  • He makes some good points, but I want to say that if someone has a good metabolism, there is nothing wrong with eating 200-300 grams of carbs per day if it’s low in fructose.
He says all carbs break down into sugar. But sugar rarely means glucose, it is usually referred to combination of glucose and fructose. Once your metabolism is damaged by fructose, you can’t metabolize carbohydrate well and needs to go on the low carb diet.

So I can’t see how a healthy person can’t handle real food carbohydrate that is low in simple sugar.

  • With your guidance, DB, I cut/majorly curbed carbs about 4 years ago. It was HARD for the first 2 weeks or so, but after that, it got easier and easier. I no longer crave them like I used to; most carbs kinda gross me out. But, I must admit, I do give into ice cream cravings about once a season. The full-fat yogurt with berries and seeds exemplified in this video looks delish will incorporate. Thanks, DB!

  • it’s strange that diet advice and even politics seem to be treated as religion today. Evidence that opposes a point of view is vilified. This is a very good talk with evidence and recognition of other points of view and approaches.

  • Excuse me but why is the palm oil necessary? I’ve always only eaten nut butter that’s the nut and salt. That would seem to provide plenty of fat in itself. The other problem I have with palm oil is that it is responsible in part for the destruction of the habitat of the orangutan. They are cutting down trees and clearing forests in order to growPalm trees to produce palm oil. Please re-think your position on this and perhaps do a video on it if you agree with me. Thank you.

  • Thanks Dr. Becky! Love seeing my carbs dropping below 100g/day. I can’t even meet my caloric limit whilst counting carbs. Seven or eight almonds sure packs a whollop of feeling full for quite a while. A pork chop and green salad for supper fills me up very quickly. You are a blessing.

  • The diagram at 29.44, is it dotted to mean this route is closed in this example? I am having trouble understanding the spoken explanation of the diagram.

  • All but one ingredient, eggs, are very expensive or rarely available (including avocado.) So I want to know how long I would have to be on keto diet to reset my body’s ability to burn fat? And if anyone really wanted to help, rather than promote their books, they would also add meal suggestions with portion sizes, because you CAN get fat on keto diet: it is still to do with the number of net calories you consume whatever diet you are on. Any diet, even vegan one, allow you to eat too much. (For example, my friend is vegan but he was overweight because of snacking on too of raw nuts and nut butters.)

  • Really good talk with gems of information towards the end. Not staying to the end, which is understandable given the 1+ hour length, probably explains the lack of comments. Glad I found this talk.

  • I really like the content. I respectfully recommend that you avoid the term ” long and lean”. It is about as unscientific as is imaginable. You see why. The length has nothing to do with anything. I know the reaction be: oh please; nit picking but we probably need to keep it as nonprimitive as possible. Common speak is better for most but if we were most we would be; well; obese.

  • Yes I asked my Chinese restaurant what they use for oil in preparing there food dishes. The waitress said Vegetable oil, of course I must of looked disappointed I know I wasn’t happy. Being on Keto knowing that stuff is man made garbage. She looks at me & says ” That’s good Ok “? Of course I didn’t go into details cause of the language difference.

  • These questions mirror my own life experience. I am 80, overweight and diabetic. But when I was a young boy of 8-10 years old I only knew one person who was diabetic, my Grandmother’s sister and she was quite large. Other than that I never heard about diabetes. I don’t remember seeing many fat people either. Fat people stood out and kids would stop and stare at them. All the kids in my neighborhood (and there were a lot of us) were normal weight and I was one of the skinny kids. When I rode the school bus going to highschool I don’t remember one fat kid. That was then and this is now. What a difference.

  • I just wish I could eat and not worry!!! But that’s not my goal now is it! Health and weight loss are my goals! Besides I did eat without worry and sheesh! Exploded!

  • I dont class it as low carb but as normal carb, because the SAD diet or the diet that most westerners eat is in fact a high carb diet and not our normal diet

  • A bit lengthy but very good content and delivery. This was posted years ago and not even 3,000 views? Only 4 comments? Very surprised.

  • I know this works for most, but as with any way of eating many don’t stick with it as it gets too restricting to do for “x” amount of time IMO.

  • This would be why when foreign exchange students come to America for a year and gain weight and then when they return home, they lose the weight. Very interesting!!!

  • Will your body burn fat on a low carb diet or do you we have to be in ketosis for our body to use fat as a fuel rather than glucose? If our body will burn fat on a low carb diet, how low do the carbs have to be each day in order to burn fat rather than glucose?

  • This guy is a total bullshit artist. He’s a slick self promoting Con artist and he’s making tons of money for himself because people are ignorant and uneducated. Don’t send one dime to this clown.

  • The problem isn’t that fat was taken out of food and that sugar was put in.
The problem is that the foods were created in the first place. Processed foods are the problem. Not sugar.
Why are processed foods the problem? They can be engineered to be addictive and lead to episodes of binge eating.
    Sugar is a red herring.
Food companies will simply start making higher fat, low sugar foods. People will not change how much they eat. They will continue to gain weight. And the cycle will repeat.

  • Can you tell me what the upper limit of carbohydrates per day constitutes a low carb diet? I am normally on a keto diet with an upper limit of 40 grams of carbs, but there are some days particularly when I’m eating out that this can be difficult. However, on these days I would still prefer to be a least within the low carb range. Thank You.

  • 47:30 Of course autism existed before someone thought to name it, just like Pluto (the dwarf planet) existed before 1930. If you read about his habits, Henry Cavendish was clearly autistic, but lived before anyone bothered to write diagnostic criteria. The myth of the “changeling child” seems to be based on autistic children, when people were superstitious enough to believe in fairies stealing children. When you say silly things like that autism came into existence when the diagnostic criteria were written, you make me doubt the accuracy of the rest of your talk, even though I’m inclined to believe in low-carb.

  • Wow!!! This truly is so in ur face!!! Love this. I have been living low carb fir a few years. Doing great but my family s resisting. Many r over weight & dealing w auto-immune issues. I am sharing this!!! Thx Dr. Becky!!!!

  • Really good talk with gems of information towards the end. Not staying to the end, which is understandable given the 1+ hour length, probably explains the lack of comments. Glad I found this talk.

  • Dr. Becky. I am a vegetarian and I do not like eggs. I also am not a big salad person. I like watching your videos and undetstand the benefits of a low carb diet. Have managed to cut my carbs down to an average of 100 to 120 gms carbs a day. The weight loss has been slow and that is expected! Thank you for posting the videos!

  • Brilliant speech, but your “creation vs. evolution” phraseology is so… ood. Vegetarian choices for meals may be found on the net, maybe this is a good source: https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/low-carb-vegetarian-meals/

  • Hunger control is based on protein, not fiber. Eating enough protein is the MAIN concern with keto. Fat and carbs are limits, just like calories. Protein is a GOAL.

  • I must say as a Health coach here in nyc AND I AM NOT A LOW CARBER WHATSOEVER, this may be the best talk I ever heard on the true cause of obesity! I have been teaching this for years…He almost got it right! He was so close…When Dr Eades spoke about the sororities and Frats and people in general pre 1960 and had the wonderful old pics to prove it he mentions they were not low carbers! and this is TRUTH!! Its not necessary at all to cut carbohydrate intake! Just raise your sat. fat and watch the inflammatory oils-the Polyunsaturated fats! This is the secret! Fats and carbs combine beautifully for health energy and fat loss fitness etc… BRAVO DR. FANTASTIC TALK!!!!

  • Wow. I have just started on a low carb diet for my diabetes. Thank you for this helpful information. I need all the help I can get.

  • Berries instead of apples in the salad are better. HWC whipped w/cinnamon buttered pecans & sf sweetener added is a lower carb dessert than the yogart. Thanks for the info. New sub.

  • This is very good. Most of us have a app to log in our calories. We forget that it’s WHAT you eat stacks up against you. Please keep these coming. Its not apples to apples but the pit falls (carbs) that slows down progress.

  • Thanks for this info, I watched all 4 videos and it all makes sense to me. I have to admit that I was a sucker for those 2 myths you mentioned but since finishing all the videos I now know what to do. I need to ” choose” and Im ready! Its been such a long road for me to get where I need to be..Thanks

  • Newly subscribed to your channel. I am 65 & moderately active & having a very difficult time loosing the last few pounds on WW ( Wellness Win) formally weight watchers. Thank you for sharing your experience & advice. I am definitely going to add low carb planning in my food selection.

