A study of 959 people found that people aged 70 had 20 pounds (9 kg) less muscle mass and 11% slower resting metabolism (RMR) than people aged 40 ( 12 ). Because muscle mass is affected by your. There is no one age where the metabolism comes to a screeching halt. If a person is eating healthily (like they should be) and maintaining a regular program of cardio and strength training (like they should be) then the entire aging process is going to be that much “nicer” to you.

Your basal energy expenditure, or the amount of energy for your body to conduct basic functions like breathing, decreases by up to 10 percent by age 50, and 20 to 25 percent by age 70, Halas-Liang said. The less energy you expend, the fewer calories you burn. (But this is how you can give your metabolism a nudge.). 20 Ways to Maintain a Fast Metabolism As You Age Everyone wants a fast metabolism that works to blast away calories, but it becomes more and more elusive as we age.

Once you hit your. Thermogenesis, the food processing part of your metabolism, actually stays fairly steady throughout your adult life. The illusion that your metabolism slows as you age actually occurs because as you get older, your muscle mass decreases and your amount of fat tends to increase, decreasing your BMR and the amount of calories your body burns. “Your metabolism slows way down and it actually starts breaking down metabolism-boosting muscle for energy.” For most women, this happens when calorie intake dips below about 1,200 calories a day.

Building Muscle Becomes a Non-Negotiable Okay, so this is a must at any age, but around age 40, your body’s natural decline in muscle mass, called sarcopenia, sets in. To combat the loss of lean. Health experts identify the everyday habits that can lead to a slow metabolism and offer tips on how to give it a boost to stay healthy.

The post 11 Everyday Habits That Secretly Slow Your. Not enough evidence exists to purposefully slow your metabolism with calorie restriction. You should never try to maintain a slow metabolism by avoiding thyroid medications, either.

Support the metabolism you do have with a healthy diet that contains plenty of high-nutrient, low-calorie foods supports overall wellbeing and weight control. Gradney says your metabolism may start to decline very slowly in your 30s and 40s, but lifestyle changes during this time (that you may not even know you’re making) are usually more responsible for.

Based on the current knowledge of nutrition, it is assumed that energy allowances should decrease by about 6% between 51 and 75 years of age, and by another 6% after 76 years, about two-thirds of the decrease being due to decreased physical activity, and one-third to decreases in the resting metabolism (98).

It is a good one off guide for learning how to control your metabolism to lose weight minus the normal expense. • Why can’t they every make one for skinny like damn skinny people need help too everything always about fat people as hard it is to loss weight that how hard it is to gain weight even harder

  • Since I`ve started out this kind of dietary regimen I`ve dropped 17 lbs. It’s miraculous to have a potential final result from this. This diet routine gives good results extremely fast and I enjoy it. There is certainly a big difference about how my t-shirt will fit right now when compared Six days ago. • Me: eats 12 ice cream cones Dosent gain a pound

My friends: eats 1 ice cream cone gains 100 pounds

Also me: weighs 112 pounds 13 and skinny

  • Working out everyday. HIIT….weights, upper and lower and eating healthy food. Not a diet…healthy meals always. Working out *every* day.

  • I thought I was invincible until I started eating McDonald’s regularly….that food company needs to be shut down fast cause less fortunate people will blow up like balloons if they eat that junk

  • I was 326 and now I dropped to 210 in a year watching what I eat and working out but it’s not hard, just stfu figure out what works for you, we’re all different

  • You guys are SO generous with your time, knowledge and workouts!  THANK YOU for being so awesome (I refer a ton of friends to your workouts!)!

  • ALL THESE COMMENTS ARE COMPLAING BRUH ITS MY FRICKING DREAM TO GET A FAST METABOLISM MY BFF EATS MORE THAN I EAT ATLEASTTT 20 TIMES AND 50 TIMES THE CALORIES AND SHES SO SKINNY EVERYONE LOVES HER *im so happy for her BUT I EAT A APPLE AND GAIN 2 POUNDS

  • i think i have a slow one:(( i’m not overweight or anything but i def have to eat under 1000 cals to lose anything. anything over that makes me gain. all i want is to be skinny

  • my metabolism slowed down horribly due to my ultra sedentary lifestyle during uni. I have started exercising 4 months ago, and although I barely lost any weight (in centimetres, too), my fitness and endurance have improved a lot. I just decided I do not want to be tired and unfit like many other people I see around me (gonna be 30 soon!). Since last week I also started to incorporate regular morning and late afternoon walks if I just plan to stay at home the rest of the day. and I try to leave my desk every hour for a couple of minutes when I work.

