During that passive recovery, each student listened to a different kind of music. After the first workout, it was what researchers described as slow, sedative music at about 70 beats per minute (BPM). The second called for fast, stimulative music at 130 BPM. The third, acting as a control, had no music. New research shows that music can help you clear lactic acid and recover faster AFTER your workout, too.

While the post-workout shake tells your muscles it’s time to rebuild and repair, it’s not enough to fuel recovery by itself. About an hour after your workout, eat a balanced post-workout meal of fresh foods.

For this meal, you want a solid source of protein along with some complex carbohydrates.[2] Now is not the time to skimp on those carbs!

  • Found out my son fractured his heel from an ER visit for something else. He’s nonverbal. We were told the fracture is healing. I’m sitting here wondering if he should have been referred to a PT or bone dr? He hurt the same foot and can’t put weight on it now. ER dr said he doesn’t have a current fracture or break on Xray but he has an old one that’s healing. We were told to try and keep him off the foot, the biggest fear is him hurting something else from another fall since not being able to put weight on his foot is causing him to stumble. They said to follow up with pediatrician if he still can’t put weight on his foot in a week.

  • I’ve been suffering all my life with bad decisions, anxiety, depression, I tend to fall in love with the most basic treats completely disregarding all red flags then next thing I know I’m involved in horrible, energy sucking, money draining relationships, always giving the benefit of the doubt when deep inside I clearly know I’ve been taken advantaged of, sometimes I’m energetic sometimes I’m not.     After digging on the net trying to find meaning to my ways, reasons of why my behaviors, I discovered that apparently I’m exceptionally a true Virgo. Absolutely everything that describes the sign matches my absolute being, it’s was brutally and scary accurate, I wasn’t sure if this was a blessing because to me it all seemed more like a curse.

    I’ve read that most people into this type of stuff have ways to channel positive energy to other humans, if you people are so kind, please take a second and share some positive thoughts in your minds for me.

    I would like for once in my 32 years of existence (33 next month) know what it feels like to be worth something to me, what it feels like to walk away from negativity, what it feels like to say NO when it doesn’t bring me peace or happiness, what it feels like being happy when I’m just with myself, I realize that in order to be truly loved I must love myself and honestly, I &don’t know how to do that.

    2 days ago I had worked out pretty hard with weights after not doing much through the winter but only light lifting, and last night my muscles were so sore and achy I could not sleep, it was a a horrible feeling, like having the flu!   • After arthroscopic surgery in 2012, and a bigger “do-over” in 2014 (Cotton & Evans osteotomies with PTT), my left ankle has decided to stay stuck at about a 4-week post-op condition, in regards to recovery. I’ve made the rounds with several PTs (some follow McKenzie, some are hands-on, some who are strictly exercise-only, etc), all referred by my Ortho docs. I have a growing collection of boots, braces, custom orthotics, etc., can write a book with my toes (doing the ABCs at expert level!) and on and on it goes. Still so much swelling, pain, scars look more like fresh incisions instead of 5-year-old scars.

  • Ortho said…no weight bearing on broken 5th metatarsal… your muscles will atrophy but I’m. 39 so doesn’t matter? Anyone have to sleep in boot? Sucks! He also told,e not to do anything in case I accidentally pull a foot tendon. My quality of life is going to suffer. Why didn’t he recommend this? I have two kids and was working out twice a day.   • I have a persistent nonunion after three foot surgeries. Cannot even put any weight on the foot— feels like I just had surgery and did not get a cast. Triple arthrodesis, smart toe implants ( against my expresses will), five screws and two staples. I do leg and hip exercises in bed or chair. It has been almost 3 years of big pain and loss of mobility (I used to be a hiker, climber, always active). Sucks

    I went to gym this Monday, destroyed the whole thing, got home, thought about using this but didnt
    Next morning I could barely stretch my arms completely, felt like I was in a car crash
    Then I began using
    Went this Wednesday, same thing
    Got home, used it
    It still hurts a little because I really push myself, but the pain is much, much lower
    Just dont use too much at once, half an hour, then some hours later again, else you’ll get headaches

  • This is genius and underrated. I wish I had found out about subliminals earlier. I just started working out. I started a hobby of running (or attempting to run a mile every day) after the third day I couldn’t do it because I was so sore. I’m 2 days post my last run and I’m still really sore and finding it hard to sleep without pain medication. I’m going to try this directly after my next workout and see if it helps. I’m also going to try stretching before and after.

  • Hi, i had ankle fracture and surgery 1 year ago. But still i have stiffness, whenever i exercise and walk then it gets fine. But if I stay still for few hours or every morning when i wake up it is still stiff. Please help me on this, how to fix it permanently.

  • Can you put a heating pad on your painful foot. I broke my ankle in March. I just got an ok three weeks ago to partial weight bare then to to full weight bare. Dr said I should be able to full weight bare. But last night I was in a lot of pain last night. Tylenol is not helping much. I was suppose to have surgery but I broke my ankle at beginning of pandemic and was scared. So I asked if there was any way I could get away without surgery. He said I would have to be in boot 24 hours a day a month longer. Then on my last xray, he said I should be able to full weight bare! Telephone visit. I went into hospital to get the X-ray. They don’t want you coming in because of the virus!! I am so depressed I don’t know what to do!!

  • I’m a competitive runner. I’m not the fastest in the world but my fastest mile is 6:20 in high school. I can probably do about a 7:10 now. I’m more interested in half marathons now with my best time being nearly under 2 hours. ☺️ Been a runner since 2008 and I’ve come a long way. From doing a 9 min mile that made me puke to now running half marathons and 7ish min miles. I don’t have a ton of natural speed or stamina but I’ve got a ton of endurance. Can go forever if I Cruze along at 11 min or so per mile. My body has problems with recovery so I’m very glad to find this video a while ago. I find it helpful Along with all my other post run regime. My goal is to break 2 hours on my 13.1 and do a marathon as well. Thanks again for this video!! ����
