  • The horizontal cuts make no sense: the onion is already ‘horizontally cut’ by nature. This one is repeated by even the most skilled and classically trained chefs but does not stand up to examination, probably as classically trained chefs are taught by rote. BTW a beet can be cooked in a microwave, wrapped in kitchen paper, for 4 mins, or so and left to stand: perfect beet for salad.

  • Frozen gummy bears are not pleasant. I try to tell my kids that every time we go to the shop that has a thousand items to mix in.

  • Lame. The only one worth a damn was the very last one, the pineapple slicing.. still, thought she was going to slice her fingers, smh.

  • Lame. The only one worth a damn was the very last one, the pineapple slicing.. still, thought she was going to slice her fingers, smh.

  • Oh yeah cause everyone has time to do that when they get home cook dinner clean the kitchen up do a load of laundry do homework do your own homework take showers read stories and pass the fuck out!! Quick and easy fuck these people!!

  • For all friends from other countries besides Indonesia, let’s stop by our channel, lots of interesting videos too, and later we will drop by greeting our channels from Indonesia

  • Frozen gummy bears are not pleasant. I try to tell my kids that every time we go to the shop that has a thousand items to mix in.

  • Most people on a budget make casseroles. We work 12 hour days, come home and decide on fish sticks with instant mashed potatoes and canned or frozen peas. Or canned tomato soup and grilled cheese. Ramsey is so out of reality as to how or what Americans eat! We don’t make fresh pasta, we don’t grill fish or make our own spaghetti sauce. The end!

  • Great idea in terms of just pressing the gnocchi down with your finger. Here, in Uruguay, where I live, they presume to be very professional, by rolling the little pieces of dough on the twines of a fork. If you don’t prick your fingers first and stain the gnocchi with blood, you will get the gnocchi with something like some indented lines on them. Besides, you are supposed to give them a kind of flip as they are about to get them off the fork which will give them a sort of indenture. Too complicated and boring if you are cooking for a large family. Besides, to bring you luck, they must be eaten on the 29th of every month and put a 100 pesos bill under the plate, in order to allow prosperity until you get your next paycheck… Unbelievable!!! But most people do it.

  • 5:10 Its Already Made,Why are you Putting It In the microwave again,Huh?I’m Confused. I Just realized that All of them are Actually Made when they got Put in..

  • If ricotta is too expensive for you, just buy whey (it’s really really cheap), heat it, turn off gas just before it starts boiling and add few table spoons of lemon juice. Stir and leave overnight, strain. And you have ricotta, this cheese is made from leftovers from making cheese.
About veggies, buy them fresh only in season, when they’re cheapest, and use frozen in other months (it’s not only cheaper, but in season they’re better)

  • Idk why I fall for it everytime? My broke ass sees ‘on a budget’ and clicks and then I remember its Gordon Ramsay we’re talking about

  • Cutting onions horizontally is something idiots do the real way to cut an onion so its all uniform wheter its a small dice, slice, or brunoise cut the onion into quarters and cut the core out so the onion can sit on your cutting board flat than slice and then cut slices to your desired size boom now all your onions are the exact same size

  • I dont understand… I am 51, from Spain, most impontantly, from a region called Álava, known for the potatos.. When I was little, there was just potatos… When did they start to be different??

  • Hello, I’m the guest here, but I like your show, it’s something like a great teaching school with a chef at the kitchen. Thank you guys for your work’s.

  • Is this a tv show or something they made for youtube?? I need more vegetarian recipe ideas you have no idea how miserably limited my diet is because I don’t like things apparently. That’s not exactly true but my taste is… I don’t even know, just fucked up. My whole body is fucked up from years of really bad anorexia and I’m trying so hard to heal but sometimes it feels so impossible because something happened within that time and now I always feel nauseous around most foods because everything seems unappetizing I wanted to be a vegetarian since I was in 7th grade but wasn’t able to commit. Being anorexic made that easy. Even though I’m trying to heal from Ana, I still enjoy being a vegetarian but have no idea how to actually be one, all I know how to do is not eat..

