Registered Dietitian Abbey Sharp goes head to head with Extreme Diet Debbie to debunk some of the most well-known belly fat loss myths currently circulating around the web.. Abbey sets the record straight in this video and gives you pure unadulterated truth about the causes of belly fat. She also offers some great suggestions on how to shed that extra weight in a safe, natural way. The fact of the matter is, if you have belly fat it’s probably because you have fat in lots of other places as well. Weight gain in your belly area is typically just a side effect of gaining weight in general. Each person has a different body type, some lean more towards the pear shape, others a bit more rotund, but you need to understand that this is simply genetics at work. There is no magic belly weight loss method that can alter your genetics, sorry to have to be the one to break it to you.. The first belly fat loss tip Abbey debunks is the Paleo diet. You know, the one where you cut all the sugar and carbs out of your diet including fruit. No dietitian, including Abbey, could deny that eating tons of sugary, heavily refined carb foods will put a serious caloric load on your body and can in turn spike your insulin levels resulting in weight gain. However, sugar does not seem to have any unique impact on belly fat beyond that. Regarding fruit, fruit actually contains the sugar fructose which one study did find lead to belly fat. However, the researchers were not actually studying whole fruit. Whole fruit contains fiber, water, glucose, vitamins and even minerals. On top of that to actually see weight gain from whole fruit you would have to eat about 1.5 kg of apples, and let’s be honest, unless your Freelee the banana girl that seems pretty unlikely. The bottom line here is that fruit and carbs in general are not the belly fat culprit. However, in-taking low-fiber carbs through an excess of juice or pop may add extra calories to your diet which can in turn lead to weight gain everywhere on the body, not just on your belly.. The second tip Abbey debunks is the use of coconut oil to lose weight in general, but especially belly fat. The claim behind this is that it is a natural cleansing agent that burns fat regardless of how much you eat. This is simply not true, period. Coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides which studies suggest are more satiating than other saturated fats and are not as easily stored as body fat. There are actually some small studies that suggest that medium-chain triglycerides may be useful for weight loss and possibly even belly fat loss, but the results in humans have been mixed at best. Also, it’s important to note that coconut oil isn’t pure MCT so it’s hard to know how much you would have to consume to see the benefits, and it’s hard to know if drinking that many calories would offset any fat burning benefits you might reap as a reward. Instead of drinking coconut oil in a an effort to shave off unwanted belly fat try swapping some of your cooking oils for coconut oil. That kind of change would of course be contingent on you actually enjoying the flavor of coconut oil in your food.. The third tip to trim off those extra pounds around the waist that Abbey goes after is the excessive use of crunches. Any weight trainer in any gym anywhere in the world will tell you point blank that spot reduction weight training does not work. Research has found that performing daily ab exercises results in no change in weight or waist circumference. If you’re going after that ultra shredded washboard abs look you’re going to have to do a lot more than some ab exercises each morning. In order to get a six pack you have to build up that muscle through weight training and proper diet and then make a serious effort to burn off the fat that you’ve accumulated prior to beginning your weight training. If you never burn off that fat you’ll never see the definition of the muscles underneath it. It is of critical importance to have a strong core for general health, but if the rationale for your sit-ups and crunches is to remove extra belly fat save your time and energy because you will be disappointed with the lackluster results.. You probably don’t want to hear this, but if you are serious about losing belly fat you have to really bring your focus on in fat and weight at the same time. Abbey suggests a diet high in fiber and protein to promote satiety, daily exercise, especially high intensity interval training, getting a proper amount of sleep, and managing your stress levels.. Abbey sets the record straight in this video and gives you pure unadulterated truth about the causes of belly fat. She also offers some great suggestions on how to shed that extra weight in a safe, natural way. The fact of the matter is, if you have belly fat it’s probably because you have fat in lots of other places as well. Weight gain in your belly area is typically just a side effect of gaining weight in general. Each person has a different body type, some lean more towards the pear shape, others a bit more rotund, but you need to understand that this is simply genetics at work. There is no magic belly weight loss method that can alter your genetics, sorry to have to be the one to break it to you.. The first belly fat loss tip Abbey debunks is the Paleo diet. You know, the one where you cut all the sugar and carbs out of your diet including fruit. No dietitian, including Abbey, could deny that eating tons of sugary, heavily refined carb foods will put a serious caloric load on your body and can in turn spike your insulin levels resulting in weight gain. However, sugar does not seem to have any unique impact on belly fat beyond that. Regarding fruit, fruit actually contains the sugar fructose which one study did find lead to belly fat. However, the researchers were not actually studying whole fruit. Whole fruit contains fiber, water, glucose, vitamins and even minerals. On top of that to actually see weight gain from whole fruit you would have to eat about 1.5 kg of apples, and let’s be honest, unless your Freelee the banana girl that seems pretty unlikely. The bottom line here is that fruit and carbs in general are not the belly fat culprit. However, in-taking low-fiber carbs through an excess of juice or pop may add extra calories to your diet which can in turn lead to weight gain everywhere on the body, not just on your belly.. The second tip Abbey debunks is the use of coconut oil to lose weight in general, but especially belly fat. The claim behind this is that it is a natural cleansing agent that burns fat regardless of how much you eat. This is simply not true, period. Coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides which studies suggest are more satiating than other saturated fats and are not as easily stored as body fat. There are actually some small studies that suggest that medium-chain triglycerides may be useful for weight loss and possibly even belly fat loss, but the results in humans have been mixed at best. Also, it’s important to note that coconut oil isn’t pure MCT so it’s hard to know how much you would have to consume to see the benefits, and it’s hard to know if drinking that many calories would offset any fat burning benefits you might reap as a reward. Instead of drinking coconut oil in a an effort to shave off unwanted belly fat try swapping some of your cooking oils for coconut oil. That kind of change would of course be contingent on you actually enjoying the flavor of coconut oil in your food.. The third tip to trim off those extra pounds around the waist that Abbey goes after is the excessive use of crunches. Any weight trainer in any gym anywhere in the world will tell you point blank that spot reduction weight training does not work. Research has found that performing daily ab exercises results in no change in weight or waist circumference. If you’re going after that ultra shredded washboard abs look you’re going to have to do a lot more than some ab exercises each morning. In order to get a six pack you have to build up that muscle through weight training and proper diet and then make a serious effort to burn off the fat that you’ve accumulated prior to beginning your weight training. If you never burn off that fat you’ll never see the definition of the muscles underneath it. Will Smith said that he stops eating at 4pm, I tried it and losing weight works faster than any gym. The key is to pack all your nutrients during this time. That works for me plus you can, do some very fast running for 100 or 200 metres once per week. Surgery, sono Bella, liposuction are options to keep that small waist and broad hips. If exercise doesn’t work, be very happy with the body the creator gives you. Ignore the naysayers, you have one life to live, enjoy. One love
Hey, Cristy! I have tried so many things to try and get rid of this stupid belly fat. Slim Fast, Susan Powter (remember her?), Dr. Phil’s diet (which worked well, but I stopped following it), Weight Watchers. Vegan diet, which is where I am now…and walking/running. I trained for a half marathon a year and a half ago, and all the miles I was putting in helped with the overall fat. Your system makes sense, but I don’t know how to eat a vegan diet that would fit in with this program. I am joining the 10 lb takedown tomorrow. Thanks for all you do, you rock!!

