To Kurzer, healthy-ish is a health and wellness philosophy emphasizing a long-term approach rather than a set of harsh restrictions. When following a healthy-ish philosophy, “the thing to focus on is your diet over the course of a week,” says Kurzer. Being healthy means prioritising your physical and mental wellbeing. Choosing to be healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. When you find balance in your life, you are on the right track to feeling your best!
It can be as simple as setting aside 15 minutes for a quick workout, preparing a healthy snack to take with you, or trying a new. Food magazine Bon Appétit joined in the discussion, too, dedicating their January 2016 issue to eating what they call “healthy-ish”—the idea that you should strike a balance between good and good-for-you food. Because 80/20 is a lifestyle rather than a diet, it can take a bit of time and effort to incorporate into your day-to-day routine. It not only helps you live longer, but allows you to live a life full of energy, vitality and maximizes all that life has to offer. Healthy-ish means making the most healthful food decisions you can make, wherever you are.
No one is perfect and food is delicious, so do your best. I want to give you recipes and ideas that can help you be healthier, happier and satisfied. And I want to hear about your healthy-ish meals too.
Healthy-ish: 1-2 margaritas and a few chips every other week while you’re enjoying a dinner with friends. Understand that overall, on average, your diet should consist of healthy choices. Just because there’s a bit of permission to eat less-than-healthy food, doesn’t mean. Healthy to me means eating well, feeling strong and fit, being well rested, and feeling happy. Some things are beyond your own control, like genetics, and life happens, but other things are within your control.
This is where you can try to manage your life to feel healthy. I try to eat balanced food groups everyday and minimize sugars and carbs. Let’s remember how far we’ve come, how far we have to go and to remember that ‘healthy-ish’ is’t just about the food that you put into your body, it’s about the thoughts that you allow into your head.
It means you enjoy life. It means you are happy. It means that bad days are just bad days that happen here and there.
And like physical health, that varies from person to person. Lifestyle blog focused on realistic healthy living on a budget.
