  • This is a wonderful proactive outreach you have accomplished! I’m 68 and no train staff at my large gym even speak to me. You guys are great!

  • I hope you as a professional help your dad with his uneven physique, does look awkward with his swayed arms, fuller muscles on one bicep, forearms and triceps…cannot believe everybody is not being sincere enough to point this out…inspirational nonetheless

  • More pretty songs from Tommy’s heart. The skill, the chops, the embellishments are all thrilling, but Tommy always has a melody, a song that’s nearly singable. “Cantabile” I believe, “singable.” It’s your songs we love, T.E.

  • why the fuck did you stuff that fucking poor old man with all of that testosterone enanthate? do you know how much it raises prostate cancer risk? stupid fuck, hope you won’t turn into a killer!

  • Thoroughly enjoyed your Video!
As a double-but mobile amputee I drew great inspiration from it and will now push harder.
    Stay well and crack on!

  • I wish u all the best with taking care of your dad.. the question is, what supplements does your father take to help him lose the fat??

  • Matt hi. I think you didn’t just get your dad in shape. You probably saved his life from those diseases that hit us middle aged men with that metabolic syndrome dad gut. I’m glad you respect his sacrifices to give his family a better life. He must be so proud of your accomplishments. E

  • Tommy, please come back to Calgary, AB, Canada! I know you have been here previously, but I had not discovered you until I joined Tony Polocastro’s TAC community. I would like to have the opportunity to experience your amazing talent in a live situation.

  • Along with Tommy’s guitar playing his enthusiasm and exuberance are unmatched. He posts so many videos offering his music for free and we still buy his CD’s and attend his shows. He knows if the music is good we won’t be able to get enough of it.

  • Age is a reality of life it’s absolutely not just a “word” or a “number” go and ask your grandfather if that’s true or not or talk to me in 30 years from now, let’s see if it’s just a word. What matters is how you age, what decisions you make not denying reality of life.

  • this is a really heart felt video, I love my dad too and wish to inspire him like you did with yours:) thank you for pushing me to do that!

  • Doping massive which leads to death… That then the penis does not work well and the testicles no longer produce… Better than a normal man but with a nice working cock

  • Holy shit Tommy! It’s not too complex but oh so melodic and great! Please write more songs like this! Really liked that and I rarely tell that…

  • WoW!!!!! WoW!!!! Tommy!!! EXCELLENT!!!!!!!! Tommy Emmanuel’s signature Maton Guitars are available at @t or call Danny Hebert at the Store: 1-418-654-0905 Bye!

  • Oh La LaNice Workout,Nice BodyYes age only just a numberLets be friend here sir,I’ve done to subI am waiting yoursThanks

  • I am in AWE!!!! I can not wait for your show on January 23, in Alexandria, VA! I will be there on Wednesday night front and center!!!! BEYOND EXCITED!!!!! WOW!!!!

  • Just few considerations and personal “perceptions”.

    1. There is a severe need to challenge the “classical” idea of aging and functional status of the older individual. Many (too many probably) older adults and non older adults, medical doctors and healthcare professionals included, associate the idea of “being old” with “being doomed to not function well; being weak or very weak; being ill or not that healthy at all”, like if it is biologically mandatory to have bad conditions of life just as the aging process goes on. Like there is nothing that can effectively and tremendously affect the process of aging in a positive and life-enhancing way.

    2. As a direct consequence of 1. people are normally not concerned with strength and power training at all, thinking that this is something that they could do perhaps when they were younger, assuming that doing it at an advanced age is not feasible and not worthy in terms of life-enhancement outcomes.

    3. There should be some (at least!) sinergies between the general (really not justified in reality, but perpetuated thanks to talks and nothing else) ideas regarding aging and functional capacity and the actual body-wasting lifestyle that is perceived as “the only one that is possible to have”.

    4. There is, to some extent, a foolish fragmentation of parameters regarding exercise. In fact the talk is about exercise like a medicine (like a pill, although non farmaceutical), whereas the outcomes are desired in terms of everyday behavioural conscious action, i.e. lifestyle outcomes. In terms of lifestyle outcomes, maybe the best result would be to have an enormous change in all the limiting beliefs associated with aging and a NATURAL (spontaneous) active (muscle power usage assured) lifestyle since childhood. In other words, a natural active lifestyle should be strongly established in a way that you even do not have to think anymore to prevent loss in functional capacity.