My Carnivore OMAD meal around 5 pm example: 2 thin cut ribeye steaks, 2 pasture raised brown eggs over easy covered with Sharp Cheddar, piece of liver, small can of sardines in tomato sauce. All meat cooked with Kerry Gold Butter or coconut oil and basic seasonings. Very tasty and will fill me up. Don’t know the calorie count, how much protein, don’t really care. Very simple, basic, healthy and cost effective. I have no hunger till the next evening. I try to eat a nice mix of proteins/meats every day. I’m currently 168 pounds from 230 at 53 years old and nearly perfect blood pressure. 125/72. Humans ate like this for perhaps millions of years. Ease into this natural way of eating because your sugar/carb addiction will be the hardest part to overcome. Dont rush, its baby steps….slowly eliminate the carbs and sugars.

I’ve lost 1 stone since I cut off oil(any oil), it was amazing, I was shocked. I do eat good quality carbs such as organic potatoes, sweet potatoes, quinoa and home made rye sourdough bread. I make vinegar based dressings which have very little fat, that fat we need(for example, sesame seeds, hemp seeds). I eat a lot, but I am slim. Thanks for your advise. oxox
This was very helpful…and I’ve been low carb/keto for over 10 years and live at a decent weight (that fluctuates a few pounds up or down). But I needed to hear this today. I never went off plan all of 2019, but then I had a tiny drink in December along with a taste of a couple different wines at a dinner. From what I have read and studied, Keto (precursor) was developed in the late 1800s and revised in the early 1900s for Diabetics and Epileptics. Additionally, a Nobel Prize was given for the discovery that Cancer CANNOT reproduce (spread/grow) in a low sugar/zero sugar environment.. in the 1930s/1940s (argument as to exact date).

There is a way to tell if your bread is whole grain or just refined flour. On the package label, look for the carbohydrates and the fiber. Divide the number of grams of carbohydrates by the number of grams of fiber. If the result is 5 or under, then you have a whole grain bread. If the result is more than 5, then your bread is not whole grain, has insufficient fiber, and is not healthy. Leave it on the store shelf.

