The food industry vigorously promotes the myth “a calorie is a calorie”, however, based on these four simple facts, we know this is not true: 1. Fiber. You eat 160 calories in almonds, but only absorb 130—because some fiber calories pass through without metabolizing. Vegetables, greens, beans and whole grains are all high in fiber.

Your macros are made up of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. These different macros are each broken down and processed differently by the body. This is one reason not all calories are equal. Calories made up by carbs are going to affect your body completely differently than calories that are mostly made up of protein. June 26, 2012 New research challenges the idea that a calorie is a calorie, suggesting that certain foods and diets may be better than others for burning calories and helping people maintain.

One question that always seems to come up is: Are all calories created equal? A calorie is a calorie, right? Of all of the many nutrition myths, this is one of the most common and damaging. A calorie is not a calorie. Some claim that 100 calories of broccoli and 100 calories of candy will have the same effect on your weight.

This is not at all. / 5 Reasons Why All Calories Are Not Created Equal Last updated on December 18, 2019 By // by Astrid Leave a Comment The idea that calories are the most important part of the diet is one of the biggest myths of our “Nutritional Society”. Here are just a few facts that explain why all calories are not created equal. #1: Calories from whole foods provide more value than processed foods. Yes, by definition, a calorie is the same no matter what you eat. As defined, a calorie is the amount of energy it takes to raise 1 kilogram of water by 1℃, so technically, 100 calories of cake.

Despite what the sugary beverage and processed snack food companies want us to believe, all calories are not created equal. A new study from Harvard shows that individuals following a low-carbohydrate (20% of total calories) diet burn between 209 and 278 more calories per day than those on a high-carbohydrate (60% of total calories) diet. So the type of calories we eat really does matter. And while it’s been said that labeling foods as “bad” can trigger guilt and shame upon eating them, suggesting that all calories (or foods) are created equal might not help the eight in 10. Summary Different foods can impact your hormones, hunger, feelings of fullness, and metabolism differently, regardless of the number of calories they contain.

Just as all calories are not created equal, so all fats are not created equal. There have been many recommendations for increasing Omega 3 fats to diet, but this recommendation is an effort to make up for the overconsumption of Omega 6 fats that are.

  • I know you probably have a TON of questions on Intermittent Fasting and what foods do/don’t break a fast so I hope I answered many of your questions in this video. Comment below and let me know if there’s anything I didn’t mention in the video so we can add to our list! xoxo

  • Thanks Gary.
Keep fighting “big food” in spite of numerous evidence showing that the primary culprit of obesity is caloric excess, and lack of activity.

Good to see you’re still selling books and speaking about low carb diets, when it’s plainly obvious CICO wins every time.

  • In summary calories can’t be an issue unless you have an endless stomach and or you’re losing muscle, eat good food until sweetly satisfied, make sure you get your necessary nutrients and don’t eat high sugar/bad carbs(crackers, cake and whatnot)

  • I needed to hear this— again. I lost a bunch of weight several years ago by eating 1200 calories and working out with strength training and running every day. I’m 5’2″. 1200 is not adequate if I were in a coma, let alone for as active as I was. After I stopped losing weight, and slowly started to GAIN it on 1200 calories when I lost all the energy to keep up that level of activity, I stopped counting calories. And I craved sugary foods like crazy! I was insatiable! I tried again to count calories several months ago and everything about it felt wrong. I’m vegan, mostly whole foods, and I started to prioritize sleep. Instead of the crazy workouts, I’m walking every day, with 3-4 workouts during the week. Already I’m feeling better and have more energy, and I’m not crashing after workouts. It’s so hard to break the calorie counting mentality, since everyone screams in your face “CALORIES IN CALORIES OUT!” whenever you try to lose weight, and treat you like you’re just making excuses when you say you’re not going to count calories.

  • Can I have my fasting window on different timing on different days, eg. I break my fast today at 12 noon after 16 hrs fasting, can I start my fastin at 10 pm today and then I will beak it after 16 hrs that is 2 pm. Does it affect my IF

  • Hi, nice Chanel I’ve learned a lot.. I would like to know if natural Aloe juice made from scratch breaks the fast.. I take aloe for detoxing and it’s vitamins and helps my digestion. Thanks

  • Thanks you for this! I agree with many others about the music. Also I need to take regular medication. Which needs to be taken in an empty stomach and at least 2 hours before eating so fits in well with 16:8 however I cannot find if it breaks my fast? Any advise? I won’t stop taking these meds but would be happy to find that they don’t break my fast!

  • How about some organic heavy whipping cream??? I usually add that to my cold brew coffee in the morning, about 2 Tablespoons along with some cinnamon. Also how about some unsweetened almond milk??

  • Concentration camps had no problem getting people thin! Burn more than you consume and lose Body fat! The simple way! Lift weight, mainly compound movements! Calorie deficit! Moderate cardio! The more muscle the more fat adapted you get. Muscle metabolizes fat!

  • For real transformation you need perfect diet plan and training plan. The website called NextLevelDiet do it for you. I lost 14lbs in one month!!! Isn’t that amazing!?

  • I have started fasting from 8:00pm to 11:00 am but Tuesday I have beach volleyball from 9:00 to 12:00 and I don’t know what to do. Is it healthy to not eat before I go. Any advice??

  • Yeah don’t count calories to make sure you’re in a DEFICIT..no that doesn’t make sense…wow just goes to show that just because you have some degree, does not necessarily mean you’re intelligent…

  • ive tried literally every eating style the most restrictive and healthy diets imaginable and if i dont consciously reduce my calories i still gain weight, youre wrong.
That being said, i was only able to truly sustain calorie counting when i did it with a no oil higher carb moderate fat and protein mostly plant based diet because otherwise my body started to feel bad probably from glucose and other vitamin deficiency when i would calorie count on other eating styles.

  • Dr. I was on SAD my highest weight was 226 lbs then after Clean keto (no dairy no nuts)
I went down to 127 lbs.

I unfortunately had a terrible accident that made me had a horrible flare up of my spondylolisthesis, couldn’t walk etc. So I learned that Carnivore diet could help me heal faster. IT DID!!

Unfortunately with the vasts steroids medication of course I gained weight to 152 lbs. I am 5′ 6″ 47 y female postmenopausal.

