Taking care of your feet has the potential to improve how your entire body moves, yet most of us hide our feet in shoes where they’re so far out of sight that they’re literally out of mind. Having healthy feet has the potential to improve how your entire body moves, but most of us hide our feet in shoes where they’re out of sight and out of mind. You’re probably familiar with the way your car works: Tires contact the ground, translating the force up through the wheels and transmission to propel the car forward. Our feet were designed to be versatile with an infinite number of movements due to the number of joints and intrinsic foot muscles, yet most of us hardly spend time thinking about our feet.
They are the foundation of our body, however, the care and maintenance of our feet is almost unheard of. The feet alone make up a quarter of all the bones in the human body. They have 56 bones, 60 joints, and over 200 muscles, ligaments and tendons. Your feet must not only support your body as you stand, walk, run and jump, but also absorb damaging shock that enters your body every time your heel hits the ground.