You are absolutely right especially with what you said about doctors. I had a spinal infection for most of 2018 and half of 2019. The Drs. Had no idea where it came from or why I had it. They put me on antibiotics for over a year and I just kept getting worse. I discovered keto through my sister who did research on inflammatory diseases and how to control it with diet. I had foggy brain, I couldn’t walk and I was depressed. I started keto in July, it is now January 2020 and I have no more infection. I stopped taking the medicine on my own. I told my primary Dr. who said she is an advocate of keto and low carb although it is looked down upon in the medical community. I was shocked something helped me to feel better and it is shunned so to speak. Gillian Michaels is about her almighty dollar. She is the biggest loser there is. If her plan worked those contestants would still be in shape. Yet look at the persons who have stuck to keto, have become fat adapted. Ok please listen to Ms. Violet, do your own research.
I got a question rather an experiment…for heart medics…lets say if someone with high bp…worked out only the lower part of his body..increasing the muscle mass in the legs only….in a disproportionate manner to the rest of the body….would that move cause more strain on the heart to pump and supply blood?… or would it create more blood in the legs stagnation while standing?..thus decreasing bp…..other experiments would be for someone working out only the upper part of his body….and third experiment for someone gradually working out all his body….

I started eating one slice of bread, where normally I would eat two, also, No buns, when I grill a hamburger, I toast a piece bread, cut it in half, and use that as my (Crunchy) Bun Substitute… Tis pretty good. Anyways, when you finally cut out most refined sugars, fill up instead on Apple’s, and Carrots and such, Hummus, Guac, Eggs, Peanut butter, celery, Quality Meat. You really start to lose that belly fat!

When I was 8-9 years old back in the 80’s I was taken to a doctor in Mexico for a check-up. I was kinda chubby and I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I still remember the doctor telling my mom to not feed me anymore flour, or sugars he said no carbs. Doc said only eat beef, chicken, pork rinds, fish, eggs, milk, butter. I still remember that so clearly.

One thing has always bothered me in the context of spot-reducing. People who take insulin tend to get fat “bumps” where the insulin goes. Wouldn’t this lend to the possibility of spot-reducing by causing the opposite effect?

I only lose weight when I follow a couple rules: don’t eat past 6, record everything I eat on a nutrition app balancing carbs/proteins/fats, exercise 5 days a week: 3 are 1 hour each indoor, 2 are 3 hours each outdoors, plan my meals, make most of my meals, stay off sugars healthy or processed, feel good by the fit of my clothes

Tried probably almost everything short of weight loss surgery. Pills, shakes, lots of exercise, AB focused challenges, just not eating…it’s still there. Well, less now than last year when I look at some photos as I started working with the Ketogenic diet which meant cutting out sugars and the last few months have been looking at CR with my son and daughter-in-law.

Is there a need/must for those with insulin resistance to exercise while doing Keto? I’ve noticed that many keto/ketoviore people aren’t exercising, but again many aren’t diabetic, or insulin resistant either.

Limit your carbs and your body will eat the fat for energy. The fat melts away. No bread is good for you. No sugar is good for you. No fake sugar is good for you. IF (Intermittent fasting) is great. We eat at noon and 6pm to 7pm. NO cheat meals!

I mave lost almost all of my bellyfat on the Keto Diet. I try to eat High fat 70%, Moderate Protein 25% and no more than 5% carbs daily. My Keto diet started Nov 26 2019 at 163 lbs, 5ft 4 in, and today Jan 19, 2020 I weighed in at 146.2. This is at 50 years old with a high stess job. It can be done. You just have to stick with it without waivering. This is without working out also.
On eating out: if you can’t share the meal, ask for a to-go box at start of meal (or bring your own), then when the food comes, immediately pack up at least half of it. Not only is it more sanitary to do this before you start eating, the leftovers are more appealing when they’re untouched. I do enjoy your videos lots of good information! I was in a bad wreck in 2005 that left me partially disabled, and have done probably 30 months of PT over the years since then for various things, and it’s great to have your videos to remind me of proper form and exercises.

