  • I highly disagree. In many instances emotions will cloud the judgement of people. It is best to have a balance between logic and emotion. To be able to step back from a situation and judge wether or not you are fit in that moment to make a decision.

  • 12:50 but what do you do if you HAVE been fired from jobs for making simple mistakes? High pressure industry jobs have made it clear to me that there is NO room for error (yes, even human-level error.) Which has impacted my daily life and I am constantly fearful of making mistakes.   • I m literally taking medication of anixiety disorder, obsessive disorders and depression since 8 years. Catastropising is my brain default mode at my present life.I really really want to get out of this.I wonder can i be out of this medication ever?I genuinely feel how a feelings of having normal and healthy mind and brain feels like.

  • All of this really focuses on self catastrophizing. My catastrophizing tends to focus on things that would be very bad, that wouldn’t be easy to move on from and I don’t think can be learned from. My thoughts are things like what if someone kidnaps my baby? What if my husband dies in a car accident? When he forgets to let me know he’s at work I tend to spiral thinking he’s been in a wreck and he’s dead… those are just a few examples.

  • This video doesn’t help anyone who suffers from depression and anxiety. Sure, it’s cool to know the causes. But you won’t be healed from a video, and a video won’t make you change your life with good advice. That’s not how therapy works. A good therapist will never ever tell you what to do and what not to do. Nobody makes themselves anxious or depressed, these are mental issues they suffer from, and nobody can just snap out of them after watching a more or less insightful video.

  • I’ve met people who are extremely logical almost to the point of being robotic. It seems absurd to make all our decisions with the mind without including our emotions. Everything is a balance but being a logical person can often disconnect you from feeling and only when we feel when we can enter our emotions. Don’t stop feeling because the day you stop feeling it’s the day you’re dead while living.

  • Taking alcohol and medications together is nonsense. Words written in Pali, prakrut,sanskrut,latin Swahili or english are meaningless until one gets to the essence of their meaning. What speaker found is a good technique but useful only when actually applied. Don’t forget psychotic medications are needed same as diabetics medications. With the support of medications diabetic person can become active and is then able to change to healthy lifestyle which further supports him having better life. Same way with the support of medication a psychotic person progresses to some mental health and then can attain additional support of right thinking and action for betterment. Simple long walks also help a lot. The so called sudden feeling of bliss is many a times found in bipolar disorder and it’s related to brain suddenly getting flushed with some chemicals.
    Anyway psychotic medications is a must and the person should visit the psychiatrist as per schedule and give timely feedback for tuning the medications.

  • Just want to point out that emotions wins over logic, but that doesn’t mean that emotion “winning” means emotion is right and logic is wrong. They actually can’t be separated, and when they work together, you act from a balanced, present, wholistic stance. It’s the logic that helps you decide to pick a better emotion, and gives you the tools to formulate how you’re going to do it. Emotion is the then the force that puts it in motion in the world. It’s not a battle… or rather it doesn’t have to be. This battles causes us the be divided against ourselves. Logic and emotion ideally work together. As one.

  • If you focus on the now and you still think you have problems then obviously you are not focused in the now. You are merely thinking about being in the now. It is like people who say I am consciously aware, how can you be consciously aware? Consciousness implies memory, what has memory to do with awareness? There is no such thing as conscious awareness. Likewise problems cannot exist in the now problems are the minds domain.

I get into situations which escalate because of my emotional state and not thinking rationally as a result it gets worse and I end up looking bad, being the bad and apologising for my errors but the injustice that i feel against me gets dismissed which makes me feel worse of me.     Logic Vs Emotions Emotions are always stronger than logic because our emotions are the of our sense of awareness that within it has the depth understanding that shaps a logical perspective we attach to that emotion.
    However, many are mislead by what their emotions mean, other than the cultural definition of them, and therefore are used as the template that determines the perceptions we have.
    Many perceptions have been built up within our minds over many years, however, where we find that emotions are resistant to change from the logical part of our thinking, that logic has no awareness to define its strength and authority over that resistance.
    So, of course, when we challenge old habits, the awareness of those habits is far stronger than the new logic we wish to apply., because we haven’t developed an awareness for it.
    In essence, when the body resists, it is actually saying “we don’t know what you want ” or “we do not understand” and as such the body runs the old program of thought.

