  • It drives me insane that you don’t just take the top bun off and put the sauce on the whole burger instead of just the part where you took a bite. ‍♂️

  • Hmmm Egg sauce seems very close to say Hollandaise which I got pretty damned good at making. THat might work on Salmon or maybe Bernaise sauce. Hmmm.

  • I’m born on the 4th of July suck it Adams . I love the amount of historical shade being thrown, truly American. And we ALL can use more Bill and Ted! Most excellent!

  • So the sauce is, for all intents and purposes, a béchamel variation. You’re not making a roux, but the end result is more or less the same, yes?
Edit: silly me, I thought I was the first to figure that out.

  • When she say bye see you later I become sad. I really wish these vedios should not end because they are so interesting and funny

  • we serve a really similar sauce with egg and parsley with cooked fish for lunch in the schools here in Sweden, its basically a bechamel sauce made with the fish stock that we add the chopped hard boiled eggs and parsley. School lunches in Sweden usually has 3 dishes that the kids can choose from, always with one vegetarian option and a salad bar with at least 6 options.

  • Watching this about six months too latebut who remembers when he dingdong‘s were wrapped in aluminum foil? I guess you got to be an old broad like me(49)to remember that! Love you

  • im bettin cheese cloth would make a fine sub for tha skeeter net, though i kno ya already spent tha dough on those other bags, and i dont think cheesecloth comes in bag form, so u’d prolly end up havin ta use kitchen twine and make you a lil sack of ur own…yeah. that is more work isn’t it…but anyway, just in case, in tha future er wateverand ur right, they prolly only bagged it up for ease of removal and possibly so it didnt flake out while in the pan whilst it jostled around as it simmeredkinda like a net ’round a pot roast i suppose

  • As someone who grew up with a more expansive vocabulary than his peers, I came to find an abundance flowery verbiage to be more a hindrance to clear communication than a pleasant occurrence. It tends to frustrate others and confuse them, leading to them thinking you believe yourself superior or a “try hard”.

  • I love the bicentennial musical 1776, it shows the relationship and love between John and Abigail Adams over a long distance and how they expressed their love in their letters to each other.

  • It needs some kind of spice you say? And it’s from a certain century?…Let’s savor the flavors and aromas of the 18th century!!!

  • Say, are you related to Peter K. Rosenthal, head film critic for The Onion? I spot a family resemblance: https://youtu.be/2nkboMqYhSA?t=12

  • My guess on this Pokemon is Chansey. I cant see it very well.

Anyway, gonna try this salmon. I’m always so intimidated by salmon. Not sure why. But I’ll try.

And oh my! You even like 1776? Our community theatre used to do 1776 every year for the 4TH of July!! I loved it! Now we just watch it on DVD. My daughter was in the play several times.

    Awesome video, as usual!

  • How do you not get tired of binge eating so much every week. When I was dieting I’ve binged eat before and it would be months before I feel like doing it again. I have to say it’s crazy impressive, good or bad, what you’re doing.

  • Genova hasn’t been on this channel for 3 years and people still talk about him the only food channel with so much drama and he doesn’t cause any drama poor nate

  • @ 1:36: “So for OUR intents and purposes…” You mean “…for ALL intents and purposes…” But thank Cronus you didn’t say, “For all intensive purposes.”

  • So I currently live in Quincy, MA, a southern suburb of Boston, which is in the general area where John Adams, Abigail Adams, John Quincy Adams, John Hancock, and some of the rest of the “Boston Crowd” (my term) of patriots came from. The Unitarian church in downtown is where John, Abigail, and John Quincy are interred in a family crypt [and I pass by it almost every day and even when I move to a new house (soon I hope) it’s down the block from my main work location].

  • The sauce is so interesting to me because some extended, elders in the family make their gravy with chopped boiled eggs in it. The first time I had this I was a bit apprehensive-now I love it’ adds a great richness to a sauce. I also wondered where it came from. I “assumed” it was a way for people low on protein options -many years later or in depression era used it as creative & a protein filler…now, maybe it was a passed down recipe?

  • Just discovered this channel.
So disappointed that I have never seen these videos before but…oh well, I am here now love the videos

  • Looks quite yummy…but did you not chop the eggs fine for any particular reason? I wonder if that would have thickened the sauce a bit more. I agree on the tarragon addition, that would be lovely.

  • any Jurassic Park reference is enough to get a like, but as if you needed that in this channel:D no dinosaurs needed, you are awesome man, this has quickly become one of my favorite channels! Keep up the great work!