It’s a shame….I will say that I recently saw her in an interview n someone was talking about female singer lizzo…wand how we should celebrate lizzo body type. I’m 250lb and I know better than that…I’m on keto trying to lose weight but to celebrate disease n obesity is essentially what that means. I used to put 4 tsps/ 1 heaped tbs of sugar in my tea, thankfully none now but it was so so so hard and it took commitment, will power and time…but it worked . I HATE! sugar in tea now. Yay!
I use to make homemade bread every week, I gain to much weight I had to stop having bread in the house. I lost so much weight eating just potatoes, so fast. I was following spudfit on youtube when he started his journey losing over 100 lbs on just potatoes. I still eat potatoes as my base with California blend vegetables and two fruits per day, for a break I will use the red lentil chili as a base, no oils, no process foods, no dairy is best for me.
Portion control is a hoax because nobody is going to eat less than enough so it’s all about eating healthy calories. You can stuff yourself with lettuce and loose weight but not with burgers and fries.

You are absolutely right especially with what you said about doctors. I had a spinal infection for most of 2018 and half of 2019. The Drs. Had no idea where it came from or why I had it. They put me on antibiotics for over a year and I just kept getting worse. I discovered keto through my sister who did research on inflammatory diseases and how to control it with diet. I had foggy brain, I couldn’t walk and I was depressed. I started keto in July, it is now January 2020 and I have no more infection. I stopped taking the medicine on my own. I told my primary Dr. who said she is an advocate of keto and low carb although it is looked down upon in the medical community. I was shocked something helped me to feel better and it is shunned so to speak. Gillian Michaels is about her almighty dollar. She is the biggest loser there is. So cutting out middle of the night snacking, does this count when breastfeeding? I’m up about every 4 hours with the lil one and have hunger pangs everytime I wake up to the point where I can’t get back to sleep unless I eat something granola & fruits are usually my go to but man. It is impossible to loose fat from any specific location by targeting that location. When you excersize/move your body converts the fats in your body to glucose and it is pumped all around your body in your blood and is utilized by your muscles when they are being contracted. There is a fantastic book by Ruben Meerman called big fat myths that scientifically debunks the common misconception that most people believe about wieght loss. Even some of the ones you guys are talking about. A basic balanced diet with a calorie intake lower than what you are burning will result in right loss.
I tried whats called ‘the root’ you are literally pooping every meal you eat, it burns your fats but wherever it burns it almost feels like you’re being bruised. You have to eat a banana to 2 bananas a day in order to not have crazy muscle cramps during the night and day! AND you have to continuously take this ‘root’ to keep the weight off

You guys need to look up “If It Fits Your Macros”. Essentially, losing weight is just a law of thermodynamics, less calories in than your daily maintenance (expenditure from your body simply staying alive) means weight loss. You can play with proteins, carbs, fats, but it all comes down to calories. Hey, Cristy! I have tried so many things to try and get rid of this stupid belly fat. Slim Fast, Susan Powter (remember her?), Dr. Phil’s diet (which worked well, but I stopped following it), Weight Watchers. Vegan diet, which is where I am now…and walking/running. I trained for a half marathon a year and a half ago, and all the miles I was putting in helped with the overall fat. Your system makes sense, but I don’t know how to eat a vegan diet that would fit in with this program. I am joining the 10 lb takedown tomorrow. Thanks for all you do, you rock!!

Two tips for long term weight loss. 1. Lower portion size by at least half. Americans have a tendency to eat twice as much food that we need to. 2. Keep track of everything you put in your mouth. Once you write it down or take pictures of all that you eat you’ll realize just how much volume of food you are eating. I can only speak from experience. I lost 90 lbs six years ago and have kept it off practicing these two simple things.

I have read High Fructose Corn Syrup is incredibly Worse than the awful Cane sugar. I quit all sugar combined low carb Keto diet w/intermittent fasting after 6 mo. my serum A1c went from 7.3 to 5.1 (that’s an average glucose level of 100) and it has changed my life I no longer have insulin resistance and I have more energy, improved my skin and lost a ton of weight plus I no longer feel depressed. Since I am working from home, I am not tempted by the office donuts, cakes and cookiesand shockingly (not) I lost 5 pounds. I am using this time to prepare lovely and nourishing meals, made with quality ingredients and exercise. Am eating more protein ( eggs, tofu, yogurt, bean & fish) & veggies (lots of garden herb salads with plenty of olive oil, lots of stirfry and steamed green) and springtime berries. Carbsof course! But smaller servingsand now those smaller servings, with the vegetables, are very filling and satisfying. The belly which I swore I was going stick around for ever has slowly shrunk.
My goodness… have juice with cereal? How does that keep insulin low? The carbohydrate in the cereal converts to glucose which means you are actually getting even more of an insulin spike.