But after 3 months of Carnivore
(Only Animal Protein and Fats, no dairy no nuts, no carbs whatsoever only from eggs). I was off completely of ALL MEDICATIONS.
I’m Carnivore for about 1 year now not restricting calories on the contrary eating till satisfied (1 1/2 2 1/2 lbs of meat a day) in 3 meals. This so I could heal hormones, metabolism, eating disorders (ex binger), depression, neuropathy pain, constipation, high blood pressure, cholesterol, sleep disorder, etc. AND IT DID!!!
Not only that but my true hunger levels!!

So I felt confident to try some EF (Extended fasting) Once a WK of 46 hr with homemade electrolytes, then refeed with carnivore meal (14 oz beef w organs and tallow or butter) then OMAD’S like 3 times a week, the rest my usual 2 meals a day. I dropped from 152 to 142 in 1 week without restricting calories,
keep in mind I was in ketosis to begin with so no “water weight loss there”. I feel really amazing, definitely body composition has really changed.
I am jogging now (fartlek) only 3 miles. Plus Stability, Flexibility, Resistance and Functional and Weight Training. Not every day.

I play with my macros ratio Fat=60+% Protein =40%

What do you recommend, any tips for me Doctor?

  • Hello u showed a packet of sweet & low and said aspartame but that’s incorrect. Sweet and low is made with saccharin so which one will not trigger a response saccharin or Aspartame? Thanks

  • can I still eat breakfast at 8am or 10am and stop eating after 4pm or 6pm instead of completely skipping breakfast and eat between 12pm to 8pm like others?

  • I am so grateful, and happy to get the opportunity to learn all this. I gave up eating bread because of the yeast, on the advice of my sister, and I kept eating chicken skin because I like it. I could write a book about my journey <3

  • Hello! I have been watching you for so many times. I just have a question, is it going to break my fast if I take my supplements with L-Glutathione, Collage Peptide, and Alpha Lipoic? I am doing a 21-3 fasting everyday. I hope you can help. Thanks!

  • I usually make a smoothie of spinach and kale with a tea spoon of lemon juice and apple cider vinegar and sea salt. Will this drink break my fast?

  • What about unsweetened almond or cashew milk in coffee. Also what about Allulose? I hear it supports weight loss and is very safe.

  • For real transformation you need perfect diet plan and training plan. The website called NextLevelDiet do it for you. I lost 14lbs in one month!!! Isn’t that amazing!?

  • Great information but the background music was headache-inducing. Trying to listen to words and having the electric guitar noise was quite jarring for me.

  • Hi, thank you for your info, that’s really helpful. May I ask does ACV break autophagy during IF? How many hrs of IF can make autophagy kock in? thank you.

  • It doesn’t really matter what someone’s metabolism is. Like put a 400lb woman on 500kcal a day I promise she will lose weight. All these people who say they hardly eat but they aren’t losing weight are snacking a lot and lying about how much they actually eat. It’s literally not possible to keep or gain weight whilst eating in a caloric deficit. Even with a slow metabolism it’s possible to reduce calories to lose weight. It’s literally impossible to keep your weight or keep gaining weight if you don’t eat any food.

  • Idk if your still looking at what we’re saying down here but I was body boxing with my brother and one time he threw a punch fast asf and both my. Hands were out trying to punch ‍♂️ and I didn’t react if anything I was stunned but somehow I did and blocked it with my arm taking hella damage was the reflex or reaction bc it happened involuntary

  • If you have been trying to burn fat fast, you should search google for “Epic Lean Body”. They can guide you and help you get the body you deserve.

  • Thanks for the video Nick! I have become abit of a fan of your information now having just watched all your videos and also purchasing your book! Do you do seminars or have any other means I could grow my knowledge base from you (all things hypertrophy and nutrition wise)? Many thanks. Leon

  • I try to explain it in relation to the actual absorbed calories from food. You tend to absorb more calories the more processed a food is. 100 calories in of raw broccoli and mars bar will result in about 30 and 95 calories absorbed respectively (very roughly). Also the thermic effect is higher for protein. So swapping lots of carbs and fat for protein, even while keeping calories in the same, can result in fat loss.
A high protein, unprocessed diet will have a vastly different effect to a low protein, processed diet even with exactly the same number of calories in.

  • hi nick. i have the book with joe warner and it’s very informative! i’ve already learned a great deal by reading through it a few times. my question is, how many calories did he consume? the book never really addresses that and i’m concerned about not eating enough. i imagine that it was lower for the first 6 weeks until he ate carbs and then it increased a bit? any insight you could offer would really help me out.

  • Good Garry brings up Biochemistry text book. This was the first step I started understanding what was happening in 1999 while studying 2nd year University. Then I just got my head filled with lies the rest of the time. And I didn’t understand all the sources of Carbs in our diets.

  • Hey Thomas! I really like to watch your videos on daily basis they are so productive but I have a doubt can you tell me during prolong fasting can I add cream of tatar in my water and drink it to keep my potassium level in check or would this end my fasting state or create a hinderance in my autophagy?

  • Hi Nick. This feels like a stupid question, but what is the best way of counting calories? I eat ‘clean’, small meals 5 times a day, and train 6 times a week.

  • Im so glad I found you. I wish I could call. How meny day should you fast. I’m doing it every day and watched someone who said not too. So confused

  • I’ve been on a low carbs diet, but what I what to know is “does calorie counting counts when you’re on low carbs?”.

P.s. I’ve been doing your 12 weeks transformation book. Brutal but exciting.

  • I remember arguing with vegans when Gary Taubes’ presentations and interviews started to make appearances on YouTube 8 years ago. First they said that his claims would never be taken seriously, and second that he would be obese within a few years. Now, jump 8 years ahead to the current moment, and not only is the mainstream medical community starting to heed what Taubes has been asserting for over a decade, but he is slimmer than ever. Hence both of these predictions were flat out wrong. The only way that anyone can take a vegan’s prognostications seriously is if they are already brainwashed by their propaganda, or if they have amnesia with regards to the failure rate of vegan predictions.

  • I’ve given up sugars, anything with added sugar and all kinds of refined carbs like rice, bread, pasta noodles etc. Do I also need to give up fruits like mango, lychee, pineapple to reduce sugars?

  • I’m so confused because all my friends lost their weight with calorie restriction so I know that’s possible. But I do keto and IF and there no weight loss, at least for now

  • Thank you for the info! Will flavorless sparkling water break a fast? And Is lime water equal to lemon water? Also during that time of the month what about pain killers like ibuprofen?