To put it simply: do you breathe when you miss the air or you breathe spontaneously and continuously to support all the other vital physiological processes that keep you alive? So, why to exercise in doses every now and then? (horror: exercise interventions for some months and that’s it.)

The human body starts to break apart after 18…..

This guy: hold my chemical free protein shake bit$h!

  • Вы гитарист от бога, очень хочется чтобы вы послушали советские фильмы и мультфильмы, и переложили на струны. Поверьте очень много хороших тем…

  • You go old because you stop moving, you don’t stop moving because you are old. The body is only as old as the mind thinks. So punch it in the teeth and get on with it. Mobility and fit healthy living are key.

  • Way to go! I bet you feel like a million dollars looking like that at your age. I could not guess your age come to that. Inspiring, more people should be this fit. Thanks for sharing.

  • I am 47 and people tell me i am old while i been training for 33y, i love seeing older people defy there age…. this that amazing, i wanna train til the day i die, the passion as never died in me.

  • yeah it’s just a number when you are taking Testosterone supps. Without TRT… it aint just a number. its REALITY. not to take away from their achievements… but its is a CRUCIAL part of the truth they all leave out.

  • They don’t consider TRT a drug because your body makes testosterone. This man is clearly taking something beside his multivitamin and metamucil.

  • Steroids are just a drug. Despite them still requiring “work” for their gains, I have zero respect for any steroid user. It’s essentially a hack.

  • Thank u I needed this I trained hard for years then my health started to decline & I got scared to train then my health my got worst & I lost confidence and fearful but this just motivated me to try harder! ❤️

  • If you’re going to post, ya gotta get the information right. The oldest bodybuilder is in her 80’s, don’t think she’s 90 ‘s yet & doesn’t roid up like this guy obviously does. Or at least category yer pics & info.

  • You can build this
But you can’t build your internal body

In old age if you are building your body
Than heart related problems like heart attack chances are increase a lot

  • Great Video!  Love to see a father and son enjoying each other’s company.  Hope my son and I interact in a similar manner in the years to come.

  • Great motivation…thank you. Let’s not forget that diet is 70% of the equation. You can work out like a maniac and if you don’t eat right…you won’t see any results.

  • awesome, i have made many changes to my life and am working my way to becoming a better version of myself, it really is just a choice but stuff like this helps to remind me. great job!:)

  • Im 38 and i feel that i was too old and i stop working out, but i saw the video and that motivates me to keep working out again as long as God give me strenght and health

  • This entire video has lots of great moments, but that performance of “The Duke” is amazing. Such a shame more people don’t appreciate this style of musician. Very thankful for you and your gift Tommy, thanks for keeping us musicians on our toes! 😉

  • Trust me, age is not just a number.
There are harsh realities when that “just a number” is over 60.
We can do our best to be physically fit as that “just a number” gets larger.
But you can’t reverse the injuries, diseases, and other realities associated with age.

  • I can’t imagine that there are people out there who are not impressed with what you are achieving. Keep it up. To the very few who threw a dislike…well you know the “sour grapes” story.

  • Come visit people of Pakistan of northern areas according to survey they are the ppl who till 100 have no diseases and they only eat nuts and vegetables not cooked boiled or roasted they don’t eat processed foods and they are fit ppls of world and i don’t think so old men showed in this video are 100% natural may be steroids

  • Matty, such an AMAZING video! It is true, it is never too late! Although I trained a lot in the past, things that happened in my life literally crushed my psychology and stopped me from training. It was about two months ago when I saw myself in the mirror being morbidly obese. Bodyfat percentage over 40% and almost 47 years old! I was shocked! But I made the decision to change.and so I did. Two months later I am at 18% bodyfat and I keep going with a goal to reach 12%. I am not bragging. I am just passing a message: NEVER give up! NEVER think you are too old! If your psyche decides to make the change, the body will follow! Congrats again, Matty for this video and my respect to your dad.

