  • No way. You can not just reduce weight and not be T2D. I fast 1 day a week and my BS crashes to low 80s to 70s and I have been doing this for 1 year. Now I went from very obese to over weight but It did nothing for my T2D.
    I am Hooked on T2D drugs for life!
    I now only eat 2 meals per day and eat 50 carbs day not 50 carbs per meal but 50 carbs per day. But again it does nothing to eliminate T2D drugs. Now when I go off my 50 carbs per day and add a slice of pie or red meat to a meal for a days my body goes crazy and my BS cranks to 110 to 120 and it takes days to get back to normal BS levels.
    I am Hooked on T2D drugs and I have terminally damaged my body and once damaged there is no going back.
    Prevention is the cure.
    What has to be done is all pre T2D people must be treated like criminals and forced to correct their actions.
    Hooked on T2D drugs for life!

  • I’ve had Vitamix for almost 8 years now and it’s a wonderful machine. Unfortunately, I used it faithfully for the first year, then life happened and I’ve rarely used it since. But, with videos like this, I can easily get more interested. I have the dry mix container and if I can pulverize graham crackers in it for a crust,there’s hundreds of uses, I could use it for. I also have that handy little scraper she used, to get under the blades. I’ve made almond butter too, but just used the wet container with the almonds and added a little bit of oil to get the ground almonds to emulsify. But, it was really hard getting that junk out of the container, since the bottom lid doesn’t come off. But, I’ve used it to make butternut squash soup and it does an awesome job. Let it run for about 6 mins and you really do get hot piping soup! The Vitamix motors are extremely powerful and heat up to get that soup hot and ready to eat. I’ve never put it in a cabinet, so I’m more intended to use it feel guilty not using it! It’s too expensive and useful, not to use..

  • I use turmeric and ginger tea as my smoothie base. It works beautifully and keeps my stomach from cramping up. I also use the Ace blender which works really well and isn’t expensive. I use oat flour and nut butter for protein and I have to use a tablespoon of honey when I put celery in my smoothie because the celery taste is just too strong.

    It’s like saying “smoking is addictive”…if that’s the primary message then people will accept it as the truth….and since it benefits tobacco companies, that’s the message they inculcate.   • It’s been exactly one year since I was diagnosed with T2B. Luckily I came across Dr Jason Fung’s videos on youtube and I can honestly say it completely changed my life. My A1C dropped from 11.3% to 5% after 3 months and to 4.6% after 6 months. Now my A1c is 4.6-4.7% every time. I would say losing all the excess weight, intermittent fasting and of course eating healthier was the key…at least in my case

  • If your PP reading comes just 204 mg/dl, doctor immediately recommends medication which are very dangerous, instead in just 15 days of intermittent fasting and low carb vegaterian diet one can easily reach normal readings but one has to continue this type of lifestyle through out his/her life with walking at least 5-10 Kms per day one can binge on sweet things later on.
    Similarly for acidity, gas and heartburn instead of taking antacids just eat bland diet for 15 days and then eat less spicy food acidity gas and heartburn will not return if you keep this lifestyle.

  • My go to recipe is 1/2 cup of apple juice, half cup of coconut milk, one single serve container of strawberry yogurt, one frozen banana, frozen strawberries and raspberries. Add more liquid if needed.

  • One statement ahead: I am working in drug development and therefore my income depends on the development of new medicines. To all the haters: only productive comments please.
    I looked into intermittent fasting for quite some time and the results are very impressive. One should also add that you have to cut your alcohol consumption to 0 as well.
    The problem with this approach is its beauty at the same time all you need is the action of the patient. Patients, or ideally overweight people with a sugar addiction prior to become diabetic, can control their insulin levels themselves. All it takes is a bit of discipline… but it comes with two problems:
    1) Someone needs to tell them and give instructions. Probably many doctors aren’t aware of the effectiveness and they cannot bill life coaching. Doctors should be paid for keeping people healthy, not prescribing meds… but that’s a different story.
    2) People are super lazy. They just don’t want to get their ass of the couch if there is a pill that does the same. Well, it doesn’t do the same, but they believe that they are all set…

    As for Discipline; I love this Mike Tyson quote:”“Discipline is doing what you hate to do, but nonetheless doing it like you love it.”

  • If you can’t fix the cause then you must treat the symptoms as the temporary solution. Many illnesses need to do this. Reverse of diabetes of one person does not mean the diabetes is reversable. Reducing carbohydrates or sugar is only the method to prevent excess sugar as the result of the illness not for a healthy person. When systems are normal you are supposed digest sugar, that is why you have the function. When you are not able to digest the sugar that is when you have diabetes. That is when something is malfunction. Reducing sugar or fasting does not repair the system. Minimum consumption of sugar is still capable of getting the diabetes. It is simply system malfunction. Many illness comes from malfunctions with unknown causes. High blood pressure is treating the symptoms too. What causes high blood pressure. Not every aging person will have the illness.

