How to do it: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Draw your right knee into your chest, so that it is putting pressure on your ascending colon. Hold and breathe here for 10-30 breaths. Release and switch sides so that you are drawing your left knee into your chest and your left knee is putting pressure on your descending colon. Hold and breathe for 10-30 breaths.. Why it Works: The pressure being put on your ascending and descending colon by your bent leg helps to move the stool along through your large intestines relieving constipation.. 2. Reclined Side Bend. How to do it: Stay lying on your back, take both of your legs over to the left side of your yoga mat, you can even cross your right ankle over your left ankle. Take your arms overhead and side bend towards the left side so your body is in an arch towards the left. Hold for 10-30 breaths. Repeat to the other side.. Why it works: This pose lengthens first your ascending colon and then your descending colon, relaxing your large intestine so that any cramping and tightening in your intestinal tract can relax, you can release stool with ease and any straining can let go.. 3. Lunge Pose Lunge Pose with a Twist. How to do it: Come up to a quadruped position. Walk your right foot between your hands. Press into your left foot, lift your torso and raise your arms. Feel an opening along your psoas and all along your ascending colon. Hold for 10-30 breaths. Repeat on the left side so you can affect your descending colon as well.. Why it works: This pose lengthens first your ascending colon and then your descending colon, relaxing your large intestine so that any cramping and tightening in your intestinal tract can relax, you can release stool with ease and any straining can let go.. . 4. Marichyasana. How to do it: Come to a comfortable seated position with your legs out in front of you. Bend your right leg. Wrap your left arm around your right leg and turn towards it so you are putting pressure on your ascending colon. Hold for 10-30 breaths. Repeat to the other side so that you are affecting your descending colon.. Why it works: The pressure being put on your ascending and descending colon by your bent leg helps to move the stool along through your large intestines relieving constipation.. 5. Squat or Malasana. How to do it: Stand with your feet hip width apart. Bend your knees and lower down into a squat. Lower your pelvis down right between your ankles. If your heels lift up off the ground place a rolled up yoga mat or blanket under your heels.. Why it works: This pose puts pressure on the ascending and descending colon and helps to move stool along through your large intestines relieving constipation. Parivrtta Trikonasana is a standing, deep-twisting yoga pose that stretches the whole body. It squeezes and massages your digestive organs, while challenging your balance and concentration. It is sometimes used as a counter-pose to Extended Triangle (Utthita Trikonasana).. Bridge Pose. This pose look like the shape of the bridge, so this pose is called as bridge pose. This rejuvenating backbend will open your chest up and keep your spine flexible. Setu Bandhasana will also help to prepare you for more intense backbends. Basically this pose is effective in relaxing the body, reducing stress and helps in digestion.. Downward-Facing Dog. Adho Mukha Svanasana posture replicates a dog bending forward, hence the name downward facing dog pose. These Pelvic Floor Exercises are some of my favorites. Since the pelvic floor muscles are small, it doesn’t take a lot of movement to work them, so it’s best to start with a little and slowly work up. Watch more pelvic exercises here: https://youtu.be/iZdJZjScmCc. The pelvic floor is a group of small muscles along the floor of the pelvis. They help support organs in the pelvis and help with stability in the hip area.. The first exercise is going to be a pelvic tilt. When done correctly, you are not using your legs to tilt at the pelvis, just your pelvic muscles.. Then you can progress to doing pelvic clocks. It’s just like it sounds by imagining you have a clock on your tummy. Then you can tilt at different angles of the clock.\r.
The next exercise is a progressive movement, so you can start with each movement at a time. Place a ball in between your knees. Go into a pelvic tilt and squeeze the ball. If those are easy, then lift your feet to where your hips and knees are at about a 90-degree angle. Then if that’s easy, you can place your hands on the front of your thighs to also activate your hip flexors by pushing into your hands. Try to keep your tilt the whole time..
The last two exercises focus on the obturator internus muscle. It also attaches to the femur bone to help with stability. So it’s a great general hip exercise as well. Place the ball in between your knees again, and while you squeeze into the ball, push your feet outward without moving them with an isometric squeeze.\r.
Finally, wrap a belt or strap around your ankles, and roll onto your stomach. Bend your knees so your feet are up toward the ceiling. Push out into the belt like you are pushing your feet away from each other, and at the same time tighten your core by tucking your tailbone in.. Related Videos:\r.