I went a bit extreme low net card for a while to get rid of sugar craving and it works. Lost my desire for sweets completely. I do eat about more carb now but found a bit of hard core 20 net carbs a day really changed something. A bit hard to do as a vegan but being home and not traveling was a good time to do it. I don’t care for stevia but if you must try a bit of that and monk fruit to bridge the gap.
Look up the Gucci Westman (YouTube) strawberry hemp milk recipe. Very low sugar, yummy and very filling. Have made that once a week since I found it.
I don’t think I have ever seen anyone with six pack abs and flab on other parts of their body. People with good looking abs don’t have much flab anywhere.
Any connection with our taste buds? Sugar is the least of our worries in our house. My son who is 13 wont even let me buy a birthday cake for him every year as he says the taste makes him sick. This was very helpful…and I’ve been low carb/keto for over 10 years and live at a decent weight (that fluctuates a few pounds up or down). But I needed to hear this today. I never went off plan all of 2019, but then I had a tiny drink in December along with a taste of a couple different wines at a dinner. I NEVER drink (I can’t even tell you the last time…I go years without and then I’ll taste something that’s it). Now I know where this puffiness and belly fat came from and why it’s not budging. I started eating one slice of bread, where normally I would eat two, also, No buns, when I grill a hamburger, I toast a piece bread, cut it in half, and use that as my (Crunchy) Bun Substitute… Tis pretty good. Anyways, when you finally cut out most refined sugars, fill up instead on Apple’s, and Carrots and such, Hummus, Guac, Eggs, Peanut butter, celery, Quality Meat. You really start to lose that belly fat!

First of all, genetics play a role with the type of shape you have. Secondly, delay eating in the mornings to 9am or 10 am and stop eating at 4pm. Will Smith said that he stops eating at 4pm, I tried it and losing weight works faster than any gym. The key is to pack all your nutrients during this time. That works for me plus you can, do some very fast running for 100 or 200 metres once per week. Surgery, sono Bella, liposuction are options to keep that small waist and broad hips. If exercise doesn’t work, be very happy with the body the creator gives you. Ignore the naysayers, you have one life to live, enjoy. One love

Slim Fast, Susan Powter (remember her?), Dr. Phil’s diet (which worked well, but I stopped following it), Weight Watchers. Vegan diet, which is where I am now…and walking/running. I trained for a half marathon a year and a half ago, and all the miles I was putting in helped with the overall fat. Your system makes sense, but I don’t know how to eat a vegan diet that would fit in with this program. I am joining the 10 lb takedown tomorrow. Thanks for all you do, you rock!!

Jillian Michaels has seen exercise work and is running with that. You can depleat your glycogen stores thought exercise or fasting. She’s like a drill sergeant. Eating multiple servings of fruit each day is marketing by the fruit industry and is not necessary.
My Carnivore OMAD meal around 5 pm example: 2 thin cut ribeye steaks, 2 pasture raised brown eggs over easy covered with Sharp Cheddar, piece of liver, small can of sardines in tomato sauce. All meat cooked with Kerry Gold Butter or coconut oil and basic seasonings. Very tasty and will fill me up. Don’t know the calorie count, how much protein, don’t really care. Very simple, basic, healthy and cost effective. I have no hunger till the next evening. I try to eat a nice mix of proteins/meats every day. I’m currently 168 pounds from 230 at 53 years old and nearly perfect blood pressure. 125/72. Humans ate like this for perhaps millions of years. Ease into this natural way of eating because your sugar/carb addiction will be the hardest part to overcome. Dont rush, its baby steps….slowly eliminate the carbs and sugars.

First of all, genetics play a role with the type of shape you have. Secondly, delay eating in the mornings to 9am or 10 am and stop eating at 4pm. Will Smith said that he stops eating at 4pm, I tried it and losing weight works faster than any gym. The key is to pack all your nutrients during this time. That works for me plus you can, do some very fast running for 100 or 200 metres once per week. Surgery, sono Bella, liposuction are options to keep that small waist and broad hips. If exercise doesn’t work, be very happy with the body the creator gives you. Ignore the naysayers, you have one life to live, enjoy. One love

I’ve lost 1 stone since I cut off oil(any oil), it was amazing, I was shocked. I do eat good quality carbs such as organic potatoes, sweet potatoes, quinoa and home made rye sourdough bread. I make vinegar based dressings which have very little fat, that fat we need(for example, sesame seeds, hemp seeds). I eat a lot, but I am slim. Thanks for your advise. oxox
This was very helpful…and I’ve been low carb/keto for over 10 years and live at a decent weight (that fluctuates a few pounds up or down). But I needed to hear this today. I never went off plan all of 2019, but then I had a tiny drink in December along with a taste of a couple different wines at a dinner. I NEVER drink (I can’t even tell you the last time…I go years without and then I’ll taste something that’s it). Now I know where this puffiness and belly fat came from and why it’s not budging. From what I have read and studied, Keto (precursor) was developed in the late 1800s and revised in the early 1900s for Diabetics and Epileptics. Additionally, a Nobel Prize was given for the discovery that Cancer CANNOT reproduce (spread/grow) in a low sugar/zero sugar environment.. in the 1930s/1940s (argument as to exact date).