  • After a successful 72 hour fast, two days of eating and a full day of fasting yesterday my sugar levels are at 4 this morning no shakes and feeling great. No medication. In the past when I had a 4 with metformin and insulin I had the shakes and binged on sugar to feel right.   • Yes intermittent fasting 16:8, OMAD, light occasional exercise a few days a week(mostly walking) and ketogenic diet under 20 grams of net carbs per day with absolutely no medication or insulin whatsoever brought my A1c down from 10.4 to 5.4 in 3 months during quarantine. I just got my results a few days ago and my doctor was really shocked. She has been trying to get me on some type of medication like metformin or trulicity. I refuse to go down that path, I have change my lifestyle and I will stick to it and remain healthy, every time I need some kind of motivation I think of my kids and how much they need me around.   • Here is a simple way to boost your smoothies or protein drinks. Create a mixture of powders of your choosing. I use: raw cacao, sprirulina, chlorella, moringa, camu camu, and cinnamon. When I make my protein drink, I add a spoonful of my mixture and I get a small amount of each on a regular basis.

  • Recently I started drinking a smoothie with protein powder, frz banana, cocoa nibs and almond milk. i was surprised how full it kept me for so long. Oppose to my fruit heavy smoothies I used to drink. I’m guessing your advise is why. Thanks curly Corrina❤

  • Spinach has a very mild flavor, so I generally use that. I’ve only had kale three times in a smoothie (when I purchased them in a store), but it had SO much mango that it hid the kale pretty well. You can still taste it though.

  • I’m actually drinking something just like that spinach smoothie! mine uses a super greens mix that has baby spinach, baby kale( I’m telling you, try baby kale, it tastes nothing like the usual kale, but has the same health benefits) and baby chard instead of just spinach, with the pineapple and fresh ginger. But I also use parsley in it too, and coconut water, collagen powder and a shot of George’s aloe water. It’s what I actually use to heal my gut after an auto immune reaction from celiac diseasecalms down the inflammation, and helps lessen the symptoms so I recover quicker. Plus it tastes absolutely amazing:)

  • I did this really weird thing once when I heard that stinging nettles (urtica dioica) are actually a superfood (which they are), so I picked some and made a banana-peanut-stinging nettle-ice-milk smoothie and it was actually really good.

  • Hahahahaha… I do understand the aversion to kale, as it can become rather pungent.

    Having worked with kale, professionally, I figured out a few secrets for using it successfully. The kale must be absolutely fresh. Kale does not keep well. To extend the life of kale, clean it as soon as you get it, and after soaking kale in cool/cold water to clean it, leave it damp; do not pat dry or spin your kale before putting it in a container or resealable bags, but there should not be a pool of water in there with it, either, and you must keep it in the refrigerator. If you plan to eat it within a day, you can strip the wet leaves from their thick stems, and store the damp, leafy parts in a bag or container, in the refrigerator. Only prepare kale like this if you plan to eat it within the next day.

    The flavor/pungency can start to turn before this next indicator happens; the definitive tell that the kale is no longer a lovely, bitter green, but a nasty vehicle to vomit-ville, is when the leaves start to get spotty yellow, and sometimes brown, patches or edges. Smell your kale when you buy it, and smell it again before using it. When you see this unfortunate spotting, you will notice a very distinctive, off-putting scent (imagine Pepe Le Pew with a sour stomach) ��. You will notice these things happen very quickly with pre-cut kale bags. I do not recommended eating kale at this point; you will hate kale forever.

    However, if you pair kale with some acidic ingredients, some sweet, and/or some salty, and a little bit of fat, it makes beautiful salads, cooked dishes, and yes, even a beautiful smoothie (keep the kale ratio low, as it is potent).

  • Please help I have a question my father who never was diabetic or at least never seemed diabetic got covid 19 the doctors gave him a type of medication for the covid but it’s not good for diabetics but no one knew he was diabetic he didn’t eat for two weeks as he got worst and lost 60 pounds in that short amount of time as of now he’s on a new medication that’s seems to be working for him and he no longer has covid but he’s so much skinnier now how can the effects be reversed?   • How do you keep your cutting board clean? I never use one because I don’t know if it’s clean or holding onto bacteria. I don’t know if I should be cleaning with soap and water or with a cleaner of some kind. I’ve always been grossed out by cutting boards for this reason but I’m sick of wasting paper plates to cut on!   • I’ve had my Vitamix machine since 2013, but you wouldn’t know it by how clear my jar still is. What’s my secret? Two things:
    1. sometimes throwing lemon or lime rinds in the wash cycle as I clean the jar
    2. Once weekly, filling the jar with water and dropping in a Finish dishwasher tablet (with the red ball in center) to soak overnight or a few hours.