It has gotten easier and easier for me to convince myself to exercise. And you played a big part in me getting to love exercising but allowing my body to rest for a day or two when it is tired. That is something I could not do before, which is why I think I never stuck to my routine for more than a month before giving up. So far, this is longest I was able to stick to a routine of exercising 4-5 times per week. Thanks you guys!

  • Nice video content! Excuse me for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about Senarper Wordless Supremacy (search on google)? • very useful video about Metabolism, You can find some extra tips using following video. Please check it.

  • People are over weight because they eat too much, your ” friend” who eats what ever they want and never gain weight they are able to do that cause they eat when hungry and stop when full and don’t binge and eat excess amounts of food on a regular basis. Unless you have an actual medical condition that makes it hard for you to lose weight like POS you’re just eating for too much and you know it.

  • 30% of overweight persons have no heart disease, diabetes, etc. They are metabolically healthy and don’t develop health problems.
20% of thin people do develop health problems.

  • All of these people in the comments are all taller than me and weigh less than me. With a very fast metabolism, too. And it is making me go like:

  • I’m 5’3 and weight 135. I struggle a lot with my weight, but my goal is 95 lbs. I would abuse laxatives and sometimes force myself to puke. i want to lose wight healthly and keep it off.

  • Could you please guys do an intense cardio/hiit workout where you don’t have to use your wrist? Mine is injured but I still want to workout.

  • I used to have a fast metabolism, but I had people in my life who were really close to me telling me that I’ll be anorexic when I grow up and that scared me as a little kid and one day I forced feed myself to get rid of my metabolism and now I hate my body even more

  • Lovely Video clip! Forgive me for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard the talk about Millawdon Right Nourishment Trick (probably on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for boost metabolism with high carbs food without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my close friend Aubrey at very last got excellent success with it.

  • Thanks you so much for you encouragement I’m in a bit of a stagnant period of time at the moment I’m 41 years old! I look younger then I am, I workout every day but getting feed up with it all and the weight is creeping on I’m just going to start running again and see how that makes me feel!

  • Great Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched Millawdon Right Nourishment Trick (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing one off product for boost metabolism with high carbs food without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my friend after many years got astronomical success with it.

  • Hi there, have you considered Custokebon Secrets yet? Simply just do a search engine search. On there you’ll discover an awesome suggestions about how exactly you can lost lots of weight. Why not give it a chance? maybe it is going to work for you too.

  • Its still surprise me, how some people have no idea about Custokebon Secrets, although a lot of people get great result because of it. Thanks to my buddy who told me about Custokebon Secrets, I have lost lots of weight with it without starving myself.

  • It’s interesting that I got to watch this video today, just a day after I was told that metabolism slows down significantly at 30 (I’ll be 30 in a few months). Thanks for putting that thought/myth to rest. The video is timely.

  • Talks about the damn pituitary gland and talks about metabolism and how to make our stomachs digest food good and fast and concluded the video by telling us to eat some damn nuts.

  • I too don´t believe in what people are selling when they say that their product is “clean”. Clean food is food that is natural and not processed. One question, though. Is coffee that detrimental to health? I tend to drink a cup a day and I don´t depend on it but do enjoy the taste. Just want to know:)

  • I used to be soo skinny when i was a kid litterly every one will say go eat yoir soo skinny and stuff and then boom when i hit puberty and started my period everything got real bad…. my skin literlly was soo clear not a single pimple now it’s full of acne..my weight omg i gained more that 10 kg in 3.5 years literally if i eat a burger i will gain 5 more kg i use to eat everything when i was a kid litterly everything eat a full pizza+a Barre of chocolate + 2 full pack of cookie + 1L of soda + a bag of gummies +a piece of cake and i want gain 0.1kg now taste a peace of cake gain 5kg it sucks and i don’t know why…. i want to cryyy

  • i’m literally so mad at people with fast metabolisms COMPLAINING about it. like seriously? i understand that looking severely underweight is a problem, but when your body is at an average weight, you don’t have to fucking worry about gaining weight from eating junk, ur out here complaining about ‘i’m so skinnyyy ugh ’ like fuck you. i would feel so fucking BLESSED if i regained my fast metabolism. some of y’all should be more grateful about not having to actually exercise to be thin.

  • Cheers for the Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you considered Millawdon Right Nourishment Trick (do a google search)? It is a good one off product for boost metabolism with high carbs food without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my friend finally got great results with it.

