    Truly love this one.

    Thank Layne!

  • I agree that the total calorie intake through out the day is what counts, but eating 3 times or 2 times a day with no snacks between meals are better. Because most food trigger insulin response (specially carbs (refined), sugar and protein). And if insulin is high, fats are harder to burn and you will be burning sugar instead. And if you burn sugar, you’ll be craving for more sugary foods.

  • This video is very helpful because I always hear some of these myths. Drinking water before I eat has always been stuck in my head. I always drink like half of a glass before I eat. So happy I saw one of your workout videos and did it. Now I am watching all of them to help me make better choices on what I eat.

  • I’ve only been growing my hair for 4 months and I don’t feel like it anymore… I look so stupid…. how am I going to hold on 2 years? Jesus sry my english is a little bit dumb

  • I don’t know much about you. But have watched your few workout videos which shows you’re a fitness trainer. Having said that have few doubts on workouts. Could you please answer below questions which I have in my mind to achieve my fitness goals?.
    1. What time should I workout in the morning?
    2. What time should I workout in the evening?
    3. Is warm up and cool down important before and after workout?
    4. Is warm up and cool down necessary for short time workouts say for example 5 minutes or 10 minutes?
    5. How to recover our legs soon after leg workout?
Hope I get answers for these questions soon.

  • I started to workout and have a proper diet and lost my boobs and butt:,,,(
Could you help me Joanna Soh?? Thank you so much for your videos!!

  • Hey, thanks for the content!

If i understood right, that oil is to prevent the split ends of the hair. Do exist some other way to fix this problem or just cutting out?

  • Love your videos. You truly have taken the time to do the research, and you do an amazing job explaining it so easily for everyone to understand. Thank you!

  • Yawn. People, if you swim 2,000 yards a day you can eat and drink whatever you want. Carbs, soda, cake, burgers… just swim 2k miles a day and you’ll be ripped in no time. This whole eat broccoli and chicken everynight is a waste of life. As humans we’re are supposed to eat! Not nit pick and eat carrots all day lol

  • I’m 56 menopausal I’m on keto diet I’ve stopped getting hot flushes I can’t eat bread as I get reflux pasta biscuits any dairy products I drink 1 litre of water a day not guzzle it quickly but sip it I don’t drink coffee as much so ladies hope this helps you will find you will drop weight Good luck God bless❤

  • “Myth #4” isn’t really a myth. When people say all calories are the same, they don’t mean to say that all those FOODS are the same. They obviously aren’t. A calorie is simply a unit of food energy. The nutrients you get in exchange for those calories is another story, but the calories in and of themselves are the same in that, they just measure how much energy the foods give you.

  • One of the other things that I have heard is that you must feel the pain in your muscles after workout like muscle soreness otherwise you won’t lose weight. I don’t know if it’s true.

  • Everything you said is what my fitness trainer (who’s also my fiancé) told me a couple of days ago but I still came here for a woman’s perspective!

  • I’ve said it before, but I absolutely love that these videos are based on scientific studies! That’s how people should make videos of this kind.

  • Great to watch a video where the (female) you tuber not only knows how to truly get the facts across but isn’t in some skimpy outfit trying to draw more attention to ‘herself’ rather than what she’s saying.

  • This video is very helpful because I always hear some of these myths. Drinking water before I eat has always been stuck in my head. I always drink like half of a glass before I eat. So happy I saw one of your workout videos and did it. Now I am watching all of them to help me make better choices on what I eat.

  • Thank you for this video. I found it really helpful. I used to believe one or two mythys you said. Now I am focusing more on intensity rather than time of my work outs

  • hey Layne, i had massive stomach pains twice in a week, and then the 2nd time i went to hospital. had blood tests done, pretty much long story short it said i had pancreatitis? and nurse also said my lipase levels were 6000, super high! thats why i was in alot of pain in the stomach, now i know your not my doctor but i trust you i know you have tones of research of creatine and protein. they also said my creatanine levels or how ever you spell it lol were high too. they said i should stop taking creatine, and possibly protein, but i know the protein bit is wrong. and i dont drink alcohol often, and i dont smoke, and nutrition is good! im just confussed on what to do, should i stop taking creatine? just incase? sorry for the long message, really hope u reply back, thanks! matt

  • I WISH i ad known that Dr. Fahn would speak at the Symposium. He is Doug Hoover;s good friend and ours. I would have been there!!! I agree that agonists are “agony”…!!

