  • The gaining/losing weight is about energy balance. Simple more in than out. But what type of weight do you want to gain or lose? If you eat sugary alcohol in less than your daily energy needs and also smoke meth, you will lose weight, but you will become Golem from Lord of the Rings but with a little pot belly. You won’t look like a fitness model. But you will be lighter on the scales than you were before!     If I got my 2000 Calories by eating a nutritionally rich diet I would be healthy. If I got 2000 Calories from munching sugar out of the bag I might actually be lighter on the scale (fat is more energy dense than muscle but less dense in terms of mass) but I’d be soft, weak and malnourished. I’d also be craving more all the time!

  • What do Australia, India and China have in common? Interesting question. From being in Australia for 2 years as a vegetarian I noticed they eat a ton of meat. China is increasing the amount of meat they eat and so is India. However, the people who live in the countryside and the traditional diet in China is rice 3 times a day.   • It really just boils down to behavior. It is a personal choice in purchasing that 2,000 calorie burger. I will occasionally get the burger along with the large shake.   • I think what makes it worse in modern asian cooking compares to traditional is mixing fat with carbs. This makes it very palatable and is worse than just high carb. So low carb is better, but no fat is not entirely wrong also.

  • What would you recommend for someone who cant eat beans? My stomach just cannot handle it. Ive tried slowly increasing the amount. But even just a few beans, really kills my stomach and digestion for days.

  • Actually saturated fat is not as bad as it’s made out to be. It’s neutral in terms of what it does to our cholesterol. It raises the HDL and LDL. Trans fatty acids are the only fats you must avoid. Anything that has partially/hydrogenated oils in the ingredient list has trans fats. They’re used to prolong shelf life in things like Jeff peanut butter, magerine, white tortillas and deep fried foods.

I fell off the wagon a few times over the years (only with dairy) but believe it or not since only 10 years ago that I read an old book titled Radical Vegetarianism. It was sort of a “poop or get off the pot” book and I agreed. And from that moment forward I never compromised. I don’t preach to people either and at 62 years old, and everyone says I look 40 I dont have to preach I just say Genesis 1:29 Go Vegan.   • Totally agree but make sure the rice is brown (the whole grain). We’ve been whole-food plant-based for several months now. My hubby has recently had his cholesterol checked again and it’s gone way down to normal! Same with his BP. The doctor had put him on statins because he was “high risk” because of his weight and his family history, but doctors always put these things down to genetics rather than lifestyle. His family are, and were, all obese, and lived an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. The weight is now falling off him. The doctor says his results are like those of a totally different person. As for me, I lost 4 1/2 stone by intermittent fasting before I knew about WFPB, but now I eat as much as I want, and am still losing weight, and it’s great. It’s also been a wonderful new adventure in education and food. I have also learnt a huge amount about the ethical and environmental aspects of animal agriculture and there’s no way I would go back to eating animal products again. Plants are the way to go!!!

  • Weight loss is basically just calorie in and calorie out. Some of this advice I agree with, some of it I don’t. Soup can be very high in calories and I wouldn’t suggest eating it before a meal. May as well just drink your calories. Salad makes more sense. I also disagree with eliminating all animal products. I have difficulty getting enough protein and omega 3’s. Fish is low calorie and high in protein and omega 3’s. They’ve also been shown to lower your risks of cancer and heart disease. Cutting healthy fats entirely just sounds like a stupid idea. Seeds and nuts provide protein, omegas, and fiber as well. And just a side note about exercise. Biking burns twice as many calories as walking does. They also use less muscles and require less effort. So if you’re just trying to get into exercise, even stationary biking in front of the TV would be a great way to do it. But this is just the 2 cents of someone who managed to lose 50lbs while recovering from a knee injury. Take from it what you will.

