Hello! My Tribe,. So what are digestive enzymes? Technically, “enzymes” are compounds that help critical biochemical reactions to happen in your body. These reactions can be anything, from making neurotransmitters like serotonin, to burning food for energy, to breaking down food we eat into smaller pieces that our guts can absorb.. As I just hinted, “digestive enzymes” are specifically those enzymes we use for digestion. They’re enzymes that our digestive system naturally makes and secretes when we eat.. Now, all of the “macronutrients” we eat (carbs, protein & fat) need to be broken down into their individual (smaller) parts so that we can properly absorb and digest them. They’re just too big otherwise, and if we don’t absorb them properly, we can get symptoms of fatigue, malnutrition, digestive distress, or a host of other symptoms.. The most common digestive enzymes you’ll see on product labels are: ● Amylase Helps to break down starch into its sugars.. ● alpha-Galactosidase Helps to break down specific “fermentable carbohydrates” into its sugars.. ● Lactase Helps to break down lactose into its sugars.. ● Protease Helps to break down protein into its amino acids.. ● Bromelain and/or Papain Help to break down protein into its amino acids.. ● Lipase Helps to break down fats into its lipids.. Who should consider taking digestive enzymes? I would always recommend that you see a qualified health care practitioner for an expert opinion on whether your issues can be related to digestion, and which, if any, supplements can help you.. In general, the most common digestive symptoms that enzymes *may* help with are bloating, cramping, and/or diarrhea. Particularly if it happens after eating certain foods (think lactose-intolerance symptoms after eating dairy).. One reason for these symptoms can be that food particles are not broken down properly, and the larger pieces travel further down the digestive tract to the microbiota where those little critters start breaking them down themselves. And this is definitely troublesome for certain people.. Don’t get me wrong, a healthy gut microbiota is absolutely essential for good health. And more and more research is showing just how it can affect not only our digestion, but also our immune system, and even our mood.. What do I need to know? Medical conditions. Of course, you should read the label of any products you take, and take them as directed, especially if they’re not specifically recommended for you by your health care practitioner who knows your history.. Here are two critical things to be aware of: 1 Digestive enzymes that break down carbohydrates into sugars are not recommended for diabetics, or pregnant/breastfeeding women.. This is because taking them breaks down more carbohydrates into sugars than your body normally would; so, anyone at risk of blood sugar issues should take caution.. 2 When it comes to enzymes that break down proteins into amino acids, there are a few people who should avoid them because of potential interactions. That is if you have an ulcer, or are taking blood-thinners or anti-inflammatories, or if you’re having surgery.. The reason is because the digestive enzymes that break down protein are thought to cause or worsen ulcers, as well as have the ability to “thin” the blood and prevent normal clotting.. What do I need to know? Possible Side effects. Using digestive enzyme supplements for a prolonged period of time may well justify an appointment with a knowledgeable practitioner. There may be strategies other than daily supplementation that can serve you better.. If you find that your symptoms get worse, or even if they don’t get better, you should probably stop using them.. Allergies are always a possibility, so if you know or suspect you’re allergic, then you should avoid them.. And, as always, keep supplements away from children.. Before considering a digestive enzyme supplement. You shouldn’t just jump to supplementing with digestive enzymes without a proper diagnosis or trying a few strategies first.. My first recommendation for digestive distress would be to relax more, eat slower, and chew more thoroughly. This helps to break down food and can put less stress on your digestive tract.. The second step would be to try eliminating certain troublesome foods from your diet (dairy & gluten, for example) and see if that helps.. Conclusion: While many supplements are safe products, they’re not all for everyone.. I recommend that you: ● Read your labels carefully (who should take them, how to take them, when to stop taking them).. ● If you have a medical condition or are taking medications to speak with your doctor or pharmacist.. ● If you want expert advice on whether a specific supplement is for you, speak with a qualified health care practitioner.. Hope this helped.. SHARE, COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE.. Love and Health. Uma
Digestive Enzymes are vital for our digestion. In this video, I cover these important proteins and where they are found in our digestive tract.. Digestion starts in the mouth where salivary glands start secreting enzymes. From the mouth, enzymes are added in the stomach, by your pancreas, and your small intestines.. Enzymes mentioned in this video. Lipase, Pepsin, Erepsin,Maltase, Lactase,Sucrase. trypsinogen, chymotrypsinogen, elastase, carboxypeptidase, pancreatic lipase, nucleases, and amylase.. Over-the-counter enzyme supplements are rising in popularity, despite a lack of scientific evidence to support many of the advertised benefits. Brent Bauer, M.D., director of the Mayo Clinic Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program and co-author of an article in the medical journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings on over-the-counter enzyme supplements, explains what they are, describes their pros and cons and offers tips for consumers interested in trying them. For more information, see the Mayo Clinic News Network.