  • Thanks for your channel Dr. Becky, you look beautiful!! My goal is to look as young as you. I’m 54 and rapidly developed digenerative disc disease after alot of hard working out from age 47 51. I lost alot of weight but gained 40 lbs. Over the last few yrs. Because of the pain it’s hard to exercise. I wish someone would’ve told me what a risk it was to workout like that at my age. Anyway, thank you! I’m hoping I can drop the weight with your protocol. The bread was easier to divorce than those darned mashed potatoes and oatmeal! But I’m doing it, just seeing the way you look is a motivator!

  • Thank you! I LOVE avocado, but I get really bad stomache aches, the last time I ate one, I got really bad stomache ache, I could not even walk or stand up for hours…

  • Please show more avocado substitutes. I’m tired of seeing them, like as if it’s the only food available on the planet. From where I come from it can be rediculously expensive (10 USD to 20 USD per kg) because they’re imported literally half a world away.

  • There is an emerging issue about avocados. Due to their popularity, criminal gangs in Mexico are committing atrocities to provide them. The situation is similar to producing blood diamonds. How can we ensure we are not eating narco avocados?

  • The sausage and sauerkraut, is that not a high amount of sodium (1721.9 mg) for a meal? Especially, since we should be staying around 2000mg of sodium total per day or less. Also, doesn’t sodium retain water?

  • I’ve heard conflicting things about chia, that it’s estrogenic and to avoid (?). My belly has GOT to go. I think eggs, cheeses, and avocado exacerbate my heartburn and bloating.

  • Wow! This is amazing! I’m experimenting with stearic acid saturated fat diet, and I’m finally losing some weight. I don’t have a lot to lose, but my Dad was obese and died of a heart attack in front of me, devastating. I am turning 50 this year and am trying hard to get healthy. Thank you for your videos.

  • Thank you so much for sharing. When you travel a lot Avocados are not always available so it is great to know what substitutes one can look out for.

  • You are missing the increase in vaccinations, which modify not just the immune system but the metabolic and endocrine system, too.

  • Palm oil is really bad for the environment, how could recommend that? Also other brands of nut butter that I use has the nuts and some sea salt no oil is added!

  • Wow! This was REALLY beneficial, not because I don’t like avocados I love them, and eat a half one every day in my salad. But it’s super great to get some more ideas,by comparison… things to try. You have great poise. Something not many YouTubers have. It makes a BIG difference! Short and sweet is always better for this viewer, too!

  • I sincerely admire your attitude towards to human health and well-being. in addition, your  presentation is well-documented and  intelligently demonstrated.

  • So WHAT HAPPENED? What I think happened is that during 7th grade, in 1961, two things happened at my middle school. Suddenly, besides the pint whole milk machine, they put in a Coca Cola machine, and a machine that for 15 cents would spit out a pack of Oreos or a pack of Hostess Twinkies. I loved that so much, I gained 30 pounds which freaked out my mom who took me to the doctor who prescribed mountains of dexedrine for me. The rest was history.

  • avocados taste like a$$, even the “sweet” ones have a bitter aftertaste that i just cant stand…
i actually wonder if not all people can really taste them because ive asked others how they can stand the bitter aftertaste and most look at me like “what bitter aftertaste”…

  • Doc, this question is for a previous video you posted about berberine. I was wondering if a type 2 diabetic person can supplement metformine with berberine? Thanks so much for informing us with powerful knowledge in your videos!

  • One could replace the yogurt with a 1/2 can of coconut milk (found in the baking aisle.) Whip this up with the berries and Chia seeds, maybe a few drops of liquid stevia, chill, makes a great dessert.

  • avocados taste like a$$, even the “sweet” ones have a bitter aftertaste that i just cant stand…
i actually wonder if not all people can really taste them because ive asked others how they can stand the bitter aftertaste and most look at me like “what bitter aftertaste”…

  • Thanks, I LOVE avocado but am allergic to them… it’s hard because I keep trying to eat them and tell myself just a little won’t hurt and I feel awful for several days after. So sad

  • Avocadoes are cool. The only drawback is that they are a lil expensive or as I say, muy expensivo. They taste fine to me…cool and creamy smooth. I only really eat them bc they are good for me though. I do make a mean dip with them too. I just add a guacamole mix and I create a killer dip. Oh, the other issue i have w/ them is that they go bad. You have to time them properly so i buy them at various ripeness levels. I am a smart shopper, but i sometimes forget ab them. No one is perfekt. Btw, excellent delivery here. You are good at what you do…one of the best.

  • This is exactly how I lost my final 30 pounds to reach normal (not over or obese) weight 2 years ago and keep it off. We are so fortunate in our day and age to have so many food options available, making the lowest carb choice is simple, tho sometimes not easy, haha.

  • When I heard that we ate 20% MORE calories in the UK in the 1960s 70s than today I knew something was seriously wrong. Then I remembered, nobody ate between meals and dinner was between 5 and 6pm, VERY few people ate breakfast, people hardly ever ate out and everything was done with butter and lard, lashings of it and all stodgy, filling grub too, deep fried, roasted and without a thought of “low fat”. Not saying it was perfect but hardly anybody was fat and if they were they were greedy as hell.

  • At 37:54 I have to disagree and question this model. Obese people have high levels of Fat in their circulation too as their adipocites are overfilled, yet by definition they are not burning of this excess fat as energy on the count of being obese. So why would French fries cooked in sat fat have a different effect physiologically because being obese means you are not burning excess as energy regardless of what you Have just eaten. And the example at 40:10 is also flawed because to compare like for like they needed French fries cooked in sat fat as the comparator to French fries cooked in vegetable oil, not mashed potatoes in milk and butter

  • It should be mentioned that in the 1940s and 50s, breakfast was eggs and meat: bacon and eggs, ham and eggs, steak and eggs, or pork chops and eggs. Anyone remember the Dr. Seuss book ‘Green Eggs and Ham’? The toast was used to soak up the egg yolk and the delicious fat from the plate, so nothing was wasted.

  • When it becomes repeatable by anyone doing the testing it’s science even if government employees and fraud barking schmucks who profit
from their combined fraud say pot’s like heroin and you’re better off with a meth needle hanging out of your arm.

When government employees are feeding academics and academics are feeding government employees that’s called

    government employees

    working together

defrauding you and lying to you

and you can see how little they care if they kill you.

  • Hi from Greece,
Thank you so much, it’s nice to have a variety to eat. Hugs from Greece.( In Greece two of the most delicious feta are ipiros and dodonis, brand names:) )

  • Yogurt will never replace vanilla ice cream for a sweet treat or dessert. This will discourage alot of people. It’s perfectly possible to make your own Keto Ice Cream using a non-caloric sweetener that works best for you and it will truly and drastically reduce the number of carbs and increase the fats (which is what you want in Keto because fats are what you need to create Ketones and create the feeling of satiety). I understand that alot of people want convenience foods, but that’s just not going to serve you well if you want to succeed on Keto. The Food Industry doesn’t get it. And I see no signs of them ever understanding the value of Keto. It’s best to wean yourself off of that asap. Learn to make homemade ice cream. It’s not as hard as you think and you’ll be rewarded by success.

If you want the good gut enzymes that yogurt promises, get some kefir. It’s a more complete collection of enzymes that will help your gut recover from carb addiction and help you digest the fats. An 8oz. glass with lunch or dinner will serve you much better than yogurt.

  • Total beginner here! Thanks for the tips your website is so great for more tips and recipes. Watching from Christchurch, New Zealand

  • Question…my dr said to reduce protein due to kidney function. I read that belly fat can be due to low protein. I tried vegetable and plant based diet but not enough energy. I have been battling food all my life…losing weight, regaining, lose, regain. Protein works for me, always has, but now I need to use caution. It seems that I cant eat at all…no food is good for me. Suggestions? I should add that I want less sodium too.

  • YES. EATING LESS DOES HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT AND HE IS LYING.
    DO NOT BELIEVE HIS LIES.
If you are gaining weight and following his method, just stop and do it the opposite way because you are not the right genetic composition to follow his stupid “every-body-is-exactly-the-same” eat more lose more weight bullshit.