    But without emotions and feelings we are just Robots. Someone without emotions and feelings just exists but never lives.

  • I’d just like to say that emotion doesn’t ALWAYS win over logic. A truer expression would be USUALLY or OFTEN wins over logic.
    I’m nearly 70 and the best decisions I ever made were SENSIBLE ones. I didn’t FEEL like doing them and had to use will power to go against my feelings. I could not envisage any good feelings from these decisions but logically knew they were right.
    To keep myself from letting emotion stop me, I just kept saying to myself that all my sensible decisions turned out very well. So I trust my logic over my feelings.

    Emotion always wins over logic. However, you can use this to your advantage by substituting one
    emotion for a stronger emotion that incites the desired action.

    Example: I’m afraid of asking my boss for a raise despite logically deserving to ask. Replace fear of rejection with the excitement for growth, acting upon self-worth, be brave, etc. The point is to emotionally charge yourself in the direction of logic, but not by logic.

  • There is you(spirit,logic) & there is the brain(the tool trough which we interact with the body&the world).

    The more we practice control over our brain, the more enlighted,happy,fulfilled we are! (these levels of control over our brain are called chakras in spirituality. u have all the chakras balanced when you always do what u say…. that is it… this is how u become a buddha,an enlighted, like Jesus & Buddha himself )

    If there is a fight between you(logic) & the brain(how u feel) then the brain always wins. Because both mental & physical energy comes from the brain. (see OBS on the bottom)
    If u want to do something… get the energy from the brain. Tell ur brain what u want & make those pictures really energising, exciting! What exactly to tell ur brain?

    Avoid saying: “i have to achieve this outcome”,”i cant practice this action towards desired outcome”, “i choose this outcome as my goal”,  “I want this outcome”, “I expect this outcome to happen” 
    Instead say:  “i am enough,i dont have to achieve or do anything, What i do,i do it because i choose to”
    “I choose to take responsibility on the outcome(i choose to practice this action towards desired outcome)” notice that take responsability=take action
    “i want to practice this action towards desired outcome because i’ll love to achieve this outcome “
    “I demand myself to put this goal on my nr 1 priority”, “i choose to give myself up completely, to say no to unnecessary things &give it my absolute best”
    “I do my best & dont expect any outcome. The outcome is not for me to control. The only absolute control i have is to control my brain so it gives me energy for action.

    Everything is change, universe is change & what happens is neither good nor bad, it is nature & it happened before & it will happen again in future.
    If things go bad i go madly upset for 5 min (the 5 min rule) but i wont let it unsettle me for longer.
    Have i learned from what happened? if yes then move on bc there is no benefit staying upset.
    As a rule, we only hold on to that which moves us towarrds our goals. If it is not, we let it go.
    Have a diary of decisions. It will be easy to observe the patterns, in order to improve ur decision making. To make decisions quickly & change them very slowly if ever.
    (eg women repeatedly picking wrong men dont figure it out… but with a decision journal… it is easy to connect the dots)

    Motivation, determination, willpower, focus power… all this mental energy come from the brain
    But that is not all… cortisol hormone & other hormones required for physical energy &nutrition, glucose… all physical energy comes from brain. It decides to store it or give it to action

  • I tried every diet. I would start aggressively which would lead to quitting after few days. I realized that I had to gradually make changes instead of going cold turkey. once I did that I lost a bunch of weight right around 30 lb and sugar is a big cause of weight gain and crankiness. Save your life by saving the sugar for ants only.

  • Emotion is more powerful than logic, however it’s important to realise that emotions are interchangeable and don’t have to define you at any point, Take someone feeling depressed from a ‘broken heart’ after being recently dumped, and they’re now feeling completely helpless and emotionally drained, now one might say it’s going to take the dumpee a few months to recover from this emotional breakdown, that might be very true, but let’s just imagine in this same set of circumstances you’ve just won the maga millions jackpot, your emotions have now been transformed by another set of circumstances and your allegedly broken heart has now mysteriously found a way to instantly be whole again.
    An extreme example but demonstrates your emotions are interchangeable under any set of circumstances. The key is to understand that no situation has to define you as everything is subject to change and your awareness of this principle is POWER in it’s self.