This could explain why more consumers are taking notice of digestive enzyme supplements, which are thought to help the body break down food compounds and increase nutrient absorption, relieving. Your body makes enzymes in the digestive system, including the mouth, stomach, and small intestine. The largest share is the work of the pancreas.
Digestive enzymes help your body break down. Digestive enzymes play a key role in breaking down the food you eat. These proteins speed up chemical reactions that turn nutrients into substances that your digestive tract can absorb. Your saliva.
Digestive enzymes are specifically those enzymes we use for digestion. They’re enzymes that our digestive system naturally makes and secretes when we eat. Now, all of the “macronutrients” we eat (carbs, protein & fat) need to be broken down into their individual (smaller) parts so that we can properly absorb and digest them.
Digestive enzymes are moleculesthat break down food into simpler portionsso that your body can absorb the nutrients it needs. They accelerate chemical reactions by fulfilling specific functions. Without them, your body can’t carry out the digestive process. Digestive Enzymes What Are They, Do You Need Them.
Common digestive issues like gas, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and constipation puts a cramp in your quality of life, especially if they become common. Up to 70 million Americans are affected by a digestive disease, according to the National Institutes of Heath. Digestive enzymes are small proteins that act on specific molecules within foods to break them down. For example, enzyme lactase is responsible for breaking down the milk sugar called lactose.
People who are missing this enzyme are not able. Overeating or drinking to excess strains the pancreas and other organs. Pancreatic enzymes play an essential role in digestion, which, of course, plays a role in how healthy your body is.
Food is fuel! Pancreatic enzymes help break down all the macronutrients you eat —. When a digestive enzyme is taken on an empty stomach, and doesn’t have a job to do there, it moves on over to your blood stream. There, it will remove toxins and waste.
Your liver and immune system give digestive enzymes serious high fives because they don’t have to work as hard! Which digestive enzyme is. Why You Need to Digest Enzymes “Digestive enzymes” is a broad term that includes pancreatic enzymes, plant-derived enzymes and fungal-derived enzymes.
Digestive enzymes may be able to help alleviate gastrointestinal (GI) issues by helping properly break down the.
List of related literature:
There are three enzyme categories: metabolic enzymes, which run body processes, repair damage and heal; digestive enzymes, which assimilate carbohydrates, proteins and fats; and raw food enzymes, which start food digestion, and aid digestive enzymes.
Digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas include trypsin, which aids in digesting protein; amylase, which aids in digesting starch; and lipase, which aids in digesting fats.
Part of digestive tract where digestion occurs Enzyme (Secreted from) Substrate End product Mouth cavity Amylase (Salivary glands) Starch Maltose Crop Amylase (Salivary glands) Starch Maltose Stomach Pepsin (Proventriculus) It is secreted as pepsinogen, converted to active pepsin by HCl.
The best known are the ptyalin of saliva and diastase of the pancreatic juice, which break down starches into soluble sugars, pepsin from the gastric juice and trypsin from the pancreas, which break complex proteins into simple amino acids, and lipase in the intestines, which attacks fats.
The small intestine also secretes digestive enzymes of its own, including peptidases, sucrase, maltase, lactase, and intestinal lipase, which help to complete digestion of proteins, different types of sugars, and fats.
Similarly, digestive enzymes are essential for our ability to absorb nutrients from proteins, carbohydrates and lipids, but these will also break down and inactivate protein, carbohydrate and lipid medicines, such as insulin, heparin and natural prostaglandins, which cannot, therefore, be administered orally.
These enzymes include the carbohydratedigesting enzymes q-dextrinase, maltase, sucrase and lactase, the protein-digesting enzymes aminopeptidase and dipeptidase, and nucleotide-digesting enzymes nucleosidases and phosphatases, as well as enterokinase, the enzyme that activates trypsinogen.