  • Hello, I am not quite vegan yet (I do still eat cheese, creamer, and some foods that contain eggs like breads) I am looking for substitutes, any suggestions? I have never been a big meat eater. Even as child I always felt a bit “guilty” and not knowing why, but as a child you eat what it’s put in front of you later in life I realized that that guilty feeling was caused by my love for animals. As I grew up and moved on my own I never bought meat, I wasn’t avoiding it, it just didn’t occurred to me to buy it. Unfortunately when moving into a relationship with someone who needs meat in their diet things changed and I had to start buying and cooking meat I don’t eat it but he is OK with that. I love veggies, fruit and rice and beans so they are staples in my house. Who knows one day my partner might make the change too. Thanks for sharing!!!

    So, I been plant base now for about 2 months. The reason I originally started was because of my painful knees. I’ve always had bad knees because of many factors, but I really messed them up this time. Even though I had pain I would still exercise and this of course made it worse. To the point where my knees had bruises, were swollen and painful. I couldn’t even squat to pick up anything up. It was really bad. Do to my inability to exercise and of course my SAD diet, I gained 20 pounds. My knee pain started to get worse. Doctor said you need to lose weight but obviously you can’t exercise we need to figure out a way for you to lose weight so you can start feeling better and avoid surgery. But, basically he said you are on your own

    So, I started with juicing, then tried RAW VEGAN several times, but it just wasn’t working for me I felt hungry all the time and on top of it I wasn’t shedding any pounds.

    But then God brought me to your video of the high starch, low-fat plant-based way of eating. This all made sense to me. So, I started a little at a time and I noticed I was feeling satiated and also I was losing weight as well!! The BEST part was less inflammation throughout my body which is key.

    Now I can even do JUMP squats!!!!��������������������

It is important to mention the proportion on balancing your diet, because the omnivorous use this pothole as an excuse for helping diabetics o prediabetics.

  • “You don’t need to do 2 hours of mountain climbing…” True, but I have a lot of weight to lose, so after I sorted out my diet I decided to accelerate the process by hitting the hills for a few hours a day after work. I’ve found that I lose around 1lb of fat for each 3 hours I spend in the mountains. Accelerating the process like this is great for morale, and I’ve lost up to 9lbs in a week.
    Clearly this won’t be practical or desirable for most, but if you enjoy a form of moderate exercise like hillwalking or cycling that can be sustained for a few hours at a time, it sure does speed things up.

  • I know this is an older video, but I love to comment. In Dr. Mcdougall’s Starch Solution it talks about a study with bread and adding it to your diet and so I don’t fear bread.
    You were also mentioning guzzling HUGE amounts of calories with smoothies. My blender can hold maybe 4 bananas, a cup of mango, cup of kale and if I mush it down a bit of pineapple and I will be full for a long time. If you do the math, I don’t see this as drowning in calories. And what a great meal for the hot days of summer. Maybe time to rethink the demonization of smoothies. It’s like something that the old folks don’t think the kids should be doing.

  • If you are really overweight you dont have to do half of the things mentioned in this video. Just go for unproccessed vegan food, vegtables and potatoes and rice and you will start rapidlly loosing weight, even if you over eat every meal untill you feel like puking. If you eat 4 pounds of potatoes each day its still just 1800 calories. And increase of fiber will make you naturally calory restrict the more you go on and craving for junk food will dissapear.

  • 1. Fill up on non starchy vegetables or fruit then move to starch
    2. 50/50 veg/starch
    3. Reduce added sugar and salt because they cause overeating
    4. Eliminate animal foods
    5. Eliminate higher fat plants
    6. Eliminate added oil
    7. Eliminate high calorie dense foodsmuffins, dried fruit, biscuits, popcorn, puff cerealanything processed etc
    8. Don’t drink your calories including smoothies. Eat veg as and fruit whole
    9. Eat until you are comfortably full, don’t starve or stuff yourself
    10. Avoid sedentary and exercise at least 30 minutes moderately a day. Heavy workouts aren’t necessary. Weight loss happens in the kitchen

The only thing he said that I would tweak is that I don’t find smoothies to be bad…but that’s ONLY if you don’t find yourself eating more calories due to the smoothie not being filling enough. Dr. Greger, Dr Fuhrman….etc., all have smoothie recipes in their books. So, If overeating is not the case, then a smoothie is fine