  • Hey Layne does eating meat, eggs, saturated fat animal products etc. raise cholesterol? A lot of well known youtubers in FAVOR of consuming animal products actually argue that they do raise cholesterol howver that this is not a bad thing at all and is beneficial for muscle building and testosterone. Where do you stand on this?

  • Brother loved your protein metabolism series really, watched it twice and recommended to other people also, they all had their confusions and doubts cleared off..

  • Hi let me tell u one thing u should not take antibiotics in small small things like common cold your body is strong enough to fight these. And yes u should take antibiotics only when doctor’s tell u, if he has given antibiotics in common cold that’s ok but it’s very dangerous to take antibiotics everytime u have some problems.
Antibiotics overuse can cause some serious problems.
    Hope this helps u.

  • I also read another benefit to working out early in the day before you eat is that less work on your body to carry oxygen to the parts of your body that is used.

  • Damn, the audio is so low. I can barely hear you. It’s not the first time. The content is so awesome, it would be nice to hear it a little louder:)

  • NGL I used to believe a lot of these too!

Well, The poopoo beetle can pull it bodyweight bout 1142 (maybe) times

  • That kidney test is exactly what I did including a renal scan. My creatinine was elevated. Guy did the first test without fasting after I ate a huge piece of beef of around 10 oz. or so. It was elevated to nearly 2 as I went to the doctor 3 or 4 hours later. I went through a battery of tests. Next blood test it dropped to 1.32, barely outside the normal range. It’s been there the entire time with no other kidney impairment signs. I read extensively on the problem and found the information you just gave. Doctors are smart folks. But they are not all specialists and don’t understand the readings for all types of diets and people. You have to make sure to work with the doctor to monitor your health.

  • WOOOOOOW This is the 2nd video of yours that I have watched and I feel like I just consulted with a nutritionist and personal trainer. WOW The way she explains is better than 99% of the people I have spoken to and books I have read. I plan on watching her daily from now on.

  • Completely changed my mind about blow drying my hair. I usually let it air dry… 3 months into growing my hair out and a long way to go, but I’ve seen some great progress so far!

  • The blowdryer is Like a gun the Hair, it’s kill the Hair, i Never use blowdryer, I only use towel to dry ma hair, Keep Up man ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤, The information are really benefits

  • We’re currently doing a challenge at my company to move at least 30 minutes a day, it’s a competition between groups of individuals and all workouts are worth an equal amount. I’ve moved more these past 4 weeks than the entire rest of spring. Probably because I’m a competitive bastard. The made to move it challenge sounds great, is it possible to join later than June 1st? My company’s challenge finishes on June 15th.

Before i got back on track i had began eating less than 800 kcal a day. That worked for a while and i had lost 2.5 kg but then weight loss became way slower and some days i even gained weight!

  • I definitely have that balding genetics and probably will go bald before 40 like most men in our family.. Surely going to take care of my hair and let it grow while I can

  • Keep making these Layne you are one of the best in the industry. I love how you present the facts an are not spreading made up nonsense which other just make up

  • I just started watching your videos from today and I’m already fallen in love with them. They are really affective and so….. Informative. I’m gonna start my journey from tomorrow. Thank you for motivating me

  • I use to feel the same way that my husband was trying to keep me fat by bring cookies, cake, icecream etc. In our home and I would give him a piece of my mind. Lol!! Well, I started following his workouts and food routine that included all those sweets just to see if it would work for me. Well, I’m 40 lbs lighter with 50 more pounds to go. I don’t eat the portion sizes he eats, but I have learned to eat smaller portions and he wasn’t trying to sabotage my weightloss. Lol!!
    Sorry babe!

