But the scale isn’t moving or it’s not going down or in the right direction. Right. Maybe your clothes are feeling different and better but you want to see the scale move. Hey I understand. But the scale isn’t the most accurate way you should be measuring your progress.. First off there are three reasons why you should not be just using a typical scale to measure your progress. Reason number one standard scales do not reflect fat loss. They measure weight loss which could include water weight and muscle wasting. That’s one of the reasons you’re losing inches but not weight.. Let’s say if you are on your fitness program and you gain a half a pound of muscle but you also lose a half a pound of fat a typical scale isn’t going to tell you that because the standard scale measures your muscle your water your organs your bones and all of that. A standard scale does not tell the whole story.. And the third and final reason that you should not just be using a typical scale to measure your progress is because your weight will fluctuate day to day and it’s going to fluctuate depending on what you’ve eaten either that day or the day before whether it be that meal had a lot of sodium in it and or you were allergic to whatever you were eating. It’s going to make you retain water and it’s going to affect the number that you see on the scale.. And unfortunately for most women your weight will fluctuate day to day and week to week and especially during your menstrual cycle. Sometimes you can be two to six pounds of fluid retention.. So make sure you run away and the stay as far away from the scale around that time period. So you may be asking how can I measure my fat loss. How can I measure my progress more accurately. There are several ways you can measure your fat loss. But not all are 100 percent accurate.. The DEXA scan is the most accurate because it measures your body mass and everything. For most people there’s no need to have an exact measurement of every aspect of your weight. So the DEXA scan is really over the top but what you do need is a form or method that can measure your body fat versus muscle ratio. And up next we have hydrostatic weighing. Hydrostatic weighing is when you are immersed in a tub of water.. But what it does it calculates or measures your BMI but also more importantly it measures the visceral fat. Visceral fat is the fat that wraps around your organs. That’s the bad fat but is really no need to go and get that measurement. So if you don’t have access to a DEXA scan or a hydrostatic weighing here some options for home use. There are specialized scales that measure body fat and they measure it using bio electrical impedance. These can be used in your home.. And the way they go about measuring this is they say it thin like a very small electrical pulse through your body. So if it’s a handheld it’s going to send it through one arm going through the body and they come out through the other handle wherever contact is being made on the device. So if you’re standing on a scale is going to go up through one foot and come out the other foot.. But I promise you it is not going to shock you or anything like that. That is how it measures your body fat percentage, your water weight and also your muscle mass. And then you have the good old fashioned tape measure. Now one thing I do want to mention is that whenever you measure yourself make sure you measure yourself in the same place each and every time. OK.. And also at the same time of day because again depending on what you ate the day prior or even that day is going to affect how your body responds and how your body may measure whenever you measure yourself with the tape measure.. Identify Consistency Gaps (1:06). In the big picture, there are 4 key fundamentals to losing weight, which are good nutrition (including hydration), consistent activity/exercise, good sleep schedule, and accountability. This first step is to take a look at these key areas and see where you might have consistency gaps. If you are regularly falling off track in one area, your weight loss efforts will hit a plateau.. So, you should check into your regular routine and see what could be affecting your efforts. Are you eating well through the week, but blowing out at the weekend? Are you skipping workouts or training at too low intensity? Are you getting less than 7 hours of quality sleep each night? These are the types of questions to ask yourself to find out what consistency gaps could be stalling your weight loss efforts.. 2. More Sleep & Water (3:14). A weight loss plateau can often be caused by your body simply retaining more water than usual. Drinking more water can encourage the release of this water retention as it kickstarts your kidneys into processing fluids better. Increasing sleep will help with hormone balance, and insulin sensitivity, both of which play a big part in weight loss success.. 3. Scale Back Portions (Especially Carbs) (4:14). If your weight has hit a plateau and the first two steps shown above are in check, it is worth looking at your calorie consumption a little closer. If you are using our perfect plates method of having ¼ plate of protein, ¼ plate of carbs, ½ plate of veggies, and a small portion of healthy fats, I would recommend scaling back your carb portion first. Keep the rest the same and see what happens to the scale. Small tweaks can often lead to big changes.. 4. Do a High Carb, Low-Fat “Refuel Day” (5:12). This is a slightly more advanced one of our weight loss plateau tips and may sound counter-intuitive after the last tip, but high-carb, low-fat refeeds can help to boost your metabolism as a one-day solution. Increasing your carb intake for one day stimulates your body’s production of leptin, which is a hormone that controls hunger and encourages energy expenditure from your fat cells. Two important points here though are 1) This only works when done sporadically, and 2) Your meals MUST be high-carb and low-fat.. 5. Intermittent Fasting (7:39). There are two ways you can do intermittent fasting. The first is known as the 16:8 fast, which means fasting for 16 hours each day and having an 8-hour daily eating window. On our FF30X programs, this works with meal times at 10am, 2pm, and 6pm. The second is a 24-hour, dinner to dinner fast, once per week. This is incredibly effective and beneficial for your health as well as one of the most effective tips for breaking a weight loss plateau.. 6. Supplementation (Green tea, Coffee, Fish oil, Probiotics, Vitamin D3) (9:34). The last of our weight loss plateau solutions is to start taking supplements, specifically those shown above. The thing to remember with supplements is that they are exactly that…supplemental. Following a healthy eating plan, hydrating, and sleeping enough each day should always come before supplementing. Well I don’t have 15 pounds to lose. I’m trying to attack the last 5 pounds. I did the phases twice to lose the 15 pounds I lost. I’m now eating all the foods I was eating in the phases but I eat them as I choose. I’m kinda on Phase 3 for the rest of my life put it that way. I’m 76 years old and I’ve tried many different kinds of diets but have found it as soon as I get off of that process I gained the weight back. I started 5 years ago eating much less, I eat everything I’ve always eaten but reduce the intake by at least half and now I’m 50 pounds lighter enable to maintain my weight.
Look at google images of the results of diabetes. I remember when my sister’s doctor told her that she was developing diabetes, when someone said she should cut way back on carbohydrates and someone else said, “but that’s hard!” Is it harder than losing a foot to diabetes? Your vision? Your life?
I increased my workout to 1hr 5 x weekly. Eating healthy..Seems I am only maintaining and not losing. Seems my clothes fit better. Just going to stick with it. Don’t give up everyone. Try increasing your workout intensity or switching up your workout routine. I started that last week and feel better. Also aim for at least 6 1/2 to 8 hours of sleep. Drink plenty of water!
I live an unprocessed plant-based diet low on sugars and worked out 2 hours a day but Sunday’s for five months and lost… 2. TWO pounds. In five months. also have depression and a ton a stress. This is truth.