  • Thanks so much. I became vegan because of the treatment of animals. My Godparents had a farm in Jefferson, Ohio, where I spent most summers. I named the animals and watched them grow. At Thanksgiving and Christmas time my Godfather would share these animals as food gifts. A pig that had become my best friend was the meal. I cried and cried, and asked to be excused from the table once I learned I was eating Big Man. That ended my meat eating forever. Shortly after, I became a vegetarian, but for the last 7 years now, I’ve been a total vegan. I feel amazing. My skin is so clear and healthy. I just stick to the organic fruits and veggies from Trader Joe’s. I would love to try the meat-like products, but the sodium content is much too high.   • Nice video. But the idea that weight loss comes from just eating the right foods is wrong. It’s also wrong that exercise is necessarily a minor component. Weight loss is a function of energy balance. If you create a caloric deficit you will lose weight. Exercise plays exactly the role that you assign it-if you burn an extra 300 calories, like on a 2-3 mile run, that’s what gets factored into the daily energy balance. If you run 20 miles you can factor in about 2500 calories burned. All the weight you lose can be from exercise, or none. It just depends on how much you do and of course how much you eat.

    I burn an average of 800-1500 calories a day from exercise and therefore can and do eat that much more to maintain my weight. This is basic and there is simply no truth to any other formula.

    If you want to rapidly lose weight create as large a caloric deficit as you can. If you do this, practically the only way is through exercise. Say your maintenance caloric intake is 2200 calories. You can comfortably cut 500 calories but if you cut much more you’ll be very hungry. This will add up to about a pound lost per week. Now the easiest thing you can do to double your weight loss is not to eat less but to exercise more. Burn off another 500 calories a day and you’re at a two pound per week loss. End of story. Yes, there are always Plateaus due to water retention but over time those even out.

    Exercise can play a small role or the primary role-it just depends on how much you do in conjunction with how much you eat. It’s a simple formula and indeed counting calories is necessary in order to know the numbers. Doing it intuitively works fine too but the underlying energy balance still needs to be negative.

  • Have to say I’m about 2-1/2 minutes in and everything I’m hearing is a lot to do with how I was eating when I lost over 100 lbs. I would start meals with 1/2 1 whole grapefruit, or, a salad, and, I’d put potato, yam or meat along with a side of veggies or a pasta dish filled with veggies over a bed of greens. Allowed myself some very tiny dessert after every meal I didn’t have to have it, but, I could. And, I got, after a while, where that big meal would turn into two meals, sometimes half of it eaten as leftovers on the next day, because, I started losing my cravings and that feeling of not being satisified and suddenly couldn’t eat near as much. Ended up dropping dessert altogether.

    I’ve tried many things sense then. But, now I am sort of back full circle. Only, with more purposeful starch and more restrictions on what to eat especially in combination and trying to work up a plan that would work for life. Somewhere between this and some Ayurvedic things I learned.

  • That’s so true, Last year I walked 8-13 miles a day including a moderate hike in a canyon and 2 hours at the gym doing cardio, weights and a workout class, ate sem-healthy but still drank a coke a day and the scale hardly budged. Now I’m stuck at home due to a back injury and can hardly move but I’m losing weight due to eating healthy whole foods such as fruit and vegetables and have lost more in a month than I did the 5 months I busted my ass off last year!!

  • probably want a couple of tsp of flax meal to avoid risking omega 3 deficiency. I don’t buy that a low fat wfpb diet automatically ensures enough omega 3. lots of vegans are deficient in omega 3. flax meal isn’t addictive. A limit for that is better than eliminating it.

I did a video on how I lost 70 lbs just changing to a plant based diet, with no exercise, no counting calories, no “dieting,” no eating below the hunger drive. Once I lost 55 lbs I wanted to move more and started walking, which I continue to do because I like it. Moving the body is important, without a doubt. But the biggest changes for me came from changing what was on the end of my fork.