  • Adding juice to smoothies that already has fruit isn’t healthy, Fruits already have sugar in them and juice just adds up that sugar. It’s better to use Milk or water.

  • 3 Tbsp Plain Greek yogurt
    1Tbsp Chia seeds presoaked in hot water for 10 minutes
    Juice of 1 medium lemon
    1 cup watermelon (frozen preferably)
    1 & 1/2 cups water
    2 Tbsp raw honey

    Great weightloss smoothie drink 1 in morning a nd 1 befor bed and it’ll cut cravings and aid in weightloss.

  • I was type 2 diabetes. Medicines made me feel worse. This has been going on for years. Then my pancreas packed in and I take creon with meals and snacks. So as I’m not now producing insulin and my blood glucose was high it was determined I needed insulin. So now I have a flexipen and my blood sugar level has reduced. I fasted or a day and my reading went to a good reading. I’ve only been on insulin for a week. This video is a god send. I might try this a couple of days a week. Monitor myself closely to see what my readings are. Any advice?

  • I am a 10-year diabetes patient. I take 4 slow-released Metformin daily. Blood sugar average 120 every morning before meal. I fast according to Dr. Fung twice a week Mon/Thurs. Only one month, I repeat ONE month. I am metformin free 8 days ago and now my blood sugar is measure at 100 in the morning before meal. I am technically diabetes-free. I suggest that Dr. Fung facility a donation box on his web site allowing us to make some donation to his miracle work. I cure diabetes without spending a penny. Technically speaking, I saved money because I fast:) Dr. Fung rocks!

  • It was good to listen to the guidelines. So the final solution should be fasting? Where can I read about it? ( I have to get insulin 4 times/ day ) Would appreciate yr answer.

  • Cleaning foggy containers I use a plain magic eraser and gently scrub the inside in a circular motion, making sure you don’t hit a blade (ouch!). After each use, thoroughly dry the container with a soft cloth I use a microfiber cloth because it’s so absorbent. You can even clean older containers the same way. It doesn’t make them absolutely like new, but the difference is amazing. Drying them after each use is key.

  • I bought a vita mix and I have had trouble with it after 3 months. It doesn’t blend. It doesn’t make hot soups. I returned it several times. Finally they gave me a refurbished one and that one did not work either. It’s horrible customer service. It took me six months to save up for one and it was not worth it. My nutra bullet was and is a whole lot better.

  • I am fasting I guess you call it intermittent one meal every 24 hours the keto meal, I am a type 2 diabetic and I stopped all my meds ( diabetic ) but I am still running my #;s around 190 in the am and about 170 in the afternoon should i have stayed on my medicine ( diabetic ) most of the diabetic medicines cause weight gain, and I did not want to put my self in a diabetic coma.   • I just saw the control thing of my grandpa, they don’t ever check insuline resistance, they only check, among other things, glucose in blut. I’m sad and angry about thath, for now i just hope thath my grandpa will listen to me in a way to make him healthier. And of course, stop paying for so many medicaments that makes his life more difficult. Thaenk you for sharing this vidoe.

  • Listen to dr srikant gichkar from India who propagated this concept in early 1990. He stressed on the insulin resistance concept and how to treat it as well. The concept of two meal a day diet written in vedas and yogi books centuries back in India……Which is again reviving…….. Thanx to gurus in India……But west pick up incomplete knowledge like yoga ana Ayurveda without it’s completeness and commercialises everything…….Main culprits……They have now come.out with naked yoga…..For them it’s just exercise to stay fit but it’s actually way of.life for us

  • Dr. Fung is absolutely correct about intermittent fasting. As one of my strategies of correcting insulin resistance in my own body I began intermittent fasting. I eat nothing from about 7 PM to noon the next day. It has worked wonders. I am not hungry at all each morning and do not crave breakfast. My A1C is going down.

  • If I fast my blood sugar skyrockets instead, also I have hiatal hernia and I can’t wait more than 3 hours between a snack and another because I’ll feel nauseous and ill puke. I honestly have no idea how to manage all this.

  • You know, when you go to your mom’s, try blending the greens first, with water or your other base, and then add everything else. You’ll get a smoother smoothie, even when using a not so great blender!

  • Just listened to Dr Gregor. Article published 18 September 2019 volume 47. Title: Does a Ketogentic diet help diabetes or make it worse. Dr Gregor says this is very bad because of the Methylglyoxal which is a toxin found in Altzheimers sufferers. Yet you promote this. I would love to hear Dr Fung’s reply to this please. In fact keto is the worst diet for diabetes.

