This us one thing I liked best with Dr Neil Barnard, Dr. Lim and the WFPD doctors that they do not promote soy in order fr people to go vegan or ������, since there cud be many people like me with thyroid who cannot digest soy or tofu!   • No baby. You did not lose water weight. If anything, you have water retention due to the huge amounts of sodium you’ve been consuming, so your body holds on to water to keep the balance. You should have gained due to water weight; therefore what you lost was NOT water weight.

  • I’m glad you picked Subway as the #1. I feel like Subway is super underrated in how good it is if you are looking to cut or something. You got lots of fresh veggies, it’s very filling, low calories, low price. Meat is a little dubious but I haven’t died from it yet.

  • With fast food it’s easy. Take your pick about skipping the mayo(50-100cals), cheese(20-40cals), dressing/sauce (15-100cals), bun and burrito tortilla is usually 200cals, etc. It’s pretty easy. Go for a burrito bowl instead and skip the side of chips.
    All lot of places will even give you a low carb option by wrapping your burger in lettuce. Subway will even scoop out the bread filling for you! That fillet O-Fish can be 270cals easy if you skip the tartar and cheese and ask for pickles instead

  • Arby’s chicken bacon jalopeno wrap without the ranch is my go to. I work an hour away from where I live and tend to substitute one meal a day with it. Taking off the ranch subtracts at least 120 calories from it so it goes from 600 to 480 calories with 37 grams of protein and it’s pretty filling. I like to add g hughes sugarfree honey mustard to it sometimes. only 20 calories per serving, and it makes me feel like I’m Tiger Woods without the actual cheating.

  • Hi. I’ve been eating a plant based diet since 1988. I agree with most of the information Dr. Lim and other guru’s are putting out, but I have to disagree when it comes to plant oils. You absolutely need oil for the skin, hormones, nervous system, the brain, enzymes and more. If you notice, folks who follow this kind of thinking look old before their time. Some even look pasty in appearance. A little oil will go a long way. To eliminate it all together is overkill. Contrary to popular opinion, you’re not going to have heart attacks, kidney stones, gallstones, or other illnesses if you’re relatively healthy to begin with. For those who have history of these illnesses that may be different. Experiment with it and check your blood levels. But, please don’t think you can eliminate plant oil from your diet and think this is sustainable. There is a reason why long time vegans have converted back to eating a omnivorous diet.

  • Guys I did something similar to this and DO NOT RECOMMEND. Last year I started eating one meal a day and it would literally be a latte and a muffin or something like that for the ENTIRE DAY. I lost 20 pounds but I fucked up my digestive system so much that my body couldn’t process anything anymore so I HAD to use laxatives for a few months and still do once in a while to this day. I started taking fiber supplements which helped a lot but YOU NEED fiber foods or you will really fuck up your body and do long term damage.

  • I looked at a bottle of pam once. It said a serving was 1/4 second. If anything is under 5 calories per serving they are legally allowed to put “0 calories” on the package. If each serving is 4.5 calories a 5 second spray would be 90 calories!

  • There is something wrong with a calorie density presentation if poultry, egg, fish, beef, ice cream have lower calorie density than whole grain bread. Whole grain bread is just missing water so can easily cook it as soup, eat it with soup, drink plenty of water, etc. The fiber in whole grain bread does need water to work. Fiber expands with water. Whereas animal products like poultry, egg, fish, beef, ice cream all have 0 fiber since all animal products have 0 fiber so these foods are really a type of junk food.

  • The reason the so juicy packet says it’s high in fat is because the nutrition information is for “a quarter of our meal suggestion” not a quarter of the packet. The meal suggestion for this flavour involves using chicken wings hence why the fat levels appear so high. As you used chicken breast instead of chicken wings the fat would have been considerably lower than what was stated on the packet.:)

    It’s just a labeling trick. According to their labeling, you’d have to spray your food only once and in less than one second (one fourth of a second!) to be able to round it to that value they claim on the label.

    Depending on how much you add, it may very well be more caloric than that olive oil.

    You definitely added way more than what they consider a zero-calorie serving.

    So, simply putting healthy olive oil in a spray container might be a better idea to regulate the amounts, but calorie-wise fat is still fat.

So often I focus too much on the food (“I can’t eat that food because it’s bad.”) and not enough time thinking about WHY I ate that food and WHAT my values are and HOW to bring my eating habits into alignment with my values.   • First of all, the sodium in some of these condiments are so much, so keep that in mind. Secondly, the oil spray isn’t 0 cal if you put that much. Last, this is not the way to go. You shouldn’t be eating less than 200 cal per meal, which if you only had 3 meals a day, you’d be eating 600 cal everyday. That is the start of an eating disorder, and not a good way to lose weight. I ate only 300 more calories than that at one point, and lost too much weight, it was terrible.

  • Hi. I’ve been eating a plant based diet since 1988. I agree with most of the information Dr. Lim and other guru’s are putting out, but I have to disagree when it comes to plant oils. You absolutely need oil for the skin, hormones, nervous system, the brain, enzymes and more. If you notice, folks who follow this kind of thinking look old before their time. Some even look pasty in appearance. A little oil will go a long way. To eliminate it all together is overkill. Contrary to popular opinion, you’re not going to have heart attacks, kidney stones, gallstones, or other illnesses if you’re relatively healthy to begin with. For those who have history of these illnesses that may be different. Experiment with it and check your blood levels. But, please don’t think you can eliminate plant oil from your diet and think this is sustainable. There is a reason why long time vegans have converted back to eating a omnivorous diet.