Sorry not sorry, but you’re an absolute liar! I don’t see this math!
You and every other muscleheaded freak out there who think every body type is the same and every genetic composition is the same…And you don’t even go into this! You don’t TELL these people that petite women need to eat less and should consume less calories and sugar than taller women.
I’ve been eating less calories and working out more and have lost more bodyfat in the past four months than I had EVER done by following your bullshit EAT MORE LOSE MORE method. I always gain weight and I’m not eating unhealthy foods! I’m just consuming MORE calories, you see. Yet what’s this? I’m gaining weight? And I’m not a bodybuilder? Wow. Now you’re probably going to bullshit me with every personal-trainer’s water-weight crap, yeah?
I don’t care if you think it’s HEALTHY or not, the way that you show me to lose weight does NOT WORK FOR ME. Do you understand? I want to LOSE weight, I don’t want to MAINTAIN, you feckless liar.

No! HOMEOSTASIS IS NOT EATING MORE TO LOSE MORE WEIGHT! THAT WILL THROW YOUR BODY OUT OF WHACK! THAT WILL CAUSE YOU TO GAIN MORE WEIGHT!
You bastards are the ones who tell us we’re ugly and terrible for being fat in the first place, tell us a bunch of lies and expect us to gobble your bullshit up. I know that my gym guys lied to me about lifting so that I would have to keep coming back and asking for more help. I know it. I don’t trust them. So now I just go to the gym and ignore the muscle-diseased idiots.

NO! SCIENCE DOES NOT CONFIRM YOUR LIE! ITS JUST A BUNCH OF PEOPLE REPEATING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER BECAUSE ONE PERSON WITH CREDIBILITY SAID IT! I HAVE NEVER BEEN SHOWN THIS SCIENCE NOR HAVE I EVER BEEN INTRODUCED TO IT AS BEING A SCIENTIFIC FACT! And everyone I’VE ever talked to has said that when they eat more they have a harder time losing weight. IT’s just fucking natural you goddamned idiot.

    More =/= Less.
OH I don’t have to count calories when I’m eating more and losing more? Oh is that so? Really? Really now? You people are the reason for the obesity epidemic. You people caused it, opened gyms, shoved people in them and told them a lot of bullshit lies in order to keep them coming to your gym and paying your electricity bill.

Eat more lose more does NOT work for someone like me, with a petite bodytype. I simply gain weight, and it becomes a lot harder to burn more than I consume.
I can see how you would have to go LONGER in order to reach that caloric-intake/cardio-output place if you ate more…
It goes against everything nutritionists think and speak about… Why do you think you muscle-locked jock cocks are any more qualified than a nutritionist?

More =/= Less. The two are not the same thing. If you consume more you will gain more. If you fast more you will lose more.
    Trust me.
I’ve been on a 500 cal diet for the past four months and have lost close to 40 lbs.

The other day my doctor told me that what I was doing was dangerous blah blah blah even though my blood tests came back fine because I’ve been taking care of myself by consuming wholesome foods that give me energy throughout the day…
Bullshit what I am doing is unhealthy. But he notified my mother and now I am on a calorie upping schedule mandated by my mother who is a control freak if she has to come over and watch her 27 year old daughter eat in her house to make sure she had eaten I HAVE BEEN EATING EVERY DAY! IM NOT STARVING MYSELF!

I’m tired of you people constantly flip-flopping back and forth between eat less/eat more = lose more. Stop it!

I have started to gain weight back, even though my exercise routine has not changed. I don’t like it, and guess why my doctor did this: because he’s a musclehead and I was telling him I hit a plateau he asked me about my calories and that was that. He flipped his tits and started berating me for losing weight that way even though it was the way that worked for me, and any other way is unfavorable for my body.

Also, it fucking pisses me off when you guys say you want to gain weight stop that. Say you want to gain muscle you make every fat person at the gym feel worse about themselves when you talk about your “WEIGHT GAINS” out loud in front of them.

  • Wow!!! This truly is so in ur face!!! Love this. I have been living low carb fir a few years. Doing great but my family s resisting. Many r over weight & dealing w auto-immune issues. I am sharing this!!! Thx Dr. Becky!!!!

  • Please show more avocado substitutes. I’m tired of seeing them, like as if it’s the only food available on the planet. From where I come from it can be rediculously expensive (10 USD to 20 USD per kg) because they’re imported literally half a world away.

  • The only thing i dont understand is why these diets arent the standard World wide with all the science backing it up. Instead we are still told to avoid fat (thus eat more carbs) salt etc…. wake up World!

  • Fantastic presentation! Gives a great introduction to how to use food to change your life for the better. Should be watched by everyone on the planet.

  • I was curious! But I do loooove avocados! Nuts are too easy to overeat. I had one handful of walnuts last night and then 3 more:(

  • Thanks for great tipps! I can‘t stand avocado, but I love nuts, olives and pesto. Btw, you are the only lowcarb coach on yt who mentioned pesto! ♥️

  • Doctor Brukner, you really are a brilliant speaker and well worth an ear. I’ve been keto for decades but could listen to you for hours.. Thank you.

  • Half the carbohydrate in coca cola, honey, and table sugar isn’t “just glucose”; it’s fructose, which goes straight to liver and gives you NAFLD.

  • While I totally agree that LA consumption (high omega 6 to omega 3) is bad juju there are so many other reasons behind obesity besides an increase in carbohydrates. Processed food in the westernized diet as well as hyperpalatability are a few examples. Case in point, many people think of foods like donuts, pizza, and other pastries as “carbs” when in fact they are made of more fats than carbs (this is why we call them fat cakes in the military). But… I think in general we are getting too much fuel substrate (carb + protein) that we mess with biological processes such as the Randal Cycle. CICO is total crap, in the end we need a diet that is individualized, satiates, and balances hormones such as insulin, leptin, ghrelin, as well as neurotransmitters and sex hormones. Do that, and you have a thriving human free from disease.

  • Berries instead of apples in the salad are better. HWC whipped w/cinnamon buttered pecans & sf sweetener added is a lower carb dessert than the yogart. Thanks for the info. New sub.

  • Hi where do total calories come in to play with regard to weight loss? I am hearing your low-carb, counting carbs and sticking to below 100 grams per day, and that makes sense. When you are in a weight-loss mode, should you also be sticking to low calorie?

  • Have you seen the new Zero carb. Bread sold at my Costco. The bread is made by FRANZ and has 12 carbs. And 12 grams fiber = o carbs. It has been reviewed on YouTube, I was wondering what your opinion is on this.

  • We have been told just the opposite. I read that Alpha Linoleic acid was good for Gluconeogenesis.  Now I will avoid it.  I just started a version of the carnivore diet that allows for a little bit of greens in order to reset my system and eliminate most things that I can reintroduce one at a time and see what causes me issues. I think I will greatly limit chicken which I have never gravitated to. I am one of those people who craves red meat every day and I do well on it as a type O blood type. I do think there is something to blood type and diet.

  • I lost over 50 lbs in 6 months..quit pop, energy drinks, sugar (as best as we can since its in everything lol) and went on healthy fat 1 big meal a day. Big sald with cruciferous veg, avocado and hemp seeds. Then have a medium rare steak drizzled with olive oil with basted eggs over top. Friends cant get over how much weight ive lost. I work construction as well, so im on the go all day and am still not hungry until 4 or 5pm. Plus all the money im saving eating 1 meal a day

  • No Avocado at all would be better. They need a HUUUUGE amount of water to grow. And they are being grown in Country”s with the biggest water shortage. But they sell for big money and the drought is devastating to the people.:-(

  • FINALLY! I’ve REALLY tried to figure a way to like avocados, but just can’t do it. You’re the first one I’ve found to give alternatives. THANK YOU!

  • I’ve heard conflicting things about chia, that it’s estrogenic and to avoid (?). My belly has GOT to go. I think eggs, cheeses, and avocado exacerbate my heartburn and bloating.

  • The food industry makes us ill, and the pharmaceutical industry medicate us. I have slashed carbs, lost 42 LBS in weight, and reversed T2 diabetes. I am waiting for a scan, that will show if I still have Non Alcohol Fatty Liver disease.

  • Dr. Brukner’s revelation about the lies fed populations is eloquent, truth smooth as butter. I loved this interesting rundown. Thanks.

  • Near the end, when Dr/ Eades talks about wilted salad, aka wilted greens, it does not just have to be bacon. Our family has used chicken and drippings from chicken to wilt salad greens far more often than bacon. Beef is another excellent choice. Along with bits of the meat, and maybe a few nuts, or crumbled cheese, a salad wilted in animal fat is a delicious meat. It fits the paleo and lchf, and keto diets.

