  • I like the rigorous scientific analysis, I love educating the public and the analogy to cigarettes is quite fitting if we inform everyone and there are still people leeching on medicare for this reason… that should be stopped…. but I’d rather have them not get medicare if they take the risk despite the information (or have them buy additional insurance)….. I don’t like banning skiing for everybody just because a large percentage of idiots misjudges their abilities and breaks a leg! (And while I don’t consume any added sugars whatsoever and have never really smoked I would come down on the side of freedom for sugar consuming, smoking, skiing, climbing, skydiving, shooting…. you name it as long as it’s adults!…. Make the legal age for any product with more than 2% sugar by weight 21…….. and keep the hands off what keeps the US resonably safe from government overreach! In Europe we can be sent to jail for voicing our opinion or can even be fined for quoting government statistic in “a hatefull context”…. if our masters would have to be afraid of the citizens the same way it’s guaranteed by the constitution we would a much brighter future ahead of us!

  • Is eating all about metabolism, or is it also partly about psychology, and to what extend does our changing world (more stress, more demands….) also play a role in the equation? I mean, there are things like “comfort food”, or eating something with a lot of sugar, not because one is hungry, but to reward oneself after having done something good or important etc. We do not only eat because we need energy to move around, lift things up, jump around, carry bags. We also eat and drink because we love company, because we like to reward ourselves, because we’re lonely or anxious or happy or…. I know they don’t play a role for babies and toddlers etc. but they might for their parents. And of course, what also changed is the constant exposure to ads: the rise of the internet and the new social media allowed advertisers to constantly tempt viewers. 30 years ago, there were magazines and ads alongside the roads, on bridges, in football stadiums, on children’s TV programs etc. Today, this exposure probably has doubled. Each day, probably a 100 times more people will have heard or seen Coke ads than Dr. Lustig’s exposé.

  • The reason why people have gained weight is NOT due to intensive eating. YES!! people do eat a bit more today than in the past. But not to a degree that has seen this dramatic increase in peoples weight gain. Whats changed is the food itself. How its made or raised. Todays foods are not what they use to be several decades ago, and certainly not what it use to be prior WWII. First understand something, Prior world war II, the nation did not have any form of intensive farming. Meaning, Farms universally provided foods by natural means of production. Pesticides were in fact used, but not to the extent as we see today. not by a country mile. With the coming of the war, the nation needed to supply both its troops as well as the country itself, AND our allied nations under attack. It all ment producing yields much faster than prior, and more robust for both wear and tear durring transport as well as maintaining freshness as long as possible. This ment farmers had to resort to lesser quality species, and even invent new breads of grains that would meet demands. It all started the initial practice of intensive farming. So food began loosing its quality due to the need to meet demand. Still farms mostly functioned by way of natural production, beginning with the soil. the dirt and the nutrients found within, all the bacteria minerals and enzymes that the human body needs, Consumed by animals and plants and thus passed on to the consumer. As such people remained mostly health without any of the extremes we see today. This much stayed true till the second wave of high demand. which came in the mid 90’s with a great increase in world wide demand for food as well as the change in commerce and business AKA globalization. Costcos’ Sams club WalMart and many more began opening tons of new locations world wide. To meet the demands of ever growing populations. As such, intensive farming needed to crank everything up pass redline. And more important was the means by which such vendors and retailers looked to meet their goals. The past way that provided great food was too slow of a process, so they needed short cuts and cost saving. they also needed to vastly intensify yields. Thus came the engineering of foods. As mentioned the natural process was too slow, so agricultural scientists began developing ways increase yields and make supplements for what could no longer be supplied. The Soil itself became a liability, because to grow things naturally took too much time. so came all forms of supplements to remove what produce was getting directly from the soil. ANd its hear were we began not simply loosing the quality of our produce but also the nutrients and flavor. As its all found in the soil. but into to grow at an intensive rate and not be stricken by disease brought on by creating mono cultures of a single product, soils and plants were given intensives amounts of antibiotics and chemical treatments. to fwat off disease. the soil looses its nutrients as does the produce itself, and only by means of supplements is any of it provided back, Still friuts and vegetables no longer provide the same levels of nutrients as they did prior, just as well harming people with insecticides found within. Pultry such as chicken one of the worlds most consumed meats also changed due to intensive farming. So came the birth of the 30day broiler. chickens grown from hatching to harvest in 30 days or less. and as with produce, intensively raised chickens sold to meet high demands also lack the nutrients as theyre not grass fed, in fact just the opposite. They are intensively fed which makes them extremely fat birds made primarily of saturated fats, More proteins coming from their saturated fat than their meat, even worst the type of fats are wrong for the human body, and on top of this, growth hormones steroids and antibiotics are bombarded upon the chiken to accelerate its growth, ANd all such things applied to the birds gets passed on to the consumer, whos bodies are equally effected by whats in the birds. In other words all the steroids growth hormones, antibiotics and tons of saturated fats of the worst type are consumed by the buyer, creating health issues and massive weight gain. Breads and wheat products of the worst type of species and their byproduct foods combined with supplements and fructose, to regain flavor. On and on and on this process goes. To sourcing foods from overseas of which non domestic farms do not meet safety regulations of any sort. farm raised fish and seafood possessing high levels of bacteria and harmful agents, being raised in cesspools, without any natural clean water. on and on, all this leads to the decrease in the populations health. so why doesn’t anyone do anything about it? Big Business!!!!, Your poor health equates to more hospital visits, costly visits and the need for insurance, then comes medications and treatments. all costing and feeding a multi trillion dollar industry, all riding on you being sick not healthy. All these TV doctors never telling people the truth. simple measure to avoid all these issues. And the rich gets richer off of your lack of knowledge. the solutions is simple changed your source of food, shop at your local butchers do not shop at your local supermarkets, Organic is a catchphrase but if you do find farmers markets its best to shop their. what your looking to find is farming done the old ways. without intensive methods. You want domestic soils. the very soils your body obtains its nutrients from upon your birth and younger years. You DONT want foods form overseas with foreign soils. eat natural products not those with supplements. change these things and your body will equally change for the better. but if you keep with whats being offered, then your very body is being used by systems made to exploit it, and thus your money.