  • What I like most about your series is that you’re mindful of creative financial objectives. You’ve begun to change my mind about spoiled entitled ” milleniulls”. Your concepts are much bigger than food and feeding people ( =Huge) they would apply to most budget spending issues in our country today. I don’t mean cheap product but finding value in simplicity.

  • When cooking a steak, cook it to just under how well you want it done, then wrap it in tinfoil and let it rest for a couple minutes. You will have a perfectly cooked steak that is the most tender and juicy you can get.
When baking with baking soda use a bit of lemon juice or vinegar (unless the recipe already calls for it) as an acid is required to active the soda.
Everything you bake/roast/broil should be baked at LEAST until there is a light golden tinge to it as this will bring out the flavors a lot more.

  • i have never known a chef to whip egg whites to replace cream.

also, have you ever whipped mash potato? it turns into wallpaper paste

  • The freezing baguette trick is not good if you slice lengthwise in the middle for freezing because the inside would be so dry when you reheat later. Just microwave them for ten seconds then put in the oven and voila`. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

  • someone ought to teach you Brits how to flip a damn egg over… had y’all learned that skill maybe you’d have not lost your empire. There’s no way to know I’m wrong for sure, just saying.

  • Where are the recipes? He explains the ingredients, but gives no measurements. All I know is he put two potatoes and one egg into the gnocchi.

  • i love all of your videos…but i will say I think you MUST elaborated on the TOMATO TARTE TATIN you are definately on to something amazing!!

  • This episode so far is redeeming him. The last one I saw with the lamb and saffron and capers and anchovies I was just shaking my head. Yes I make enough money I can cook that but on a tight budget? This veg meal episode is so much better. There are some real good ideas here. Edit: Sigh, he used vanilla bean. No one on a budget can afford that.

  • No way he cooks at home. I know he’s a great chef, but I bet it’s been a while since he spent a day in a kitchen. Any kitchen. Vanilla bean and parmesan on a budget? The culinary budget on his secondary yacht, he means.

  • When cooking a steak, cook it to just under how well you want it done, then wrap it in tinfoil and let it rest for a couple minutes. You will have a perfectly cooked steak that is the most tender and juicy you can get.

  • the pork ribs would be equivspent of 300 $ in my country..the trolley will be almost 900$..and I live in a backward 3d world country in AFRICA where average wage is 250 $ a month

  • Adding oil to the pasta water really bothers me. Like, do you plan on serving your pasta with sauce? Yes? Do you want the sauce to stick to your pasta? Why not?

  • Sweet christ what do they put on those carrots in america thats about 4 times as big as a normal one, that or you are both hobbits

  • To keep bread from forming icy crystals in the freezer, place the plastic bags in a brown paper bag and close it. Amazing how it works.

  • If you start crying while cutting onions then sip some water and hold it in your mouth while cutting and the tears will go away….

  • I always wondered, why make horizontal lines in the onion? It’s structured in layers anyway. Just make the lengthwise ones and slice the onion, you’ll get the same result.

  • When you eat chilli the whole point is to be hot, that`s why i eat them, otherwise use bell peppers, it`s the same taste without the spiciness

  • 1:59 I’ve been doing this for years. I usually, take the quantity of bread I wish to eat at breakfast the night before and place it inside a tupperware with a sheet of absorbing papel for eventual humidity. In the morning, the bread is fresh, soft and yummy.

  • As far as the potatoes in hot water go. “New potatoes” start from boiling because they’re not as tough and “old potatoes” start from cold water. New potatoes are spring and summer and old are fall and winter harvested

  • 4:49 When life gives you lemons, squeeze a lime.

5:06 I usually drip a drop of water off of my fingertip into the oil. If the oil hits the ceiling, its ready to use.

(Just kidding on the water drop. Dont do it!)

  • If you’re on a budget, you eat instant ramen or some canned tuna with crackers. Veggies are too expensive. Then he goes and uses a whole vanilla bean. Lmao Gordon is awesome.