  • Each “second” of the Pam spray is actually 8 calories. They can write 0 using some tricks. Essentially, the serving size is 1/3 of a second (impossible to time accurately) which is 3 calories. They can then round that down to 0 because it is less than 5 and claim zero calories.

  • I’m glad you picked Subway as the #1. I feel like Subway is super underrated in how good it is if you are looking to cut or something. You got lots of fresh veggies, it’s very filling, low calories, low price. Meat is a little dubious but I haven’t died from it yet.

    Also Wendy’s is pretty good if you get a spicy chicken sandwich + chili. It’s more like 700 calories, but it’s really tasty and will also fill you up for quite a while.

    Surprised you didn’t feature Arby’s in this challenge. They have a lot of lower calorie items and most of their items have a ton of protein in them, more than any other fast food restaurant I’ve seen. A lot of people hate on Arby’s for some reason, but I like them

  • Vegetarian diet without starch based products would make you starve as Dr McDouglous said, and when you take them you won’t miss the meat! This us one thing I liked best with Dr Neil Barnard, Dr. Lim and the WFPD doctors that they do not promote soy in order fr people to go vegan or ������, since there cud be many people like me with thyroid who cannot digest soy or tofu! And I would like to add that thise vegans who feel short of veggie recepiescan follow the Indian food sites as the Indian meals mostly in every house on a daily basis is plant based, including lentils, beans or whole wheat flatbreads.

  • The Pam has calories. Use a little bit of coconut oil, avocado or olive oil (good fats) a small amount and rub it around the pan with a paper towel. Or make little egg cups in the oven. I’ve been eating soft/hard boiled eggs though to avoid the calories in oil and butter (I know while eggs have more calories than egg whites)

  • There is something wrong with a calorie density presentation if poultry, egg, fish, beef, ice cream have lower calorie density than whole grain bread. Whole grain bread is just missing water so can easily cook it as soup, eat it with soup, drink plenty of water, etc. The fiber in whole grain bread does need water to work. Fiber expands with water. Whereas animal products like poultry, egg, fish, beef, ice cream all have 0 fiber since all animal products have 0 fiber so these foods are really a type of junk food.

    1. Why would you make the egg omelette in bulk if this is a “5 min mug” recipe, everything is just gonna taste different the next day…

    2. The “Veggie shredder” is called a vegetable peeler, meaning you use it to take the skin off of vegetables, if you want a “veggie shredder” they have something for that called a “Spiral Slicer”

    3. You can’t really call it a “sandwich” if there’s not two slices of bread, that’s just “toast” even if it isn’t toasted, it’s just “Smoked Salmon Toast”…

I’m thankful that Dr. Lim did not focus solely on the eating part of losing weight, but also spoke a great deal on the environmental aspect— getting one’s environment in order, including the internal environment. So often I focus too much on the food (“I can’t eat that food because it’s bad.”) and not enough time thinking about WHY I ate that food and WHAT my values are and HOW to bring my eating habits into alignment with my values. I know what I need to eat to be healthy. It’s not a lack of knowledge for me. It’s a lack of aligning my eating habits with my values. Thank you, Dr. Lim. ��������

  • Pam or any other cooking spray HAS CALORIES! A 482g can of Pam is equivalent to 3817.44 calories. Companies labelling the product consider it 0 calories because the serving size is small.     Companies also label other products like Diet Coke and other drinks “zero calorie” and but they all contain aspartame which is a sweetener substitute. When you drink these things the aspartame will convert, or in other words, will metabolise to make amino acids which is what is made from protein during digestion. these amino acids are about 5 calories for about 20 fl oz/ 592 ml. 

    I WILL REPEAT: ITEMS CLAIMING TO BE ZERO CALORIES ARE MOST LIKELY NOT ZERO CALORIES. DO A BIT OF RESEARCH INTO FOODS THAT ARE 0 KCALS TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE EATING TO YOUR SATISFACTION.

    additional facts for those who second opinions after watching the video:

    -Are red peppers better for you than Yellow/ Orange/ Green peppers? 
    According to WebMD, Red peppers pack the most nutrition, because they’ve been on the vine longest. Green peppers are harvested earlier, before they have a chance to turn yellow, orange, and then red. Compared to green bell peppers, the red ones have almost 11 times more beta-carotene and 1.5 times more vitamin C.

    -Do I need artificial sugar/ sweeter substitute in my smoothies?
    No you don’t. Fruit, especially ripe fruit, has healthy natural sugars that help the body. Additionally, sweetener substitute should not be used in high quantities or very regularly. To quote healthline.com, one rat study found that sucralose may have negative effects on gut bacteria. After 12 weeks, rats that consumed the sweetener had 47–80% fewer anaerobes (bacteria that don’t require oxygen) in their guts. Beneficial bacteria like bifidobacteria and lactic acid bacteria were significantly reduced, while more harmful bacteria seemed to be less affected. The gut bacteria had still not returned to normal 12 weeks after the experiment was finished.

    -Should I use Pam instead of olive oil or another NATURAL, “high calorie” oil?
    Short Answer, HELL YES! Long Answer, All Natural oils, including olive oils, have natural properties that help treat and prevent diseases. Olive oil has antioxidants (which have anti-cancer properties, unlike PAM), contains anti-inflammatory properties, prevents diseases like Strokes, Alzheimers Disease, Obesity, Type 2 Diabetes and Heart Disease, and helps treat Rheumatoid Arthritis.

    To conclude, please eat your veggies and natural oils and less artificial products if you are looking for a positive effect on your body. If you are going to eat any calories, low or high, its better to eat healthily. This is not me saying junk or unhealthy food should be completely out your life, just saying that you should know the benefits and detriments of what goes in your body.