  • Great video, except he tries to blame all on sugar. That makes the video highly unscientific. I have seen people going “paleo” gain more weight than ever and ending up with high uric acid, high cholesterol, hypertension, kidney damage and immune problems.
    People can binge on meat as much as they binge on sugar.
    All that said his take on sugar is worth listening to a few times. One of the best videos on the subject of leptin. Sadly he tries to pack all the issues in the same box.

  • Yes, I too am guilty of jumping through weight loss plan to others as well, I do believe that I must have tested every fat reduction system that was available, but in the end not one of them made it easier for me to lose and maintain the weight off. I ended up trying for the very last time using the Fenoboci Diet Plan mainly because my mate who told me extraordinary things about it and so far to date I have effectively lost 18 lbs within 3 weeks!

  • Most important of all: Dance your ass off! As ugly as you can. Swing those flappy thighs, air bump that tummy to your favourite songs. Be the king och queen of your at home dance floor. You can easily dance 1 hour a day and have soo much fun! Im quickly losing fat.

  • Actually saturated fat is not as bad as it’s made out to be. It’s neutral in terms of what it does to our cholesterol. It raises the HDL and LDL. Trans fatty acids are the only fats you must avoid. Anything that has partially/hydrogenated oils in the ingredient list has trans fats.   • Great video, except he tries to blame all on sugar. That makes the video highly unscientific. I have seen people going “paleo” gain more weight than ever and ending up with high uric acid, high cholesterol, hypertension, kidney damage and immune problems.
    People can binge on meat as much as they binge on sugar.
    All that said his take on sugar is worth listening to a few times. One of the best videos on the subject of leptin. Sadly he tries to pack all the issues in the same box.
    People motivation, cultural values and ethics play a big role to. The biggest loser show offer a fortune to whoever lose the most weight. Look at the results. More weight lost that any pill modifying leptin response. Offer 1 million to whoever weight a normal weight and you will make obesity a rare disease.
    In my country Obese kids were practically tortured and they could not date any girl or guy. There were candies, cakes and sodas but if you gained 10 lb you could expect several people calling u out on your weight gain on a daily basis. Obesity was rare.
    My point is just to say obesity and metabolic syndrome tree have more than one root like modt trees. I could agree sugar is the main one but I’m not 100% sure. Cultural values could have been the path to the sugar explosion. To begin with the savage amount of ads kids are exposed regarding sugary products can only happen because we accet it morally. We would not accept the same ads if it was heroin or crack.

  • The gaining/losing weight is about energy balance. Simple more in than out. But what type of weight do you want to gain or lose? If you eat sugary alcohol in less than your daily energy needs and also smoke meth, you will lose weight, but you will become Golem from Lord of the Rings but with a little pot belly. You won’t look like a fitness model. But you will be lighter on the scales than you were before! But when people talk about losing weight they are usually thinking of looking like a fitness model not a pot bellied Golem, who is lighter than your typical club bouncer or truck driver stereotype, but also quite low on muscle and nutritional health.
    Also there are foods that will make you want to up your Calorie intake the addictive foods. Some of them might contain very few Calories themselves but have the same addictive effect e.g. diet coke. Smoking weed has no Calories but again has the effect of making you want to up your intake and let’s be honest, has anyone with the munchies craved raiding the fruit bowl? A nice bowl of broccoli and onion soup? No it’s always pizza and chips and doughnuts.

    If I got my 2000 Calories by eating a nutritionally rich diet I would be healthy. If I got 2000 Calories from munching sugar out of the bag I might actually be lighter on the scale (fat is more energy dense than muscle but less dense in terms of mass) but I’d be soft, weak and malnourished. I’d also be craving more all the time!