Without the cheese for paleo, maybe… though there is evidence that early humans killed the ‘fat and sassy’ adult animalswhich were often lactating females and enjoyed the udder and milk. Raw milk, or naturally cultured, of course; not highly processed like the milk in supermarkets, with all the vitamins including Vit C, D, K, A, and the beneficial enzymes and probiotics intact. The casein was unaltered by processing, and it was the A2 type casein, not the mutated A1 casein found in most all commercial milk.

  • INCOMPLETE NOTES, BUT IMPORTANT TO WATCH STARTING AT 33:50 “…and this is the crux of this whole thing…” Fascinating and NECESSARY to understand… “and if you divide those out you come up with 0.48 and that’s an important ratio because that’s saturated fat and that’s highly generative of reverse electron transport. Remember FADH’s all come about from electron transport. Don’t have to make a double bond. a couple of enzymes who twist it around after running all FN ratio 0.45. Just showing that oleic acide 0.46, linoleic acid 0.43

  • Hardest thing for me, being new to avocados, is getting an assembly line of ripe ones. So I’m not waiting forever for ripe ones and not throwing out over ripe ones when too many ripen at once.

  • I don’t understand why so many speakers don’t have the common courtesy to refrain from these mouth sucking, lip smacking oral eminations. Once or twice in an hour’s speech can be forgiven, but that’s about it.

  • Can anyone please tell us how to eat the damn avocado? How do people eat it??? Why is everything a mystery when it comes to avocado? Is Avacado illegal on youtube? mysterious avocados! Thank you for the subsutitues. I don’t use palm oil but rest is fine.

  • Brilliant presentation, but why is so few doctors on board? Guidelines have to change, low fat has died, but it is still kept a secret! Why? Popping pills is expensive for our health service, growing cereals, sugar and producing toxic “food” making us sick is crazy. Who sits in government delaying the changes of guidelines? Maybe we need to see how many politicians are farmers or have declared interest in pharmaceuticals.

  • When you focus on obesity rather than insulin, you stigmatize people with obesity. Thin people also are insulin resistant. And obesity is also caused by stress hormones, hypothyroidism, and chronic inflammation (which can be caused by many many non-dietary sources).

  • If ye love me, keep my commandments.
    John 14:15 KJV
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
    Exodus 20:8‭-‬9 KJV

Saturday is the day of the Lord

The claim that Christ by his death abolished his Father’s law, is without foundation. Had it been possible for the law to be changed or set aside, then Christ need not have died to save man from the penalty of sin. The death of Christ, so far from abolishing the law, proves that it is immutable. The Son of God came to “magnify the law, and make it honorable.” [Isaiah 42:21.] He said, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law;” “till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in nowise pass from the law.” [Matthew 5:17, 18.] And concerning himself he declares, “I delight to do thy will, O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.” [Psalm 40:8.] GC88 466.3

    Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

  • The sausage and sauerkraut, is that not a high amount of sodium (1721.9 mg) for a meal? Especially, since we should be staying around 2000mg of sodium total per day or less. Also, doesn’t sodium retain water?

  • I love avocados, but they are not local to where I live, which makes them extremely expensive. They’re practically a luxury item. Thanks for this video.

Thank You.

  • Hi, dr Gillapsy, I am a cardiologist living in Turkey.I am interested in intermittant fasting I want to ask a question: if we fast for ex 20 hours we have 4 hours for feeding. Its too short time for getting enough calories, so isnt IF similar to caloric reduction diets?so IF will also result in decreasing total energy expenditure and slowing metabolism?

  • Nice lecture but I think there is an immense different between “sugar” and glucose fructose. Glucose can be metabolized by the body in a healthy person. Fructose actively makes people sick.

  • 2 months ago I started a “diet” I weighed 417lbs. High blood sugars, gallbladder issues, joint pain, etc. Stayed on keto for a week then found your site. Today I weighed. Down to 355. 62 lbs gone in 2 months. Added intermittent fasting 30 days ago. I am never hungry, cravings (except a diet Pepsi) have gone, body feels so much better. I’m not racing to meet a goal. It’s become a lifestyle. I look at eliminating sugar, flours, processed foods etc as I’m no longer putting poisons in my body. I want to thank you for helping me. I’m no longer on a “diet.” I’ve chosen a new lifestyle. I may face criticisms from some. Its only been 2 months, only a matter of time before you go back. I’ve been on Atkins several times and have gained the weight back, always. I believe the secret is the big salads for lunch everyday. I fast from 6 pm to the next day at noon. Big salad, either small dinner or a piece of cheese and a few walnut half’s. So for this old fat lady you’ve been a life saver. Again thank you. PS have not had a diet Pepsi. Maybe for my birthday in May.

  • Hunger control is based on protein, not fiber. Eating enough protein is the MAIN concern with keto. Fat and carbs are limits, just like calories. Protein is a GOAL.

  • This is exactly how I lost my final 30 pounds to reach normal (not over or obese) weight 2 years ago and keep it off. We are so fortunate in our day and age to have so many food options available, making the lowest carb choice is simple, tho sometimes not easy, haha.

  • 1. Nutsalmonds, walnuts, cashews
    2 seedspumpkin, hemp, chia
    3. Nut buttersalmond butter, PB
    4. Olives, stuffed olives
    5. Eggs,
    6. Soft cheeses Feta
    7. Pesto

  • I was curious! But I do loooove avocados! Nuts are too easy to overeat. I had one handful of walnuts last night and then 3 more:(

  • Great talk Peter, espicially about the fraud….just reading the big fat surprise by Nina Teicholz, the whole thing really pisses me off, this rubbish is what they are still teaching people at Uni

  • Thank you! I LOVE avocado, but I get really bad stomache aches, the last time I ate one, I got really bad stomache ache, I could not even walk or stand up for hours…

  • I sincerely admire your attitude towards to human health and well-being. in addition, your  presentation is well-documented and  intelligently demonstrated.

  • One could replace the yogurt with a 1/2 can of coconut milk (found in the baking aisle.) Whip this up with the berries and Chia seeds, maybe a few drops of liquid stevia, chill, makes a great dessert.

  • is there any specific reason why I should substitute Avocado besides how expensive it is? I say all of the above. I eat them all. but find cashews carby thou. my favorite nuts are macadamia and pecans but both are pricey and hard to find them in stores. wonder why. Not sure about the estrogen in almonds and walnuts. I don’t go nuts with those two. ladies by all means enjoy them. I heard Brazil nuts are good to boost testosterone level. If you choose the sodium in the olives over the avocados can’t beat those.

  • Low carb diet will cause un employment! U tell me how much people are involved in processed food. World does not benefit from low carb. Why we need to get healthy and happy and effective? No economics will benefit. We will.have almost 80 percent of unemployment and then what?

  • With your guidance, DB, I cut/majorly curbed carbs about 4 years ago. It was HARD for the first 2 weeks or so, but after that, it got easier and easier. I no longer crave them like I used to; most carbs kinda gross me out. But, I must admit, I do give into ice cream cravings about once a season. The full-fat yogurt with berries and seeds exemplified in this video looks delish will incorporate. Thanks, DB!

  • Thanks for great tipps! I can‘t stand avocado, but I love nuts, olives and pesto. Btw, you are the only lowcarb coach on yt who mentioned pesto! ♥️

  • Perhaps he lost the weight from avoiding PUFA (poly-unsaturated fats) and being in a caloric deficit. It doesn’t mean that carbs or sugar is the devil. There are plenty of lean people on a low fat diet who simply don’t over consume and avoid PUFA.

  • I have something to say about so called Organic wheat grain bread that is said to be  ok for DIABETICS>I am a Diabetic, and I have tried most of these socalled “OK” wheat based diabetic ok breads and I can tell you it BULL SH  } I check my glucose often every day, I have seen my blood glucose go all the way up to 300+. after eating these breads…….! And it takes a whole can of spinach w/ vinegar to get it to come back down. Knowing that the normal glucose high number is120. Please tell me how 300 is safe and ok!With a growing population of DIABETICES coming on line, how come the food industry is NOT catering to this public? But of course it appears that the American diet may well be the cause of this epidemic. Knowing that foods that have additives ending with OSE in the name of preservatives, and corn syrup, Are to be avoided also, read the labels, and you’ll soon find out that there is very little out there that someone who is a diabetic trying avoid killer foods. One Doctor told me to go back to farm fresh food, natural unprocessed foods. And avoid processed meat.