  • Everyone here: I’m 14, 93 pounds, and my metabolism is fast!
Me: I’m 14, very VERY veeeerrryyyy overweight, and my metabolism is so slow that it just doesn’t exist at this point

  • Excellent Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about Parlandealey Boosting Metabolism Process (google it)? It is a good one off product for learning how to reprogram metabolism to burn more fat minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate after many years got great results with it.

  • You don’t understand, I have to eat literally every 1 hour or I feel dizzy and hungry, it’s an inconvenience, I don’t like it, it hinders my work, why would you want this, if I had a slow metabolism I could just eat once a day and get away with it, but I can’t:(

  • At age 26, I started getting real serious about my health shortly before graduating university, thanks largely to my boyfriend’s personal training and your videos, and 4.5 years later, I am in much better shape now than before. Thank you folks!

  • Great advice guys! Question: ive been doing all I can to get back in shape and eat more healthier. Ive been eating small 6 meals instead of 3 big meals, drinking a big glass of water in the morning to get my metabolism started etc. But what I want to know now is if my metabolism HAS improved. Are there any indicators that show my metabolism has improved??

  • my metabolism is like medium ig. when i eat, i gain some pounds but not a lot which is good cause these people with very fast metabolism get hungry fast and people with slow metabolism are overweight, so im glad my metabolism is not too fast but not too slow too.

  • Im 12 and my height recently reached 5’3 and i am skinny that they call me a stick because im tall and skinny at the same time i do eat alot of food and loves vegetables but i still got ppl comparing their hands to my hand and until now… its still the same well i might’ve extremely fast metabolism

  • Nice Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about Parlandealey Boosting Metabolism Process (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one of a kind product for learning how to reprogram metabolism to burn more fat minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my GF after a lifetime of fighting got cool results with it.

  • Just want to let Daniel and Kelli know that their videos have helped me get into girl’s track at my school and I use them to help build healthy habits now so I can carry them my entire life. The funny thing is that what motivated me to start working out also was a fear of getting older and having a harder time to work out.

  • 67 years old now and brisk walking up to 80 miles per month keeps me in fairly good cardio shape but I really do need to work on upper body muscle loss any suggestions, guys??
Just LUV the video and its positive, thought-provoking, light-but -serious style congratulations and thanks!!

  • My skinny friend who doesn’t do sports: eats 9 cookies, 12 pancakes, 23 strawberries, and an entire pack of ice cream while not gaining weight

Me: eats a slice of pizza and gains 6 pounds

  • I have been using your videos for about 3 weeks now to work out and I’m in love with it. I am 20 and all my life I have been over weight, I was really enjoying working out but for some reason I haven’t done it for the last 4 days. And you guys completely motivated me to keep going! I love this video you guys should do some motivational videos, can you show pictures from when you were 30 lbs heavier! Love your vids guys!!

  • Damn Doc…. A brotha can’t get a PG warning? I really didn’t need to see a brain on the table. I’m sure it was real because they out on gloves. Yuck!

  • I am Genuinely so confused

I was a skinny kid but then hit puberty and got chubby and kinda big boned and right now like right this moment my weight will not move from 148-149 so I’m confused is my Metabolism Fast or Slow????

  • What happens if your metabolism is very slow from many years of starvation diets and minimal exercise? You state that you can keep your metabolism high but is it possible to fix your metabolism when it’s sluggish? Is it possible to fix a damaged metabolism/adrenal fatigue?

  • Appreciate Video! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you considered Parlandealey Boosting Metabolism Process (search on google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for learning how to reprogram metabolism to burn more fat minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work buddy got amazing success with it.

  • Trying to figure out if my metabolism is insanely highI lost 230 pounds in a single year, but I’m still trying to pass off dinner as a light snack! I need to know what’s wrong with me!

  • Just because ur metabolism is fast doesnt mean ur healthy. It s just ur body doesnt accept that much nutrients too becos it neglects most of the foods that u eat fast. Being healthy is about eating healthy and having a healthy lifestyle, despite of having low or fast metabolism or whatever body size u r.

  • Great Video! Sorry for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched Parlandealey Boosting Metabolism Process (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for learning how to reprogram metabolism to burn more fat minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.

  • What I’d like to know is WHY fitness and maintaining muscle mass is so much more difficult as we age. As a 44 year old woman I can absolutely attest for myself that maintenance is far more difficult than it was in my 30’s. Any help?