  • Hi, Dr. I hope you can read this comment. I started walking around a month and a half ago. I have no idea how much calories I eat since I change my lifestyle around 3 years ago, losing more than 85 pounds in a year and sustaining it for a couple of months and then gaining about 10 pounds. I kept that same weight for about a year and a half now. However, the quarantine and this change of activities got me gain like 5 pounds now. As I mentioned I started walking, that is now my exercise but I have seen that no matter how much I walk after 500 calories, the burning stops. Can you please explain that to me, and how can I make my body burn more calories?

  • Im sure that if I eat only 100 calories a day, there will be weight loss ((comment coming from someone that already lost 15lb in two months eating a normal deficit around 1500 calories)). Is simple math: no ingested calories + body needs energy for working = using energy already in my body (and loosing weight in the process)

  • I’ve given up sugars, anything with added sugar and all kinds of refined carbs like rice, bread, pasta noodles etc. Do I also need to give up fruits like mango, lychee, pineapple to reduce sugars?

  • Hi Autumn. I was wondering how one would go about recovering from a long period of calorie counting. How would they fix their “damaged” BMR/increase their BMR.

  • You must track geta scale and measure. If your in a caloric deficit you will lose weight. If your not losing weight either your not tracking correctly or midjudged your bmr and daily expenditure

  • I wish the American Academy of Pediatrics would take some of this awesome info. The kids food pyramid is dumb and unhealthy. Kids need more vegetables than just 3 servings and more protein and fat. Not 6-11 servings of that starchy crap. Protein and Fat is what makes kids and teens grow. Not Carbs. Non starchy vegetables should be the important group, non starchy fruit the second most important, protein the third most important, fat the fourth most important, whole grains and low glycemic carbs the fifth most important, and starchy foods and sugar should be eaten super sparingly or never. Many pediatricians and kid dietitans think that a low fat diet for obese and overweight kids is good since fat is calorie dense. It is absolutely not true though and might actually make things worse.

  • Hi Nick,
As you have previously stated in videos that the training community can often lead to confusion for people like myself, being told all sorts of different views from a lot of different sources. The latest thing I overheard was a PT in my local gym saying to a client that training 5-6 times per week with 1 day off is a good aim, he then says to his client that if there is anything they ‘want’ to eat like sweets and takeaways that they should do it on this day off. He even went as far to say that doing this aids you in the long run which I found strange, I did not get the entire conversation but this felt strange. Would there ever be a justification other than cravings for example to do this, smashing it in the gym for 6 days then and having in essence a ‘binge’ day?
    Cheers

  • I’ve recently started tracking what I eat (mainly to make sure my carbs are restricted and my protein is high enough) and I was stunned at at how “CICO is ALL that matters” persists in many posts in my news feed. If you even challenge them slightly and say, “It’s not ALL that matters” they will keep going. It’s very strange. I’m not saying that energy intake is irrelevant. I’m saying that your body will process different sources of energy (fat/carbs) differently and it’s not a choice for everyone. A significant number of people (look at the numbers for insulin resistance, pre-diabetes and diabetes in the U.S. alone) can’t access the energy from carbs and it’s just ending up as excess fat in the cells. My guess is that 1) these people really are simple-minded and like simple stuff, so they can’t wrap their brains around metabolic pathways 2) they like to think they alone, and not some amount of genetic good fortune, are responsible for their health and that everyone else is a glutton 3) they are sugar or processed food addicts who don’t want to give up their addictions.

  • I’ve lost 25 lbs on Weight Watchers Freestyle Program. WW does not count calories from every type of food. You can have as much lean protein, fruits and veggies as you want.

  • Am i the only one that laughs every time he says “bread, pasta, cereal, crackers, biscuits, waffles, pancakes, muffins”? He says it so fast LOL

  • My buddy laughed when I told them I was going to lose fat with just using Custokebon Secrets, but after I showed them amazing results after I used it they’re begging me to tell them about it. Of course I won’t tell them the detail about this diet plan, lol

  • You poeple are just confusing the hell of us…dr this,dr that,dr selfproclaimed bodybuilder. I ama lean and I just watch this channel for health/food reasons, but that is also soo confusing. Basically,we are left with eggs, kale, lemon water and nothing else to eat. We have to live lives,we cannot cook 12 times a day or starve for 24hours and go to work.

  • Thanks for bringing up the part at the end about as we get older things change, I’m 50 and you are so right about weight loss being much harder than it was 20 or 30 years ago. I’m averaging about 1 lb weight loss per week but many years ago I would do the exact same thing and lose 3 or 4 lb per week. I lose weight easier when i watch my calories. If i dont then i often eat more than i realize.

  • Am i the only one that laughs every time he says “bread, pasta, cereal, crackers, biscuits, waffles, pancakes, muffins”? He says it so fast LOL

  • If you want to shed pounds, it is best to check out Custokebon Secrets on google. They will help you get the body you should have.

  • Every time I cut calories, I lost weight. Every time, no matter what I ate. When I quit counting, and started taking in too many calories, I gained weight. It’s been cut and dry for me. I really like this guy, he’s very smart but waaaay over thinking and anylizing this for the simple lay person

  • If toothpaste and mouthwash breaks my fast is there anything you can use as a substitute? i can’t just not brush my teeth and not use mouthwash my wife will leave me

  • I’ve been on Keto for a month and have only lost 2 pounds and I will be 30 in January. I was doing calorie restriction prior at about 1600 calories and I’ve been eating between 1400-2000 depending on the day should I calorie restrict on Keto? Very discouraging I’ve lost so little compared to other people my goal is 20 pounds lost

  • eeeeh you say you recommend Veggies because they are high in nutrition and fiber. That is true but you do not discuss the element of Bioavailability of these veggie vitamins/minerals etc. to us humans. They are almost non existent in availability to a human. We simply do not have the digestive system of a ruminate or herbivores so we can extract these from veggies. Hence no bioavailability to us humans. All you are left with is FIBER then and the only thing it does it make you drop bombs on the toilet.

  • I like Berg but actually I’m eating less calories and working out on an empty stomach, drink my shake afterwards, have a low calorie dinner. Down 2 waist sizes….lots of water…..did away with refined sugars, no breads, cookies, donuts, never liked soft drinks but cut away bad carbs folks.

  • What is the sex drive like on Keto? It seems to be any issue for many if Internet forums are anything to go by. Not criticising. Just the one reason that scares me away from it.

  • Hello I am new to intermittent fasting but one question I have is about swerve. Does it break a fast if I add it to my black coffee in the morning?