  • I would be careful with the statement at @ 38:38.. “carbs are carbs”. That sounds a lot like “calories are calories” and is also incorrect! (e.g. half of sucrose is fructose, and that makes a big difference.)

  • hi, thanks for sharing this video, i have a question, when i eat avocado my body starts to itch.
I bought organic avocado it was the same but little bit better than non organic one, what can i do?i love avocado.

  • I came here from Kettles, Calories & Energy Balance: What went wrong? by Dr Zoe Harcombe PhD | PHC Conference 2018 https://youtu.be/BaPJMuTNLXI

  • There might be something to this, but too much of it is exactly what he admits at 14:00 ‘Correlation is not causation’ and then he shows more correlations with some chuckling. Also he does what all the best used car hucksters do, he says, ‘you’re right to be doubtful,’ but then he doesn’t do anything different. (Watch when people are ‘chuckling’ is it funny, or just another way of convincing you? )

We’ve all heard vegetarians and vegans are healthier, and vegans don’t get heart disease, cancer or strokes. Okay, either there’s a bunch of 150 year old vegans in hiding, or they eventually die of something (I did consider the possibility their annoyed friends were killing them). The Center for Disease Control had the numbers. Vegetarians live longer than vegans, and vegans live longer than carnivores. The longest living group are the fish/egg vegetarians. All groups get cancer, heart disease and strokes, but for the vegans and vegetarians their mortality by these diseases are delayed a couple of years. Conclusion? People who eat meat aren’t as healthy, but it may also be that people who are not vegetarians or vegans are less picky about what they eat, or how much, etc… and something in these aspects are shortening the life expectancy of this group. (Is there a beef and fish but no poultry or soy bean oil group? Probably not, but their numbers could be interesting.)

I don’t think if I’m convinced to get rid of my canola oil, my only choice is to start buying beef. (When I learned that canola oil was known as rapeseed oil, Bill Cosby could’ve just shifted right over from Jello…, and that it’s essentially toxic until processed, I was concerned. Of course olives and olive oil prior to processing are also toxic, but they’ve been consumed for thousands of years and are central to the Mediterranean Diet. I found enough information online about Canola oil to accept it as safe. I’ve since seen enough to again be doubtful.

  • I love avocados, but they are not local to where I live, which makes them extremely expensive. They’re practically a luxury item. Thanks for this video.

  • Thank you so much for sharing. When you travel a lot Avocados are not always available so it is great to know what substitutes one can look out for.

  • There are groups who are not going to like hearing this message. Farmers who grow soybeans, wheat and rapeseed (canola oil). Big agribusiness which puts soybean oil and sugar in damn all everything. And the pharmaceutical industry that wants you taking meds for your Type 2 diabetes.

  • This man is hilarious, no he’s dangerous. Seriously, just look at every successful civilization. Talk to the billions of Chinese the Japanese Central Americans etc etc. It’s all a plant-based whole food starch-based diet with a minimal amount of meat. This is just exhausting. The reason we have obesity is because of the combination of foods high fat along with high sugar. Plant-based diets! Just look at all the Blue Zones! Seriously just look at the Blue Zones Study. If you don’t believe me try and find one successful civilization that is or was low carb.

  • Hello Dr Michael Eades, excellent presentation. Are you sure about the amount of ATP produced by the body per day? Would also recommend people change to Palmitic Acid oil or High Oleic Sunflower oil (HOSO) for cooking?

  • A misguided hypothesis. NZ Australia and UK had no vegetable oils prior to late 1970’s even then they were not used much until mid 80’s. Yet heart attacks peaked in 1966, Saturated fat intake was extremely high approaching 50% calories, Complex carb intake was down (compared to previous generation), sugars were increasing, cigarette smoking was up. Fat was and still is the number one culprit in metabolic syndrome. Just drive to any KFC and McDonalds. You see this in Japan where fat intake was under 20% calories, cancers were very rare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L6n4uCEF0k

    More =/= Less.

  • Hi from Greece,
Thank you so much, it’s nice to have a variety to eat. Hugs from Greece.( In Greece two of the most delicious feta are ipiros and dodonis, brand names:) )

  • By the way, the label he shows at 49:35 that’s full of unpronounceable ingredients, about 40+ of them… that label is from baby formula in case you were wondering. That’s what the label looks like on the garbage they’re feeding to babies. It’s just soy, corn, some oil and sugar, and a bunch of synthetic vitamins.
This is why the mother (as long as we’re not talking about an adoptive mother, they obviously don’t have any option to breastfeed) needs to be eating a good diet so she can actually breastfeed for longer than a couple months.
I almost lost my milk supply, it was getting worse and worse and my baby was crying after eating and hungry every hour. It was horrible. I tried every supplement and nasty herbal bars, herbal teas, herbal “candy,” power pumping, etc. Nothing worked. Changed to a low-carb, mostly animal-based diet and I’ve been able to stop taking all the supplements and my baby gets plenty of milk now.

  • This is very good. Most of us have a app to log in our calories. We forget that it’s WHAT you eat stacks up against you. Please keep these coming. Its not apples to apples but the pit falls (carbs) that slows down progress.

  • Brilliant talk. But I take exception to his number 1 recommendation for two reasons. Firstly, it’s out of step with the main topic of the talk, and secondly I object to his comment “If you cut the carbs you get rid of most processed foods”. This makes an assumption that someone who eats carbs is eating processed foods. At 2.50 he correctly says that in the 1950s people were eating carbs. So what kind of recommendation is it to someone who eats carbs but never processed foods. He makes no argument in this talk why I should reduce my consumption of, for example, onions, which are high in Vitamin C, a good source of dietary fiber, and folic acid. They also contain calcium, iron, and have a high protein ratio of mg amino acid/gram, and also contain quercetin, a flavonoid, one category of antioxidant compounds. He touched so lightly on carbs and he should have left that to another talk, about processing, about wheat, about gluten etc. or he should have better qualified his number 1 recommendation.

Thank you.

  • Hi where do total calories come in to play with regard to weight loss? I am hearing your low-carb, counting carbs and sticking to below 100 grams per day, and that makes sense. When you are in a weight-loss mode, should you also be sticking to low calorie?

  • I make my own peanut butter with a high powered blender. Just peanuts, no oil, no sugar, no salt. Tastes delicious and very different to Jiff or Skippy. Buy the peanuts in bulk at health food store and it comes to about a third of the cost of the ready made stuff.

  • when the doctor told me I was “prediabetic” I was relieved because I thought that meant I was doin OK and NOT YET diabetic! The freakin doctors should have actually bothered to explain that it meant I was about to get very sick AND ALMOST DIE! Now I am carnivore for 10 months and down 85 lbs and my chest no longer hurts really badly all the time. I am saving my own life. Last doctor that had told me to lose weight got a real earful as I bawled him out, starting with, “and just HOW do I even lose AND do that where it stays off?! I have tried everytjibg you all say!”. And when he admitted that diets didn’t work, I told him to stop insulting people with pointless advice. NOW there actually is a way to lose to lose weight and so many doctors automatically say it is not safe WHEN it is and it WORKS! smdh at the closed minds and rote behaviors from people paid to think. We pay doctors to think! The word needs to spread and FAST!

  • Last year my HbA1c was a pre-diabetic 6.1 then early this year rose to a diabetic 6.7 but after 3 months of following low carb and no fructose diet with a bit of intermittent fasting (basically skipping breakfast) my HbA1c is as of last week down to a non-diabetic 5.2 my liver values are also brilliant (ALT went from 65 to 38, basically no longer fatty liver). All other bloods really good. This diet really works. Oh and I also lost 16 kg in 3 months.

  • you must be on the right track; ever since I started to eat regularly at restaurants I put on a lot of weight. At home, we’ve been cooking with virgin olive oil since we move to Oz.

  • And also remember all the girls weren’t into sports too much in the 60s. But they did one thing all the time. Jump rope. Growing up in the 60s I can walk down the block and see boys playing stickball football and girls jumping rope. Now they seem to get their exercise on Facebook or Snapchat or Twitter. And the boys are getting carpal tunnel from all the video games they play. And every day there asses get fatter and fatter.

  • How is rice on a low carb diet? I’m starting my journey to loose weight but we eat a lot of rice in our household, is there a rice that’s better than another rice?