  • What do Australia, India and China have in common? Interesting question. From being in Australia for 2 years as a vegetarian I noticed they eat a ton of meat. China is increasing the amount of meat they eat and so is India. However, the people who live in the countryside and the traditional diet in China is rice 3 times a day. That would be carbohydrates as the main portion of their 3 meals. A high carbohydrate diet. They also eat a lot of vegetables, because they are cheap, and many of them lived in poverty. BUT they have extremely low incidence of cancer, diabetes and other diseases of the developed world. They are also extremely lean and healthy. So, I think it is pretty clear that what is destroying the Chinese in the cities is the same disease of opulence that we have in the western world. That means high fat foods. Donuts (high fat) pizza (high fat) snickers (60%fat). I bet you though all of those food were high sugar. You were right, they do have some added sugar, but the worst thing is the FAT. BECAUSE FAT IS FAT AND IT MAKES YOU FAT.

  • Have to say I’m about 2-1/2 minutes in and everything I’m hearing is a lot to do with how I was eating when I lost over 100 lbs. I would start meals with 1/2 1 whole grapefruit, or, a salad, and, I’d put potato, yam or meat along with a side of veggies or a pasta dish filled with veggies over a bed of greens. Allowed myself some very tiny dessert after every meal I didn’t have to have it, but, I could. And, I got, after a while, where that big meal would turn into two meals, sometimes half of it eaten as leftovers on the next day, because, I started losing my cravings and that feeling of not being satisified and suddenly couldn’t eat near as much. Ended up dropping dessert altogether.

    I’ve tried many things sense then. But, now I am sort of back full circle. Only, with more purposeful starch and more restrictions on what to eat especially in combination and trying to work up a plan that would work for life. Somewhere between this and some Ayurvedic things I learned.

I fell off the wagon a few times over the years (only with dairy) but believe it or not since only 10 years ago that I read an old book titled Radical Vegetarianism. It was sort of a “poop or get off the pot” book and I agreed. And from that moment forward I never compromised. I don’t preach to people either and at 62 years old, and everyone says I look 40 I dont have to preach I just say Genesis 1:29 Go Vegan. Its God’s original diet and God probably knows what He’s talking about.

  • Totally agree but make sure the rice is brown (the whole grain). We’ve been whole-food plant-based for several months now. My hubby has recently had his cholesterol checked again and it’s gone way down to normal! Same with his BP. The doctor had put him on statins because he was “high risk” because of his weight and his family history, but doctors always put these things down to genetics rather than lifestyle. His family are, and were, all obese, and lived an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. The weight is now falling off him. The doctor says his results are like those of a totally different person. As for me, I lost 4 1/2 stone by intermittent fasting before I knew about WFPB, but now I eat as much as I want, and am still losing weight, and it’s great. It’s also been a wonderful new adventure in education and food. I have also learnt a huge amount about the ethical and environmental aspects of animal agriculture and there’s no way I would go back to eating animal products again. Plants are the way to go!!!

I’ve eaten very little meat since 2009 after attending a 3 day raw foods class and then 4 day vegan cooking class with Mark Reinfeld, internationally known vegan chef. He’s written many vegan books (several 30 Minute Vegan titles)and I have them all. His wife is an ND and they have written an excellent book “Healing the Vegan Way” and are preparing to open a cooking school in Colorado. That’s where I received my early education. I was mostly vegan but it changed overnight after I watched those (& then more) related movies. I’m easily losing weight and my cravings have resolved.   • Thanks so much. I became vegan because of the treatment of animals. My Godparents had a farm in Jefferson, Ohio, where I spent most summers. I named the animals and watched them grow. At Thanksgiving and Christmas time my Godfather would share these animals as food gifts. A pig that had become my best friend was the meal. I cried and cried, and asked to be excused from the table once I learned I was eating Big Man. That ended my meat eating forever. Shortly after, I became a vegetarian, but for the last 7 years now, I’ve been a total vegan. I feel amazing. My skin is so clear and healthy. I just stick to the organic fruits and veggies from Trader Joe’s. I would love to try the meat-like products, but the sodium content is much too high. Initially, I started this to help with my blood glucose spikes (because it was crazy even without eating regular sugar) and especially after watching interviews with Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Michael Greger I decided to try.   • Hello, I am not quite vegan yet (I do still eat cheese, creamer, and some foods that contain eggs like breads) I am looking for substitutes, any suggestions? I have never been a big meat eater. Even as child I always felt a bit “guilty” and not knowing why, but as a child you eat what it’s put in front of you later in life I realized that that guilty feeling was caused by my love for animals. As I grew up and moved on my own I never bought meat, I wasn’t avoiding it, it just didn’t occurred to me to buy it. Unfortunately when moving into a relationship with someone who needs meat in their diet things changed and I had to start buying and cooking meat I don’t eat it but he is OK with that.   • Love love love this! It’s hard looking for vegan recipes and find a mile long list of spices and things I don’t have in my kitchen. It would cost me a fortune to go by those items and might not use all of them up. Knowing some great staples to help start some plant based meals is definitely helpful!