I had a partial hysterectomy (Uterus, fallopian tubes and cervix) in September 2019. I’m feeling spasms where my Uterus used to be. They’re not painful but they’re frequent. I do sometimes have pain in the area, but not while the spasms happen. I’m thinking my pelvic floor is weak. The spasms are worrying me.

Really loved your shoulder strengthening with resistance band exercises also.
I got pelvic stress fractures during my initial training into the army. After everything was done, I rested for over a month. Went on my first jog since then this morning thinking I was healed, sike. Limping again. My doctors say it’s healed but I still have an unbearable pain when running and certain movements. Like when I pushed my thighs while doing the ball squeeze. I’m so helpless..
Are these good exercises to do before total hip replacement surgery? I don’t have incontinence issues but I heard that post op recovery often it is a problem. Not sure why
I had a vertical abdominal cut for surgery to remove a giant tumor over 15 years ago. I work out a lot but right side of my abdominals have always been weak and tight in groin area. After just doing the first 3 exercises just once my groin is no longer tight and I can feel my pelvis and hip are aligned again. I went to a PT for awhile but could never fix this. THANKS DR JO!!!!!
I have been to probably 8 different pelvic floor specialists, and your exercises are better than all of them. Unfortunately, too many are only into trigger point release, internal work, and breathing exercises and none of that works! Thank you so much for these strength training exercises. wow. this is amazing. i occasionally suffer from poor digestion at night as i try to sleep and have just been taking gravols hoping it helps but for the most part it doesn’t. half way through trying this, i already felt so much better. thank you so much!!!

My Mom is Greek Italian. Our family has always battled with stress and anxiety. As I turned 40 all kind of goofy things started happening with my heath with most of it no fault of it my own. I’ve been working on habits of diet and exercise and only recently with meditation and now yoga. Man it’s powerful stuff. Although I continue to slip into bad eating habits occasionally that ultimately keep me up at night with horrible digestion issues, it’s this video and a 10 minute meditation that flips the script pretty fast. Am I still uncomfortable, only a little after these mindful task. I will try to share this video with anyone I talk to that has similar issues. Thank you so much.

For the exercise where you have the ball and you’re pushing your feet out on the floor…. Is it ok if you slightly lift your hips up? I have a hard time telling if I’m pushing out on my feet and I feel like when I lift my hip slightly it allows more weight on the feet which makes it easier to do the push-out.?? Thank you very much.

I am 11 and have had anxiety lately my stomach/pelvic area has been feeling all wonkey and hurting and mabey looking and feeling like it is caving in. This only happens every morning and ends later on. Idk what is wrong with me. My mom wants to scedule me a doctor apointment but until then what should I do to realeve it? I had a partial hysterectomy (Uterus, fallopian tubes and cervix) in September 2019. I’m feeling spasms where my Uterus used to be. They’re not painful but they’re frequent. I do sometimes have pain in the area, but not while the spasms happen. I’m thinking my pelvic floor is weak. The spasms are worrying me.

I got pelvic stress fractures during my initial training into the army. After everything was done, I rested for over a month. Went on my first jog since then this morning thinking I was healed, sike. Limping again. My doctors say it’s healed but I still have an unbearable pain when running and certain movements. Like when I pushed my thighs while doing the ball squeeze. I’m so helpless..
Are these good exercises to do before total hip replacement surgery? I don’t have incontinence issues but I heard that post op recovery often it is a problem. Not sure why
I had a vertical abdominal cut for surgery to remove a giant tumor over 15 years ago. I work out a lot but right side of my abdominals have always been weak and tight in groin area. After just doing the first 3 exercises just once my groin is no longer tight and I can feel my pelvis and hip are aligned again. I went to a PT for awhile but could never fix this. THANKS DR JO!!!!!
I have been to probably 8 different pelvic floor specialists, and your exercises are better than all of them. Unfortunately, too many are only into trigger point release, internal work, and breathing exercises and none of that works! Thank you so much for these strength training exercises. Just did them with you and already feeling good. Exercise brings blood flow to weaken muscles!:)