  • I choose to purchase 365 Almond Butter from Whole Foods as it contains only almonds—no palm oil. Also, I make a five seed mix and keep it in the fridge—chia, flax, hemp, pumpkin, and sunflower. I sprinkle 2T on my yogurt or put it into my smoothies. Is the blend a good idea? I love your channel. So happy to have found you.

  • so literally Long Chain Saturated Fat is the ONE thing that will both tell our cells to stop stock up on energy and getting bigger AND stimulate the generation of new mitochondria which literally is what increases metabolism, whilst Glucose and Unsaturated Fat literally do the opposite where the cell will just take in energy and grow disproportionately. I am so glad someone finally dared to go to the fundamental molecular and atomic level to explain this and in such approachable understandable way, and it makes me even more mad towards doctors and the food industry who must understand these fundamental blocks of energy synthesis yet they tell us to ditch the sat fat in favour of unsaturated!!!

  • Great tips and ideas to reduce carbs. Love how you break it down.
Relate to wanting more chips when I finish the bag…..they are addicting for me.
    Thank you.

  • No Avocado at all would be better. They need a HUUUUGE amount of water to grow. And they are being grown in Country”s with the biggest water shortage. But they sell for big money and the drought is devastating to the people.:-(

  • Doc, this question is for a previous video you posted about berberine. I was wondering if a type 2 diabetic person can supplement metformine with berberine? Thanks so much for informing us with powerful knowledge in your videos!

  • I am new to your channel. Not only I like the contents but also the short time presentation. Thank you. I already listened more than six today itself. Mainly because they are short. Thank you

  • Low carb diets lower brain serotonin some psychiatric drugs are designed to raise brain serotonin, example for OCD. Research article below explains how low carb lowers serotonin.

  • Fascinating hypothesis. Seems like this could be tested fairly readily with trials varying the FADH2/NADH ratio based on fat source intake. Does anyone know if this has been done?

  • Hardest thing for me, being new to avocados, is getting an assembly line of ripe ones. So I’m not waiting forever for ripe ones and not throwing out over ripe ones when too many ripen at once.

  • Palm oil is really bad for the environment, how could recommend that? Also other brands of nut butter that I use has the nuts and some sea salt no oil is added!

  • My health started to deteriorate around the time I started to eat foods from restaurants on a regular basis; the use of vegetables oils is the one factor that changed from my usual diet
We have always used Olive oil for cooking our foods at home. That and the habit of getting my healthy (so naive of me)freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice.
A few years after I have ballooned t o a 30 kg overweight and sick person. Six months after cutting on carbs and no more vegetable oils I have dropped almost 26 kg and gone off my meds. Keto is really great!

  • Thank you ROD and your amazing TEAM @LCDU with this presentation of Peter’s I can help to re-educate the many and beyond that I encounter. Peter does a great job of summarising the significant milestones that have shaped our modern diet and addresses them with the correction required.

I am beyond happy to be a member of this community today and into the brighter future.

  • I heard avocados are good for the liver too. I bought some to add to my meals. OMGsh, I thought I was going to the ER, it gave me severe abdominal cramps that lasted over 12 hours. I will never eat an avocado again.

  • 15:13 I was born in the 1960s, and I can tell you that even back then, there were a lot of ads for margarine and cooking oils that made health claims for their products. I grew up eating margarinewhich we always called butterand was shocked when I first tasted real butter. Even today, knowing how much safer and nutritious butter is, I can’t stomach it, because my palate was set on margarine long ago.

  • Wow! What a speaker! Fantastic information! Only problem is everything he said was either lies, deceptions, distortions, implied facts or quick-talking, slick manipulation and total nonsense. He spoke for 46 minutes, said nothing and dangerously deceived the public who are not learned in these matters. He forgot to mention some important stuff also. Like Robert Atkins (of the very famous Atkins Low Carb Diet) was 20 lbs (9 kg) overweight when he had a heart attack (due to clogged arteries verified by medical reports) 1 year prior to his death. Really, that’s all he needed to say in the first minute and it would have saved everybody wasting 45 minutes of their precious time. If the Atkins fact doesn’t convince you, then read on for more Peter Brukner debunking. The TRUE problem is consuming carbs and fat together, which is the modern, rich western diet, resulting in all modern chronic diseases. You can go low-carb (20%) or go high-carb (80%) and eliminate obesity and subsequently diabetes. However, long term (decades) a low-carb/high-fat diet (50% fat/30% protein/20% carbs) will result in heart disease/cancer/Alzheimers/chronic disease. Studies show this and you can find all this info on YouTube via lectures by Dr John McDougall (both diet and cancer lectures), Dr Neil Barnard (both diet and Alzheimers lectures), Dr Nick Delgado, Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, Colin T. Campbell (excess protein causes cancer). But conveniently all these references weren’t mentioned. Wonder why? Here’s how he further deceived you.
DEBUNK #1 He correctly states that the recommended (since the 1950’s) diet has been low-fat but then implies that the modern obesity epidemic is the result, so the low-fat diet is wrong. Where’s the proof that obese people are on this diet? He just assumed and therefore very slickly implied everyone’s on a low-fat diet just because it’s recommended. The facts are fast food and animal product consumption (both high fat) have skyrocketed since the 1950’s. So he deceived you.
DEBUNK #2 He correctly states that sugar consumption has also skyrocketed. He uses coca-cola/fruit juices/flavoured milk as examples. So he slickly implies that a high-carb diet is all about sugar and these drinks, which is a false notion. A proper, healthy high-carb doesn’t touch these thing. Again he deceived you.
DEBUNK #3 He correctly states that, in the human body, carbs turn into glucose, which activates insulin. But he is demonising carbs/glucose/insulin. This is another lie because any human biology text book shows this is normal operating procedure for the human body, and in fact, only in emergency times of famine/starvation (I.e. no more carbs) the body will revert to burning fat (which is the basis for the low-carb diet) and when fats stores finish the body reverts to burning protein and when protein stores finish you die. So a low-carb diet is putting your body in emergency mode.

  • Pro tip: unless you live in Italy and know for certain you are eating olive oil (we literally live here and own olive groves and pay to have them cold oil first and second pressed), just use a wedge of squeezed lemon on your salad, if you eat out.

    Second tip: don’t eat out.

Moral of the story: no one, including your doctor, cares about your health like you do

  • McGovern was a Democrat…the same party that currently has proven to be globalist, incompetents interested in spreading misinformation & stupid ideas about governing….losers all

  • I was listening to a video about Conjugated Linoleic Acid, said it was good..is that different than Linoleic acid?? A little confused…
    Thanks!

  • This is very illuminating. It makes sense on the timing when or modern society started increasing in obesity. I think a combination of things came together to create the perfect storm. They took foods n added vegetable oil, hydrogenated it, added msg, sugar, high fructose corn syrup n made it very addictive. I remember I couldn’t stop eating doritos. Only reason I did is the bag was empty. I’d drink pop like it was going out of style. I’d drink milk the same way. I would go to a miraid of restaurants n eat fries burger n pop etc. I could eat two double whoppers n large fries. I’d go to 7-11 n get a big gulp n Nachos with cheese. I’d eat n eat. No wonder I got to 500 lbs. I finally read protein power book n made a change n it saved my life. I’ve lost over 240 lbs. I don’t desire all those foods any more. the only thing is I wish they could figure it how to reverse insulin resistance. After hearing this I am no longer going to eat canola oil etc in my dressing mayo etc. Thanks Dr Eades for all you’ve done.

  • Brilliant info Low Carb Down under. Thank you for sharing this important information with us all. & Take care of yourself to. ❤

  • Saturated=Stable; why did we get tricked into thinking it’s bad for us? Someone wanted to promote the use of lamp oil for food at the expense of our health I guess.

  • maybe people ate lots of bread in 1950,,,,,,,,,,but they ate not a modern turboyeast 5minute hypermarket bread like today!
sourdough is eating the carbs naturally

  • I cant do keto anymore did for six month and my cardiologist said Mediterranean my colesteral is really bad put on meds I do have a heart condition am very sad because I love keto

  • Flaxseeds and flaxseed oil are full of linoleic acid. Is he saying that they do not lead to reverse electron transport and are bad for us?

  • It appears, then, that this article is complete bunk. https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/2014/11/05/dietary-linoleic-acid-and-risk-of-coronary-heart-disease/

  • Carnivores like Eskimos/Inuit have a lifespan which is 12 years shorter than average Canadian. Mongolians and Masai also do not have long lifespan. Check it out.