  • Great video! I drink a smoothie every morning for breakfast. I put protein powder and Maca powder in it, as well as cow’s milk, fruit, and veggies.

  • I have my vitamin for few months, I bought it to blend the American ginseng, because the sales lady said no problem. So, I used it to do so when I bring it home. Unfortunately, it scratched the bottom plastic very seriously, some black plastic removed, it’s really not good, it makes me scared to use it for few months.  

    I use it recently for blending a smoothy with normal frozen fruit and water, it stopped with a flashing light. I’ve been tried to re-start it again after an hour, but not success. Even after few days now, still keep flashing, it doesn’t work. What can I do?

  • due to very recent episode of DKA, I am now on TWO types of insulin, and my weight is increasing. I have to, according to my doctor and the network endocrinologist, stay on the insulin until the sugars are under control. From reading Dr Fung’s DIABETES CODE, I know this is not an ideal situation because of the insulinemia. Can fasting and diet (Keto/LC) help me offset the weight gain from the large volume of Insulin i am injecting each day?? Anybody???

  • Use to drink them twice a day: Frozen bananas, soy milk, and PB Fit peanut butter powder. Absolutely delicious and I can make it as thick as I want depending on amount of soy milk. A little cinnamon is nice.

  • I bought mine in 1980 and it is still functioning wonderfully. It is all stainlees steal which makes it heavy. I am battling Arithitis and have trouble handling it. Vitamix is amazing.

  • Uh oh, that’s what went wrong… I didn’t put enough almonds and ya you know the rest. Nut flour! But I added a little coconut oil to get it going and eventually it became butter. I’m sure the oil altered the taste though. Better luck next time I guess!!! ☺️

Also, if you put juice which are from the shelf, won’t they have preservatives and if you buy preservative free juice, won’t it have sugar which are not natural sugars. I initially though of taking protein power with smoothie to help me be healthy but I researched and found their are serious side effects of using protein.

  • I tried to fast but always stop because I get weak, shaky and my heart rate goes up. Same thing happens if I don’t eat consistently through out the day and have a bed time snack. I eat healthy foods. My doc thinks I am prediabetic because of this and told me not to go to long in between meals. What should I do? I don’t want to get diabetes.

  • I received 2 tampers with a Vitamix package containing both wet & dry containers. Are the tampers interchangeable? I’m afraid of using the wrong one, possibly changing ‘the tamper won’t get into your blades’ theory.

  • I use Honey and a tablespoon of Xylitol to add some sweetness to my smoothies. I’m hoping the xylitol will prevent some tooth decay that might come from the acids from the fruit and Orange juice I add in.

  • To help get the last bits of food out of the container, scrape as much as possible with the spatula. Then, place the container back onto the machine and turn it on for a couple of seconds. Much of the food that was stuck on the blades will now be on the sides of the container ready to be scraped out.

  • I used to grind wheat berries for my waffle recipe in my Vitamix. One
    thing I found out the hard way is that some very hard particles survive
    the processing,and can be quite unpleasant to bite into. I started sifting
    the flour after grinding it,which fixed the problem.

  • I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with a MMOL 97 in January. 6 months later it was MMOL 39. I started fasting 16:8 and reduced my carbs and now I am remission. My GP was amazed and couldn’t believe I hadn’t taken my prescription. This really works.

  • His stuff does not work. I tried it. I actually met him as a patient but I was not impressed. He was not talkative at all and I did not learn anything from him. Additionally, keto is not good long term

  • MISTAKES WITH ADVICE IN THIS VIDEO: Do not cut fruit and replace it with artificial sweeteners. Ideally, you would cut the fruit, but to be realistic, just add it. Artificial sweeteners may not spike your blood sugar, but they do still send the chemical signal to your brain so you crave sweet things more frequently. Just use the fruit, because the added fibre will help compensate the sugar so it wont spike ur blood sugar that much. Plus, it’s way cheaper and packed with nutrients.

  • helpful to know about the vitamix not working if you try to cut ingredients, i have been stuck between the explorian vitamix and the pro 750 I just need to know if you can get a smaller container size for the pro 750 because i think it’s to large for me yet the explorian is the perfect size container but i’m not sure about how long the machine will last compared to the pro 750 brushed stainless steel also like that it’s quieter than the explorian. Now a tip for you would be to have talked about the smaller size containers you can get if you don’t want to make the larger size recipes instead of trying to cut them in half. ( if they do have them right, i’m waiting for a reply from vitamix)

  • Best way to clean your Vitamix or any other blender’s jug, is to rinse it quickly and dry it right away after making a smoothie. No hard chemicals needed. So simple and easy ��, but it’s only my opinion.