  • I’m a physique competitor (Natural) and let me tell you, every single time lowering your calories does work. I cut weight 1-2 times a year for my competitions and both times I lower my calories, hit my macros, and the weight/fat goes away every single time! My coach is 53 and he competes still and he 100% just lowers his calories and hits his macros too I start out around 220-230g of protein 310-320g of carbs and 75g of fat. And whenever my weight/fat loss stalls I lower the carbs only and I continue to lose again. I’m not saying Dr is wrong I just don’t think this applies to the general population, all my friends/competitors all just lower calories and hit macros when it’s time to shred

  • It’s pretty dumb that if you ate only 2 slices of salami a day and have 20kg of fat on you that your body will store that as fat and then start breaking down muscle tissue. Like wtf is the point of fat then?

  • Honestly, I watched this video to test to see how right or wrong Dr. Berg is here. And wow, he is 100% correct about EVERYTHING! If YOU greatly reduce sugar(<50 grams to start with, then try to get <30 grams), No Sodas, No Milk(more sugar), No bread(don't buy bread) + walk 45 minutes a day, every day you will get out of the obese range and at worst you'll be a little overweight, which is manageable. Might take 6-24 months but it's worth it!

  • Sounds like Dr. caters mainly for people with over weight issues. What about skinny people doing keto and CAN NOT AFFORD to loose any weight? Any video on that topic?

  • I agree with what he saying because your metabolism need to speed up as you get older. I gained 50 pound in my 30 years and couldn’t lose it. After I got away the from stress, I lost 30 pounds of it.

  • why do people want to lose weight? wouldn’t they want to lose fat instead? who cares how much you weigh if you’re not carrying fat, right?

  • from your argument, it is still “a calorie is a calorie”, the only thing you described is the differnt effect of the chemical compound (structure) between a whole organic to industrial processed.

  • Eating less and HEALTHY = people losing weight
It has always worked y’all need to stop acting like you’re constantly discovering warm water and stop being alternative where it’s just not “necessary”
    Just stop ✋ bye

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger and other fitness gurus recommend counting calories. Counting calories have been around for over 50 years, even my grand mother knows.about it.

  • why do people want to lose weight? wouldn’t they want to lose fat instead? who cares how much you weigh if you’re not carrying fat, right?

  • It’s pretty dumb that if you ate only 2 slices of salami a day and have 20kg of fat on you that your body will store that as fat and then start breaking down muscle tissue. Like wtf is the point of fat then?

  • I eat two slices of cheesecake (very light crust) from the bakery and mostly eggs butter bacon and cheese all day and lose weight fast eating more calories so I can attest to this. Also, It depends what kind of calories I guess and putting butter on everything especially vegetables really helps.

  • I’m not keto, i’m calories in vs calories out and i’m losing weight fast af. 3lbs per week. So I guess it varies per person. I don’t feel the need to go keto again, I hated it because of how restricted I felt. Feel like im learning lifelong healthy habits instead of carb phobia

  • So are you saying that if someone decides to eat a half cup of rice that the rice will be metabolized the same as sugar and converted to fat?

What if that person is taking within their Macros?

  • Calorie deficit made me plateau. I had to repair me metabolism by increasing my calorie intake and stopped intense exercising for a month. Now I’m working on building muscle to increase my metabolic rate and keeping my calorie intake at 2,000-2,300 of healthy foods. All food kinds, not restricting what my body is craving. Craving sugar, go for an apple, craving bread, go for whole grain. Listen to your body, it knows what nutrient it’s lacking

  • Dr. Berg, you are super informative and you’re really helping to guide me through this weight loss journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you do for us. You’re appreciated. <3 I'm currently 3 months in and 35 pounds down via keto and intermittent fasting.

    Edit: Now I’ve lost 70 lbs. <3

  • I bought that first Dr. Atkins diet book back in the early 80’s so geez that is over 35 years ago. I liked the concept and was maybe 210 lbs at the time lost 30 lbs in a couple of months and gradually put it all back on but it took about 20 years so who knows maybe instead of going from 210 to 185 i would without Atkins gone from 210 to 225 or whatever so even though put the weight back still was probably better.
One of the things i remember from that book was he would detail specific problems people might have losing that last few lbs and he would have those people go on his macadamia nut/cream cheese diet LOL do not recall as to was that the only food you coul;d eat but now see he was emphasizing high fat vs protein. Sounds like the beginning of Keto there.
Anyway without following any one diet after i retired and simply watched my carbs and went for a 3 or 4 mile walk every day so went from the 210 to 172 in about. 1.5 years still at that weight 10 years later. Carbs say no more than 80 a day but have had, for example, 1x a month fries with my McDouble than just wal a little more the next day

  • Nice Paul! More of these short and clear videos please! And if I were you, I’ll add in all the “old” presentations you have on different channels, because there are some really good stuff there. That will give your channel more inertia 😉

  • I would guess that, if nutrients have been largely removed: nutrient absorption is moot, aside from the speed of gut absorption>>storage. It may be a reasonable rule of thumb that, beside whey which has been partially or fully hydrolyzed, which may or may not justify the added cost: having a machine or process of any sort do the work of digestion and absorption for you is likely to drive down any positive effect of food one could name, to a degree commensurate with the relative processing.

  • ok so a processed slice of cheese is like 50 calories, the same for real cheese is like 150-200 calories. minus your pety 15 calories your video still is stupid.

  • Thomas, I didn’t come here to debunk you, I came to learn. Check your math please. @ 2:48 you tell us the whole food sandwich took 33 calories to just be digested, while the processed sandwich took 17 calories to digest. Then you say (@ 2:59) the 33 calories were 19.9% of the total. @ 3:06 you mention the processed sandwich took 17 calories or 10.7% of total calories. You’ve already indicated that both sandwiches had the same calorie counts. @ 3:14 you announce “that is less than half the energy that it takes to break down a whole food sandwich”. Since when is 17 less than half of 33? (51.5%) Since when is 10.7 less than half of 19.9? (53.8%) Hyperbole is fine when discussing your sponsors, but it has no business in the math. All this kind of mathematical error does is detract from your credibility. Thanks for the good content you provide us. Please keep it up. Please please, do the math.

