Accelerated aging is the culprit. While the body has an innate ability to repair DNA, this ability weakens as we age. The team from the University of South Wales have identified an NAD+ signaling molecul. The new drug they found, NMN, which converts to NAD+ in the body, helps to activate all seven of the SIRT enzymes (SIRT1-7) which are used during DNA repair.

In mice, this resulted in an increased. Treating mice with an NAD+ ‘booster’ called NMN improved their cells’ ability to repair DNA damage caused by radiation exposure or ageing For the past four years, Professor Sinclair and Dr Wu. The administration of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) has been shown to mitigate aging-related dysfunctions.

However, the safety of NMN in humans have remained unclear. We, therefore, conducted. Nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) are two supplements that have taken the longevity and anti-aging world by storm. With animal studies showing.

Experiments conducted on mice show that treatment with the NAD+ precursor NMN mitigates age-related DNA damage and wards off DNA damage from radiation exposure. If affirmed in further. The cells in the human body are programmed to repair DNA damage. Yet the cells can’t repair such damage as effectively after years of aging.

The UNSW researchers have determined the. Anti-Aging Mechanisms of NAD+ NAD+ promotes longevity through multiple mechanisms including DNA repair. Restoration of NAD+ has been shown to increase lifespan in mice by the human equivalent of 4.

When researchers treated young mice and older mice with a NAD+ “booster” called Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) it improved the animals’ ability to repair DNA damaged by exposure to radiation. The ‘double-agent’ theory may explain why antioxidant supplements have had so little effect on lifespan: they cannot halt mitochondrial leakage, and cells are refractory to overloading with antioxidants, lest they smother the powerful genetic response to injury.

In a variety of ways, telomerase helps prevent end joining fusions not only of telomeres with a double-stranded DNA break, but also of telomeres with other telomeres—all of which provides genomic stability (Chan et al., 2003).

But actually what happens with aging is that NAD, which is the oxidizing side of that NAD/NADH couple, goes down, so we can actually become more reduced, and that’s what drives much of aging.

  • for what I understand nmn allow your body to create NAD+ (C21H27N7O14P2) that will repair your body. Why do you take nmn and not directly NAD+ C21H27N7O14P2?

  • Since NMN has to be converted in the body to NR (nicotinamide riboside) before it can pass through cellular walls, I just buy NR NR has been proven to raise NAD levels. NR is also much cheaper.

Before NR was available, the price for NMN could barely be justified. Now that NR is available, the purchase of NMN can no longer be justified as the NIH published studies show NMN to be inferior.

NMN gives you only fast energy. It’s like giving a red bull to a starving child.

NR compels the body to naturally produce its own NAD and adds energy to the cells to make them work better so that you live longer, because your cells will act like a toddler’s cells.

A couple years ago I encountered a study published in Science (one of the top scientific journals on the planet) showing that giving aged mice a supplement called nicotinamide riboside improved mitochondrial and stem cell function and extended their life span (Zhang et al. Science 352,1436 [2016]). This caught my attention, because there are very few molecules that have been shown to extend the life span of mice in carefully controlled studies, particularly when first administered later in life.

I did a bit more research and found that NR (a.k.a. nicotinamide riboside) is a molecule that your body produces naturally (and gets to a lesser extent from diet) but levels decline substantially with age. It is a precursor for another molecule called NAD+, which is an ancient molecule that has been conserved throughout evolution and is essential for energy production and DNA repair in all cells (two processes that are thought by many to be at the root of aging). More research revealed that NR had been designated by the FDA as GRAS (generally regarded as safe), and a phase I clinical trial in humans had been completed, revealing no adverse effects.

  • I’ve been taking Metformin with my main meal, and at max, twice a day,. NR, with resveratrol, thiamine, ashwaganda,, for about 3 months, with only breakfast, and meal at about 5pm.
The Metformin makes it very easy to get sore muscles with excercise,. When working out, you can feel the muscles really aching next day. I used magnesium bath to help with that. So I might just use 1 500mg Metformin with my main evening meal.
Also, stomach is very squirmy and upset in mornings.
I’ve lost a bit of weight, but not as much as I’d hoped.

  • Apparently senolytics, specifically the combination of dasatinib and quercetin to remove senescent cells looks promising. Also apparently, anabolic steroids (and by extension probably other substances that bind to androgen receptors in the right areas as agonists) increase telomere length etc. Initially it was danazol in a study for that, then nandrolone being looked at for the same thing. But apparently as class most of them should do it.

  • Thanx Rhonda, for an excellent presentation! I’ve heard about this mainly from David Sinclair I am following closely, and I look forward to more input from you!

  • Cut out sugar and simple carbs and reduce complex carbs. Not quite paleo but close. Give yourself 10 quality years. Can’t do that, then just eat twice a day with a good fasting period between, but again no sugars. If you struggle with that then your eating to block your emotions.