  • There are many components to christian fat reduction books. One resource I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Monas Miracle Fix (check it out on google) without a doubt the most incredible plan that I have ever heard of. look at the extraordinary info.

  • 1. Fill up on non starchy vegetables or fruit then move to starch
    2. 50/50 veg/starch
    3. Reduce added sugar and salt because they cause overeating
    4. Eliminate animal foods
    5. Eliminate higher fat plants
    6. Eliminate added oil
    7. Eliminate high calorie dense foodsmuffins, dried fruit, biscuits, popcorn, puff cerealanything processed etc
    8. Don’t drink your calories including smoothies. Eat veg as and fruit whole
    9. Eat until you are comfortably full, don’t starve or stuff yourself
    10. Avoid sedentary and exercise at least 30 minutes moderately a day. Heavy workouts aren’t necessary. Weight loss happens in the kitchen

    So, I been plant base now for about 2 months. The reason I originally started was because of my painful knees. I’ve always had bad knees because of many factors, but I really messed them up this time. Even though I had pain I would still exercise and this of course made it worse. To the point where my knees had bruises, were swollen and painful. I couldn’t even squat to pick up anything up. It was really bad. Do to my inability to exercise and of course my SAD diet, I gained 20 pounds. My knee pain started to get worse. Doctor said you need to lose weight but obviously you can’t exercise we need to figure out a way for you to lose weight so you can start feeling better and avoid surgery. But, basically he said you are on your own

    So, I started with juicing, then tried RAW VEGAN several times, but it just wasn’t working for me I felt hungry all the time and on top of it I wasn’t shedding any pounds.

    But then God brought me to your video of the high starch, low-fat plant-based way of eating. This all made sense to me. So, I started a little at a time and I noticed I was feeling satiated and also I was losing weight as well!! The BEST part was less inflammation throughout my body which is key.

    Now I can even do JUMP squats!!!!��������������������

  • “You don’t need to do 2 hours of mountain climbing…” True, but I have a lot of weight to lose, so after I sorted out my diet I decided to accelerate the process by hitting the hills for a few hours a day after work. I’ve found that I lose around 1lb of fat for each 3 hours I spend in the mountains. Accelerating the process like this is great for morale, and I’ve lost up to 9lbs in a week.
    Clearly this won’t be practical or desirable for most, but if you enjoy a form of moderate exercise like hillwalking or cycling that can be sustained for a few hours at a time, it sure does speed things up.

  • I know this is an older video, but I love to comment. In Dr. Mcdougall’s Starch Solution it talks about a study with bread and adding it to your diet and so I don’t fear bread.
    You were also mentioning guzzling HUGE amounts of calories with smoothies. My blender can hold maybe 4 bananas, a cup of mango, cup of kale and if I mush it down a bit of pineapple and I will be full for a long time. If you do the math, I don’t see this as drowning in calories. And what a great meal for the hot days of summer. Maybe time to rethink the demonization of smoothies. It’s like something that the old folks don’t think the kids should be doing.

  • If you are really overweight you dont have to do half of the things mentioned in this video. Just go for unproccessed vegan food, vegtables and potatoes and rice and you will start rapidlly loosing weight, even if you over eat every meal untill you feel like puking. If you eat 4 pounds of potatoes each day its still just 1800 calories. And increase of fiber will make you naturally calory restrict the more you go on and craving for junk food will dissapear.

