  • I’ve read in some books and articles, that pretty much any exercise that forces the spine to crunch while sitting the lower back flat, will cause lower back problems. So why there are so many videos of upper abs exercises with flat lower back on the ground? I mean, why do something that will lead to injury?

  • what all these fitness instructors don’t get is that these exs are complete rubbish for your back and most are triggering your hips not your abs (even though you can feel it) plus adding loads of tension on the back especially the lower. Think about it your whole weight on the front is pushing down meaning if your back is not strong enough you will destroy it slowly. Instead of showing straight away the ex show first the Stretches and back strengthening. For a strong core you also need to look at the back. The amount of sports personal we have at the physio clinic because of these internet exs is of the chart. Planks and hanging leg raises (not always) the proper way, are the way to go, plus running or cross trainer.