On the other hand, the blue zones, world’s 7 longest lived communities, eat predominantly plant based diet. Also based on WHO records, the top 3 countries with the higest life expectancy Monaco (89 years), japan and singapore (85 years) have predominantly plant based diet. Their meat consumption per capita is only 70% or less compared to USA meat consumption of 120kg per person per year.

Ancient china Imperial records also suggest superiority of predominantly plant based diet. Out of 250 Emperors, who feasted on meat, only 4% lived to beyond 70. Whereas out of 400 abbots of Imperial temples, who were vegetarian, 70% lived to beyond 70 years, a great achievement in ancient times.

Which high meat consumption community/country can match above records? We should not confuse high refined carb which is causing obesity/chronic illness with whole plant food eaten by mankind over the centuries.

Human is not designed to eat 100% meat considering
    a) our cisors and canine teeth for meat eating is only 12% of our tooth structure.
    b) the acidity of our digestive juice is only a fraction that of a carnivore.
    c) the length of our intestine is multiples that of carnivore and approach that of herbivore.
    d) even fast growing babies protein consuption is only 7% of their diet considering human milk only contain 1% protein.
    e) kidney patients are advised to keep a low animal protein diet to avoid further stress to their kidneys.
    f) scientists studying microbiome reported that best microbiome is found in diet containing fruits and vegetables.
    g) research on anti aging suggest that high protein diet activate mtor pathway which accelerate aging.
    h) the way animals are reared and meat cooked introduce too much carcinogens.

I am not advocating a vegetarian diet but just cautioning that a high protein/high fat diet long term may be going to the other extreme which does not promote longevity. Cheers.

  • Thanks, I LOVE avocado but am allergic to them… it’s hard because I keep trying to eat them and tell myself just a little won’t hurt and I feel awful for several days after. So sad

  • I am 30 years old, have been on keto for 2 weeks and feel amazing.
I am super grateful I find that information and I will try to pass it on to people that need help

  • Eating out is a disaster. Even the high end use seed oils in their salad dressings, sautéed vegetables, etc. I only eat out when traveling but only get grilled meat and that is it with specific instructions not to use any oils with the meat.

  • How is rice on a low carb diet? I’m starting my journey to loose weight but we eat a lot of rice in our household, is there a rice that’s better than another rice?

  • Thanks Dr. Becky! Love seeing my carbs dropping below 100g/day. I can’t even meet my caloric limit whilst counting carbs. Seven or eight almonds sure packs a whollop of feeling full for quite a while. A pork chop and green salad for supper fills me up very quickly. You are a blessing.

  • Thank you all for the presentations. I am a Female 73 lchf five years down 60 lbs, never look back, but still upset with the medical field big pharm and government for the the years of lying to us. I had to discover and undertake low carb high healthy fat on my own. Thank goodness for U tube with programs like this so We can learn how to live a lchf life and live longer healthier. Most physicians don’t know about this life path to good health.

  • I always enjoy your talks Dr Eades, not to poke a whole in your hypothesis but everyone grew up reading Asterix in the 70’s and allot of these people believe you just pop down to your doctor who will prescribe a magic pill. If you look you’ll find the landslide of prescription medication tracks with weight gain as well.

  • I agree with this gentleman about all he says except that all the food we have now is poisoned with hormones, antibiotics roundup, insecticides and hell knows what else and this is not considering the fact that there are no minerals in any food due to mass farming.

  • Thank you very much for the important presentation!
I want to ask 2 questions:
    1. Would it be correct to say that our cells are like our bodies (actually it’s the opposite….)? Saturated fat makes them full and satiated, declining from eating any more. And the omega 6 makes our fat cells obese, not knowing when to stop.
    2. The whole part about mitochondria is about making the cell’s own energy. So when it has enough, it rejects any more. It has no storage role or capability. But when talking about the fat cells, it is not about its private energy, it’s about its role as a storage “warehouse”. Aren’t these separate functions? It’s like saying that if the warehouse workers are full they won’t let any more stuff into storage…you yourself said that something unknown tells the fat cells to stop expanding at some point. Maybe it’s that mechanism which went wrong?

  • I’m Lo Carb (10grams/day). Last week 1st Doctor’s visit since I started. My A1c is 5.3. No longer pre-diabetic officially! And I lost 48 lbs doing it.

  • sorry guy, my family came from Tennessee, and wilted salad dressing was bacon grease AND water with melted sugar in it, mixed together (sweet and sour) with a splash of vinegar.

  • Essentially then, is he saying that due to reverse electron transport, which is significantly increased through the avoidance of vegetable PUFAS, and increased through consuming stable saturated fats, that even when you consume glucose, if you have it with a fat which efficiently induces reverse electron transport, which as we know, protects the cell against adipocyte hypertrophy, you can consume some carbohydrate and it will not be an issue? because RET (reverse electron transport) spares glucose molecules and allows them to be utilised by the tissues which indefinitely need some glucose at all times, and even once that has occurred, any remaining glucose will maybe enter the muscle cells and be stored as muscle glycogen? Thoughts?

  • Have you seen the new Zero carb. Bread sold at my Costco. The bread is made by FRANZ and has 12 carbs. And 12 grams fiber = o carbs. It has been reviewed on YouTube, I was wondering what your opinion is on this.

  • My Mother paid the ultimate price, she died (heart attack, diabetes type 2) because of the ADA and government Food Pyramid that she followed.

  • I’ve been a fan of Dr. Eades for ten years, which was when my health journey began. First to lose weight, then other matters. I’ve never been afraid of sat fats, eat eggs every day. About a month ago Mark Sisson, who I credit with saving my life via his Primal Blueprint, mentioned in his weekly blog he’s interested in benefits of stearic acid. That prompted me to buy some unrefined shea butter.

I’d heard of the Croissant Diet, I thought is was another eat all the shit you want and you will lose weight diet. Then I actually read the science, Brad has a biology background, and not only did it make sense, but his results proved it. This video explains why the CD works, although never mentioning it. Probably because of time frames.

I bought 3 lbs of stearic acid for $18 from you know where, It’s like fine sand. I thought, why not consume it directly instead of mixing with butter? I made a whey shake with 36g of stearic acid. Holy ketone bodies, Batman! At least that’s my thinking of why I had great mental clarity and high energy levels put to good use at the rec center. New personal bests!

It’s nice to have cellular science behind the observed results!

  • DEBUNK #3 continuedin this fat burning emergency mode your body removes hunger pangs so you can slowly die without hunger pains. Why the hell would you want to put your body in default emergency mode? This is an unnatural state and is nature’s second last resort to prolong your life and die painlessly. This is insane.
DEBUNK #4 He correctly states that margarine and cooking in vegetable oils are disastrously bad for you. Why is he mentioning this in a low-carb vs high-carb lecture. Does he actually have the gall to imply that margarine/vegetable oils are high-carbers foods? As a matter of fact, these oils are bad for you even when they are unheated. Why? Because they are 100% fat, so here he has actually shot himself in the foot.
I only could stomach half his waffling lecture, but if I went to the end I can assure you there be plenty more debunks. People don’t be fooled by his melodramatic BS and learn the facts and then you’ll see right through this and all other low carb charlatans who are only puppets for the enormous/powerful/wealthy meat/dairy/poultry/pork/fish industry. He is on some industries payroll and he is pulling the wool over your eyes. And he’s a master at it. Eating fat clogs up your cells, preventing insulin from removing the glucose (carbs) from your blood. So stop the fat not the carbs. And by the way, eating high-carb not only keeps you healthy, it costs about 1/4 of eating low-carbs, so you can see that is not what these powerful industries (including the general food industries) would want. And, barring trauma accidents, you’ll probably never ever have another doctors bill for life. Wow, what a concept. Eat green vegetables, totally avoid animal products and any processed foods (which includes vegetable oils))and get 80% of your calories from starch vegetables and live a very long, very super healthy life, right to the end. Who would have thought Mother Nature actually got it right by putting natural, unprocessed vegetable crops on the earth?

  • What a nice difference in clarity compared to “ doctors “ from the vegan side and their histrionics…( we all know who we’re talking about)

  • Yudkin 1972 is not new. Doctors can spin this all they want as a breakthrough. It’s bullshit. They’ve known for decades the diet dangers yet still sell their statins and insulin. Fructose is a big money maker.

  • FINALLY! I’ve REALLY tried to figure a way to like avocados, but just can’t do it. You’re the first one I’ve found to give alternatives. THANK YOU!