  • They all build in the same foundation: detachment. Detach the soul from the ego. From what little I understand, this detachment idea comes from Indian religion(s). Hinduism, Buddhism. Yoga is the physical practice to detach. Yoga: the body is the bow, the yoga positions are the arrow, the target is the soul.

  • A lot of these symptoms or characteristics come from trauma from upbringing. I had a tumultuous and dysfunctional life being raised in lower class society. There was always a disaster, drama and catastrophe.   • I served 30 years in the military. Catastrophizing was how we did business or at least how I did business. It kept me prepared for the unexpected and ensured I could handle anything that came up and often was reinforced by both my successes and failures. If I succeeded, it meant worst case planing and preparing was the best way to act in the future. If I failed at something, it made me try harder to not fail again. Now I’m out of the military for 6 years and have severe anxiety (I had it many years in uniform too). Big time. I invite bad outcomes and events into my life because of my anxiety. I wish I had seen this video in 1980 something, but we didnt have videos back then.

I wish I could just stay at home, not have a social life and work from home and never leave the house because as soon as I do, I’m tempted everywhere with any little sugary thing I see.   • Um all of this is true �� recently I’ve been sitting with my anxiety and giving it space to roam. I slowly built confidence by accepting the discomfort but doing what I need to do anyway. Confidence is not a feeling so much as it is an act. I stopped waiting for my fear to go away and chose to act in confidence. I’m diagnosed with general and social anxiety. Def still feel the physical symptoms of anxiety but I do my best to push through it by taking this video’s advice. Thank you for posting this❤

  • How to get over a negative emotion? The experiences which I had in my past were hurtful when it came to friends! So I use my practical thinking when it comes to friends like not to get too close with them because I don’t want to get hurt again! But,this has build a wall. I’m not like how I used to be! I want to break this wall and be an open and a free person like before! It’s hard to choose between being practical and emotional.

  • The fact that you can think that, simply departing from the wrong thoughts cautiously can solve the problem, is a sign that you have not experienced the depth of it. It’s not a choice for the ones who are truly afflicted. The rational brain wiring simply does not allow it. Those who can alter it cautiously are lucky I guess.

  • There is no reason to believe sugars, plants, etc. were put here for us. They were doing just fine. We might be the unexplained invaders still trying to figure out what to eat. I don’t think it’s carbohydrate.

  • My wake-up call came about a week ago when I had a routine physical exam and the doctor told me, “Your blood sugar is one point below diabetic!” Oops.

    I’ve been a vegan for 18 years, and had quit drinking alcohol 12 years before that—after which I thought I had solved my sugar problem, to tell you the truth. I ended up substituting one addiction for another, of course.

    I have tried to avoid processed foods, yet I know I still have a sweet tooth—as did my grandmother, who lost a toe and then a leg to Type 2 diabetes. (It was well-known she had pulled many of her own teeth by tying a string around the diseased tooth, tying the other end of the string to a doorknob, then slamming the door.) In her later years she was legally blind, and she died at 75 with an enlarged heart.

    This past week of scrutinizing every label has been an eye-opener for me; it seems most processed foods I had taken for granted have some sugar in them: tomato sauce, cheese-flavored crackers, spicy potato chips, even salsa. I spent yesterday throwing away numerous items that had been opened; I’m going to take the unopened jars and boxes and donate them. And the six pints of vegan ice cream in the freezer? Down the toilet.

    This past week I’ve felt a mental clarity that’s a great reinforcer to keep going; although I’ve skimmed articles over the years about “sugar brain” and “sugar belly,” I feel I’m on a new path.

  • The medical costs for excessive sugar must be very high. This makes me wonder why Insurance Companies don’t promote to the Doctors reducing sugar and simple starchy carbohydrates intake.   • I cut massive carb and refine sugar. Drinking green tea like 3-4 times a day, jog 4 times a week for 4 months, from 73kg to 58kg. Now I am weight 52-53kg:) still drinking green tea

  • I thought I made this term up! I used to do this all the time and spiral down the dark hole. Now, I just take those thoughts captive, say “No, that isn’t going to happen.” Or “I won’t think about that unless/until it actually happens.” And don’t let myself dwell on it. I have found prayer helpful as well.