  • So encouraging. I walk every day. I work out, I eat pretty well, and I’m pretty close to where I want to be (still trying to build strength). But the daily walks (sometimes two or three of them if I can) are not about goals. I just feel great, my head clears, I notice the changing skies, the birds, the quiet, and often I listen to music that inspires me. I enjoy my whole body, mind, and heart when I can take daily quiet walks in the woods or neighborhood. Thanks for the reminders.

  • I just discovered Joanna Soh today and boy was her workout tough! I can usually finish a workout video to the end but not hers. I’ll definately be following her for my weight lost journey.

  • Good stuff. BMI and what you should weigh crack me up. If I’m lean and healthy, I don’t care if I weigh 500 lbs. I see too many people that are at a “healthy” weight but have way too much body fat. I lost over 100 lbs of fat and used to be obese and I tell people that the mirror doesn’t lie, the scale does!

  • I started to workout and have a proper diet and lost my boobs and butt:,,,(
Could you help me Joanna Soh?? Thank you so much for your videos!!

  • Hello,
I have a question my natural hair condition of my front hair is starting somehow wavy then becoming straight. Besides, i didn’t do any straightening treatment recently. Therefore, how can i fix that so the hair will start straight as the rest of it. Thank you

  • Once the sunsets the ability to digest food simmers down thats the reason people restrict their dinners to 7 pm, people who do yoga eat their last meal of the day at 5pm

  • I have always been told by dieticians that I need to eat something within 30 minutes of waking up to jumpstart my metabolism. Is this true?

  • Your videos are so educational, I feel like I should have to pay for them. You kill it with citing recent research, illustrating it, and synthesizing it. Love you!

  • I just discovered Joanna Soh today and boy was her workout tough! I can usually finish a workout video to the end but not hers. I’ll definately be following her for my weight lost journey.

  • This video is so helpful! Too bad I learned some of them hard way:”)
The thing is with maintaining fitness is you NEED to love it! At first I restricted my diet so much and resulted on me binging on my cheat day… Now I’m kinda let myself loose a bit, enjoying foods that I want in small serving sizes:)

  • “Start showing up for yourself before other people show up for you.”
That hit me like a freight train. Thank you, Abby, love your videos! You’re brilliant.

  • Overall I love your content. Please make note that potatoes, legumes, beans, fruit and grains can make blood sugar spike and can cause cravings for those who have bodies sensitive to these foods.

  • I am 18, I experienced some hairfall while I was in my teenage years and had really bad hair texture, now my hear is soft and thick and doesn’t fall but my hair has thinned at temple but I haven’t seen any noticeable progress towards thinning or Balding for over an year now. So is my hair gonna stay now?

  • Here’s a F A C T for ya: The strongest creature is the Dung Beetle

  • I wish I had known about the fitness-fatigue model when I started my fitness journey. I used to be so disappointed when I wasn’t sore the day after a workout. Thanks for sharing this, Abby! I appreciate your incorporation of evidence-based recommendations and love that you cite your sources. I wish all fitness youtubers did that!

  • I believe that even with the same hair type, each person has different metabolism, so the treatments should totally individual! Awesome video!!! Good info, sense of humor, understandable language, really nice!

  • Can I ask a question? Is it possible to burn fat from some arias like thighs without losing weight from another arias like the face?

  • I’ve jsut discovered your channel and I really like it!, I like that you show the research behind why those myths are false, I’ve just signed up for the challenge haha

  • Excellent video with current advice
What is your guidance on SSRI and Nuplizid? We stopped Lexapro due to pharmacist recommendation. By the way, the Nuplizid has helped greatly.