  • Now this is a recipe I can love. I love salmon. I will try this sauce and see how it is. I will make a point to make and eat it…especially on July 2.

  • Wow, i love this! Getting to see how early Americans celebrated July 4th. I wonder how the July 4th meal changed over time to become what it is now. I remember learning about how we celebrate Independence Day on the wrong day in a college history class but i forgot the specifics. So thanks for the lesson! Its funny that we celebrate it on the wrong day.

  • Timing yourself eat is the stupidest thing I can’t wrap my head around it, it’s the equivalent of me timing how long it takes me to have a sh*t

  • My guess is that the bag was one of the first ways that people would “sou vide” fish and other meats. If you think about it, it’s the same general concept, but of course the colonists didn’t have non permeable bags to to use for cooking. That’s pretty genius.

  • Of course that would have been Atlantic salmon, not Pacific salmon. Two totally different fish. Most salmon today is Pacific salmon. Atlantic is harder to find, particularly wild caught and not pen raised.

  • No amount of awful segueways can make us love this channel any less, I think. Charm and wit and brilliant blue eyes levels of this channel is just through the roof!

  • I definitely need to make the egg sauce, but I’ll put it over veggies since fish and I tend to hate each other and I’m not a fan of intestinal distress. LOL

  • I find it interesting that in 1776 they seceded from the commonwealth but less than a 100 years later they fought the bloodiest war in history to keep several states from seceding from the union.

  • I kinda want to see his pokemon collection in it’s entirety.
Also this is my new favorite show. Thank you for being so awesome. Can’t wait to try some of these recipes.

  • Nate you should do international foods. Call it international Wednesday eats. Friday could be, homemade Fridays. Maybe once a month show people what programs you use or use to use, for editing to help new you tubers out. Spice things up

  • “But if I’m the one to do it, they’ll run their quill pens through it! I’m obnoxious and disliked, you know that, sir.”

Once you listed the five my brain started the tune!

  • About the comment of reading old letters Don’t we all. I love you Max, thanks for making us feel a bit better and showing up the wonderful history of cooking!

  • My mouth was literally watering I was trying to snach that food you are showing in this video I was a little bit crying coz I’m on diet to get slim in quarantine

  • me: making the emoji fries
my mom: hey, when your done, can i try the food.
me: do you like junk food cuz i do?
    my mom: nope.
me: that’s what i thought. go eat your gross green chips for vegans

  • Love this episode! Regarding the bag, though. FYI Wild Atlantic Salmon is an endangered species, so you probably had farm raised which is why it has pink flesh. The color is the result of the feed for all farm-raised salmon. Lake or “Landlocked” Salmon which you may be lucky enough to catch in New England, is its closest relative. It has less fat than its western cousin. It’s flesh is naturally white and flakey. Hence the need for a bag to keep it from disintegrating while its cooking.:) Probably don’t need it anymore.

  • It’s probably not the polyeurathane in the mosquito net bags that would kill you, many modern ones are impregnated with insecticide, that would probably do the job faster.

  • I think for mosquito netting I would use cheese cloth. I think I may have seen someone on tv use cheese cloth for poaching some type of fish.

  • Ha ha, an American saying bollocks. Sounds weird but good, keep at it. Also, maybe you could try making mock turtle soup? I made it once, used oxtails, was very nice.

  • My compliments! I really like your videos: this highly enjoyable combination of cooking and history:) Looking forward to watching more of them!

  • I am not a big fan of musicals, but two are definitely my favorites: “The Wizard of Oz,” which I have never thought of as a musical, but as a good story interspersed with songs, and “1776.” I had the good fortune to take a class trip to NYC to see the stage production.

  • hahaha, ur s’dang funny hon ;)re: synchronicity of salmon n butta but only one camera neway so it dont really matter-lolpatreon segue, not so subliminal but rather suggestive usage of the like button (now considered ‘classic max’ in my book, as i cant wait ta c how ur gonna slip it in-admittedly i click like and save as soon as i open anyway so…..yeah ) But i digress…eggscellent job, yet again, foodie friend…keep em comin!

  • I know it’s still relatively popular today, but, it would be very interesting to see an episode about Baozi or Asian buns.

  • To those unaware, the most excellent musical 1776 is mostly written directly from congressional correspondence, minutes of daily sessions, Adams’ letters to each other and Washingtonton’s dispatches. Disappointed that not much here on the actual recipes, gsve up after the 5th ad.