1. You’ve got to be a possibility thinker PMA, positive mental attitude
2. Associate with positive people and supportive people. Have a sense of humor
3. Educate yourself on a diet, eating right, lifestyle changes find what works for you and that comes from self-education
4. Avoid the scam claims (ex. 12 stretches you can do to burn fat, how to lose weight in 5 minutes)
5. Stop going out to eat it’s an expensive way to get fat. Prepare food for the whole week so you eat healthy for the whole week.
6. Do not go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. If you’ve brought it home, the battle’s already lost hard to have willpower day after day, especially at the end of the day.
7. Exercise. Be active: go for a walk, work in the garden, do house chores

Weird. I dont know whats wrong with me then, I look the exact same as i did when i first started trying to lose weight…I don’ t think i’m stressing about anything, i use myfitnesspal to track my calories. I measure and weigh EVERYTHING I eat. I don’t eat processed foods. My diet consists of chicken, brown rice, whole wheat bread and pasta, natural peanut butter, eggs, tuna and I love it. so im not upset about what i am eating…my calories are restricted to 1500 which is almost hard for me to get to sometimes because what i eat keeps me full. I do resistance training at least 4 times a week. i drink a lot of water. Im just messed up i guess.

I was 62kg and hve lost to 58kg this early month. But since I hurt my knee so I stop jogging nor do any workout for the past 2 weeks now. Only focusing on my diet. I have lost 32 lbs. since July and still have 30 pounds to go. I was on abilify and I think it has ruined my metabolism. I would excersise over 2 hours a day and diet on a clean keto vegan diet. I have hit a plateau and have weighed the same for 3 months. Could pushing myself at the gym until I am vomiting from back pain every week be the stress doing it? I am disabled. …yeah I’m sorry but I’ve said this for awhile and I’m really coming to see it as it is. The weight loss industry is a billion dollar industry for a reason. If it were just as simple as calorie in/calorie out, exercise and strength training then we’d all be slim with no issue. There are many factors that play into the scientific equation of weight loss, the biggest being genetics. What we eat on a regular basis (“healthy food” included) doesn’t help much either with the many hormones and additives that are injected in our foods.

