This inspired me to share with you some picnic packing tips and a quick & easy recipe for refreshing fruit-infused water. The best way to take advantage of the beautiful summer days, is to spend more time outside – whether that’s a hike, a beach trip or just a family cookout. And of course, don’t forget about the food.

Today, I thought I’d share a few picnic ideas along with tips for packing a lovely and functional picnic basket. This post is loaded with suggestions for packing the essentials, choosing picnic foods, and adding a few special touches so you’ll be ready for a picnic at a moment’s notice. Remember food safety: Make sure food has completely cooled before packing it up in containers. And don’t eat anything that has been left out in warm weather for longer than two hours, no matter how good it looks.

2. Pack foods in sealable containers to avoid spills and basket messes. This picnic items list is just what I normally do, but it can of course be tailored depending on your location and style. A good picnic packing list takes a little bit of preparation to throw together, but it’s so worth it! If you know what to bring to a picnic, you can transform your time from a half hour stop to a really fun multi-hour long. Use cool bags or an icebox -picnic hampers look lovely but often are heavy to carry whereas a coolbox/bags will keep food at the correct temperature to help avoid any risk of food poisoning.

Put small bottles of water, juice in the freezer for a few hours before the picnic if you have time. Set your tops aside. Add condiments to the rolls if you want any. Put on the fillings of your choosing.

Put the top layer onto the bottom half and cut the sandwiches apart on their natural edges. Then slide the sheet of sandwiches back into the package the rolls came in. Once you get to your picnic, just pull out what you need. Packing can seem like it’s pretty easy to do and something that only requires a box and things to put in it.