  • Thumbnail shows how to cut onions correctly doesnt even show that part during the vid.

Putting a bowl upside down just waste the EGGS! You coulda said “just whisk it until it turns white and fluffy.” Also if ya didnt want red spicy pepper you shoulda bought red bell pepper i regret watching this.

  • Loved this video guys, love your channel. I was especially interested in your pickled veggies, do you think that you might be able to make a video focusing on pickling? Or at least give us a base pickling formula/recipe?

  • I mean…I like you guys. But when i see that you are touching your self during cooking (like..hair,arm pits arms…thats ugly guys, awful) and put the same spoon after tasting..? Damn. Im barfing. Please stop. I was a fan and then i stoppeed. I will not watch your videos. Peace!

  • Why make horizontal cuts on an onion? It already has multiple layers so the horizontal cuts are completely unnecessary. I could understand horizontal cuts on a turnip or a potato but don’t even bother doing it with an onion. Oh and leave the root on so the onion stays together and only discard the root at the very end after all the cuts are made.

  • Crispy potatoe method didn’t work. Beets are disgusting, they taste like metal. I refrigerate my onions to give them firmness too. I dont add dressing to salad. The wooden stick thing with oil doesnt work, try a pinch of flour.I use shallots with meatballs, it taste way better.

  • Non-sticky short and medium grain rice is disgusting. It should stick together, especially if you are eating Far Eastern food. More mid-Asian cuisines, like Indian, long grain is better and does not stick as much but stuff like Uncle Ben’s is both tasteless (literally) and a horrible side dish for any entree.

  • Pouring oil into water while cooking pasta was recommended in Czechoslovakia in the 60s when our producers did not know how to produce it. Nowadays nobody does. The less in more developed countries, I guess.

  • what did he say when he was putting the spoonful of something on the potatoes pls ive been listening to that clip for half an hour

  • Cooking on a budget doesn’t mean budget food. Buy the best ingredients you can and splurge a little more on cuts of meat or if vegetarian, on spices. Buy dry spices over time, that way you aren’t spending a lot every week. If possible start a small herb garden on a window sill or outside. It will save money in the long run, fresh is better than dried (more flavor and color). And in general, the word budget means different things to different people. In college, I had $50-60 a week for groceries for 2. If you bulk out food with rice, beans, or lentils you’d be surprised how filling and cheap it is. Most people don’t eat 12 eggs in a week or go through all their bread and milk. I live in the states, prices vary across the nation, but work with your budget and be creative.

  • “Oh no!! Some frosting came off in the box! What do I do?! WAIT, I KNOW!! I’ll take ALL the icing off!!”

Look the decorations are cool and all but really? Frosting is really simple to make. Not to mention, most people have it in the pantry if they have box cake mix. I’m just saying man, an un-frosted cake is just sugary bread.

  • When you eat chilli the whole point is to be hot, that`s why i eat them, otherwise use bell peppers, it`s the same taste without the spiciness

  • I learned from Alton Brown that when using a charcoal chimney to start a grill. Spritz the newspaper with canola oil before you stuff it in the bottom of the chimney. It will light faster

  • I don’t see why anyone would go through the trouble of getting wood and moss and whatnot to make some fancy pants place cards and then just serve cake mix cookies

  • As a cake decorator, who actually spends a good amount of te on each cake to make them look nice, those “store bought cake hacks” piss me off.

  • 4:43 what if the kids wanted to have rosé wine gummy bears thinking it was cherry/strawberry gummy bears and then have a million of them cause there delicious and then get drunk

  • These white people foods really surprise me how you going to get full with just cheese and some fruits. Do they like let their guests go home hungry or something?

  • Oh great sith Lord Ramsey, can you please inform me exactly who’s budget are we working with? Because my wallet broke at the potatoes:(

  • No offense, but this video is borderline useless. There were very few actual useful tips in this video. I mean, making carrots taste more like carrots? What?? Also, when you got your sliced bread out of the freezer, you claimed that you can just pop it into the toaster and that it would be “fresh and tender”… That burnt bread you pulled out of the toaster was neither fresh nor tender.