I just found your video and I wanted to let you know that it was a huge help. I am coming up on my one year anniversary of my lifestyle change. I have a Christian YouTube channel and the Holy Spirit was telling me that our bodies are created by God which are temples and I am 5 foot 7 and I weighed 260 pounds at one time so I was so overweight. I have lost over 50 pounds but I work out six days a week and I have added a lot of muscle. I’m 53 years old and I found muscles I haven’t seen in years and I love the way I look. Like I said I work out six days a week and every single one of those days I do cardio with my weightlifting. I left the doctor in tears after going in confident, wearing pants that didn’t fit that are now loose, only to get weighed and I somehow gained 7 lbs. I think I’ve started hitting a plateau, I was really on a good pace losing weight but all of a sudden it’s almost stopped completely no matter what I do. I JUMPROPE, HIIT and Tabata mixed and workout 6x a week. And walk on Saturday 6am to 8am. at June I was 62, on March I am now 65. but everyone says I looked thin, fit, I see my collarbone and and my clothes are now loose. Weighing scale really doesn’t help.. RIGHT?
According the the TDEE calculator I should be eating 1300 calories a day while doing moderate exercise (3-5x week) to lose 1.5 lbs a week. I’ve been doing this now for 3 weeks and the scale has not budged. I can see myself getting thinner, my waist has shrunk 3 inches and I can see my abs again for the first time in 2 years after having my kids. This is extremely frustrating as I want to be a lower weight and feel feminine again, but the scale just won’t budge. It fluctuates between 145-148 I’m 5’5 my goal is 135 lbs. help? This is like a nightmare. Dedicated to 20 carbs a day and less is an understatement! I am on my feet moving all day from five am till around 8 pm. I fast 20:4. How in the hell have I only lost five pounds in 18 days? I am in full blown ketosis. Moderate to small but absolutely in ketosis. I was SO sick the first two weeks. Any side effect, I had it. I am 53 I know that matters being OLD! (ugh ) I had the T4 blood work, I had the thyroid tests.. You name it I had it. Nothing off. Healthy. I only eat one meal a day for f sakes. Low carb. One snack, usually a low carb muffin. What the hell is going on here? I look flatter in the front but haven’t measured. It’s not how I gauge. If it doesn’t happen fast enough I get discouraged. Clothes feeling better. I also recall my last go round a few years back,… I lost weight all at once. Same scenario. Ugh! Almost 21 days of being totally dedicated, moving and active. My job is rough. I can’t grasp this insanity! Maybe it’s better to take it off this way. I dunno. Sick of it but will NEVER give up. Not in my nature. Ain’t gonna beat me. I was 251 once. But my clothes were still fitting a lot looser and I can tell that I was still going down. Intermittent fasting.and losing inches but the lbs coming off very slow. I used to lose 1 lb per night sometimes. I go 24 hours at least sometimes up to 36 hours.

When mom & dad would come to spaghetti dinner every Sunday we would have a hot loaf of french bread with butter. After dinner the remaining leftover bread went out the back door and uncovered into the dumpster. No way or desire or ability to retreive it from the dumpster. In my home there is NO: cookies, candy, ice cream, cake, pie, soda, chips, pretzels, frosting, sugar, flour. If l desire something sweet, l must get up and either drive or walk to the appropriate satanic store to the specific item l think l need.. Most of the time its just NOT worth the effort, especially if attired in my PJs.

Fasting has helped me in so many ways. I do Mon Fri 20 hrs fast than eat as “clean” as I can. Sat and Sunday I try to do a 16 hour fast but enjoy eating and drinking. Dropped so much fat while keeping muscle. It sounds hard but I eat around 7pm and as I’m up for work at 4 am I go to bed around 10 pm. This means with sleep and travelling it’s is so easy. It took me around a month to get to this level, starting at going 12 hours without eating and then adding one to two hours until I got to the twenty marks. Hope this helps, good luck to everyone. Just don’t diet that puts you in the mind of it’s not permanent. This is just the way you eat from now on, so it’s the norm. But I have noticed the readymade meal aisles have trebled in the last 20 years and the fresh produce shelf space has shrunk. I have always enjoyed cooking meals from scratch for easy and optimal digestion. A healthy digestive system => healthy metabolism => ideal body weight

