Recently, interest in the composition of the human body has been significantly growing with emphasis on maintaining a good ratio of components such as fat mass and lean body mass including muscle mass and water [1,2].The study of body composition in conjunction with the analysis of endocrine have become an important element not only assess the risk of diseases. Periodization is one of the most important parts of a fitness programs ultimate success, yet few trainers and gym-goers truly understand how to employ the concepts and principles behind it. The lack of a bridge between these theories and their practical, everyday application is partly to blame.

As you can probably tell from the title, this article attempts to bring periodization down to a.   • Hey, Ronan here. Let’s talk about MILK, CREAMER, and SUGAR in your COFFEE or TEA while you’re fasting. Can you have that? Does it mess it all up?

    At the end of the day, it’s about how many calories you’re consuming (or how big the grocery shopping is) each day. Intermittent fasting is a way to help you intuitively reduce your daily caloric intake but without you having to count or track them. This is exactly why people who burn fat on intermittent fasting do so. The researchers of the Illinois study that I mentioned in the video took a look at the food journal of the participants and realized that while they were fasting they intuitively ate, on average, 350Kcal less per day when they were intermittent fasting. And this explains why they burned fat.

    This means that, when it comes to fat loss, the way that intermittent fasting helps you is by reducing calories overall. So if you add calories to your fasting window then you’re kind of missing the point.

    Of course, does that mean that I need to freak out and that a single drop of milk would break the fast and mess up my results? No. Even though this means that you are grocery shopping more often because you’re not really spending all those 12 to 16 hours fasting, if your groceries are really small this may not be detrimental to your fat loss.

    But then things start to be more complicated. Your mind may soon go like “hey, a single drop of milk wouldn’t be bad. What about 2? What about… a glass? And if I add just a little sugar?”. And this may become a loop that over time increases an obsession with what you may or may not have when you’re fasting and, at some point, cancel the benefits of the practice entirely.

    You can see that there’s no clear rule of what you CAN or CANNOT do. But if you want an advice of a best practice of intermittent fasting, then have zero calories when you’re fasting and leave them for your feeding window. This means, no creamer, milk, or sugar in your coffee or tea.

    You may as well see later on than giving you 100% is EASIER than giving 95%.

  • Hi, I dont take dinner, just fruits at around 6 pm. Then a glass of warm milk at 9 pm.
    I take my breakfast at around 8.30 to 9 am.
    If I count milk as meal then I m fasting for approx 11 hrs. Shall I count milk as meal? If yes, do I have to take it early

  • Intermittent fasting DOES NOT work for everyone. Stop recommending this for all people. It doesn’t work for people with hypothyroidism.

  • Just watching this is so inspirational, and you can really tell that she cares. I’ve been on a fitness journey for a really long time, and I’ve been doing it wrong. I would put unrealistic expectations into my head going into it. Watching this just inspires me to keep trying even tho corona closed all the gyms. I’m going to keep trying to not restrict and just to make gains with the weights and equipment that I have.

  • Been drinking hot lemon water when I wake up. After that.. my routine of meditation and exercise. Then after that.. breakfast. It’s almost 4 hours after I wake up. Dinner is also changed because of pm work schedule. I’m loosing belly fat fairly quickly..��⭐

  • So are you saying do not eat lunch? Get up early. Have breakfast 90 minutes after you wake up and then have dinner 90 minutes early than you usually do? Is the 12 hours included with 8 hours of sleep? I am trying to get an example of my day. Would my breakfast and dinner be larger than normal since I went a while without eating? I am eating healthy and I went from 250 to now 179. I would like to get to 125-128.

  • How can I do intermittent fasting when I am Type 2 Diabetic. I know that recently I was very ill with an aggressive biological bowel infection for 8 days and lost 17lbs. I was only allowed clear fluids for 24 48hrs and that did not include chicken or beef broth because both just went right through! I normally have 4 meals a day Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snack beginning at 8 am and ending at 8 pm with my largest meal at mid-day. Three years ago I was 432 lbs. and now weigh approximately 267 lbs.

    I have changed my diet since 2018 but besides losing weight I haven’t been able to achieve my real goal of being energetic and waking up fresh and retain it thru the day.