  • Weight loss is basically just calorie in and calorie out. Some of this advice I agree with, some of it I don’t. Soup can be very high in calories and I wouldn’t suggest eating it before a meal. May as well just drink your calories. Salad makes more sense. I also disagree with eliminating all animal products. I have difficulty getting enough protein and omega 3’s. Fish is low calorie and high in protein and omega 3’s. They’ve also been shown to lower your risks of cancer and heart disease. Cutting healthy fats entirely just sounds like a stupid idea. Seeds and nuts provide protein, omegas, and fiber as well. And just a side note about exercise. Biking burns twice as many calories as walking does. They also use less muscles and require less effort. So if you’re just trying to get into exercise, even stationary biking in front of the TV would be a great way to do it. But this is just the 2 cents of someone who managed to lose 50lbs while recovering from a knee injury. Take from it what you will.

  • That’s so true, Last year I walked 8-13 miles a day including a moderate hike in a canyon and 2 hours at the gym doing cardio, weights and a workout class, ate sem-healthy but still drank a coke a day and the scale hardly budged. Now I’m stuck at home due to a back injury and can hardly move but I’m losing weight due to eating healthy whole foods such as fruit and vegetables and have lost more in a month than I did the 5 months I busted my ass off last year!!

  • probably want a couple of tsp of flax meal to avoid risking omega 3 deficiency. I don’t buy that a low fat wfpb diet automatically ensures enough omega 3. lots of vegans are deficient in omega 3. flax meal isn’t addictive. A limit for that is better than eliminating it.

  • I’m a ‘carb junkie’, and I had been struggling with my weight for decades. Gave up sugar in 2012 and all the other “healthy” carbs shortly thereafter. For me, there is no going back. I’m more healthy, fit and active than ever before and my weight has been stable for years.

  • As a new person to the plant based lifestyle, I find this information extremely helpful but also extremely disappointing. Mainly because I have just given up animal products which was hard, but now breads, nuts, seeds, avocado’s, and other seemingly good things? I feel overwhelmed. I hate leafy greens.   • I think when people (myself included) are having issues with weight gain or can’t lose weight they neeeeeeeeed to watch this monthly as a reminder! So many “WFPB” recipes online don’t fit MWL criteria! You may think.. oh this is healthy because it’s WFPB but it could be super high in calorie density due to dates, flours, maple syrup as so many recipes are. Good reminder to get back to the basics. So many “WFPB” recipes online don’t fit MWL criteria! You may think.. oh this is healthy because it’s WFPB but it could be super high in calorie density due to dates, flours, maple syrup as so many recipes are. Good reminder to get back to the basics.   • Yes, I too am guilty of jumping through weight loss plan to others as well, I do believe that I must have tested every fat reduction system that was available, but in the end not one of them made it easier for me to lose and maintain the weight off. I ended up trying for the very last time using the Fenoboci Diet Plan mainly because my mate who told me extraordinary things about it and so far to date I have effectively lost 18 lbs within 3 weeks!

  • sugar is a poison/drug we are all addicted to..10 day is not realistic… you have to take a long time to ween yourself off it.. if you drink 8oz coke 3 times a day start lowering to 2 times for a period of time and then once day to half until you gt to a point your not even drinking it half everyday. If you stop cold you will bounce back and that goes for everything.

  • Potatoes high starch. Not good. Bananas high in sugar. Not good. Rice is devoid of nutrients. Leafy greens high in oxylates, water and fiber. Few nutrient absorption. Beans make you fart. You can’t digest beans well. This advice is terrible.

  • I was a pale, fatigue guy and my blood test showed that I was low in iron, B12, zinc and low T. My (smart) Doctor said that I needed to eat more red meat but trimmed of fat & oil. Also legumes. My next blood test was better but my cholesterol was higher. Have you found a connection between cholesterol and heart disease? There’s some controversy about that.