  • I have always worked out on and off and it was easy for me to lose weight in my 20’s but I was never consistent. Now in my mid 30’s it has been a struggle but I’m not giving up. Thanks for the tip

  • 2 years ago when I was 10 I weighted 64kg 141lb I was crying all day everyday to lose weight but I can’t from my slow metabolism but now I’m 12 and 51 kg 112 lb I still need to lose more but I can’t from my slow metabolism but keep in mind I’m 5’1

  • My brother: * drinks soda instead of water, eats junk food in large portions, sits at computer all day *
Also my brother: * still skinny as hell *
Me: * does the same but doesn’t drink soda, eats less junk food in smaller portions, and tries to exercise when I feel like it*
Also Me: * is a chubby monster *

  • My magic age seems to be 40, can’t eat fast food like I did in my 30s, I stopped working out for a few months and now I’m 30 lbs heavier. Getting back into a routine is proving harder than I planned. one day at a time…

  • Hi guys! Love your videos.
    Q. I work out about 3 to 5 times a week on my lower body (specifically for a bigger rounder butt) and for the first year it worked and I have build muscle but I feel like I have hit a peak where even if I keep working out my butt gets toned but not bigger. Is there any way to build more muscle? Or is there a piont where you can’t anymore because of your body type?

  • …just the idea that your brain can single-handedly defy the laws of physics all by itself and somehow magically keep you at 225 lbs when you only eat 500 cal a day for 3 months is beyond ridiculous. the germans would have had camps full of chubby prisoners who never died of starvation or hunger/weight related issues or ailments. yes,..it does play a role. a minor role. much less of a role than your caloric intake. it will try. it will FAIL. it might extend a weight loss plateau,…briefly,….but saying it will do the impossible is just another type of cop-out or excuse. -look up “rationalizing”.  look up “denial”. the calories we burn making excuses can push a freight train. and we are the masters of denial and our ability to re-assign blame whenever its convenient is simply ridiculous. -but you can go on thinking that its your BRAIN keeping you from losing weight. LOOOOOOL!!!! lol. whatever. stay fat.

  • I was once skinny as hell and everyone told me that you are a skeleton and didn’t really let me exercise and now I am getting healthy and they tell me I am fat they need to fuck off

  • My friends eat burgers, chips, fries, pizza all day long and they don’t gain a single pound

And if I eat one single cookie my ass would be on 600 Ib life

  • Appreciate Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you tried Millawdon Right Nourishment Trick (do a google search)? It is a great one off product for boost metabolism with high carbs food without the hard work. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my friend Sam finally got great results with it.

  • @FitnessBlender im underweight and skinny but i have thick belly fat too. what do you think would be the best workout for me? people tell me not to workout anymore because im already too thin.but im dying to lose my belly fat.

  • My metabolism is insanely fast if i am doing anything active (which is a lot) i can easily burn all the food i had in no time at all, i mean i can go from full to hungry in an hour, this is great if u need to to something physically demanding but for a short time if no food is present. I discovered this when last summer i decided to help out my close friend with his landscaping business, he is a big buy so anytime he ate he would be tired so over the years he started to not eat anything until late at night( i strongly discourage this) so it would be really frustrating as I would get tired fast but when i had food I would have basically infinite amounts of energy for the next 90-120 min haha, also i want to mention that if i am say staying home on a weekend or something the desire to eat is very minimal so without any effort i end up fasting for the whole morning and often half of the afternoon.

  • I was chubby in college (poor diet, no exercise). I lost it all in my 30’s after I had my kids (better diet, fit and active husband) and have kept it off (more or less) for 15 years. What I DID notice in my late 40’s was that my muscle tone was quickly disappearing, so I’ve added strength training. Feeling much better and looking forward to the 50’s. FB has been SO helpful with that. Wrinkles have nothing to do with anything. Still a lot of living ahead, Lord willing.

  • Im 80 above kgs, i do all house chores, i go outside, i don’t really exercise because i dont really have time to do so because i takecare of the house with my mum and make food etc etc. My metabolism is very slow i eat once a day and the quantity is very little.

Meanwhile my brother eats 2 to 3 times more then me, has a fast motabolism, sits on his ass the whole day and is very unproductive and useless. And weights 45 or 46 kgs or so and he’s pretty slim.
Life is unfair if you ask me ‍♀️

  • Okay I’m sick of yall saying that you have fast metabolism. Like I am so disgusted by myself. I have almost 70kg and I’m 14. I AM A GIRL. I hate my body. If I wanna lose at least 1kg then I have to starve for the whole week.