I was eating at a mom and pop restaurant for lunch today and no lie this lady in front of me was talking to a doctor about her cholesterol saying that she felt her heart was going to stop one day. But she was eating eggs and bacon and gravy with white toast for breakfast lol
Good things on the inside: cereals, canned fruit and low sodium vegetables, tuna, sardines, triscuits, whole grain bread, tea, coffee, nuts, dried fruit, barley, quinoa, rice, seeds, popcorn, beans, legumes, nut butters, dried herbs and spices, nutrition bars….but yes. Other than those few things, stay on the exterior.
Eating my own made from scratch food. I make my own almond milk, chicken stock, soups, chia seed puddings, overnight oatmeal. I’m in the kitchen all the time. Accepting that as a way of life, to include never ending dirty dishes has worked for me. Seeing a registered dietician has been great. Intuitive eating and being compassionate to myself. Lots of sleep! Water has to happen more:) I have body fat to shed, due mainly to depression and not being able to move easily because of that. Lack of energy kept me down. Now I’m getting activity again. Feels good. I’m doing better.
Portion size works for me. I love food and am a small frame, I put on 10 lb. and now I look pregnant. I’m 49. I used to go for walks at night with my daughter. I am now in a new relationship and go from sitting at work driving to my boyfriend’s house, nap maybe, then go to eat out. But I like getting out. Maybe it can change but I don’t want it to right now.
I did all this years ago plus exercising twice a day, I had a 42in waist it’s now 31in!

Well I don’t have 15 pounds to lose. I’m trying to attack the last 5 pounds. I did the phases twice to lose the 15 pounds I lost. I’m now eating all the foods I was eating in the phases but I eat them as I choose. I’m kinda on Phase 3 for the rest of my life put it that way. Still no caffeine, alcohol or any of the other horrible things I was used to eating. I’m hoping by just eating great and clean I’ll shed the 5 more pounds I want to lose. I increased my workout to 1hr 5 x weekly. Eating healthy..Seems I am only maintaining and not losing. Seems my clothes fit better. Just going to stick with it. Don’t give up everyone. Weird. I dont know whats wrong with me then, I look the exact same as i did when i first started trying to lose weight…I don’ t think i’m stressing about anything, i use myfitnesspal to track my calories. I measure and weigh EVERYTHING I eat. I don’t eat processed foods. My diet consists of chicken, brown rice, whole wheat bread and pasta, natural peanut butter, eggs, tuna and I love it. so im not upset about what i am eating…my calories are restricted to 1500 which is almost hard for me to get to sometimes because what i eat keeps me full. I do resistance training at least 4 times a week. i drink a lot of water. Im just messed up i guess.

I was 62kg and hve lost to 58kg this early month. But since I hurt my knee so I stop jogging nor do any workout for the past 2 weeks now. Only focusing on my diet. Have nutrition drink with fruits for breakfast. As for lunch I hve mix rice which mostly were vegetable. I hve half of apple for dinner and warm honey lemon. I have these for the past 2 week since I couldn’t do workout. Today I went to clinic for medical check up and weight myself. It broke my heart when I could only maintain the weight but didn’t lose it. However I did lose inches from 30.5 to 28.2 inches on my waist especially. I feel very disappointed and discouraged. Feel like giving up on my workout journey.

…yeah I’m sorry but I’ve said this for awhile and I’m really coming to see it as it is. The weight loss industry is a billion dollar industry for a reason. If it were just as simple as calorie in/calorie out, exercise and strength training then we’d all be slim with no issue. There are many factors that play into the scientific equation of weight loss, the biggest being genetics. I just found your video and I wanted to let you know that it was a huge help. I am coming up on my one year anniversary of my lifestyle change. I have a Christian YouTube channel and the Holy Spirit was telling me that our bodies are created by God which are temples and I am 5 foot 7 and I weighed 260 pounds at one time so I was so overweight. I have lost over 50 pounds but I work out six days a week and I have added a lot of muscle. I’m 53 years old and I found muscles I haven’t seen in years and I love the way I look. Like I said I work out six days a week and every single one of those days I do cardio with my weightlifting. I left the doctor in tears after going in confident, wearing pants that didn’t fit that are now loose, only to get weighed and I somehow gained 7 lbs. And I fully dropped salt and sugar, counting calories, exercising a lot. It’s crazy because it’s like you don’t know if you’re delusional or if you should eat even less, exercise more. According the the TDEE calculator I should be eating 1300 calories a day while doing moderate exercise (3-5x week) to lose 1.5 lbs a week. I’ve been doing this now for 3 weeks and the scale has not budged. I can see myself getting thinner, my waist has shrunk 3 inches and I can see my abs again for the first time in 2 years after having my kids. This is extremely frustrating as I want to be a lower weight and feel feminine again, but the scale just won’t budge. It fluctuates between 145-148 I’m 5’5 my goal is 135 lbs. help? This is like a nightmare. Dedicated to 20 carbs a day and less is an understatement! I am on my feet moving all day from five am till around 8 pm. I fast 20:4. How in the hell have I only lost five pounds in 18 days? I am in full blown ketosis. Moderate to small but absolutely in ketosis. I was SO sick the first two weeks. Any side effect, I had it. I am 53 I know that matters being OLD! (ugh )
I had the T4 blood work, I had the thyroid tests.. You name it I had it. Nothing off. Healthy.
I only eat one meal a day for f sakes. Low carb. One snack, usually a low carb muffin. What the hell is going on here? I look flatter in the front but haven’t measured. It’s not how I gauge. If it doesn’t happen fast enough I get discouraged. Clothes feeling better. I also recall my last go round a few years back,… I lost weight all at once. Same scenario. Ugh! Almost 21 days of being totally dedicated, moving and active. My job is rough. I can’t grasp this insanity! Maybe it’s better to take it off this way. I dunno. Sick of it but will NEVER give up. Thank you so much for this! I’ve been working hard to loose weight. Last November when I started I weighed 457 pounds. Now I’m down to 325 but my weight just stopped in July. But my clothes were still fitting a lot looser and I can tell that I was still going down. My daughter’s home health nurse even told me to stop weighing myself, you’re losing inches and I can really tell. I started to get discouraged but I’m going to keep on eating healthy and working out.