  • Rip acts all cranky but goes around checking in on the local elders and making them strong, he’s really just a care bear haha. Way to go Gus

  • Sadly, Gus has passed away. She will be an inspiration for so many people. Never stop improving yourself!

  • Good on ya!

I’m 42 & have made my apt a small personal gym; tidy, clean, and highly effective when you just want to catch a nice workout at an offtime or when the weather is sh3t.

Glad to see others making their own happiness on their own terms.

    Be well & stay heathly.

  • Lot of growth hormone here folks!!! At this age I don’t care who you are your body just doesn’t produce this kind of muscle without help! Trust me!

  • We all grown old. Some of us, more than a few in America, end up at homes for the aged or senior centers. There’s nothing wrong with this per se. But it should be a basic requirement that all of these support systems have weight rooms and the like. Don’t think of it as a chore, or working out. Think of it as a form of adult play. A very necessary form the older we get, too, eh?

  • This so true, never too late. So funny, I had a conversation well it was more person b. was telling me how wrong I was because when you reach a certain age (whatever that was) you can’t do stuff like this. I was tried to broaden that persons perspective.. but with this video, yeah I hope that the perspective will get wider:)

  • Yeah guys 7 years old here, 200lb bench press 400lb squat 600lb deadlift. You know 100% Natty Tren Hard Anavar give up.
Stronger than most kids my age (which is especially hard) Almost hit puberty.

  • What an incredible inspirational lady! My jaw hit the ground with her standing up straight from a sitting position effortlessly without using her hands. At 91 years old!!!! That is beyond amazing

  • No matter who you are, strength training can benefit you. Whether you’re a 12 year old kid, a 40 year old soccer mom or this 91 year old woman, there is a strength program for yu.

  • Makes you wonder how this video is so close to getting 100k views whereas the idiots at BuzzFeed doing crossfit for the first time has like 4.5 mil views.
This is so inspirational. I’m really glad for Mrs. Rizan.

  • Thought I was going to get inspired by a video of one old man that started working out in his 60s and got shredded. What I actually opened up was a video of a bunch of old men working out with their shirts off to techno music.

  • Im 17 Years old with over 17k followers on Instagram, I produce quality content on training techniques and flexible dieting. Look into my channel Its ideal if your trying to achieve your dream body wether you want to lose weight, gain muscle or get shredded. Give it a look and let me know what you think.

  • At the gym a guy said to me: “it’s easy enough for you younger guys, but I’m 52 you know!” and I replied: “that’s great man, I’m 60”. He was gob-smacked:)

  • Miyasaki’s dream really invokes a spirit of Japan to me, it is beautiful. It is followed by a Celtic piece that had me reminiscing about Scottish Glens. You seem to just keep getting better if that’s possible.

  • Just love the heart and passion that goes into every note, I know your music now for more than 30 years from my time in Australia, when I first saw you at some concert in the Domain or might have been Centennial park?) in Sydney, where you played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestre (I think they were called), amongst others.

  • Where are U based geezer? I could really do with getting back into it and I like the look of your training methods, if we are close enough maybe I could come by and have some sessions with U. Respect.

  • Tommy, you never cease to amaze me and you never disappoint. God Bless and be safe in your travel’s. You only make our heart’s happy. Thank You!!

  • Amazing fitness, but you don’t need to train like him. Focus on the basics and you’ll be more than fine. Get some exercise everyday, eat right. Once in a while, push yourself hard to test your limits.

  • Wow nice song Tommy.!
My wife requested a song from heaven the other day in my nap dream, “Darling have I told you lately that I love you?”. Angel coaxed me threw it in the dream, got up got the piano out played it perfictly twice two different keys..! Only Tommy Emmanuel I dont know that song..! What..? Ever happened to you..?

  • I’m 48 and never been fit. I have heart problems and doctors all my life told me not exercise. Now I’m on disability. I’ll never be fit. I’ve given up. But happy for you.

  • I’m sure you helped him a lot through this, and I can imagine the amount of love, appreciation and respect your father holds for you in his heart. you’re lucky to have such a father with such dedication and he’s lucky to have a son like you!
Much respect to you and your Father.

  • Way too much steroids to be inspirational… It’s more “how to ruin the Little health you are left with. And I am not jealous. I am 60 and feel super fit and healthy. No drugs.