  • I just started watching your videos from today and I’m already fallen in love with them. They are really affective and so….. Informative. I’m gonna start my journey from tomorrow. Thank you for motivating me

  • For myself personally I find it easier to meal prep that way I only worry about what I will be eating for one day then I will meal prep for Monday-Friday which is my work week and then Saturday I just stick to my diet and Sunday is my cheat day. I struggle with a eating disorder so it helps me sometimes I don’t eat all my food which is okay I can only try my best, I’ve gone from thinking about food and being scared of certain foods 24/7 7 days a week to thinking about food for only one day and thinking of it when I eat I’ve improved a lot although I am still scared of a lot of foods cheese being the main one. I’ve over come a lot and your videos really do help thanks for coming to my ted talk

  • I love this; I also make sure I’m moving my body at least SOME every day. I think the only days I don’t exercise at all are when I push myself way too hard the day before (on accident, usually) or the first day of my period, but otherwise, gotta move. Yoga is a blessing for lazy days:)

  • I love how you said “honor your body with activity every day”. This is such a healthy way to look at exercise! It’s not just about getting the body you want but it’s also about doing something healthy for your body and yourself! Love it, thanks for this

  • A really good tip is choose a couple of foods that you like, and stick to them, it just makes life so much easier and you don’t have to worry much about what to eat blah blah.

  • “if you consume less than what you burn you lose weight”… Wow my body is magic I guess. Tracking calories and I’m 500 under what I burn every day for months. And no sugary junk food. Still holding my weight no matter what.

  • Please, I am struggling with the addiction to bad foods. By day 4 I am irritable and craving is too strong. I also am struggling finding healthy/affordable meals to make for my family of 6. So discouraged.

  • I stopped working out a month or 4 ago. I see no result i cant push myself. And i hate 45min workouts dont have time for those. But 20min workout wont get me anywhere i guess. I cant seem to get back into it but im started to be repulsed by my body

  • Yo Trav, can you do a vid on the different hair profiles next? Especially the difference between them and how to best care for them

  • Time stamps
-You need to train every day ( 0:58)
-If you eat like so-and-so, you will look like so-and-so ( 2:46)
-You need to feel sore after every workout ( 5:33)
-You need to plan every meal, workout and be laser-focused ( 7:35)
-You need to do it alone ( 10:12)

  • I also read another benefit to working out early in the day before you eat is that less work on your body to carry oxygen to the parts of your body that is used.

  • Yeah I mean, It’s very stressful and heartbreaking when you train so hard for weeks to grow the muscle a little bit, but with a couple of days of a bad training all of that work just go away I’ve been starting all over again about 6 times since I began this journey two years ago

    Srry my English

  • Hey! Love your videos; was just curious where you find the studies your reference in your vids? I’d love to read some more of them, but don’t really know where to go!

  • As i said before, i love the laid back and filterless attitude youv adopted this year. Effortless and pleasent to watch, loaded with vast knowledge broken down into simple words that anyone can understand videos.
    Keep it up brother.

  • I would love to see you get a nutrition degree! You’re so good a teaching and I feel like you would really excel as a dietician or nutritionist with a focus in fitness!!

  • I have been on my fitness journey for about 3 years and am still no where near my goal. HOWEVER I’m still not giving up. Little/slow progress is better than NOTHING

  • Will you please please make a video about going back to the gym after a small break. I haven’t had a hard workout since quarantine started and the gym is going to open soon. I know I shouldn’t just jump right back in

  • If I had $1 each time someone told me they’re fat because they have a bad metabolism or that someone else is thin because they have a good metabolism I’d be building my own palace right now. I wish I could automatically link 3:50 to every single one of them.
Unless pathology is involved everyone is ruled by CICO.

  • That last myth got me to me man. Its literally me I struggle with that bad mentality sometimes & I try so hard to change that & have more faith in myself but I still have my moments some days. I have lost weight don’t get me wrong but not in the way I wanted. I still have stubborn fat & I feel like my skin has become loose & that really makes me feel really insecure. As of right now I’m struggle to balance work & working out but I just keep falling off track & its making me feel more & more discouraged & disappointed in myself.

