  • Real weight loss winners are those who understand what it takes to keep it off. I have struggled with my weight for many years because when I would reach my goal, I fell into the old habits trap.
    Now I realize its about changing your eating habits for good.
    Its always been easy for me to reach my goal weight but I recognize this time that I can’t eat frozen pizza, Pop Tarts, potato chips anymore. Instead of a sandwich with processed lunch meat, I use meat I cooked at home.Instead of chips I eat nuts and instead of sugary baked goods I eat fruit. I do allow myself a candy bar once in awhile.

I’ve recently watched an Australian documentary ABC Science regarding our gut biome in our large intestine. Processed foods and sugar are the same to me now. As they both spike insulin but going a bit deeper, poor quality food and sugar feeds the poor bacteria and this is directly linked to the hormone insulin spikes as well. Within a week of no fast food this young gymnast was no longer on his way to insulin resistance. I want to master this nutritional knowledge as best I can for sustainable health.   • I’ve been experimenting on losing weight and the main thing is anything pasta, bread (any sort ), processed food, oils (any sort ) all those diets that they advertise for $$$$$ are garbage, For ten years I studied me and others on food consumption and noticed patterns in illnesses, but it is up to you and you alone to eat smart.

  • While it’s important to point out that this video has a lot of incorrect information in it, there is some truth to what’s being said. Your body doesn’t necessarily have a “set point”, because our bodies have no concept of mass and/or weight but it does have a set level of calories that it burns every day. If you eat under that, your body/brain is going to tell you that it’s hungry (like the empty fuel analogy the video uses). The part the video fails to mention, is that there’s nothing forcing you to eat if you’re hungry, you can ignore that feeling for a pretty long period of time. The other factor that influences our hunger is the body’s production of the ‘hunger hormone’, Ghrelin. For efficiencies sake, our body produces ghrelin at similar times throughout the day because it gets used to when we tend to eat. That being said, you can retrain your body to produce more or less ghrelin by eating more or less food. So over time, if you eat less, your body will produce less ghrelin. The video is also correct in saying that as you lose mass (weight, lbs or kgs), your body burns less calories. However, that isn’t so that your body can maintain weight at a ‘set point’, it’s because it requires less energy to move a smaller amount of mass.
