See below for some inspiration, and be happy knowing that even fitness pros like to splurge once in awhile. “Savory quinoa bowl with arugula, lentils (or black beans, depending on what’s in my pantry), sweet potato, avocado and tahini sauce. Dinner bowls are my version of comfort food — they are simple, warm, hearty and nutritious. “I eat dinner around 8 p.m. after a long day of coaching and running Unite Fitness. A lot of times, I prepare certain parts of the meal that take longer than 15 minutes ahead of time, like, sometimes in the morning or the night before when I am watching TV, I’ll bake the fish or the spaghetti squash.

20 percent protein 25 percent fat 55 percent carbs Total daily cals: 1,400 (to drop 1 to 1.5 pounds per week) Breakfast. 1/2 whole wheat English muffin. I’ll eat eggs with ham or chicken sausage, greens and some baked potatoes.

Also a smoothie with almond or coconut milk, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, kale, spinach, broccoli sprouts, cinnamon, a scoop of rolled oats and two scoops of whey protein and nootropics. Eat too much, and you’ll feel lethargic and ready for a productivity-killing nap. The point is: A wholesome lunch can really make or break the rest of your day.

For some lunchtime guidance beyond what dietitians eat, here’s what six fitness professionals — from spin instructors to strength coaches — eat for their midday meals. One day (or one meal) of the week, you can nosh on the foods you’ve axed from your healthy meal plan—without feeling guilty or packing on pounds. While either may sound like a godsend to dieters far and wide, cheating on your diet—especially for a whole day, not just one meal—probably has as many proponents as opponents. Eggs, a universal bodybuilding staple, offer easy-to-digest protein to kick-start muscle growth. Cream of Wheat provides energy-rich complex carbohydrates, and bananas contain both fructose and potassium, which support glycogen formation in the liver and muscles to minimize muscle breakdown in the body.

  • That potato pouch is kind of a rip off… for a fast “baked” potato just wrap it in some damp paper towels and it does the same thing in the same time. 8 to 10 minutes for a large russet and you’re good to go.

  • Jhonnie Jackson! You can simply take the potato.. Poke IT all over with a fork… And put IT in the microwave for like 4 minutes..IT will be perfect every time

  • You don’t need a pouch like this at all. Just take the potato, cut some holes in it, put it in a soup dish, fill the soup dish with some water (about half the height of the potato), then put it in the microwave, and let it cook for 8-10 minutes. Done. Just be careful not to burn yourself because some hot water will not evaporate.

  • Bro, im not a professional football player but i used to be very2 healthy like this and muay thai. I lose a lot of weight in short time. Like from 100kg to 66kg. Trust me this won’t work. Everything got limit even being healthy.   • One must have patience when cooking and spraying the pan first with “Pam” cooking spray is essential! Aluminum foil is your friend when baking ������. Old bay seasoning goes on every thing

  • Just a quick note that this is not my daily meal plan. I eat different meals every single day and my calories, protein, carbs, and fats all fluctuate slightly. There’ll be days where I have close to 400g of carbs and less fat and days like I’m the video where my carbs are slightly lowered and fats inflated. Every day is different!

  • Hey man, that looks like a ceramic skillet. Fat like Pam degrades the pan and reduces its life. Just put your food in without any fat to prevent sticking because the pan itself is designed to prevent sticking already. Just wipe with a paper towel afterwards and wash with soapy water lightly after use.

  • Hi Matt, I´ve been watching some of your videos and I like the football content, good job!
    I know this is an old video. But please, let me give you some cooking tips. I’m a cook, and this is just a constructive coment, there is no “hate” or something in it, just trying to help.

    1. For breakfast, you can cook first your bell peppers to make it softer, then add your egg whites, leave the tomato and basil last. With a good nonstick pan, you need less oil that you are using (making it healthier).

    2. Cooking meat: The pan must be really hot, so it creates Maillard reaction when it touches the pan and sear the meat properly holding the juices, it’s going to be absolutely tastier. Again, with a good nonstick pan you don’t need that oil amount, and try to not use a metal fork on your nonstick pan ’cause you don’t wanna scratch it.

    3. Green asparagus: You can boil it in salted water for about 1 min and then eat it with a drizzle of olive oil, or boil it 30 seconds then directly to the pan for another 30 seconds sauteed. Once again, you need less oil.

    4. Try to cook salmon less, find your “sweet spot” with your oven to have it a little more juicy.

    5. Let the food chill before putting the lid on and moving it to the fridge, if you do it hot, that can ruin your food.

    Last but not least, spend some money in kitchen tools. A lot of people don’t have this considered, but a good pan, sharp knife/a sharpener and a better cuttingboard is going to make your life really easier, and you’re gonna save a lot of time cooking.

  • 20-30 grams of protein seems way too little. The minimum would for normal (I mean whats normal…) people is something like 70-80 grams and body builders go up to 2.5 times their body weight in grams. I feel like my recovery and strenght are really benefiting for a higher intake of protein (around 150 grams a day) What is the science behind so little protein? I also miss fat in their diet. As being in racing myself for years and in a later stage in my life also adding weight lifting to my weekly work outs I have came to the realization how little of an importance food is for cyclists. Other sports seems to have a lot more knowledge on this subject

  • It is almost like the word ‘sugar’ is banned now lol. Sugar IS the most important nutrient for any runner/cyclist. If you don’t take in enough refined sugars before, during and after the race you will simply bonk/improper muscle glycogen for the next stage. When you are pushing watts you are churning thru you glucose stores. When your eyes are burning a hole up the road they are being fueled by glucose. Remember that time Froome was hunger flatting and Porte dropped back to the car to get some refined sugar?

  • Always take your steak out of the grill a couple of minutes earlier and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before you cut it. This way the juices stay inside, and you get a more tender steak.

  • Very interesting. Back when I started racing in 1980, on the bike race food for me consisted mainly of bananas and a plastic baggy of sliced apple pieces dipped in lemon juice (prevented oxidation/browning). I raced till 2008, so yes, I made it to the energy bar and carbo gel era.

  • Guys, build muscle doesn’t need to be difficult (I used to feel it did). I’ll give you some advice right now. Look for a diet plan called Custokebon Secrets. Seriously, that diet plan has changed my life. I probably shouldn’t even be mentioning it because I do not want a bunch of other folks out there running the same “game” but whatever, I’m in a good mood today so I’ll share the wealth haha.