P.s. sorry for my long rant that probably nobody even wants to know about . Btw absolutely love the video Abby.

  • thank you SO much for making this challenge! Watching a video is not enough sometimes, having someone who knows what they’re doing helps Immensely! Not to mention its free! I am so hyped for this month now

  • Abby’s great the first of the month, gift of positivity from Abby, if you Accept requests, AYBL leggins haul please. Thanks And HUGS

  • You. Speak. Too. Fast. Please. Slow. Down. Me. Need. Time. To. Process. Everything. You. Say. It. Is. Quite. Complicated. For. My. Brain. Help. Me. To. Understand. You. Better.:) THANK YOU

  • Abby, I don’t know if you read this book almost feels like you did, but everything you’re referencing like small wins to build habits, willpower fatigue, are explained really well in Power of Habit. It’s a very well written, scientific book that goes through a few case studies, and i think you would enjoy it quite a bit. Also, thank you for being you and everything you do. You have guided me through my fitness journey for the past three years and i appreciate all of your guidance. Thank you for it all.

  • I came from the Chloe Ting challenge, after my roommate urged me into doing further research on proper fitness techniques.

I really enjoy the science and in depth explanations on everything and I’ve signed up for the program! Already seeing results from body weight exercises but looking forward to proper form and further results!

  • Hey, I think I love you.
I love that you use science journals and that you mentioned the belief system. You’re amazing, keep being you.

  • Keep making these Layne you are one of the best in the industry. I love how you present the facts an are not spreading made up nonsense which other just make up

  • NGL I used to believe a lot of these too!

  • Sometimes I’ll put on my gym clothes, drink pre-workout and stand facing the mirror ready for a warm-up, see all the fat on my arms, my hip dips, and walk right out of the room to go eat to feel better. Then crawl into bed.

  • you literally have become my favorite youtuber! i love all your videos and your so inspirational and you keep me motivated

  • Every men în my family started getting bold at around 24 so i (18) started to grow my hair at 17 just to have fun with it before i lose it.

  • Thank you for this video. I found it really helpful. I used to believe one or two mythys you said. Now I am focusing more on intensity rather than time of my work outs

  • I have never seen anyone hit the nail on the head as well as you do. I feel like 99% of fitness content out there is incredibly tunneled, focusing ONLY on one aspect of health be it nutrition, muscle growth, cardio, metabolism, fasting, etc. and completely disregard everything else related to that one aspect.

Abby truly advocates for health as a LIFESTYLE, which encompasses so many facets that people can’t keep track of and honestly shouldn’t keep track of. And while a lot of fitness influencers claim to use science to back up their facts, they often isolate scientific facts or studies, while Abby includes the entire scientific process and analyzes multiple aspects of scientific studies to make sure they’re accurate.

  • Wow thank you. I haven’t been feeling sore lately and I was wondering if I needed to up the intensity or workout longer. That makes me feel better though that I can still get results without being sore every time.

  • holy shit ive been doing my calories wrong. ive been taking my BMR+amount i burn from exercise and make that my calores for the day..

  • Every men în my family started getting bold at around 24 so i (18) started to grow my hair at 17 just to have fun with it before i lose it.

  • I was surprised about the hair blower thing… Im always air drying my hair and its too frizzy. Pls talk about it more on a separate video. Thanks Trav.

  • Hello,
I have a question my natural hair condition of my front hair is starting somehow wavy then becoming straight. Besides, i didn’t do any straightening treatment recently. Therefore, how can i fix that so the hair will start straight as the rest of it. Thank you

  • Can you please make a video on top drug store sulphate free shampoo and conditioner please cheap ones international brands please just make one video

  • Yo Trav, can you do a vid on the different hair profiles next? Especially the difference between them and how to best care for them

  • Completely changed my mind about blow drying my hair. I usually let it air dry… 3 months into growing my hair out and a long way to go, but I’ve seen some great progress so far!

