  • If today I stop eating a keto-ish diet and only eat fresh fruits and veggies no matter how much or little, my gums will bleed by late afternoon no gum bleeding issues on me eating a keto-ish way. Can someone explain why this is?   • Climate change is real….man does contribute, and we allow Haarp to be active everyday, we allow the oil companies to retain their patents on 200 mile per gallon cars, we allow chemicals to be sprayed everywhere, (roundup, the gulf oil spill, factory emissions, etc), yet, we want to tax the people for their carbon footprint. It makes no sense.

  • It is entirely possible to lose weight eating brownies and cookies, you’re just gonna be starving all the time because the food are extremely calorically dense. Also, you’re gonna have vitamin deficiencies, so don’t do it.

  • Another success story here. When I was in my teens and twenties, if you told me I would be even vegetarian in the future, I would have laughed at you. Now I’ve gone past that and have been vegan for years. Most people my age are overweight, obese, and/or are on prescription meds, not here. I see my primary care physician once per year for bloodwork, my PCP says “whatever you’re doing, keep doing it”. Since I stopped eating animal products, I’ve gotten rid of nasal polyps, cluster headaches, and skin rashes on my face from eating too much fish. No meds to get rid of all of those, which I had for years. I can eat as much as I want and never gain weight, if your eat the right foods. The key is to smash in the calories, eat whole foods, easy on the oil (avoid if you can), don’t fear the starchy carbs, make sure to get iodine in (dulce flakes on salad work), and take 2500 mcg of B12 per week. (Many non-vegans need to take B12 also, especially each decade that they are older). Follow Dr. Michael Klaper, he has a wealth of info on how to do it right. Also “Plantbased” athlete has some videos on his YT channel on the basics. Cheers.

    BUT….

    a. It also lowers your testosterone. Many vegetables n beans have estrogen n kill off your male hormones.

    b. It lowers your energy level. Just won’t work. Olympic athletes know this to be true.

    c. there are vitamins n minerals that are only found in meat.

    d. Lastly, learn a real lesson from history. The Hindu’s are the earliest vegetarian society ever found. They balanced their diets perfectly…. by 1526, their society had been completely conquered by the Mughal empire. The Hindu emperor fled, hiding in the mountains. If the British hadn’t intervened….. Hindu culture would be extinct today. So you want to go vegan? What kind of soldiers will you raise?

  • Surprised at the warning in the description. Having tried both vegan, and keto, at different points, I’d say it definitely smacks of bias, as both have supporting evidence, both have good and bad studies, and both have fans that subscribe to their chosen path with an almost religious fervor. I find myself watching fewer and fewer TED Talks as the years go by, and that warning, unless also applied to other new/”fad” diet talks, only serves to reinforce the impression (to me) that TED Talks have declined in quality and credibility.

I have been eating a WFPB diet for 5 years and whenever a doctor looks at any of my test they do not believe it belongs to a 32-year-old woman with a desk job, they always think they were switched with a 15-year-old, which is funny, because people don’t believe I’m 32, they actually tell me I do not look over 20. Best thing, not how I look, but how I feel. If I’d know I’d be feeling this good before, I would have changed my lifestyle long ago.   • Let’s be real for a second. Mostly Plant based is definitely healthier than most ways of eating. Mostly, not entirely. But eating plant based will not cure your arthritis and back pains outside of weight loss taking pressure off the joints. But if your joints and back are deteriorating, plant based won’t fix that.

  • All that stuff said about eating the cellular memory of an animal is what I also feel. I have thought about it a lot and the mechanics of how those cellular memories get stored, especially at the end, is through all the hormones pumping throughout their body. All that fight or flight as they smell the blood, see the carnage and hear the sounds.   • There have been year-long white bread studies and it is processed in the body no differently then grain breads. I choose grain breads because I have problems with my intestines.

    I stopped eating white bread, sugars and processed food.

    Lunch and dinner: I only eat carbs in one of these meals (quinoa is my favourite), I measure the size of the protein with the palm of my hand (I love seitan, jack fruit, vegan burgers, tofu..) and eat salad on both meals (I like watercress with onion, tomato and olive oil dressing).

    At breakfast I eat Weetabix Protein with coconut unsweetened milk, banana and Shia seeds.

    In the middle of the morning I usually eat a tangerine.

    If I feel hungry late at night have rice crackers with avocado. I have a treat at the weekend. I do exercise (HIIT or full body free weights training) 3 times a week. I drink plenty of water (small sips during the day).

    Sometimes, between meals, I eat olives or unsalted dry fruits (pistachios, almonds) but not very often.

  • If we’re talking longevity it seems the Okinawans pre WW2 did it best. They were plant based, mostly white sweet potatoes. However, the did eat very small portions of fatty meat, pork, a couple times a week, along with some broths that contained fish and bones. These old Okinawans outliving the rest of the world, vegans included, contributed their long lives to the small servings of animal products every few days. I suspect the added collagen and the dha/epa omega 3 found in animals made the difference for them.

Eating a frozen prepackaged meal of vegetables is as bad as eating a processed piece of meat. It is full of chemicals and low nutrients.

  • I love this. I have this argument with my mother all of the time! She is type 2 diabetic and keeps telling me she can’t have fruit. I tell her it is good for her, just don’t overindulge. I get “the doctor tells me no fruit” Yet, she will have a large bowl of ice cream! Makes absolutely NO sense.   • I can’t trust many studies or even science anymore when it comes to nutrition cause there’s so many studies that contradict one another and so many made to get you to buy stuff. Plants having antinutrients and oxalates for example which can damage your health in excess (which is why many vegans drink lemon water and maybe get kidney stones) and then saying red meat is bad but never looking at the quality of the meat. I think its important to eat for your individual health concern and see nutritionist to design a diet for you or use your own intuition. The amount of ex-vegan videos out there that did it right and supplemented and still failed are a lot, and then you have the opposite crazy end of only carnivore eaters who are anti plants….there’s like a war over nutrition