  • :Keep cost down” and “Avacado” shouldn’t be in the same sentence…they’re like 3 bucks each in australia when they are in season..

  • Thanks for some good advice. When exhaustion-depressed, a jolly, high-pitched voice is not what resonates with me, it takes me over the limit of energy so I can’t listen and get it so well.

  • $100 for 100? More like, “$100 for 30…oh and also another $50 of oil, sugar, fruit, seasonings, and spices that we already had.”

  • Bad thing about freezing bread, if they have a sugar content, the sugar crystallizes and doesn’t thaw properly! It leaves the bread hard and crusty!

  • I love the Patient seen against the window door. Load up as much as you want until the dang thing breaks the freaking window when somebody’s pissed. That should make for a great comedy. Kudos to him for trying.

  • Gordon un excelente maestro de la cocina!!!! Soy Dalila, cocino para americanos en Cancún, cenas privadas, me gustaría cocinar para Gordon un día

  • Tip 1… food poisoning X
Tip 2… just dont ever do that X
Tip 3… do not deforst bread like that EVER X
Tip 4… is how you poach an egg just use a deeper pan /
Tip 5… hanging utensils with sticky adhesive in a steamy kitchen REALLY X lol
Tip 6… is not really a tip
    Tip 7… some useful information
Tip 8… is a good tip i like that one

  • I love your videos!!! For the people that are smart asses not every one had a grandmother! And I love and know lots of tricks in the kitchen. But only idiots think they know everything! Thank you for your time! God Bless you!

  • Neat trick with the chopping board holder I have lots of boards (one of chicken, one for other meats, one for onions, one for garlic, one for vegetables, one for bread you name it).!!!

  • i don’t know why, But I don’t like birthday flavored anything. I just thought I put that out there since every comment here is random…

  • Putting sliced bread in a freezer, is excellent if you want to use it for toast! To use for sandwiches Etc, you must use it after the first day or it is dry!

I have discovered that if you purchase unsliced bread with a paper bag, put it into a plastic bag, twist tie it, put into the freezer. This will last for two+ months! When you bring it out, it is as fresh as the day that it was wrapped!!

  • As far as the potatoes in hot water go. “New potatoes” start from boiling because they’re not as tough and “old potatoes” start from cold water. New potatoes are spring and summer and old are fall and winter harvested

  • well…..read the comments….if you are adult you should know that no everybody knows everything….im cooking from 10 y.old….so for me it is basic knowledge

  • Gordon listening to you saying potatoes should be cooked in cold water, my Gran always said below the ground COLD, above the ground BOILING! As below ground is usually veg that needs more time.

  • “What I hate the most in the world is dried chicken’. REALLY? That’s not even a decent metaphor. I love that “you can make multiple eggs at the same time”. And here I thought you can only do one at a time in a 12″ pan. “Add lots of vinegar. The vinegar is optional.” HUH? Is this some kind of test in logic? “It will take three point five minutes depending on the temperature of the water”. Wow, I simply never knew that temperature determines the time it takes. Why does the work “insipid” keep coming to mind? “I don’t know why kitchen drawers end up full of utensils”. Yo, I can give you a hint. It has to do with what you decide to put in there. Now trust me on this; little hooks all over the wall is not a solution, it’s a problem. I know, what my kitchen really needs is a whole lot of more gadgets. Why didn’t I think of that?

  • Great thing to stand under a big tree during a DEADLY Lightening storm….. hahahah.. Good thing nothing bad happened. That food sounds delish.> Wish you were in Cincinnati. When are you going to start your US Tour ;>)

  • I have over the years tried so many tips and tricks for the perfect poached eggs but i never got the result i wanted. This is a great method tyvm

  • This video is EXCRUCIATINGLY slow!!! People have things to do, people to see, places to go and hacks to put to use let’s speed it up! Chop, chop!!!