  • Can I ask a question? Is it possible to burn fat from some arias like thighs without losing weight from another arias like the face?

  • I definitely have that balding genetics and probably will go bald before 40 like most men in our family.. Surely going to take care of my hair and let it grow while I can

  • The blowdryer is Like a gun the Hair, it’s kill the Hair, i Never use blowdryer, I only use towel to dry ma hair, Keep Up man ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤, The information are really benefits

  • Been watching your videos for years now but this is the first time I’m wanted to comment.

I have the utmost respect for you as a woman. The dedication, the effort, the self-awareness, the mindfulness, the, Integrity that you uphold in a multifaceted way, nobody’s perfect but I think you should feel really proud of yourself not just as an athlete’s but as a woman and a human being. as I’ve watched your channel for so long now, it’s apparent that you strive to be a better version of you than the day before in every aspect of your life and help others women and myself also strive
    For the same.

You are a beautiful beacon of positivity in this community and I hope you choose to stay for a while.

    With love & appreciation❤

  • Everything has to be dependent on the individual,I have thick wavy type hair and I shouldn’t use a blow dryer,so yeah each to his own

  • Can you please make a video on top drug store sulphate free shampoo and conditioner please cheap ones international brands please just make one video

  • Hey Trav, not so sure about that argument that semen retention increases testosterone. I mean we know that having sex regularly does, therefore you’ll most likely ejaculate somewhat often and be increasing test levels… From the research I’ve read, non sex ejaculation (jerking off) doesn’t help with testosterone. I know this isn’t the main point of the video but as guys is something important nevertheless so just wanted to touch on that. Keep it up man love your content!

  • I just clicked this video because I’m just starting to get into the habit of moving again after a longer break, and when you told about your challenge, it just made my day =) I’m looking forward so much to start moving more again, and I hope it will get easier and feel safer, with your community to guide me. Thank you so much <3

  • Excellent video with current advice
What is your guidance on SSRI and Nuplizid? We stopped Lexapro due to pharmacist recommendation. By the way, the Nuplizid has helped greatly.

  • Hey Abby, as a medical student I believe the intestinal absorption of macronutrients is also quite variable from individual to individual, and that could also explain why some people seem to eat their whole weight in food and not actually get fat (a lot of what they ingest ends up being excreted in the faeces).
I happen to know a lot of people who are pretty sedentary and yet extremely skinny, so I don’t think that’s mostly due to the calories they burn as you say in the video (I hope I didn’t misinterpret it ).
However, it’s important to emphasize that this is also not as good as it may seem, since these people have a lot more trouble getting the nutrients they need from food and also tend to have a poor diet since they don’t get fat anyways.

  • Brother loved your protein metabolism series really, watched it twice and recommended to other people also, they all had their confusions and doubts cleared off..

  • hey Layne, i had massive stomach pains twice in a week, and then the 2nd time i went to hospital. had blood tests done, pretty much long story short it said i had pancreatitis? and nurse also said my lipase levels were 6000, super high! thats why i was in alot of pain in the stomach, now i know your not my doctor but i trust you i know you have tones of research of creatine and protein. they also said my creatanine levels or how ever you spell it lol were high too. they said i should stop taking creatine, and possibly protein, but i know the protein bit is wrong. and i dont drink alcohol often, and i dont smoke, and nutrition is good! im just confussed on what to do, should i stop taking creatine? just incase? sorry for the long message, really hope u reply back, thanks! matt

  • I have always been told by dieticians that I need to eat something within 30 minutes of waking up to jumpstart my metabolism. Is this true?

  • Overall I love your content. Please make note that potatoes, legumes, beans, fruit and grains can make blood sugar spike and can cause cravings for those who have bodies sensitive to these foods.

  • Once the sunsets the ability to digest food simmers down thats the reason people restrict their dinners to 7 pm, people who do yoga eat their last meal of the day at 5pm

  • Damn, the audio is so low. I can barely hear you. It’s not the first time. The content is so awesome, it would be nice to hear it a little louder:)