Pancreatic proteases, including trypsin and chymotrypsin (see Table 3.2), continue to break proteins into shorter and shorter chains of amino acids, and pancreatic fat-digesting enzymes, called lipases, break triglycerides into fatty acids and other breakdown products.
Intestinal glands secrete enzymes such as peptidase and enterokinase, which facilitate protein digestion; lipase, which facilities fat digestion; and disaccharidases, maltase, sucrase, and lactase, which facilitate carbohydrate digestion.
Hey Uma Please make video On Green Tea,How to make it perfectly, when we should consume it,how many times we have to take once in a day? And also..Which is better Normal Green Tea or Matcha Green Tea? You never talk about tea..why?
Here’s another one to love, risks taking enzymes? Lol that’s hilarious, sure it won’t cure cancer, but what risk can digestive enzymes really pose? Not enough data means no one’s making enough money off of them to create the trials. Digestive enzymes are at worse neutral and at best will help digest your food. One that i took helped with my heartburn issues too.
Just started taking some Multi_enzymes from The Vitamin Shoppee for digestion and weight loss…WORKING LIKE A CHARM!!! I go to the restroom normal now…LOL..IT’s been SOO LONG and i’m only 35. Dr. Amy Lee Video ad got me interested but got the same product cheaper when i did some research. So far sooo GOOD!!
what is the time period to use these enzymes? you mentioned encouraging the body to create it’s own, but I have a fear of some products that once stopped I will gain because they are no longer on board…is that possible with this. thank you. By the way I LOVE the Fast Metabolism Diet and have been eating this way about 2 years now:)
Digestive enzymes have changed my life. Literally changed my life. Our gut flora has been so damaged by preservatives and pesticides that our own enzymes have been greatly diminished or no longer work like they were intended to work.
I am not lactose intolerant but I have gastroparesis and before I started to supplement with digestive enzymes ten mins or so before I ate anything I would puke my guts up and be constantly sick as if I were experiencing endless food poisoning. The food would remain in my body for much longer and actually begin to rot in my stomach and my intestinal tract. I was constantly bloated also. Daily, every single day. It was hell.
After trying so many things and reading hours and hours and days of stuff about nutrition I decided I would give digestive enzymes a go around two years ago. All of what I described above has vanished(except, ironically, when I forget to take them).
This is not placebo. Many of us have no idea how damaged our gut flora is and many of us will not even realize it until we are older, after decades of abuse from processed foods and preservatives(poisons essentially). I always recommend enzymes to people that tell me they have digestive, reflux and other issues with their stomachs. Their stories are the same as mine.
They have been a game changer. It’s not even a supplement really, it’s just replacing what your stomach has always had when you were young, or more healthy.
I take Enzymes Serrapeptase and Nattokinase I have been healthier, and have had much less pain, also my stiffness in my joints has decreased dramatically. I take them the moment I wake up with a tall glass of water. I literally felt it as it began to work its way into my body over the first few weeks and have been taking it ever since, taking a week break every 6 weeks. My hands were wrecked from boxing and martial arts, my back, knees, & elbows creaked and cracked, Now I know I sound old, but I am in my 30’s It takes a few days to a few weeks to begin to feel the changes depending on who you are I guess, but I began taking them not expecting much. But was extremely happy with the results. I also make a Homemade Ginger/Lemon/Cinnamon/Cayenne Tea, Sweetened with 3/4 Stevia 1/4 Xylitol, it has a bite with a good taste. Its a nice non jittery stimulant as well.
My husband needs enzymes for his pancreas, but the presciption is 375 our price with the insurance paying 500. We were wondering if over the counter enzymes works for people.
Cows milk is poison to humans. Lactose intolerance is a sign of an intelligent body. A real good book is The China Study by T.Collin Campbell. Great read.
My doctor knows so much more about drugs but precious little to nothing about food science. It’s potentially the drugs that cause problems when combined with healthy foods. Do you recognize that Doctor? It seems to be contradictory when an obese doctor dispenses information about health. Do you recognize that too doctor Bauer?