There is a way to tell if your bread is whole grain or just refined flour. On the package label, look for the carbohydrates and the fiber. Divide the number of grams of carbohydrates by the number of grams of fiber. If the result is 5 or under, then you have a whole grain bread. If the result is more than 5, then your bread is not whole grain, has insufficient fiber, and is not healthy. Leave it on the store shelf.

You are absolutely right especially with what you said about doctors. I had a spinal infection for most of 2018 and half of 2019. The Drs. Had no idea where it came from or why I had it. They put me on antibiotics for over a year and I just kept getting worse. I discovered keto through my sister who did research on inflammatory diseases and how to control it with diet. I had foggy brain, I couldn’t walk and I was depressed. I started keto in July, it is now January 2020 and I have no more infection. I stopped taking the medicine on my own. I got a question rather an experiment…for heart medics…lets say if someone with high bp…worked out only the lower part of his body..increasing the muscle mass in the legs only….in a disproportionate manner to the rest of the body….would that move cause more strain on the heart to pump and supply blood?… or would it create more blood in the legs stagnation while standing?..thus decreasing bp…..other experiments would be for someone working out only the upper part of his body….and third experiment for someone gradually working out all his body….
To the effect of what Brad said at 6:30…. I started eating one slice of bread, where normally I would eat two, also, No buns, when I grill a hamburger, I toast a piece bread, cut it in half, and use that as my (Crunchy) Bun Substitute… Tis pretty good.
Anyways, when you finally cut out most refined sugars, fill up instead on Apple’s, and Carrots and such, Hummus, Guac, Eggs, Peanut butter, celery, Quality Meat.

When I was 8-9 years old back in the 80’s I was taken to a doctor in Mexico for a check-up. I was kinda chubby and I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. One thing has always bothered me in the context of spot-reducing. People who take insulin tend to get fat “bumps” where the insulin goes. Wouldn’t this lend to the possibility of spot-reducing by causing the opposite effect?

I only lose weight when I follow a couple rules: don’t eat past 6, record everything I eat on a nutrition app balancing carbs/proteins/fats, exercise 5 days a week: 3 are 1 hour each indoor, 2 are 3 hours each outdoors, plan my meals, make most of my meals, stay off sugars healthy or processed, feel good by the fit of my clothes

It would really help if you would link the studies to make this more believable. If you don’t it makes it hard to believe this. Without factual evidence easy to find that backs up your argument it’s ultimately flawed, and I find I cannot believe it.

Tried probably almost everything short of weight loss surgery. Pills, shakes, lots of exercise, AB focused challenges, just not eating…it’s still there. Well, less now than last year when I look at some photos as I started working with the Ketogenic diet which meant cutting out sugars and the last few months have been looking at CR with my son and daughter-in-law.

Is there a need/must for those with insulin resistance to exercise while doing Keto? I’ve noticed that many keto/ketoviore people aren’t exercising, but again many aren’t diabetic, or insulin resistant either.

I mave lost almost all of my bellyfat on the Keto Diet. I try to eat High fat 70%, Moderate Protein 25% and no more than 5% carbs daily. My Keto diet started Nov 26 2019 at 163 lbs, 5ft 4 in, and today Jan 19, 2020 I weighed in at 146.2. This is at 50 years old with a high stess job. It can be done. You just have to stick with it without waivering. This is without working out also.
On eating out: if you can’t share the meal, ask for a to-go box at start of meal (or bring your own), then when the food comes, immediately pack up at least half of it. Not only is it more sanitary to do this before you start eating, the leftovers are more appealing when they’re untouched. I do enjoy your videos lots of good information! I was in a bad wreck in 2005 that left me partially disabled, and have done probably 30 months of PT over the years since then for various things, and it’s great to have your videos to remind me of proper form and exercises.

I used to put 4 tsps/ 1 heaped tbs of sugar in my tea, thankfully none now but it was so so so hard and it took commitment, will power and time…but it worked . I HATE! sugar in tea now. Yay!
I use to make homemade bread every week, I gain to much weight I had to stop having bread in the house. I lost so much weight eating just potatoes, so fast. I was following spudfit on youtube when he started his journey losing over 100 lbs on just potatoes. I still eat potatoes as my base with California blend vegetables and two fruits per day, for a break I will use the red lentil chili as a base, no oils, no process foods, no dairy is best for me.

So cutting out middle of the night snacking, does this count when breastfeeding? I’m up about every 4 hours with the lil one and have hunger pangs everytime I wake up to the point where I can’t get back to sleep unless I eat something granola & fruits are usually my go to but man. Sometimes I wake up & feel like this baby is literally draining the life out of me.

