of gut-related issues. Like food intolerances (not being able to digest broccoli comfortably as you said) also stress and anxiety can cause flare-ups making symptoms worse, including bloating, bad bowel movements extra… it’s a really common issue and there is currently no cure, but it can be managed with lifestyle changes. I have IBS and within that many food intolerances, I tried for years to eat the foods I wanted and in the end, I just had to accept defeat and cut those trigger foods out of my diet. I also had to do daily light exercise and meditate/mindfulness to help reduce stress. I needed to especially focus on de-stressing during times such as my university exams.

  • People used to bully me when I was younger because my stomach was so bloated I looked pregnant, I would have to go to the doctor so often because I would get a stomach ache after meals. The doctors thought I was having too much wheat so I stopped but it didn’t work, they then said that I was probably lactose intolerant which i gave up and that actually helped a bit but I got checked and I was not lactose intolerant. Recently, I have had a flat stomach and defined abs in the morning but by lunch I would have developed a pregnant belly! I thought it had got better but I am not sure, any tips? Xx

  • As long as you keep eating meat, sugar, gluten and dairy, you’re going to keep having those problems. A plant-based diet is the solution to your problem.

  • I too have had bloating problems since I was a kid, along with other stomach issues. Every 3 months or so, there’s always an extreme wave of pain. It gets to a point where I move and I feel like my stomach’s insides are being burnt alive and it feels like there’s acid rain. This would happen after eating. It’d get to a point where I’d be crying so much and I felt like I had a migraine. Gone to hospital a few times when the pain got intolerable. I feel like in my chest too, and it’s something I dread to come, as it always comes back again and again. I’m trying to improve my physical and mental health too along with pain tolerance. If anyone is going through something in their life, push through it and embrace it despite the pain. Keep aiming to be better. Try to improve your skills everyday, and compare yourself today from yesterday. See what you achieved. Inside, you’re a strong, badass, amazing, special and confident person. You can become your own god/goddess if you push past your limits and strive towards a dream and something new. Nothing is impossible if you work hard and have determination. You can become what you want to become, and help others along the way. My biggest goal is to become stronger against pain, physically and stop being sensitive so I can overcome fear and pain.

    If you want to do something, stop waiting and do it! Now is the present, and it won’t last forever. The future is not a promise. Today is the day you do something great.

Tonight was a bit worse than normal and my pain was getting bad even after taking tums and such, I was so frustrated especially since it’s getting late and I have to be up in the morning!   • Thanks. I’ve been on a fitness journey (nutrition and exercise) all year and I see improvements in every part of my body but my stomach. Im just now thinking it’s something other than fat because my stomach seems filled with air and bloats mostly after meals. Might have to take a test as well

  • I had some similar problems, not all as mine I think is different. I kept getting migraines, kept feeling sick but never throwing up, couldn’t get out of bed, stomach hurting, gassy. I was originally diagnosed with gastritis, but these symptoms didn’t go away even after I changed my diet.

    Then I was referred to a dietician, and was told to do a food diary, gave my symptoms in detail, as there were other things going on as well. I was told I have histamine intolerance. Unfortunately histamine occurs naturally in many foods, healthy and unhealthy alike, some more so than others. Since then, I have gotten better, and allow myself a treat from time to time.

  • I used to have anorexia and after that I’ve had sibo for years and have tried everything. I now eat just as much as when I was anorexic that made me lose 60 lbs from my healthy weight to being 10-15 lbs over my healthy weight. Like HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE. I’ve done every diet taken every supplement have done antibiotics for a year now, and it hurts so so so bad I feel like my stomach is rotting and I’m overflowing with puke and I feel so so so disgusting. I just want to me a thin healthy weight like before anorexia and actually be able to eat more than 500 calories a day. It’s miserable and no one believes me because I’m not anorexic sized anymore. It makes me suicidal all the time

  • If your bloating you dont have enough acid to digest. Drink lemon/lime warm water morning before eating. Drink lime/lemon during most of ur meals especially heavy greasy meals or meat. Take ginger everyday

  • In my case, bloating (understand: 6-month-pregnant-looking bloating) happens instantly after having as little as half a glass of water on an empty stomach. Absolutely nothing has ever helped. Nothing.

  • I been having this for whole month. Very uncomfortable gas pain.i was told I have blood in my stool is this causing me to have one bowl a day and still feel bloated after.its seem my digestion going slow