  • The obesity epidemic will not cease until we: 1) Decouple the Big Pharma-Big-Factory-Agriculture parasitic economic co-dependency relationship from our economic systems (they will in fact bankrupt entire nations as health care costs suck us into economic warfare mass death); 2) The old school vested scientists and department heads and advisory quacks holding the line on the old lies and myths of the FDA food guidelines all retire and DIE (from their own ignorance). We are close to an inflection point where there’s going to be a global “aha moment” as the common-man wakes up and becomes outraged that he’s been bred to be a sharecropper to work his whole life to stuff his face with crap food then to give back his life wages to doctors and pharma to keep him alive a few more years while they suck the family estate dry like parasites just to prevent it being transferred to his own family heirs. God damn these evil bastards for the 100s of millions of lives they are destroying through cruel means. Most know better. This is the worst kind of warfare ever seen in human history. Creating food addictions that are basically bio bombs designed to control the population and get people to die off the entitlement retirement programs.

  • I’m 64 lost 50lbs, 10″ off my belly, my BP and Blood sugars down to normal (I am Off All Meds)

The first month is a little rough but now it is easy… I have rules, #1 <50 carbs per day, #2 ONLY Eat when I am Hungry (Not by the Clock), #3 Eat as much as I want (see rule #1) and NEVER EVER GO or BE HUNGRY (see rule #2) which is very easy if you like Meat and Eggs as I do.
I have thought I was hungry while cooking eggs and then discovered mid way that I am not really hungry… then I save the eggs for Salad for the next day… actually I have gone 2-3 days without eating (see Rule #2) without being hungry at all and just as soon as I am hungry… I eat… mostly what I have already cooked.

Takes longer than a year to develop new habits, I have conquered the eating sequence or lack of, just need to conquer the always wanting to cook habit (my Freezer is getting Full).

  • Anything that stimulates insulin release technically breaks the fast. Coffee included and yes even artificial sweetener. However, going in and out of ketosis is normal, healthy and fine.

  • Even top weight-loss experts were alarmed when they saw this…

  • Paul saladino discussed this on his podcast with Tommy wood. The food needs to make to the lower small intestines. Processed foods don’t make it there. The reason gastric bypass works is the small intestines are moved up higher forcing food to the lower half of the intestines. Thomas I’ve said it before. go on Paul saladino podcast. Talk omega 3 with him.

  • There is nothing known as metabolic damage.I have consumed 1500 calories a day for a month to loose that last 5 lbs.The simple fact is if you want to lose body fat you are bound to go hungry and also calories in calories out matter you cannot break the laws of thermodynamics

  • Who would’ve thought that the human body is much more complex than simple maths and the quality of what you eat and the timing matters as much as the quantity.

  • None of this is hard go to the gym eat protein and little carbs job done! The key is consistency! And look at your total calories in vs out not day by day that is wrong but over a week or so!! People make it hard due to being lazy.

  • I’m really getting this one. I had been feeling that avocados help me lose weight faster. I’ve noticed when I have at least a tbsp a few times a week, I’ll lose weight BUT when I don’t eat avocados let’s say for 2 weeks or even 3, I seem to NOT lose. I was thinking it was just me but this Video helped me feel sane. LOL

  • I’d really like to talk to a bio-chemist and have them answer me this question: “Calories are measured by completely burning food, possibly at temperatures up to 1000K so that there’s complete dissociation of the molecules down to the simplest components. However, that does not happen in the human body: proteins are normally broken down to the amminoacid level, not to the single atom level. Why should we consider that measurement of calories as relevant to the actual effect on the human body? Shouldn’t we consider the actual bio-chemical transformations that are happening in our bodies and measure or estimate that amount of energy?”

  • Thomas, for the last time, NOBODY WILL TRUST ANYTHING YOU SAY CAUSE YOUVE ALWAYS GOT SOMETHING TO SELL. When you got nothing to profit then your words will gain merit

  • Yes! Thomas… Excellent presentation of your being a sparkling example of genetic perfection;) love the show’s good knowledge.
Craig taking heed of everything so far from when I caught a hold on this marvelous Chanel you host here.
    Have a great day.
PS. Thanks to the researchers who gather knowledge too!

  • This is a reason people are getting fat. Just listened to a Low Carb MD podcast with Dr Agnes Ayton, and her findings are consistent with processed food making the western world fat. They’re also messing with our brains, making is less psychologically healthy.

  • Its still surprises me, how some people don’t know about Proladox Diet Plan (search on google), even though lots of people get good results with it. Thanks to my cousin who told me about Proladox Diet Plan, I’ve lost a lot of weight with it without starving myself.

  • Listen up stupid young girl with certificates

  • I don’t eat processed”fast”food very often, but when I do…. it sure seems to ride in the “diamond lane”(HOV) to my back door!!! It never stays long.

  • I just love his passion for this! Thanks for all your info! I’m down 26 pounds and counting! Thx in a large part to your info! Here’s to 25 more to go!

  • Grammar police here, Thomas: “Why Processed Food Burns FEWER Calories” Not “Less”. Rule of thumb: If you can count them, use FEWER. If you can’t, use LESS. Examples: Fewer snowflakes, but Less snow. Fewer dollars, but Less money. Fewer calories, but less ingested energy. Otherwise, great video again! Thumbs up!

  • big up for MD ROBERT LUSTIG thank you very very very much Thomas I am so appreciative this is NOT just about fintess this is also about the innocent children who get methabolic syndrome out of processed food tricked onto them. God bless you, for real!! I took the liberty to notify this video on MD ROBERT LUSTIG page, again, may God Bless you!

  • people really dont understand how complicated nutrition is. its so much more than macronutrients. i’ve given up trying to explain or nutrition with ppl because no one actually cares, and as soon as u bring up things outside of carbs and proteins they shut off. oh well, enjoy diabetes?

  • “future studies are required to determine whether a reduction in DIT is characteristic of PFs generally”

“These findings are currently relevant only to this type of meal”

the study conclusion distances itself from the conclusion you attempt to draw with this video.

  • First of all, thank you for your content and all your videos. You’re helping many people!

Secondly, I’ve been hearing about consuming avocado pits for nutrition. Seems the common practice is drying them at a low temp in the oven or food dehydrator then grinding em down into a powder to then add to a smoothie.

Some say this is dangerous, others say its very healthy as the pit contains up to 70% of the nutrients of the fruit. Idk if this is your style, but a lot of people would like some light shed on this subject. Perhaps a short video would do the trick!

Thank you, again, for helping me along with many others in their health! You are a great person!

  • Also preservatives that can suppress guts bacteria. Guts bacteria normally burn a lot of food calorie which is equivalent to a rabbit metabolism. Just imaging when you eat, you are actually feeding yourself and a rabbit at the same time. With antibiotic action of food preservatives, the rabbit stops eating.