It is impossible to loose fat from any specific location by targeting that location. When you excersize/move your body converts the fats in your body to glucose and it is pumped all around your body in your blood and is utilized by your muscles when they are being contracted. There is a fantastic book by Ruben Meerman called big fat myths that scientifically debunks the common misconception that most people believe about wieght loss. Even some of the ones you guys are talking about. A basic balanced diet with a calorie intake lower than what you are burning will result in right loss.
I tried whats called ‘the root’ you are literally pooping every meal you eat, it burns your fats but wherever it burns it almost feels like you’re being bruised. You have to eat a banana to 2 bananas a day in order to not have crazy muscle cramps during the night and day! AND you have to continuously take this ‘root’ to keep the weight off

You guys need to look up “If It Fits Your Macros”. Essentially, losing weight is just a law of thermodynamics, less calories in than your daily maintenance (expenditure from your body simply staying alive) means weight loss. You can play with proteins, carbs, fats, but it all comes down to calories. Also, intermittent fasting or cutting carbs plays no direct benefit to losing weight, just means and methods to ultimately eat less calories just found yall’s videos not too long ago looking up shoulder labrum tears. You must run for FOUR hours to burn 3000 calories. Really easy to do? If you are young and already in shape, SURE. PLEASE! I am on Keto and for three months, I have lost 30 pounds. I cannot run at 67 years of age. Let Jillian rant we know what keto can do.

Having said that i would like to offer some constructive thoughts as i am an advocate of scientifically proven evidence-based practices and methods when it comes to exercise and nutrition (NASM personal trainer my self). Through my years of studying these subjects i have come across what the industry shows to be some of the best people regarding knowledge & contribution in these subjects and since you are also preparing a video i would like to share their names as researching them and their body of research/work will greatly assist in your efforts to present accurate, research based information.
Here are some of the people who are on top of their respective fields, offer vast knowledge, contribute through science and can be found online for anyone to benefit: (leaving titles like Dr etc out, so here is just the names) Brad Schoenfeld, Eric Helms, James Krieger, Martin McDonald, Spencer Nadolsky, Layne Norton. There are many others but these come to mind at the moment as the most prominent and evidence-based professionals. One more name has offered a lot through research and their career and is worth looking into despite their recent transgressions which are not a subject of discussion on this comment and that is Alan Aragon.

I stopped going to conventionally trained MDs that sit in offices all day writing prescriptions after seeing you for only 10 minutes with no testing. They are nothing but legal drug pushers for big Pharma and their toxic drugs! Many are quacks and what they do will make you worse off if you listen to them and comply. They are very dismissive and condescending if you are into natural health and question what they are doing. Other than a real dire emergency giving me a reason to see an ER MD, I only go to holistic trained non drug functional medicine doctors. You’ll be better off.

The “six-packs” you see everwhere are steroids and that’s the big lie. Belly fat can be visceral or adipose, visceral is stubborn and deadly. Low carb is bs! Keto is the dumb ass diet dujour.
Losing weight is a challenge. but I managed to lose weight following this diet: “the2weekdietnow” (G00GLE it) I lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks.
On eating out: if you can’t share the meal, ask for a to-go box at start of meal (or bring your own), then when the food comes, immediately pack up at least half of it. Not only is it more sanitary to do this before you start eating, the leftovers are more appealing when they’re untouched. I do enjoy your videos lots of good information! I was in a bad wreck in 2005 that left me partially disabled, and have done probably 30 months of PT over the years since then for various things, and it’s great to have your videos to remind me of proper form and exercises.
Two tips for long term weight loss. 1. Lower portion size by at least half. Americans have a tendency to eat twice as much food that we need to. 2. Keep track of everything you put in your mouth. Once you write it down or take pictures of all that you eat you’ll realize just how much volume of food you are eating. I can only speak from experience. I lost 90 lbs six years ago and have kept it off practicing these two simple things.

You use a lot of nuts/seeds and I want to get on board with that but I’m conflicted because of my previous knowledge of PUFAS and their connection to free radicals, oxidation, hormone imbalance, suppressed digestion, and suppressed immune system. It would really help if you would link the studies to make this more believable. If you don’t it makes it hard to believe this. Without factual evidence easy to find that backs up your argument it’s ultimately flawed, and I find I cannot believe it.

Hmm… When I lived in Italy, I was wolfing down large helpings of pasta twice a day (with the evening meal around 8:00 PM.). Plus, gelato whenever I had the chance. When I returned to the States after one year, I had lost close to 20 pounds.

