20 Minutes With Mother Nature Lowers Stress “Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.” These words were uttered by Frank Lloyd Wright, considered by many to be one of the finest architects in history. The data showed that 20-30 minutes in nature was the sweet spot for reducing cortisol levels. After 30 minutes, cortisol levels still dropped, but at a slower rate.

If you struggle with stress, try taking 20 minutes out of your day to spend with Mother Nature. Share: Spending Just 20 Minutes Outside Is Proven to Significantly Lower Stress. Spending just 20 minutes connecting with nature can help lower stress hormone levels, according to a study in the April 4, 2019, Frontiers in Psychology. Previous research has shown that interacting with nature reduces stress, but it is not clear how long and how often the engagement needs to be, or even what kind of nature experience is best.

“Our study shows that for the greatest payoff, in terms of efficiently lowering levels of the stress hormone cortisol, you should spend 20 to 30 minutes sitting. Taking at least 20 minutes out of your day to stroll or sit in a place that makes you feel in contact with nature will significantly lower your stress hormone levels. The data revealed that just a twenty-minute nature experience was enough to significantly reduce cortisol levels. But if you spent a little more time immersed in a nature experience, 20 to 30 minutes sitting or walking, cortisol levels dropped at their greatest rate. The findings show that just a 20-minute nature experience was enough to significantly reduce cortisol levels.

Keep outside in mind for less stress. Spending time in nature can help relieve stress and anxiety, improve your mood, and boost feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Whatever you call it – forest bathing, ecotherapy, mindfulness in nature, green time or the wilderness cure humans evolved in the great outdoors, and your brain benefits from a journey back to nature.

  • Everyone;
    If you are feeling down today, remember this:
    Life has its ups and owns! No matter how bad you feel for how long, you will always get better in the end. But if you are ok or not, hang on to what you believe in and who you are.
    I hope that you have an amazing day, whether it’s tomorrow, today, or in a few weeks!

  • vielen Dank liebe Hannah! Das hat mir gerade sehr geholfen, vor allem weil ich momentan total viel seelischen Stress habe und mich dauernd angespannt fühle… ich liebe deine Yoga Videos, mach weiter so! <3

  • You are my ” baba-yojka”, a very beautiful one. I found your video recently and since then I can’t stop practicing. Especially yin yoga, this is something! Thank you for your time and knowledge. I love you both.

  • After the pose at 18:50 I bursted out in a giggle. I felt so much release in an area where has been tension for as long as I can remember. Laughing always felt uncomfortable for me, I always had to force it, even if I found somehing funny laughing just felt ankward for me. When I exploded in a sincere giggle directly after this stretch so much tension released. I am 18 years old right now, and the last time I sincerely giggled like this I was like 7. It is a small thing, but the small things accumulated are the beauty and joy of life. Thank you for guiding me into experiencing this one small thing of which I forgot that I loved it.

  • Da ich gerade von der Schule komme, kann ich gleich super mit dem Video entspannen und freue mich schon total! (Komme übrigens auch vom Podcast, den find ich ebenso klasse! <3)
    Liebe Grüße:D

  • Great videos. How does the man your with do some of the legs together poses? Some I have trouble with and others I have to self adjust properly. Is there certain poses where your testicles go behind the leg or in front of the legs, or certain routines where one pose to the other will keep them right instead of having to adjust because the one pose to the other is not right? Thanks

    How many men in the comments can answer?

  • Wow, I needed this more than I thought! I did a quick and gentle yoga for neck and shoulders video, then this and it really helped my neck pain! I realized the tension was connected to other spots in my spine which were significantly helped by this deep, thorough twisting. <3 <3