  • As we age years of excessive sugar intake, toxins from processed foods, and sleep deprivation takes its toll on the average adult. Before the age of thirty the average adult is sedentary setting the stage for a steady decline in hormones. Waiting twenty more years for a treatment or stop eating at fast food places? It’s your choice

  • Thank you for your presentation. Please keep the updates coming. Regarding Statins, did you know that several studies have been done showing low dose, intermittent treatment (1 month in every 6-12 months) with a statin and a Sartan can rejuvenate the vascular system? Here is one abstract if you want to look further:

  • What sort of person would watch this video and give it a thumbs down! I can imagine them thinking, well maybe not thinking, but say to them selves, err this is rubbish I’d rather die early or get Dementia. However on reflection, it maybe a good thing to remove them from the Gene pool.

  • IIRC Prof David Sinclair asserts he has evidence than Niacinamide will suppress Sirt1, while Niacin will not. ie it may have health benefits but not extend lifespan

  • Always trying to boost big Pharma. Reservatrol does the same thing with 0 side effects.

  • That is great but I expected something concrete for us to do about it now or some supplement to take. Instead of the promise of some new medicine in the future

  • On top of advice of Dr. Sinclair (from this and many other videos) go vegan and watch the change it brings to your body and spirit! 7 years ago my blood work was all over the place, I was over 200lbs. and my health was deteriorating. My coworker suggested I should go on statins, but instead, after watching a few documentaries, (Food Matters, Forks over Knifes, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead etc.) I decided to change my diet. Now I’m vegan for 7 years, my blood work is in perfect normal range without any medications, and my weight is 170lbs, I’m getting better and better with my Bikram Yoga practice (5th year) my life totally changed for 10x better. When I’m in a food store I realize that 90% of what we got on shelves is poisonous junk and that what I actually need is only the produce section. Actually 6 visits to Amazon jungle assured me in it since I was only consuming plants, no bread, sugar, condiments, sodas etc… simply the food we are designed to eat and properly digest. I also try to not overeat and changed my relation with serving sizes… trying to do intermittent fasting… induce autophagy etc. I feel 10x better than 8 years ago before starting my vegan journey. I do not pollute my body, environment and I’m not causing harm to animals. Without all that junk food sensory pleasures/addiction I am actually more satisfied with my diet now since I’m fully aware that what I eat is conscious choice “for good only”, it is very tasty, and I’m silently observing that I’m starting (to my surprise) to be an example for others. Sorry for all of animal eaters who still consume dead corpses… Even pronouncing it feels gross but being a grave for other sentient beings which on top of it kills you and makes you sick… never ever again. It is the same story like with cigarettes 70 years ago… we just need to wake up and wait!

  • You can increase NAD and a standard processing supplement call cataplex B made in the 1940s all you need is 20 ml mg of niacin a day don’t take a hundred don’t take 60 take 20

  • Spirulina has been proven by Japanese scientist to reverse the aging of your circulatory system a teaspoon a day and water you can do this also with a hundred mg of grape seed extract and 300 mg of horse chestnut which I did in 2010 and got off all but one blood pressure medicine and then later on I got off all

  • How about the issue of Statins lowering CoQ10, do you supplement with CoQ10 to prevent this from happening, just like you supplement with B12 with the metformin?

  • Fun fact; big pharma kills more people than heart disease. Do yourself a favor and follow Dr. Darren Schmidt on his You Tube channel. Dr. Berg is a great one to follow, too.

  • Mice. Always mice. When do Clinical Trials begin with actual human beings who are NOT mice. EDIT to add: Just noticed video is nearly TWO YEARS OLD by the time I saw it. So, everyone enjoying their NMN prescription? Thought not…

  • Remember that what works in mice does NOT always mean it will work in humans. In fact sometimes favorable results in mice can have a malicious affect in humans. Human trials overseen by uninvested sources that demonstrate it’s touted effects are what you should wait for before (confidently) taking this everyday.

  • I keep you, Dr Rhonda, will create a multi. One for deficient people. I know you say we require blood testing for correct dose. -and I know we trust you because you don’t push brands. In Australia at least we hear of unscrupulous brands so it’s hard to know which to trust. Thank you again.

  • He said there are two reliable sources of NMN, one company supplies the pure stuff to research laboratories, and the other makes available to consumers as a supplement. He didn’t mention the brand of the supplement or the name of the company that makes it.
Remember, there is lots of fraud in the supplement industry. That’s why we need to find out where to get the good stuff.

  • I disagree. We can look at a person and estimate their age and in most cases be very close. This applies world wide across all cultures and continents. That has to point to a singular clock in all life forms. Figure the clock and you figure life times and change that you change age either way.

  • Oh come on, we just need one person to send bought NMN for testing and we would know that source is safe. If the molecule is NMN it can’t be anything else, the only concern is if this quantity has nothing else in it and it’s not too old and degraded.