I have read High Fructose Corn Syrup is incredibly Worse than the awful Cane sugar. I quit all sugar combined low carb Keto diet w/intermittent fasting after 6 mo. my serum A1c went from 7.3 to 5.1 (that’s an average glucose level of 100) and it has changed my life I no longer have insulin resistance and I have more energy, improved my skin and lost a ton of weight plus I no longer feel depressed. You can. spot. reduce. visceral. fat. It is done by getting insulin levels low. Fasting, moderate exercise, and minimizing processed carbohydrates.
The reason Michaels doesn’t “know” this is because she believes in the calorie model of weight loss/maintenance. Here career is built on it and dependent on it. As far as she is concerned, 100 calories of sugar and 100 calories of lard sauteed-kale is the same to the body.
To believe this, you have to willfully ignore insulin as a factor. This, of course, is ignoring the elephant in the room.
Bob Harper got a heart attack because he didn’t understand/acknowledge insulin (hyperinsulinemia) as the driver of inflammation, chronic disease and type 2 diabetes. He conveniently blames genetics (as does the medical establishment).
Michaels and Harper are establishment lackeys who built their careers on corporate-fitness industry, medical industry propaganda. The money is very good. They’re probably not going to change.
Since I am working from home, I am not tempted by the office donuts, cakes and cookiesand shockingly (not) I lost 5 pounds. I am using this time to prepare lovely and nourishing meals, made with quality ingredients and exercise. Am eating more protein ( eggs, tofu, yogurt, bean & fish) & veggies (lots of garden herb salads with plenty of olive oil, lots of stirfry and steamed green) and springtime berries. Carbsof course! But smaller servingsand now those smaller servings, with the vegetables, are very filling and satisfying. The belly which I swore I was going stick around for ever has slowly shrunk.
My goodness… have juice with cereal? How does that keep insulin low? The carbohydrate in the cereal converts to glucose which means you are actually getting even more of an insulin spike.

I went a bit extreme low net card for a while to get rid of sugar craving and it works. Lost my desire for sweets completely. I do eat about more carb now but found a bit of hard core 20 net carbs a day really changed something. A bit hard to do as a vegan but being home and not traveling was a good time to do it. I don’t care for stevia but if you must try a bit of that and monk fruit to bridge the gap.
Look up the Gucci Westman (YouTube) strawberry hemp milk recipe. Very low sugar, yummy and very filling. Have made that once a week since I found it.
I don’t think I have ever seen anyone with six pack abs and flab on other parts of their body. People with good looking abs don’t have much flab anywhere.
Any connection with our taste buds? Sugar is the least of our worries in our house. My son who is 13 wont even let me buy a birthday cake for him every year as he says the taste makes him sick. Ditto with ice cream. Neither of us eats sauce of any kind eg stirfry sauce as it ruins the meal for us. However we like salty/fat. Could it be our taste buds from birth?

This was very helpful…and I’ve been low carb/keto for over 10 years and live at a decent weight (that fluctuates a few pounds up or down). But I needed to hear this today. I never went off plan all of 2019, but then I had a tiny drink in December along with a taste of a couple different wines at a dinner. I NEVER drink (I can’t even tell you the last time…I go years without and then I’ll taste something that’s it). Now I know where this puffiness and belly fat came from and why it’s not budging. I guess it will just take a little time. Thank you for your thorough, calming explanations.

To the effect of what Brad said at 6:30…. I started eating one slice of bread, where normally I would eat two, also, No buns, when I grill a hamburger, I toast a piece bread, cut it in half, and use that as my (Crunchy) Bun Substitute… Tis pretty good.
Anyways, when you finally cut out most refined sugars, fill up instead on Apple’s, and Carrots and such, Hummus, Guac, Eggs, Peanut butter, celery, Quality Meat.
You really start to lose that belly fat!

It is impossible to loose fat from any specific location by targeting that location. When you excersize/move your body converts the fats in your body to glucose and it is pumped all around your body in your blood and is utilized by your muscles when they are being contracted. There is a fantastic book by Ruben Meerman called big fat myths that scientifically debunks the common misconception that most people believe about wieght loss. Even some of the ones you guys are talking about. A basic balanced diet with a calorie intake lower than what you are burning will result in right loss.

Speaking of honest docs on the internet, Dr. Berg used to recommend eating an apple a day. He openly says, “When I said that I was wrong.” It’s even in one of his earlier books and he has said that that book is wrong. I am sure there are others.

I highly recommend a documentary called “fat fiction” released this year, they were talking closely about American died and the diseases related to it and advised Keto died and it made so much sense scientifically and looking at elder generations they didn’t have so many heath problems as we have today, sugar definitely is the number one killer of our health
