  • If I get a recipe I expect the order of instructions to already be somewhat optimized. If I find out in the end that I could have saved time by re-arranging a major part I would blame the author (Ben) and not the person executing (Mike).

  • That is not how you make a biriyani.. Not at all

You cook the chicken under the bed of rice for about 30 to 50 mins..that does not even resembles an authentic Indian biriyani.. The only thing you guys got right was the raita.

The word Biryani is derived from the Persian word Birian, which means ‘fried before cooking’ and Birinj, the Persian word for rice. There are various theories related to the origin of this scrumptious dish.

  • Seriously, this isn’t anything about Chicken Brayani! As a trained Chef in Asian Cuisine, I personally find it as an insult. If you want to cook, cook it right (ingredients and method) and take all the time to make it perfect. Never rush in cooking process.

Add curry powder into food doesn’t make it as Indian cuisine.

  • The worst feeling is you knowing that your partner is cheating on you but you don’t have any evidence against him/her; this was the feeling I battled with for like 4 months. I tried using lot of apps but they never worked perfectly. It was until I saw a referral on here about (cybertechhub100 at gmail dot com) that was how I was saved. He gave me access to my wife whatsapp, facebook account, instagram and gmail account without her notice and that was how I got all the evidence needed to confront her: she couldn’t deny it. I had to file for a divorce, who else would want to stay with a cheat. I’m happy for this great help, if you need similar help don’t hesitate to reach out. • OMG Washing up is not a race.
Bowls needs proper washing and rinsing. So unhygienic and being British or chef should be as an excuse for not doing something properly.

  • Tip I learned from a chef years ago, always point the handle away from you so you remember it’s hot, or drape oven gloves or a tea towel over the handle.

  • Loving all the poo in the lou street shitters criticizing their civilized European superiors.. Let me know when your country cracks the whole running water/sewage and disease (cholera/giardia/typhus/etc..) thing. Not even with all the help/welfare given to you could you figure out something that my people had known since the dark ages. Don’t shit everywhere.

Then wash your hands and don’t wipe your ass with your bare hand.

  • For people who are freaking out about the hand washing in the soapy water without rinsing, it’s extended contact with the soapy water that actually kills bacteria (lyses the cell membrane of the bacteria) not the rinsing or scrubbing, so it should be fine, and then he wiped off on his chef-y towel. He can do that several times while cooking, and then do a thorough wash and rinse later. I’m Canadian, btw. And I wash dishes by scrubbing them all with a brush, and then quickly rinsing them off and setting them in a rack to dry. I have a double sink, but I do all that in just one side (and have the dry rack in the other). The UK way doesn’t bother me, as long as there is enough soap in the soapy water, it should kill all the bacteria too.

  • PSA for Confused Comment Crew: You do not need to rinse your dishes. Using hot water and the recommend amount of detergent, it evaporates away leaving no taste or harmful residue. Dish-washing detergents are formulated with food safety in mind, there IS NO NEED TO RINSE!

  • I’ve accidentally grabbed a hot handle bare handed before, it sucks, but if you put mint extract on a burn asap it helps enormously.

  • @ 7:46 haha gave me a good laugh.:D the mistake everyone makes from time to time, another useful kitchen hack is always have a tea towel in your pocket and always assume everything in a kitchen is hot! best part of having an intern it always happens with the same reaction mike had “OMG WHAT JUST HAPPEND IT WAS HOT!”
also keep up the mostly enjoyable content, good recipe part cringe some laughter splash of professionalism handful of normies top of with some ridiculous kitchen gadets and voilá

  • A South African of Indian decent (about 4 generations ago) the one thing that we still know how to make, is Briyani, and what you’ve made, doesn’t not count. Stock? Mushrooms? Chicken put in after?

  • Mike sorry for the burn!! I can see me doing that same thing!! I think the handles needs something to turn red when hot? Now that’s a gadget!!

  • To all the people asking why Ben washed the dishes the way he did:

Its a fake sink. The faucet is fake and the drain is fake. If he dumps water down that drain they’ll get water all over the floor. This happened in one of their videos when Jamie accidentally poured water down the sink (Ben’s reaction is hilarious). https://youtu.be/lvo-spBGBRs at 10:15

I guess he did it to prove a point that since you have saved so much time with planning ahead of your cooking you can wash up.

I imagine they have a real sink somewhere in the studio and those dishes he “washed” will be properly scrubbed and rinsed and dried after the videoshoot.

  • you can still use a cast iron pan if you have it heating up on a hob while you make what goes in the oven. By the time it goes in the oven the pan should be ready for the chicken, so move it to a front burner and go for it.

  • Why on earth would you ever use an oven to make biriyani.?

You cloud cool it faster without it, and it would be more authentic.

    Edit:
Also, biriyani is a One pot dish..
I know this is supposed to be a hack.
But why would you do all that when you could make an authentic biriyani almost at the same pace

  • I think the biggest thing you left out although showed it is food prep. Have your stuff ready to go. Once cooking starts you don’t want to go rummage around the pantry to find that garlic powder or some other ingredient. Go to a Dollar Store (or whatever equivalent your country has) and buy yourself a whole lot of small bowls. Prep your ingredients into those bowls ready to go (most people have a dishwasher, so the extra dishes are not much of a problem). This not only saves you time but also allows you to cook and not run for ingredients while something is burning or boiling over.
Tip: leave a towel or something over the handle when it’s just out of the oven. I’ve burned my hand several times before I started leaving a folded towel over the handle that will remind you that it’s hot and avoid burning your hand. Of course, you could just get used to always handle any handle with a towel and be good, but chances are nobody in a home kitchen does that.

  • A few years late, but cleaning really hot non-stick pans is a bad idea. It’s really hard on the non-stick, and will wear it out quicker.

  • If I get a recipe I expect the order of instructions to already be somewhat optimized. If I find out in the end that I could have saved time by re-arranging a major part I would blame the author (Ben) and not the person executing (Mike).

  • That is not how you make a biriyani.. Not at all

You cook the chicken under the bed of rice for about 30 to 50 mins..that does not even resembles an authentic Indian biriyani.. The only thing you guys got right was the raita.