  • Calorie restriction causes the yo-yo effect, not fasting. Fasting and intermittent fasting are not calorie restriction (I know that sounds ludicrous, but it’s not). Dr. Jason Fung MD. explains this with a railroad track analogy. When you are eating in a calorie restricted way and eating those few calories a little at a time throughout the day, your body can only access the limited amount of calories in the glycogen system (glucose in the blood, muscles and liver). Your always on the “glucose track” and can’t switch to the “fat burning track”. Your “energy drive-train” can either sit on one track or the other, but it can’t be on both at the same time. Your “freezer” (to use the analogy in this video) is padlocked shut because insulin is high and glucagon is low. Therefore, your body must slow the metabolism as it has run out of short term fuel (glucose) and has no means to access to long term fuel (adipose body tissue a.k.a. fat). When you fast either intermittently or longer, insulin levels go down, glucagon rises unlocking the freezer. Your body now has seemingly unlimited energy (most of us have 40 days or more worth). The problem is, if you have followed the food pyramid diet (North American diet) for many years the machinery inside of your cells that burn fat (Mitochondria) have lost their ability to effectively use fat for fuel, and you may feel sluggish on a fasting regimen. The good news is, after a short time of consistently eating this way, your body adapts to burning fat for fuel. One study showed that individuals doing Alternate day fasting saw a huge drop in basal insulin levels after 21 days of consistently fasting every other day! This is due to the fact that the body has reset the mitochondria to burn fat and now your body is restored to “flex fuel” where both carbs and fat can be burned for energy. Watch YouTube videos from Dr. Fung MD, Dr Berg DC. Dr Boz MD (Bozwerth), Dr. Ken Berry MD, Thomas DeLauer, there is a wealth of knowledge out there on this subject matter. At 48 years old, I did this last year and lost 38 lbs which returned me to the weight I was at the start of my college years. Have had no issues keeping off the weight since. Hope you have great results too if you give this a chance.

  • Problem with fasting is, your body is set in starvation/survival mode and tries to keep the fat and not to lose it. So it stops burning calories. When you start eating again after a period of fasting, you’re body is still in that mode, so you will gain more than you lose. It’s called yo-yo-effect.

  • Uhm, sunscreens, almost all of them, cause cancer. And most truck drivers are exposed to sun ALL DAY EVERY DAY. And most truck drivers have poor nutrition habits to protect from THAT much sun. A sensible exposure to sun with no burning and enough nutrients will protect you.   • Just eat one meal a day ( aka intermediate fasting)
    cut out anything autofficial eat clean and simple and do not put anything white in your mouth. White sugar white flour whites potatoes. Do simple ingredient breads if you must no white rice

  • Just so you know chicken breast shouldn’t be that many calories! Make sure you weigh the chicken AFTER you cook it. A 4oz piece of cooked chicken is 110 calories. Potatoes you should weigh before:)

    Let me tell the facts
    The science will say hacks about meditation and which frequencies can be released in which state and also there will be new stuff coming up with the research for humanity but it will never able to go beyond higher self (let’s say divine state) which ancient rishis and munis and enlightened can go because the people who are doing research on the lab may or may not doing an experiment with themselves and to know more about that has to go simply oneself inside.
    Some research topics to study more below:
    The true fact is that actually, the body is inside the mind. Many have a misconception on this that mind is inside the body. Do research on this.
    Why not tell more about breathe and meditation as they have more energy than food and sleep?
    I wanna hear more about food what is meant for a human to be healthy so that body is in a pure and healthy state
    what about yoga I learned and have experienced that body and mind to be better within 1-2 months
    What about Ayurveda as everybody has a different body and same food cannot have a similar effect to other people? I came to know that modern medicine is essential but I found that Ayurvedhaknowing more about it has helped me to decide what I need to take for my body depending on the nature of it and this has helped me to be healthy and away from diseases.
    Today’s science is more materialistic so there is more depression, suicide, anger, hatred etc. So, the material world and the spiritual world must be balanced to have a good state of mind.

    Let’s research more on this who are interested. Actually ancient things can be brought into today’s world with carefully the sole thing making it feasible in today’s world with science.

  • hi, so… i weighted about 119 Kg at the end of 2017 and got to 93 Kg the last summer.I started gaining weight again because my timetable shifted and i had to leave to 5 AM in the morning to school and get back home at like 3-4 PM. i had like at least 11 KM of walking every day and then getting home and doing homework and finding time to relax and eat and i kinda got to a little burned out. i eat erratically and don’t have a schedule, i feel tired all the time, can’t stand light, lack of motivation and a sensation that i must sleep continuously.   • if she wants to lose weight for a goal and feel better she literally needs to eat fewer cals. she will not lose weight if she is eating an amount (like 2000 cals) as it is too much energy going in even with exercise. not in any way am I saying she needs to lose weight, however, she will need to reduce her calories if wanting to lose weight.

  • If you want to do measurements you could measure your thighs & biceps (L&R) to see if your muscle growth is even! Some trainers do it as a physical way to see if you are favoring one side of your body!!