  • Im literally the only kid in my class who doesn’t have a fast metabolism, everyone else can eat how much they want and what ever they want without getting fat, and then there’s me eating an ice cream and gaining 100 pounds. It sucks, i want to have fast metabolism and be skinny so bad:(
    Its so unfair

  • Kudos for the Video! Excuse me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard about Parlandealey Boosting Metabolism Process (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great one of a kind product for learning how to reprogram metabolism to burn more fat without the hard work. • Lucky ass people who have a fast metabolism I’ve always been chubby (not super chunky just a lil) I stopped eating (fasting) and I lost hella weight I could almost see my abs and I could already tell I have a slow ass metabolism I want to eat food

  • Honestly I don’t know what to do anymore. I drink a lot of water. I exercise and eat rlly healthy. I eat prunes I drink this thing called ibgard. And I’m here gaining weight and getting constipation. While my friend eats up everything she sees and doesn’t gain anything ( I’m 13 and my metabolism is the slowest ) I think something is wrong with me. Also my monthly visitor is very very veryyyyyyyyyyu late. I told my mom about my issues and she asked me if I ever had it which is very upsetting ngl because I’m 13 ew. So now I think I’m pregnant..,jkjkkk ewwww I think something is wrong with my nerves or somethin I rlly need to see a doctor sry for putting this out it’s rlly tmi

  • Hey y’all.
I’m 28 and weigh 90kg (198lbs). My goal is to reach 70kg but my metabolism is really slow. I gym twice a day, eat once a day yet it took me 3 weeks just to lose 1kg. Any advice please?

  • What really works is to excercise bc u waste lot of energy so u need to eat more and u increase ur fat less I mean u don’t even get fat I’m strong as fuck and have fast metabolism

  • I have to push myself to exercise due to a underactive thyroid. Since I was diagnosed /w/ this my energy dropped. But I push myself & once I get moving I’m good. It’s just getting started which is a problem. I enjoy exercising, always did, but now I have this problem & it sucks. I feel terrible at times, but I won’t let it control me

  • Great video, you really summed up some great points without beating us over the head about being lazy overeaters lol! I really appreciate you taking the guess work out of metabolism. I liked how you mentioned that we do have the control to be the best we can be at the present time by staying consistent and realistic!

  • Does anyone have a normal weight but you can basically anything and your weight doesn’t change but if you eat healthy your weight still stays the same.

  • In highschool I was 270lbs. Now I’m around 200lbs and the older I get and the more I follow FB workouts, the leaner and fitter I get. And I regularly eat over 3000 calories a day

  • It would be a shame for you not to lose fat when other typical people are capable to lose weight quickly by using Custokebon Secrets (do a search on google).

  • I know this is an old video, but when I first did your workouts I never saw this video.

I used to do your workouts 5 times a week with a good (ish), although not long-term sustainable diet plan. I lost a load of weight, a good couple of stone over 6 months, and my job really helped with that as I was part time, there was a gym I could use at work (for things like weights etc.), I walked to work and there was a good balance of standing up vs being at the computer.
When I left that job, mentally I was in a very bad state. My self-esteem was extremely low and while I was trying to fix this, getting professional help was an extremely long wait. In the meantime, I did get a new job but it was entirely desk work. It was very mentally draining and taxing. Hours were all over the place from day to day. Food choices available were minimal and I didn’t have the energy to make healthy food at home. Also at home, there wasn’t enough space for me to dedicate to workouts compared to my previous flat with its giant living room. Fortunately it didn’t last very long, in that I was able to move jobs after about six months. Food options were better and there was a gym, but by that time I was conditioned back into my comfort eating habits I got when I was a teenager.
Fast forward to now, and I’ve got the professional help I needed. After being on and off exercising (surgery didn’t really help with that), one of the saving graces of lockdown is being able to turn my garage into a workout space. And naturally, I went straight back to your videos. Granted I’m only just starting back out but already I am seeing improvements. And these improvements are so much more noticeable than when I was in the gym several times a week.
I’m 30 in December and my metabolism is probably lower than it was when I was 15, but I have grown so much in my life in all accounts and that’s how I see myself with fitness. Even though I haven’t been constantly improving, I’m always learning. I’m so pleased to come back after so long. <3

  • Kudos for the Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about Millawdon Right Nourishment Trick (probably on Google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for boost metabolism with high carbs food minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my GF at very last got amazing success with it.