  • At the 4:40 mark u say full fat half and half wont break your fast but then u say its tricky cuz it well stop the atophogy but not kick u out of Ketosis. So does it break the fast? Please clarify?

  • Thanks for starting this channel. You are one of my go to youtube speakers. The studies for both LCHF and IF seem to show you get approximately 250 bonus calories per strategy. If losing weight is the goal then CICO has to work of course but when doing IF and LCHF the scale is shifted making it significantly easier to lose pounds.

60 years old, Lost 65 pounds over 8 months and at goal weight (just under), Feel great. LCHF/IF-OMAD/Carnivore.

  • You have got to be kidding me…… this is almost criminal how much of a fraud this dude is…… what a lying sack of sh!t strictly out to deceive you and give you misinformation…. how the hell do you look at yourself in the mirror and put it these absolutely absurd videos created for the sole purpose of deceiving you what a scumbag

  • Hi Nick. I tend to use the Harris Benedict formula when helping clients to control their calories, except when they’re obese, in which case it doesn’t work. What do you think of the Harris Benedict formula?

  • The entire point of “processing” is to make calories and nutrients available more efficiently. We’ve always been doing it. It’s what has showed us to grow big brains.

Cutting raw meat into thin strips to make it easier to chew is processing. Milling flour is processing. Selectively breeding plants to have fewer toxins and more carbohydrates is processing. Processing food is what humans do. It big brains depend on it. Even what we consider “whole” foods are highly processed compared to what people had available even 150 years ago.

Processed food is a boon to people who still do manual labor so hard they burn every calorie they eat before the end of the day. But virtually nobody works like that anymore.

Our technology has run ahead of our biology. Our brains would need to grow and our guts to wither for us to eat highly processed food.

  • AGREED !!! All calories aren’t made EQUAL!! Another example why a calorie from highly processed foods vs that from a whole food aren’t the same is looking even past the digestive phase. Vegetable oils which are highly processed and tend to result in high contents of trans fats with cooking, will take much longer to be metabolized in the body, hence more fat storage, than an equal caloric intake of say, unrefined virgin coconut oil ‍♂️‍♀️

  • This is why i follow your channel, i love the science behind how your body works and have used it to lose a lot of weight over the last few months

  • If you go for a walk and burn 100 calories, those 100 calories are coming out of either your body’s storage, or the food you ate… just because you burn less of the calories from the food you consumed doesn’t mean you’re going to burn any less calories from your body’s storage. A calorie is a calorie. Period.

  • He’s cherry picking studies that don’t even have a lot of data!! He only chooses studies that support his business agenda… Such BS.

  • Have you ever asked one of these health nuts what a “processed food” actually is? They can’t actually tell you. Instead they just list out some junk foods.

  • I love when dogmatic CICO theory believer try to push this cult like heck, just so they can ignore they are sugar addicts, trying to justify and defend their bad eating habbits

I mean when im on deep keto, really really fat adapted and can create ketones from my food wich i breath or pee out later on, but could also eat a bunch of fructose or drink sodas wich i store instantly, how the heck is a calorie a calorie if on on hand i can pee&breath calories out?

there is way more, but it doesnt matter anymore to me to argue with people who think a formula based on a closed technical system is explaining our hormone depending biological bodys because i know from experience CICO is just BS and dont work

use my stats: i was 130kg, 182cm tall, had a job at a gas station for 10Hour a day (very active) + 2 hour workouts 5 times a week (intense weight training)
I was also walking…everywhere, cause i dont have a care, that adds to at least 12 hours activity + workout and i was eatin 1800kcal

USE YOUR THEORY, i should burn AT THE VERY VERY LEAST 4000-5000kcal a day, so i should have lost 1kg of fat every 3day…i lost maybe 0,5kg a month, and i got weaker and felt worse each day, so i guess it was muscle, despite all the EAA, protein (2-3g per kg bodyweight) etc.

then i switched to keto, ate 3000-3500kcal real keto and lost over 20kg the first 3 months…believe what you want, i know my human body is not explained by a formula from some closed machines

  • Hormones aside, if you stick to a caloric deficit long enough you will lose weight. End of story.

If you can’t seem to lose weight you either:

    1. Do not know your true BMR/TDEE.
    2. Are not sticking to your caloric deficit for long enough.

    Having trouble catching on?
What happens if your vet says your dog is overweight? You don’t go and worry oh I must not be feeding my dog enough protein/carbs/fats — you feed it less. It’s amazing how it’s easy to make that distinction when it’s not a human.

  • Last time someone preached “calories in calories out” to me, I just said, “Yeah, that’s exactly what Coca-Cola and Pepsi want you to think.”

  • You summed up months of research I did to figure out how to lose weight, 48lbs down and I wish I found this years ago. 2lbs a week and I heal much faster due to the proper nutrients in my diet.

  • I eat two slices of cheesecake (very light crust) from the bakery and mostly eggs butter bacon and cheese all day and lose weight fast eating more calories so I can attest to this. Also, It depends what kind of calories I guess and putting butter on everything especially vegetables really helps.

  • help. ive been only eating 800-600 calories latley. and i dont know how to get back to 1000 calories without gaining much, but if i eat clean like fruits vegetables etc maybe it wont happen?

  • Counting calories work for people who are self disciplined and consistent. It only doesn’t work for people who see diet as a diet and not a lifestyle change.

  • This doesn’t make sense from a survival standpoint. Well maybe it does but it seems to be in cavemen days we should hope for lower energy consumption eating our natural foods. Logically fake foods requiring modern civilization to produce should be foreign to the body and take more energy to process because it’s foreign. So I wonder if natural food burns more calories simply because there are more vitamins and minerals that are processed.

  • Your body does not circumvent the laws of thermodynamics. Some foods may affect how many calories you burn, but the fact will ALWAYS be calories in vs calories out. Period. Stop giving people an excuse to be overweight. They cant help it because of all these stupid factors you talk about. You CAN NOT gain fat taking in less calories than your body burns. If you are not losing fat, you HAVE to either decrease your calorie intake or increase your calories burned, or both. PERIOD. Stop giving people excuses

  • What if your still undereating without calorie counting, or vice versa like say Someone is eating too many calories but they’re eating “non processed” Whole Foods (or a generally healthy diet) does your body end up gaining weight then? Also if I stop counting calories I’ll feel bad and eat less anyway so I don’t know how that would play out.

  • I guess in this sense, if it holds true for other foods, then for emergency food (like for extreme climbs / hikes / or just getting lost somewhere), the processed food may be better since it is expending less energy to consume it. Though to be critical, I think the negative effects of the processed chemicals don’t make up for the caloric energy saving in these high risk situations.