  • you are a god tommy! A tua musica vai estar sempre no meu coração… a tua musica da-me força para viver e força para ajudar quem me rodeia…estamos juntos para sempre meu amigo… tu es pura musica! grande abraço de… Moisés Ramalho Ramos…vem a portugal um dia…:-)

  • Tommy, you make the guitar sound like an orchestra. Your dynamics, and legato are second to none. Thank you from an old guitar picker.

  • how do you want to get to your concert, but is it possible to see you in our city of Korolev? (Russia Moscow region). We are delighted with your creativity, as if I would like to talk with you. Duo guitar and drums.

  • Hi Tommy,
You are a truly superb and unparalleled guitarist your music in its many genres gives me joy and clearly many others. Thank you so much.

  • So impressive, beautiful and inspirational. I’ve been playing finger style for about 45 years, always without a thumb pick. After seeing Tommy’s playing and some videos, I’m starting with the thumb pick. Never realized how muted and weak my bass notes were until I saw one of your vids and took a look (listen) at my playing. Frustrating with the thumb pick, but a good reminder of what it’s like for beginners! Thank you, Tommy!

  • He would look much better if he trimmed “that big curly, distracting mustache” ( He could have one but “neater,” like mine?), though…not necessarily shaving it off completely. People probably focus more on ‘his gigantic mustache” than on his beautiful, muscular body.

  • I just turned 66. I run 5 miles per day, four days a week. I also weight train and do martial arts and train with firearms at the range. I have six pack abs and feel great. My waist size is 32 inches and I weigh 160lbs.

  • I don’t know what to say. I’m in great shape myself, but this guy just motivated me. For the rest of my life to keep going. THANK YOU!!!

  • Truly inspiring, in everyway. As a songwriter, musician, guitarist and person. His playing and ability to write such soulful and fun songs is amazing. Awe inspiring really.

  • music is irritating. excellent form, measured rom, you can see him concentrating on the muscle being worked. He is has lower fat% than his son, certainly inspiring.

  • Every time I hear Tommy play I want to learn that song doesn’t matter which one he is playing thanks Tommy for composing such beautiful songs for the guitar you are such an inspiration to us all. My condolences for you loss of your brother Phil he will be missed.

  • I’m turning 30 this year and I was very depressed because i thought so many things i didn’t achieve until now i would never be able to fulfill… you sir proved me so wrong, is all about what you believe, there isn’t any past, only NOW counts. I will do my best now to become what i always dreamed.

  • I’m 60 years old. I do Crossfit classes MonFriday and Sealfit workouts. I run and Ruck. I’ve completed several Go Ruck and OCR events and 1/2 marathons. I completed the Sealfit 20X 12 hr endurance event at the age of 57. I am currently training for their 24 hr event. I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I had some back problems during a work out and starting thinking that perhaps I’m too old for this… Your video kicked me in the ass and set me straight. ” Trouble is…I just love this stuff…” My thoughts exactly…

  • Don’t you sir but it will be pleasure and honour to see you in person and train with you one day.you are such an amazing character hats off keep going I am 28 and you made me think about myself and what I am doing with my life…..

  • Lack of injuries makes a big difference. I am 55 and it seems like injuries I had younger by car accident or physical sports is catching up to me. I still try to work around the injuries with my workouts but I wish I didn’t have any.

  • There are few people in life that make us all think, they’re doing exactly what God intended they do and, Tommy is one of those people.

  • Mark fantastic motivational training at 54 I’ve just started training again it’s slow and takes longer to recover but I’m getting off the sofa and doing something ur inspirational bro. Ricky Ballymena N.Ireland.

  • Hi Mark, Found your channel, like your content, watched your 500 Ib dead vid,I also lifted 500 last year at 60 yrs old on my channel.NEVER TO OLD.I was born and lived in MATLOCK until i was 10 yrs old then moved to Australia.

  • I can’t tell you how much this video has touched me. I lost my wife last year in March and everything just shutdown for me including excercise. I’m 55yrs old and have reached a crossroad in my life. I’m choked up, crying unconrtrolby and no my wife would want this for me, and so would my son’s. Thank you again for doing this its helping guys like me! God bless.