  • Great stuff, man! Just found your channel. The only change I’d make is forget poaching eggs like that. Just buy a $2 poaching insert that fits any of your pots or saucepans and do it that way. It’s SO simple, the results are ridiculously consistent, and they are just easier to handle in my very humble opinion.

  • Your simple storage hacks are ugly….who would do that to their kitchen? The pans against the glass are sure to be a hit with parents of teenagers and toddlers.

  • I get fresh French Roll and as soon as I get home I put aside what I need at the time and freeze the rest. When I need any of them, pull them out of the freezer, let them defrost and they have the same texture and flavor as when I got them fresh.

  • Wrap the bread bag in another plastic bag before freezing. Your bread stays fresh and it is not dried out in one spot and wet in another. Bread bags seems to be somewhat porous. Perhaps they do that to keep warm bread from going mouldy on the store’s shelf.

Double wrap everything otherwise it may get freezer burn within a very short time.

  • Pouring oil into water while cooking pasta was recommended in Czechoslovakia in the 60s when our producers did not know how to produce it. Nowadays nobody does. The less in more developed countries, I guess.

  • Kitchen hanging surface. Any type of heavy caging such as the dog kennels. Get panels the size of your kitchen wall space, mount them with heavy screws or nails into the wood wall studs. Either buy appropriate size hooks or if you have pliers/wire cutters cut appropriate thickness wire n2 lengths that you can bend into the size that fits the purpose. You can sand down the burrs.

  • Anyone else notice that he didn’t have the correct utinels to do the eggs but magically had them for “carroty carrots”? I wish I didn’t watch this and hope hope he didn’t make utinsel money from the video.

  • I love everything they all look so good but i have to say that the doughnuts where the most creative thing and my fav was the mini fireplace cupcake

  • My cooking secret? I use small cat paws for my salads. They have a tender texture and go well with rabbits’ noses. Mmmh… Delicious!

  • Who has clicked this video just to see those delicious pink doughnuts?

    Me: ✋

  • This video is EXCRUCIATINGLY slow!!! People have things to do, people to see, places to go and hacks to put to use let’s speed it up! Chop, chop!!!

  • Nice video, I’d suggest taking out the bits that call for the viewer to leave a comment. It comes off silly and takes away from your video.

  • 14:12
I kinda feel bad for him
    When he said just like his mother said;-;
maybe he love to draw but he know he’s not gonna make money out of his drawing

  • Do you realize that he does the voiceovers after? Like seriously, its weird seeing him chew and hearing him chew but knowing its just a voiceover.

  • Love this series, hate the effect of production recorded voiceover approach why making the eating sounds, you can tell it doesnt match…

  • When I was 8 I loved tomatoes and I used to eat them as a snack like an apple, my mom bought a ton of really big tomatoes to make salsa and little 8 year old me thought it would be a good idea to eat 12 WHOLE TOMATOES, I got sick and had to go to the hospital to get my stomach pumped because I ate them all so fast

  • 2:46 waste an oyster shell and a wood chalkboard for name cards which you will throw away later I would rather use that as a room or desk decor

  • I wish he gave measurements and times. I tried cooking his apple crumble at 14:14, and with some guesswork, it turned out alright. However the apples were still a little bit hard when they’re meant to be soft. Next time I will cut the apples into smaller chunks and cook them on the stove for longer. Also, for the crumble, I used brown sugar, butter, flour and 1tbsp cinnamon, along with crushed up fruit and fibre cereal (I didn’t have muesli or granola) and the crumble was perfect.

  • I learned from Alton Brown that when using a charcoal chimney to start a grill. Spritz the newspaper with canola oil before you stuff it in the bottom of the chimney. It will light faster

  • Tip: if you love soft and squishy bread, never add flour when kneading as long as you love sticky dough, add 4-6 pinches of flour when rolling
Actually don’t bake potatoes, baked potatoes are less tasty and less crispy

  • I always wondered, why make horizontal lines in the onion? It’s structured in layers anyway. Just make the lengthwise ones and slice the onion, you’ll get the same result.