Yes, ask your doctor. So they can put you on an immune suppressant to treat your symptoms today. And treat you again in 5 years when you get cancer. Cha ching$$
Kristi Funk M.D a breast cancer surgeon, tells her patients to take bromelain post surgery to reduce swelling and bruising. I listened to her interview on The Doctors Feb 24, 2017. It’s amazing how she claims the science is in and enzymes help, yet, this doctor isn’t sure. Seems to me he needs to do more research or simply give doctor Kristi a call.
i can tell you all ive had extreme leg and joint pain all my life and i am in excellent shape. the pain would be so bad on some days i had forgooten my name but the level of pain always varied. the doctors tried every hemical which all gave me the worse side effects you can imagine. so i started juicing and was always careful to clean my juicer well and so on but one day i was so tired i said aww screw it and threw in my usuals which i cant recall but what i can recall was that i out part of a pineapple in and mixed it also…… so a few hours latter i was at work and i had this strange scary sensation come over me like a lack of something or something leaving my body in a wierd way and it took maybe 15 minutes for that to cycle through my body………. and i ant explain how much better i felt. i could not even put it into words it was that extreme and noticeable to feel 20 years younger and pain free,,,,,,,, so i even went and played pool that night and i love the game and play well but when i tell you also how lear my mind was from not fighting pain or inflammation it would be a understatement. since then my pain has come and gone so i havent bothered with the pineapple until recently which led me to this site,. so i am looking for a good liquid non alcohol free bromelain. its well worth a shot if any of you need relief.
Does anyone know of any digestive enzymes that are in liquid form? (my mother needs them and she can’t swallow pills due to her mental condition/dementia)? please help
The question, If you consume sugar-related food and then pop a digestive enzyme, doesn’t it get absorbed too quickly thus causing high blood sugar levels??
Digestive enzymes have changed my life. Literally changed my life. Our gut flora has been so damaged by preservatives and pesticides that our own enzymes have been greatly diminished or no longer work like they were intended to work.

My husband and I just started reading your FMD book and we are so excited to start!! I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and with a prolactinoma 4 years ago and it has been the biggest struggle for me. I’ve been seeing an integrative thyroid specialist and have been taking nature-throid amongst other supplements. I still struggle with weight loss And experience weight gain constantly. I seriously hope your plan is my final destination to feeling and looking better!
Thank you so much, I wanted to understand this topic for months but i couldn’t in online classes. @fuseschool made it easier and made it easy to be digested for me
Of course, we don’t have the data. MD’s have been only trained to use expensive Big Pharma drugs. Big Pharma cheats on their data all the time (like throwing out data that is not favorable for their drug). They also ghost write many of the “scientific” papers. Over the counter enzymes can’t be patented so no one will pay for a study. And finally, telling us to ask our doctor about supplements including enzymes??? What a joke!! The typical MD knows next to nothing about anything over the counter especially supplements including enzymes.
I take daily digest spectrum enzymes from enzymedica and I can finally digest food that would bloat me 24/7. Its been a decade since my tummy has been flat.
Also got an intolerance (not allergy) test kit from Target from York labs and after getting the results i stopped eating rhe foods i am intolerant to, i am no longer bloated.
We are not geting stack! you are stack! cause we use those supplements and it does solve our problems and the market is growing and show the direction!
Alright a more natural product I can take to feel save getting off Warfrin! We’ll see how my INR results are. Hate having to take blood thinners, feel like crap on them.
Says the Dr who likely had the standard 2 hours of Nutrition when getting his MD (if that). Medical school has turned most of them into professional drug dealers. What a shame and a sham.
I wonder why this guy is not promoting enzymes because of lack of research oh I forgot big Pharma does not do research on supplements because they can’t make any money off of them
Thanks for the Video clip! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard the talk about Dinanlinson Crazy Tactic Approach (search on google)? It is an awesome exclusive guide for discovering how to use short burst interval training to get that beach body minus the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my friend Sam after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.
I think it’s only “normal” for digestive issues to continue with age due to our diets/stress. Tribal people experience just issues with their none processed food diets or chronic stress.
So I have chronic constipation. I was talking to someone at church about this problem then went to the health grocery store tonight took 3 enzyme pills with dinner and went to the bathroom right after dinner. That never happens. Coincidence?
Hi,i have subscribe your channel, please subscribe my channel,Called(Elijah Wang)the first one. And,what video editor you ues,and thx, because this is my school project.Hope you remember me.