    My experience is that we do not love because love is commanded by a god that we cannot see or hear, we love because its our nature to love, when we’re free to love.

  • My biggest problem is with breakfast. Pretty much in all camps, they have one or two recommendations. Eggs, plain greek yogurt or maybe in vegan is a ton of recipes for tofu or tempeh to mimic non-vegan breakfasts. Some cook needs to give some love to breakfast.

  • Wow, I needed to hear this, especially at 25 minutes. I’m almost 60 and my mother and siblings have always said I was a “bad kid, and bad man or loser.” I have worked so hard to forgive them, the narcissists. I may go a year or 10 not speaking to them. I am handicapped from birth with Kleinfelter Syndrome and although I have recovered from alcohol since age 32 (when I got diagnosed) my family loves to make me miserable any way they can! I’m glad i have a few friends but I need to find an emotional positive support group. My thinking has always been messed up but I naturally attract bad people who try to befriend me and then I am too trusting and then I get ripped off, over and over again. I’m not a “Loser” but it’s good the hear there are so many negative people out there. I have to fight my emotions every day to avoid depression and thinking bad thoughts about myself. What keeps me going most is eating well, no sugar, since I got type 2 diabetes 9 years ago.

  • Have been on a virtually carbless diet for five weeks. Three days in and I had withdrawals. I had someone working as my diet partner that helped me stay strong. After two weeks. I got to have a “cheat” meal. That helped. It was something to look forward to. At five weeks, I have lost 11 lbs and have had one glucose reading over 200. The biggest change has been the insulin issue. I have had to reduce my Lantus from 40 to 24 units per day. I still take homologue but only before lunch and or dinner, but I can’t take more than 8 units. This is the hardest most drastic diet I have ever tried, but seeing the immediate drop in the need for insulin has really helped me stay on the diet. Plus I do get my cheat meal every two week.

  • i used to eat ice cream from the tub every single day. i was addicted to sugar it became such a problem. when i stopped prioritising satisfying my sugar craving, completely stopped buying ice cream for home and refocused my cravings on other wholesome foods i love to eat (eggs, avocado, broccoli), my cravings for ice cream disappeared. now i can enjoy ice cream on occasion when i go out without feeling the need to binge eat it.

    having an 80/20 mindset doesn’t work: it’s like making sure sugar is a part of your everyday diet. so have a no sugar focus, because the chances of sugar and highly processed foods slipping in your diet everyday is very likely regardless.
    but when you do have sugar, eat it as slowly as you possibly can: you’ll enjoy it more and it’ll satisfy your sugar craving much better.
    intermittent fasting was also key for me because i wanted to spend the time i was allowed to eat on wholesome filling foods.

  • I’m experiencing this right now. I got myself into a situation and then I decided not to go through with it and I’m thinking that the person is going to wish bad things on me or my family. I’m thinking about this all day and I can’t even sleep. My chest gets tight and burning sensation. My head feels tight overthinking because I don’t know what the person intentions are. I’m so nervous and scared about this. Talking to the person felt like I was being pressured to do something and pressure to keep sending money. I get chills and I hardly sleep now. How can I heal this. Please help me.

  • Not say I disagree with reducing or cutting out sugar, but I remember hearing of a study out there that claimed kids get hyper because of the excitement around sweet treats, not literally from the sugar itself. Been awhile since I’ve seen it though…

  • This is so me. This is definitely me right now. I needed to see this. I developed debilitating anxiety this year. Catastrophizing is keeping me from doing what I love as a fiction writer because of things like irrational (yet, not impossible) fears of trolls, stalkers, and the existence of highly toxic netizens. I shouldn’t let those things stop me. If millions of other writers can do it, then I should too.

  • i’ve always been a catastrophic thinker, but in general, i just use it to strategize and prepare for situations. because i’m so prepared, i rarely feel anxious. if there’s a situation that i have no way to prepare for, then i just let it go because it’s beyond my control.