  • The Calories in Calories out is still valid but it doesn’t influence the type of weight gain.
    Some foods can cause you to gain weight but they do it by increasing gluttony (addiction, screwing with the sense of hunger the body’s control for wen to stop eating) and sloth (feelings of sleepiness/fatigue after consumption.)
    Nicotine has no Calories but it would still influence a person’s eating if it was in food.
    Also where the weight is stored and whether it’s muscle or fat because weight gain isn’t necessarily “bad”. It’s the internal fat that matters most. Eating the harmful foods in smaller amounts you would “lose weight” if you with sheer will power or the grace of God (who would tell you to change your diet) just muscled past the body’s instincts to stuff your face under the spell of the addictive chemicals in it. But you could still have fat in dangerous places.

  • When I was a little kid, all I wanted to do was eat candy. Candy and soda, sweet cereals were not allowed in the house. I thought about eating candy all the time and how to get ahold of it. I would steal money out of my mom’s purse to go buy candy. I was obsessed with candy. I stopped eating it for breakfast at the age of 50 after my adult son told me about the new sugar research. I don’t eat candy or sugar anymore, I’m 52 now.

  • I thought about another thing that changed dramatically since the 1970’s in the US and W Europe: the loss of large proportions of our production industry to Asia. More and more people work in service, meaning sitting jobs, compared to then. Less physical exercise… And only a part of the new “desk jockeys” compensate this by running after work or work outs in the gym, often combined with high sugar energy drinks….

  • From 2002 to 2012 for almost 10 years I used fructose instead of sucrose, in coffe mostly because one chemist had told me that it is better, much better than sucrose.!
    So I thought I could add some more sweets and sucrose in my diet (LOL)
    In 2012 I was diagnosed with diabetes melitosis 2….

  • All these disease come from broken and damaged THYROID GLAND! So, recovering your THYROID is the first and LAST what you should do! With proper food and reasonable amount of IODINE. Leptin, Insulin, blah, blah…are just the soldiers in Army where THYROID is supreme commander!…ofcourse, when you cure your T. gland it wont mean that you will be able to eat tones of sugars and fructose!

  • I’m currently in Malaysia which, as said in the video, has no alcohol but instead a TON of sugar in form of soft drinks. And it’s so true, people here are very unhealthy but it doesn’t stop them from queuing up in stores and restaurants to get their Coca Cola, Starbucks, McDonalds etc.

    I think once America’s healthcare system changes to be in favor of the patients health rather than money, we’ll start to see global changes as it will provide real numbers of what certain food & drinks does to our bodies.

  • There are facts here overlooked! He claims to proove points throughout the video that weren’t proven. Newborns are a reflex of their mother’s diet… That’s why they are diabetic by birth! It was proven on a study conducted on mice and oat.. That’s just one of the many problems I find in this lecture… I turn many of those down even though some bits are important. For somebody who claims to believe in data, you are not showing many to prove the fundaments of your points, you are stating overall conclusions not taken by data, but mainly observations of graphics which are more informative than conclusive and most are not even an experiment. If anyone questioned at least 40% of those informations, they could lead to different conclusions and maybe the main subject would not be affected (most probably), but the road to it would definitely crumble!

  • I would argue that long long long ago there was a third time to gain weight: It may have been important to gain a little fat during warmer months when food (and sugar-containing fruits) were plentiful, that way you had said fat to burn during the colder months (when it may have been likely that more of your diet was meat). But this is only a thought of mine, I don’t have data or research to back it up. Jason Fund uses a fridge and basement deep freezer paradigm, and I wonder if our long-ago ancestors may have relied on that deep freezer (their body fat) to help get calories to stay warm and hunt during colder seasons.

  • I hate the myths about protein. Yeah you need protein for your muscles but a lot of people eat to much protein and that really damages your kidneys! Because if you eat to much of anything carbs, fat and even protein! It’s gonna be transfered to fat reserves and plus proteins unlike carbs can not be directly transfered to fat, so we have some byproducts that are getting filtered out by your kidneys… Not good people!

  • Fat is made of carbon atoms. We lose fat from our bodies by breathing it out, it is the carbon atom in CO2. That is why we breathe out CO2 instead of simply O2(oxygen). When we exercise we breathe more, in and out. That is why exercise is the best way to lose fat. It is literally the only way.