  • i don’t believe my guests would be excited to have salmon for entree then salmon for main as well. but who knows. maybe there are just no other kinds of food to serve at dinner parties. lol.

  • Banh Mi mean bread in Vietnamese… you guys are using taco shells. It doesn’t make sense and it make you sound like you are trying appropriate a culture. If you go to the Viet Sandwich shop, you will see whole descriptions in front of Banh Mi that is actually what is in it. Just so you guys know.

  • After cooking the carroty carrots, do you drain the carroty carrot juice down the drain, like I normally would when I make my carrots?

  • Cutting onions horizontally is something idiots do the real way to cut an onion so its all uniform wheter its a small dice, slice, or brunoise cut the onion into quarters and cut the core out so the onion can sit on your cutting board flat than slice and then cut slices to your desired size boom now all your onions are the exact same size

  • If you start crying while cutting onions then sip some water and hold it in your mouth while cutting and the tears will go away….

  • My cooking secret? I use small cat paws for my salads. They have a tender texture and go well with rabbits’ noses. Mmmh… Delicious!

  • The gelatin or the flower??? who’s gonna bloom???lol!!!! I was fucking…

  • i have never known a chef to whip egg whites to replace cream.

also, have you ever whipped mash potato? it turns into wallpaper paste

  • Nice video, I’d suggest taking out the bits that call for the viewer to leave a comment. It comes off silly and takes away from your video.

  • Thanks for some good advice. When exhaustion-depressed, a jolly, high-pitched voice is not what resonates with me, it takes me over the limit of energy so I can’t listen and get it so well.

  • If no one else’s mouth is watering on the delicious food that he is cooking then there is something wrong with you I wish I could cook as good as Gordon Ramsay I would probably have a better chance in hell than being as good as Gordon Ramsay if I had the money I would hire him to cook for me

  • Question. That pan with the red center is it a T-fal? I’ve seen people claim it has has a hump in the middle that makes runny food move to the edges and I understand how that’s a problem but others claim theirs do not have that hump. How is your experience with that pan?

  • Cant tell me 100 people can really eat their stomach with that, as small snack ofc but as real meal!? 50 times me, would maybe fill their stomach, and WTF is that carrot wtf.

  • Positives: tells you how to shop, as well as be creative.
Flaws: limited to one style of cuisine, however, there are good tips that you can use for pretty much anything.
    Overall: 87% good video!

  • The meal could raise some interest in a lot of people including myself just too complicated takes away the fun and joy please least come up with some simple recipes

  • I love love love!!!! Your guy’s recipes! They’re so creative and delicious! I start watching from the 1st video to the most recent and i love them all! Keep it up guys!

  • Pans banging against glass…good idea. How can i see Jesus Christ arriving to rapture me if its blocked with crap? Did i miss him already and got left behind? When i want bread, i simply buy/make it. It doesnt last long enough to mold. Freezing it is dumb.

  • For all friends from other countries besides Indonesia, let’s stop by our channel, lots of interesting videos too, and later we will drop by greeting our channels from Indonesia

  • Hmm when he showed that hard bread he didn’t know how to revive old hard french breads or crusty breads. They go hard as rock because the moisture leaves them. Take a larges bowel and submerge the bread for a few seconds. The pop it in a hot oven for a few minutes and it comes out as fresh as the day you bought it.

  • The cutting board idea is good, but man how many boards does one person or a full family really need? You’re definitely not cooking for an army.

  • I love everything they all look so good but i have to say that the doughnuts where the most creative thing and my fav was the mini fireplace cupcake

  • Love your channel and the passion of food and bringing people together! I’m Chinese/Vietnamese and food, cooking, and eatin is a huuuuuge part of our culture and livesit’s so important to me and I just love throwing a great party with great food! I’m so inspired:’) extra props that Viet cuisine is your favorite, Josh!! <3 it's the freakin best, yet underrated!!