  • One of the most misleading statements about keto diets is that calories don’t matter as long as you’re not consuming carbs.

This stems from the insulin to obesity theory and it goes something like this:

1.Carbs cause insulin to be secreted.

2.Insulin (the storage hormone) stores those carbs as fat.

3.Eliminate carbs and you’ll stop storing fat regardless of calories consumed.

    4.Become a fat burning machine.

It’s true that getting into a state of ketosis will increase fat oxidation. After all, fats and carbs are the main fuels used in the muscles for oxidation during exercise. If you eliminate carbs, then eventually the body is left with no choice but to use fat as the primary source for fuel. Boom! Increased fat oxidation, right?

But there’s a difference in fat oxidation and a reduction in fat mass, which can only happen in an energy deficit. And if you’re consuming an excess of calories from fat, then the body will do the same thing with those excess calories from fat as it does with carbs: it’ll store them for later use.

The reason that a ketogenic diet works well for some people is that it can increase satiation – the feeling of fullness. This higher degree of satiation can naturally cause some to eat fewer calories, which leads to fat loss despite the fact that they may not be counting calories.

The ketogenic diet will work for fat loss in the same way that every other diet works for fat loss – by creating an energy deficit. You cannot eat as much as you want on a keto diet and still lose fat simply because you eliminated a macronutrient source.
People love to hear: “You can eat as much of X and Y as you want, as long as you don’t eat Z and you will lose fat”

Eating two combined macronutrients without the third can’t break the law of thermodynamics.

  • I used to count my calories(800a day) and lots 40lbs. Quickly. Keeping it off was a strain, my body didn’t know how to process food. I strained so much to not gain weight, which did creep back up a bit. Now that I’m more mentally healthy in regards to food, I’m just trying to wake up my metabolism again and have a balance. Hopeful your methods will help.

  • I have been following you for a few months and I cannot thank you enough for your knowledge and for explaining everything so thoroughly! I really enjoy your videos.

  • Somewhere along the way, some whacked-out dieting guru or doctor wrote a book explaining how insulin was a storage hormone, and since it was a storage hormone it was responsible for the obesity epidemic:
“When you eat carbohydrates, your body secretes insulin. Insulin then stores those carbs as fat in the body. So if you cut out any and all forms of carbohydrates, then you won’t be releasing insulin and you’ll stop storing body fat. Once you stop eating carbs, your body will start using that fat for fuel. This will transform you from a great big ol’ fattie into a sexy fat burning machine.”
Usually there’s also something in there about how eating fat makes you burn fat too.
Here’s the issue. It’s a gross oversimplification, and it’s cherry picking the whole physiological process.

The best metaphor about insulin is that it’s a traffic cop. It tells the nutrients you’ve eaten where to go. When you eat a meal it gets broken down into the basic nutrient components. Proteins are broken down into amino acids, fats are broken down into fatty acids, and carbs are broken down into glucose.
The pancreas then secretes insulin so that these nutrients are transported into cells for storage or use. This happens every time you eat something. While insulin is directing nutrients into the cells, the fat burning mechanism gets turned off. Once insulin is done doing its job, though, fat burning can resume (assuming you’re in a caloric deficit and are using stored fat or glucose for energy).

That’s it. Yeah, yeah, there are issues about insulin sensitivity and all that, but generally speaking, eat fewer calories than you burn each day and repeat that for long enough and you’ll get leaner. But eat more calories than you burn each day, and your body will store more and more fat for “later use.”

Unless you don’t use it later. Or ever. Which is why you’re fat and you can’t blame insulin for making you that way. Nope. It’s the excess calories. Tough love is tough, but you can’t beat facts.
If you manipulate your hormones by food that you eat doesn`t mean you will not get fat if you are in a caloric surplas.

For the majority is easier to lose weight just by eating low calorie dense food 3 to 4 times a day because of the feeling of fullnes.

  • So, as someone who has a hard time eating too much or can’t help but eat what I’m craving, if I don’t count my calories I have a hard time controlling how much I eat. So what do I do if counting doesn’t work? I’ve lost weight with counting calories before.

  • If there are any ppl on here saying “shes wrong, calorie counting works”. Please check out Dr. Jason Fungs videos. He is very informative and talks A lot about this exact topic. Autumn is right in this video. Its facts, plain and simple.

  • Right. That is why the prisoners in the concentration camps in WWII gained so much weight, because they often had only bread to eat. What is wrong with this woman?

  • How is counting calories not sustainable long term? It will lead to weight loss due to the fact you can actually put a number to what you are eating. If it is not allowing weight loss you decrease the numbers. CICO is actually proven facts and is THE way to lose weight! All weight loss theory come form this. It is the LAW of thermodynamics…. SO MUCH MISS INFORMATION IN THIS VIDEO!!!

  • This is all about the history of why they were wrong about obesity, the idiot’s etc! I want latest research not a sarcastic report on the failures of the past sorry speaker!

  • In your opinion I’m 52 years old I’ve lost 160 pounds this year I had the gastric sleeve surgery. What do you think my fat grams should be carbohydrate grams should be a protein should be

  • Do nuts like Almonds, walnuts, pistachio break your fast? Lets say just handful of nuts cold really extend fasting period to 18 hours or 20 hours, but will it break my fast?

  • Glycemic index is the same for both wheat bread and for white bread, which is 74. The notion of glycemic index is outdated because you have to look at it as a glycemic load because now you’re incorporating fat and protein which is the cheese, processed or not.

Also if you’re worried about the extra 100-200 cal. Walk for 20 minutes and you’ll burn more than that?

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Yessssss…. I am losing weight through a serious lifestyle shift exercising and eating well without counting calories AT ALL! This has always been my philosophy. I am eating more now than I was at my heaviest AND I am losing weight. I am handling stress a lot better, enjoying life, and I’ve never been this happy. Just to illustrate what I mean: I went from obese class 1 to overweight WITHOUT COUNTING CALORIES and life is so good.

Definitely subscribed sis! Thank you! I love nutritionist with sound, beautiful, life-changing advice

  • My problem is trying to make sure I get enough calories. My perfect diet would be eating once every 4 days, but that doesn’t work and sounds insane to though who are hungry every few hours. I don’t eat sugar or many carbs (most carbs just from vegetables). I have no appetite. Never have, but since my husband died, really have no appetite at all.