  • Agree with you 100%
I myself am 56 years young. Got serious about making some positive changes in my life a couple of years back and lost 65lbs
Thanks for the video. Great to see other people taking in life to the fullest!

  • “Sacrifices have to be made, I have a GOAL and VISION in my mind,no excuses acceptable.”….pardon me bro I’m going to make this my mission statement for a year,,I hope you and dad do not mine!!

  • Please, do you use special tuning or all song are in normal tuning (EADGBE)? thanks a lot!….Great! I’m a great fan of you!:)

  • I come back to this video every so often to avoid wimpification. I’m 63 and do pushups with 55 pounds added. You are an inspiration to many old geezers like me. Your comments are running 80 to 1 favorable. Who else can say that? You’ve found something real, that everyone responds to. Thank you.

  • Where does it say use steroids, you punch of pussy fat slobs on sofa. Remember you will be older and then you will relize you f up your fat slob life.. paying for meds and doctors visit to be fat and lazy loser.

  • This is fantastic, what a bloody legend. This guy is in better shape than the majority of 20 year old men. This is proof that older guys can kick ass of they don’t give into societies “your to old” nonsense.

  • Yeah… He’s gotta be on “supplementals”.
Must not have a job. And where do you get those supplements? At my age of 58… I wouldn’t try to look as good as I did at age 40 bodybuilding naturally… unless I had some so-called Supplements.

  • How can you dislike a video like that?!

True inspiration awesome how hard you workout and how creative you created your house gym

  • Thank u,Sir Mark you have put the spark back in my heart, for loving me again..on fire for the Lord..and I am.not going to extinguish the flame of being fit for me. B the best of me in life @ 56 if u can do it..I can 2..
    Thank u…
    My highest reghhards,
    Lourdes 56

  • Nice job, the hardest step.is the first one to the new you. Getting past the number of your age is a difficult step. Proving to yourself you can still perform and be in physical shape is a mind blower.

  • People think as soon as you turn 80 any illness or hospital visit could be your last. If you stay in shape there’s no reason for it to be

  • No job, kids old enough, nothing to do,I’ll do the same if I didn’t have to work mi ass off all day to paid bills and paid taxes.. but is right age is just a number.. look good

  • I believe retirement homes should have some sort of physical training that focuses on getting people there stronger. They might not be the next Arnold, but being stronger will definitely improve their lives.

  • 49 here i train 6 day’s a week… people say your almost 50 slow down.. but i love it… and go to the max almost every day… bodybuilding and crossfit

  • Hi there Matty. I just stumbled across your video. It really is inspirational! I’m 43 & so unfit it hurts, back pain and constant tiredness, being a heavy smoker it’s near on impossible to get upstairs without running out of breath. But after seeing your dad, and his excellent transformation, it’s really given me hope, that I too could turn it around and get fit. Best wishes to you and your dad from across the pond.

  • Thanks for sharing this storey, too say this is inspirational would be an understatement…. I have been in a very similar situation as your father was and recently have started physical training recently aswell.
These kind of real life people who have persevered are the real hero’s and motivators in life! Thanks Again!

  • I hope you are grateful to the lord for the huge luck you have to be able to spent those precious moments some of us never had with your dad.

How would i have loved to life with my dad.

Beautiful and inspiring video that watered my eyes. May mi dad rest in peace and may yours have a long life.

    Bless you bro.

  • Yeah, my body is important to me. But you take this to extreme. It isn’t the only I care of. Mind and soul are the others two fundamental pillars.

  • That’s got to be 1 of the best motivation video I’ve seen.iam 38 been working out for just over 6 years and been finding hard lately to keep motivated for the first time.your in great shape mate this is just what I needed to keep focused

  • I’m 63 and workout regularly. I’m in good shape but not that kind of shape. I recently took it up another level but there’s always yet another level.

  • 59 and finally back at it. Was too fat to do much so 1st cleaned my diet and in the process dropped almost 30 lbs in 6 months. Now improving my flexibility while adding body weight excercise. Hydration my friends is as crucial to health as diet. Now my plan may not be yours, but the point is move, eat and drink properly, and don’t surrender to the lie that you’re too old. (Or too fat, short, tall, slow, poor…)