I LOST 40lbs!!! You ask how? I visited website called NextLevelDiet. I selected only food I like and they provided me with DIET MEAL PLAN, TRAINING PLAN, FITNESS TIPS and HEALTHY RECIPES.
Intermittent fasting.and losing inches but the lbs coming off very slow. I used to lose 1 lb per night sometimes. I go 24 hours at least sometimes up to 36 hours.
Still adhering to a high carb diet? That’s so 1998.. consuming carbs has proven to be very bad for weight loss.. high carb = high insulin levels, that means you will be a fatty, diabetic and die a horrible death..

When mom & dad would come to spaghetti dinner every Sunday we would have a hot loaf of french bread with butter. After dinner the remaining leftover bread went out the back door and uncovered into the dumpster. No way or desire or ability to retreive it from the dumpster.
In my home there is NO: cookies, candy, ice cream, cake, pie, soda, chips, pretzels, frosting, sugar, flour.
If l desire something sweet, l must get up and either drive or walk to the appropriate satanic store to the specific item l think l need.. Most of the time its just NOT worth the effort, especially if attired in my PJs.

Fasting has helped me in so many ways. I do Mon Fri 20 hrs fast than eat as “clean” as I can. Sat and Sunday I try to do a 16 hour fast but enjoy eating and drinking. Dropped so much fat while keeping muscle. It sounds hard but I eat around 7pm and as I’m up for work at 4 am I go to bed around 10 pm. This means with sleep and travelling it’s is so easy. It took me around a month to get to this level, starting at going 12 hours without eating and then adding one to two hours until I got to the twenty marks. Hope this helps, good luck to everyone. Just don’t diet that puts you in the mind of it’s not permanent. This is just the way you eat from now on, so it’s the norm.

You guys are great! I learn so much from this channel. I needed these reminders about weight loss. I’d like to add that adding more water and ruffage may help as well, helping one feel full longer and reducing headache and nausea.

But I have noticed the readymade meal aisles have trebled in the last 20 years and the fresh produce shelf space has shrunk. Biggest mistake we make is eating only one big meal a day.We should be eating 4-5 times small portions with moderate to high activity.

I was eating at a mom and pop restaurant for lunch today and no lie this lady in front of me was talking to a doctor about her cholesterol saying that she felt her heart was going to stop one day. But she was eating eggs and bacon and gravy with white toast for breakfast lol
Good things on the inside: cereals, canned fruit and low sodium vegetables, tuna, sardines, triscuits, whole grain bread, tea, coffee, nuts, dried fruit, barley, quinoa, rice, seeds, popcorn, beans, legumes, nut butters, dried herbs and spices, nutrition bars….but yes. Other than those few things, stay on the exterior.
Eating my own made from scratch food. I make my own almond milk, chicken stock, soups, chia seed puddings, overnight oatmeal. I’m in the kitchen all the time. Accepting that as a way of life, to include never ending dirty dishes has worked for me. Seeing a registered dietician has been great. Intuitive eating and being compassionate to myself. Lots of sleep! Water has to happen more:) I have body fat to shed, due mainly to depression and not being able to move easily because of that. Lack of energy kept me down. Now I’m getting activity again. Feels good. I’m doing better.
Portion size works for me. I love food and am a small frame, I put on 10 lb. and now I look pregnant. I’m 49. I used to go for walks at night with my daughter. I am now in a new relationship and go from sitting at work driving to my boyfriend’s house, nap maybe, then go to eat out. But I like getting out. Maybe it can change but I don’t want it to right now.