  • What is the diet of the longest living populations on this planet? Spoiler alert: it is NOT low carb. Quite the opposite. Stop spreading info that harms people!

  • This is an original synthesis of ideas. I think that it helps that he had an engineering undergraduate education. He clearly understands the mechanisms at work and artfully explains the processes and interactions. Life is basically electricity.

  • Dr.

  • A bit lengthy but very good content and delivery. This was posted years ago and not even 3,000 views? Only 4 comments? Very surprised.

  • Can anyone please tell us how to eat the damn avocado? How do people eat it??? Why is everything a mystery when it comes to avocado? Is Avacado illegal on youtube? mysterious avocados! Thank you for the subsutitues. I don’t use palm oil but rest is fine.

  • Wow. I have just started on a low carb diet for my diabetes. Thank you for this helpful information. I need all the help I can get.

  • No Palm Oil tress are being torn down in Indonesia poor animals. There government do not require them to replant. Animals dying in that part of the world at huge rates.

  • Finally you see how it works all the diseases like MS, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Diabetes 2, Inflammation can be cured by a healthy diet yes also Alzheimer’s the medical industry everywhere is corrupt to the bone about mental health read the book The End of Alzheimer’s by Dale Bredesen then you know how it works real foods and healthy fats to heal your body logical isn’t it I never saw a doctor I knew this already decades ago sugar is poison ☠️ and low fat is very dangerous

The best food in the world is……… canned sardines yes try it!

  • He is so right on the importance of sat fats for energy. I definetly feel it, the energy from a steak is real (given that you also eat some good carbs as carrots, honey, etc). Not the same if eating, say chicken and oil. Muscles don’t use glucose but many cells need it. Glucose is primarly used by the brain. Overating carbs does not give me more energy, it is a fine balance that your body drives into the taste response as soon as you let all the keto and vegan bs out of the table and follow the instinct.

  • I heard avocados are good for the liver too. I bought some to add to my meals. OMGsh, I thought I was going to the ER, it gave me severe abdominal cramps that lasted over 12 hours. I will never eat an avocado again.

  • I use to lose on low carbs doesn’t work anymore this is under 20 carbs 30lbs overweight very discouraging. The only thing that works now is fasting period. Not eating gets old.

  • Cruise invented the 3-hour Diet. Total bullshit. This method of losing weight is the slowest but easiest. Useless for people that need to lose a lot of weight or have been over-weight for a while. It relies on portion control only. Eating all day elevates insulin levels so it’s hard to burn body-fat. Eating every few hours doesn’t boost your metabolism, it boosts your insulin (the fat storage hormone). What boosts your metabolism is eating in a caloric surplus. But his carb swapping is smart

  • I agree with you that we all need to cut out the sugar and processed foods. Here is some food for thought. America’s low carb keto champion Dr. Johnny (Robert) Atkins died obese and riddled with artheroscleros. Ansel Keys was correct.
Drs. Caldwell Esselstyn and Dean Ornish are curing (the number one killer in the western world) ❤️ heart disease today with a whole food plant based diet.
The World Health Organization has listed red meat as a probable carcinogen. The preponderance of evidence from scientific research clearly tells us that a Whole Food Plant Based WFPB diet is the best diet for most humans.
I was all in and on board with your low carb diet but my health did not improve until I went WFPB.
    Keep an open mind.

  • Hello great information about our sad health care providers that I already had a good idea of what they are mostly consisted of… But I’ve been doing a moderate ketogenic diet for the last month and a half,I started after listen to Dr. Eric Berg, and there is a little if not a lot more food to live on and constantly live on for a long time without being hungry all the time. Also at the same time I after listening to his video about intermittent fasting aswelll I got on that too.i just needed to say that. Like steak, bacon, pork chops, rice, eggs (which I usually boil) salt pepper, homemade salad dressing, bay leaf tea with cinnamon and ginger root.
Now I only eat two meals a day, with the odd day I go with just one.and instead of low carb I’m going NO Carb until I clear up my eczema that also along with ackey joints and bad back sore muscles.i am gonna make an attempt to cut all unnatural sugars and sweeteners out of my life for good. I don’t have a house scale, and I’m not interested in the number watch Anyway to much, although it will be nice to get on after another month of this to see what is going on…now I know I started at around 235 pounds. I’m 6 foot male I know that I should be around 185….so thanks for your information, it will help me push on my way to a healthier lifestyle and stay away from the Drs.;) and I’d like to add I’m from and live in Canada, its not any better here. I have heard in the last 5 years on Facebook or YouTube, I’ll need to try and find the video I watched about a female Dr. I believe she was from Germany this was in the 50s she came out with a cure for cancers, and a lot of it was staying away from processed foods, and the store bought salad dressings… she also said that staying away from fish oils omega 3s was a good plan. Instead she suggested organic flax seed oil,the fresher the better and cottage cheese and something like home made milk. I tried that for a while, even though I have my cancer contained like it should be. You see we all have so called cancer, aids, the works…it’s our lovely immune system that keeps it all in check. Anyway,if someone knows of this Drs. Name that would be great for you to let me know so I can have a listen to her again. Thanks!

  • Dr. Becky’s videos are delicious, and nutritious. The presentation kept simple with comparisons can turn on that light bulb in the minds of many folks. That “got it!” moment that can make the change for people toward a path of better health/better life. With that said I invite myself to your house for dinner anytime! Ha, ha, ha. I’ll do the dishes.

  • Clarification In the 1950s, it would have been highly unusual for people to have toast for breakfast. Instead, toast was eaten with breakfast, and was eaten with plenty of real butter and to soak up the bacon, ham, or beef fat the eggs had been cooked in, and the egg yolk from the plate.

  • well… I have been on the keto diet for 2 months. I have dumped 16 pounds. My blood pressure has dropped significantly. It is a challenge, but I am not hungry, mostly just trying to resist influence by others to have goodies to eat. I do believe it is different for everyone, you have to fine tune the fat/protein/carb ratio to fit your body metabolism. After 2 months I am now trying to really focus in on super healthy, nutritional carbs just for the needed vitamins/minerals. But I believe I have broken the sugar ( as in drinks, cookies, ice cream, candy ) addiction….and I was really hooked. The thing that surprised me the most was how sensitive I have become to foods. I am still drinking 2 large cups of coffee in the morning and I can really feel the caffiene and I know this is not good so that is my neck hurdle, dump the coffee or at least get it down to a very small cup in the morning….damn I love the coffee

  • Its his hypothesis, not his proof. Tired of this keto high fat crap. A few can tolerate such an unnatural diet, the majority will heal when they eat mostly plants.

  • I use to lose on low carbs doesn’t work anymore this is under 20 carbs 30lbs overweight very discouraging. The only thing that works now is fasting period. Not eating gets old.

  • linoleum acid fat is beneficial. This is BS. Obesity is at the doorstep of wheat, grasses and other grains and seeds that were changed at the molecular level and we can’t digest. Look at these people from generations ago who ate wheat and were not fat. Look at us today with eating bastardized wheat and other grains. We’re fat. We’re obese. Period.

  • No Palm Oil tress are being torn down in Indonesia poor animals. There government do not require them to replant. Animals dying in that part of the world at huge rates.

  • As neither a doctor or chemist, I found parts of this hard to follow. I do understand the presenter’s case against vegetable oils. Am I correct that this included olive oil?

  • I remember the Vegans making a BIG stink because McDonald’s cooked their fries in beef fat. FINALLY McDonald’s caved and switched to veg oil, maybe 20 years ago. Sounds like McD had it right in the first place, and should switch back!

  • hi, thanks for sharing this video, i have a question, when i eat avocado my body starts to itch.
I bought organic avocado it was the same but little bit better than non organic one, what can i do?i love avocado.

  • You know Dr. Brukner, perhaps we should test all our food on the ants before we eat it. They clearly have better sence than the average scientist. Vegans could learn an awful lot from them.

  • There is an emerging issue about avocados. Due to their popularity, criminal gangs in Mexico are committing atrocities to provide them. The situation is similar to producing blood diamonds. How can we ensure we are not eating narco avocados?

  • don’t forget the effects of herbicides pesticides antibiotics gmos the giant corporations add to the foods (meat, dairy, veggies, grains, etc.)….

  • Brilliant speech, but your “creation vs. evolution” phraseology is so… ood. Vegetarian choices for meals may be found on the net, maybe this is a good source: https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/low-carb-vegetarian-meals/