  • OMG why does every you tuber do this mad editing where they speed talk and don’t take a breath, I really want to listen and take in what they’re saying but it drives me crazy just chat normally ‍♀️

  • I have suffered from chronic fatigue, a messed up metabolism, and adrenal issues most of my adult life. I definitely attribute this to years/decades of calorie counting, a restrictive diet and over exercising. It was the battle of the bulge. Being brainwashed into thinking calories in calories out = ideal weight. My metabolism is jacked, I sleep all the time. Seriously, 10 to 12 hours a day. I have seen so many doctors and they try to help by putting band-aids on these problems. And, even though I try, really try, I rarely have the energy to exercise properly. Since, I have changed my way of thinking, and started a clean ketogenic diet, my body has just started to heal itself. Healthy fats + proteins + micro nutrients = a happy, healthy life! NAIL ON THE HEAD GIRL! keep doing what you do!

  • Such a misleading title counting calories doesn’t slow your metabolism or halt weight loss. This is simply your body’s adaption from reduced energy intake, otherwise… if you kept losing the same amount of weight every month you would be dead in a matter of time. You would wither away into nothing. Also the insulin hypothesis is incorrect. If I were to give you 200 calories of sugar every day and that’s all you would eat, you would lose weight, what happens to your insulin is irrelevant. As an extreme example, look at POWs, these guys are fed very little bread or potatoes and are forced to work extreme hours. Your insulin hypothesis would suggest they shouldn’t lose any weight, cause you know, it’s a storage hormone…. ultimately if you burn more than what ever you consume, you will lose weight

  • What if I count calories AND eat healthy, unprocessed foods? The way I see it, when I reach my target weight, I won’t go back to eating bad, processed foods like I used to, I will simply keep eating the same thing except a little bit more since I won’t be aiming to lose but simply not gain. Does that make any sense? I’m genuinely curious. I am counting calories because it gives me a feeling of being in control, whereas if I was not, I could overeat calories, even with good foods! So far, it is working great and I have not have any cravings nor am I hungry and I believe, perhaps falsely so, that it is because I eat good foods. Thoughts? Any help appreciated!!!

  • But isn’t cutting carbs essentially caloric restriction (aka dieting)? Also, isn’t glucose (derived from whole foods, like fruit) our body’s preferred fuel source?

  • “science backed means” and “Holistic methods” do not belong together. Your BMR reduces as your body mass reduces…that’s physics. If you do not reduce your calories as you lose weight… you stop losing weight. It’s not confusing to think that a body at 200lbs uses less energy than a body at 250lbs.

Obviously your content is not for me, but some of your ideals you’re preaching will hurt people. You claim to be science based but your oversimplification of some of these topics is insane. Counting calories is very much a useful tool, not just to hit a number. Its useful to make people think about what they are eating and how much. Claiming it will cause you to GAIN weight with 0 evidence while citing “science” as one of your driving ideals is disingenuous. Counting Calories is a tool anyone who is counting calories without paying any attention to macro nutrients is using the tool wrong.

If you’re 300lbs who lives on twinkies, yes reducing your twinkie calories will see a short term loss of weight, calories in = calories out. However it does NOTHING for the obvious food addiction and malnutrition that the person is obviously suffering. Which is why the weight comes back. You can find sources all over the internet that explain this in great detail. Legitimate ones… that actually show the studies and science behind their information.

The biggest loser contestants did indeed gain their weight back, because they were put on nearly life threatening diets with nearly life threatening amounts of exercise. They were monitored daily by doctors to make sure they didn’t drop dead or have a cardiac crisis. Their hormones were destroyed and they were given absolutely no support or training for what to do after the show was over. You can find interviews with contestants who explain exactly how they ended up gaining the weight back, its not a mystery.

So far as I can tell this channel just wants to copy the nonsense of the Thomas Delauer variety. Spin information to suit their needs and look pretty for the camera. “follow my fad because it worked for me but I can’t be bothered to properly explain homeostasis and how it affects weight loss”.

Judging by your engagement your audience has already figured this all out though.

  • Hi Autumn! So glad I have discovered your channel! I have lost about 55 pounds this year but I KNOW I have eaten to little and my metabolism is probably messed up….how can I try to reverse that without gaining weight? I am slowly but surely eating more clean food but Im petrified of gaining!! Must mention that I’m 56 years old so my hormones counts against me!

  • Ridiculous. I’ve counted calories for literally years. People act like fasting isn’t a form of calorie restriction. At the end of the day, three laws of thermodynamics cannot be broken. Energy in vs energy out. Period.

  • He is quite a confused person..He just speaks out the crammed material form a physiology book and doesnt make his point crystal clear..Scammers are all over the youtube

  • For those who say that “calories don’t matter,” or conversely, that being in a deficit is all that matters when it comes to “losing weight,” I’d challenge both groups to do nothing but drink water for three weeks.  It will become apparent very quickly that both calories and essential micronutrients matter.  These people will lose weight rapidly and look like shit.  THE END.

  • Hi Nick. Great videos, I have one question. What do you think about idea that you should eat 5 times per day, lets say every 2-3 hours? I ‘ve heard from some people that if you don’t eat this frequently your metabolism slows down and you start gaining weight. Thanks.

  • None of this is hard go to the gym eat protein and little carbs job done! The key is consistency! And look at your total calories in vs out not day by day that is wrong but over a week or so!! People make it hard due to being lazy.

  • I really dont like counting calories cause it stresses me out and I gained a bunch of weight after loosing it. I started to write it down in a journal right before I go to bed, I was wondering, do you get really sleepy when your body goes on starvation mode? because I didn’t have any energy for anything for a while I literally come home and just want to lay down:(

  • Hi Autumn, can you suggest what’s the best way to increase our BMR? I think I slows down my metabolism by counting calories from my previous diet before i get to watch your youtube channel

  • What is the sex drive like on Keto? It seems to be any issue for many if Internet forums are anything to go by. Not criticising. Just the one reason that scares me away from it.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!
This is SO timely! My sister was just telling me not to count calories LAST NIGHT!; I’d been watching a lot of my fitness gurus and that’s all they’ve been preaching for months, so I was super conflicted.

I lost 60lbs a few years ago (and gained it all back slowly over the next 2), but I never counted a single calorie. My issue was that I didn’t have a well rounded training plan, which I do now based on my personal goals:)

    Again, thank you sooo much!!

  • Great video thanks. I’ve been following Dr. Jason Fung and yeah he advocates the same thing. He says 100 calories of broccoli is not = to 100 calories of a donut. So true what you’re saying.