Hey Haylie, loved The Fast Metabolism Diet and thought I’d check out your YouTube channel to see if you recommend any specific enzymes and how to pick the best ones etc.? I’m in the UK so I’m probably not going to be able to get the US brands. The digestive enzyme I get never seem to be that potent:(
I started taking them when I was doing KETO because my novice regimen of macros had me consuming 5-7 tbsp of coconut oil resulting in other complications. I’m a pretty big guy in comparison to a lot of people, I have consumption/nutrition needs. But I think I’ve been taking to many of them. I don’t do KETO anymore, but I sometimes double down on the body experiment after the evenings final meal. My lips get sensitive. Unsure if it’s the variable, but I’m closing in on the inflammatory culprit/additive fast. Focused chances are highly probable. We’ll see tomorrow. I ran out the day prior & the symptoms weren’t there, hint hint. Physique building is a self forge lifestyle experiment/process for me, to be clear. I’ve been taking 4 of them fuckers a day!
I used enzymes for inflammation because of a back injury and they helped line magic. I didn’t experience any side effects but later found it i hadn’t even achieved the maximum dosage. Fine with me they helped my back after suffering for a long long time enzymes helped more than ibuprofen
i have noticed significant changes in my mental health, and physical health, simply by using a product called “” Vitamineral Green “, which is loaded with 85mg worth of digestive enzymes, along-side 30 or so powerful greens and seaweeds. I never had digestive enzymes before this, but found out they are truly beneficial to the body from this one product. i am now a believer, and i LOVE this stuff. it makes me want to go out and seek other digestive enzymes, or to make sure they are included in any supplement i take to increase absorption of the nutrients.
I cant even watch this whole video. This guy is so fat and unhealthy, why would we listen to him. Get your head out of your ass and educate yourself on this matter. By the way lose some weight before you develop cancer
This program really works and it’s mostly easy to follow ( as with anything, you need to be creative.) I am now diabetic and my sugar readings went from 170-256+ to 87-140+ within a week! I lost 20 lbs in a month!
Natural supplements like enzyme are better than synthetic drugs.. Lol lot of people die because of synthetic medicine.. I’d rather take supplements like enzyme coz its already proven and tested to all my family.. Pharmaceutical are just for business..
is it possible?? you seem to be getting even prettier day by day Uma!!!… great and helpful info but I find myself just staring at your pretty self a lot…!!
If you want someone to trust your not trying to scam them you never cut your recording to get a spoon you idiot, you could have press pause and added a bit of water stupid lady, I waisted my time watching you
Enzymes are natural. They are in everything. They saved my life. I have EPI (Exocrine Pancreatitis Insuffincency) where I cannot digest my fats well. I do have to count my fat grams but these helped me immediately (after many painful visits to the hospital, some life threatening) none of the doctors could help me. A nature path put me on them. I will never go off them. We found out I also had Celia, an underlying conditions that attracts other different autoimmune diseases. I have a book where a woman was giving one son enzymes for digestion problems, and gave the other one without digestive problem, but behavioral problems, and it helped him as well. Maybe since they don’t know enough but people are getting help from them, they should research them more. There are other issues at play, like lectins, etc., but enzymes do help.
I was very interested in your post. I was recently diagnosed with esophageal spasms and have already seen 3practioners but to no avail. At the moment I’m using licorice and slippery elm. Can you please help me? Would love to hear from you. Pegs

Ma’am I’m a 22 yr old guy..I’m thinking to go for a complete enzyme supplement… Suggeste me plz..and can I quite them in middle??
Alright a more natural product I can take to feel save getting off Warfrin! We’ll see how my INR results are. Hate having to take blood thinners, feel like crap on them.
Says the Dr who likely had the standard 2 hours of Nutrition when getting his MD (if that). Medical school has turned most of them into professional drug dealers. What a shame and a sham.
Thank you so much. This video makes one understand the topic very well. I undetstood the topic very well and ; would remember it forever
I never had digestive enzymes before this, but found out they are truly beneficial to the body from this one product.
i am now a believer, and i LOVE this stuff. it makes me want to go out and seek other digestive enzymes, or to make sure they are included in any supplement i take to increase absorption of the nutrients.
you must be kidding me.
is this NY bestseller author!?
even a 4th grader can tell that making the oatmeal moist with water is not a chemical reaction
I love this website for all my school stuff. It makes it extremely easier for me to understand everything. Thanks a [email protected]
is it possible?? you seem to be getting even prettier day by day Uma!!!… great and helpful info but I find myself just staring at your pretty self a lot…!!
Pegs
