A lot of of stuff out there unfortunately is still spreading out the myth of an universal ideal workout time for everyone and this is confusing a lot of people.. Key Points: There’s no such this as the ideal universal workout duration, it’s a myth. And it’s been around for a while.. 30,45,60 minutes are commonly mentioned lengths that one shouldn’t surpass because it supposedly negatively impacts your performance through cortisol levels. This has been de-bunked by research.. Each training plan has 3 non-negotiable principles: safety, consistency and progression.. Workout duration is mainly determined by how much time a person has and by their training age.. Beginners might not need to spent a lot of time in the gym as the volume they need to grow is lower than more advanced athletes.. Other factors are usually related to how much time an individual has, so it’s usually making the best out of the time have.. The way the workouts are structured is to include the most important lifts at the start when you’re physically and mentally at your highest.. As you move through the workout your performance will naturally decline so the assistance and isolation movements are placed toward the end.. These movements can be done with lowered rest periods if necessary, or by utilizing things like supersets or tri-sets to allow the individual to fit in some extra volume in a time limited workout if that volume is necessary for progress.. As long as the individual is progressing, has the time and the quality of training is maintained a workout can last anywhere between 20 minutes to 2:30 hours.. Advanced individuals might warm-up more than a beginners whole workout.. The bottom line is that there’s no universal ideal length, whatever you can fit in your lifestyle is probably the best for you.. And if your workout plan follows the 3 core principles of safety, consistency and progression you’re gonna get amazing results.. Bonus lesson “Hard and Stop” or “Slow and Steady”: What is the single most important thing if you want to get stronger, leaner, healthier and reach your full potential? The answer is quite simple: Consistency.. There is nothing more important than getting yourself to the gym. And it always fascinated me to see guys trying to make up for the fact that they’re inconsistent by going harder when they’re there once in 3 weeks.. Unfortunately long term success doesn’t work that way.. Instead of killing yourself in those 2 workouts you did last month why not train yourself to not skip gym and slowly lift more weight every time.. I’ve dropped from 124kg to 102kg since February last year following your nutritional advice and lifting heavy weights. I’m 6’1 and quite strongly built (squat 140kg, deadlift 180kg and bench 100kg, typically for 5). Looking at picture comparisons I am about 20% body fat but unsure.
Awesome video Mario! It isn’t always necessary to use a clamp or any expensive tools to find a body fat percentage since it’s possible to get a rough estimate just by comparing to some pics!

This is by far one of my fav videos I am 5 Ft 10 I’ve been 190 pounds one day and so overweight over 30% bf. I dieted down till 142 pounds but looked so skinny Now i bulked up from that point I am at 164 pounds around 18.5% BF I guess this is my ideal weight or maybe 2 additional pounds, but I am aiming to sit at 12% BF
Thanks Mario! I always thought I was doing something wrong because I could not complete my workout in 45-60 minutes. I believe my workouts are intense & I make sure to rest between sets (rest duration depends on what type of movement) On the high end of time it can be 2 hours (mostly due to how crowded the gym is/access to weights & machines) and the low end 1 hour. I’m 51 so my safety/injury prevention are of utmost importance to me. I strongly agree with your 3 core principals. Great topic-Keep up the great work.
Hey @Mario, that was very helpful as I am just a bit over 5’10” as well! It really makes me confident that I am close to my weight loss goal. I am currently 78.3 Kg (Around 173 lbs)… but I think I am around 17-18% body fat and my belly is kind of loose.. especially lower belly (I have ZERO packs!:D). And overall, my musculature is very less and my body is a bit soft. And this is the first time I am attempting to do a body transformation. Do you recommend cutting until I reach 10% without caring about the weight? I am following a healthy high protein meal plan… and doing mainly bodyweight exercises because of the pandemic.
I love doing intermittent fasting and 72 hours fasting, the problem that I am facing is constipation. One or two days… I worked out regularly…but I don’t like this effect, please advice. I drink water with hymalayan salt and I fill in a good mood. But constipation is becoming serious.
Fasting is speeding up. Animal are nature dominant (gene dominated) where as human has more room to be bit more than nature. Also, birds who fly or bear hibernate and fast do that after / in preparation (natural seasonal demand). Again nature assisted. In general body and inside are inversely related. Higher external activity reduces internal activity & vice versa. Fasting is to focus on internal and external activity is ideal to be conditioned (as per system). But yes, Objective leads….Body type and history of training gained plus Objective keeping condition of person is what is criteria considered. Fasting is using space dimension (body / matter) to manage Time dimension (Mind / Energy).

As I look at your 15% pic (don’t know accurate that stat actually is), that looks like me at sub 10%. At around 13% I’m ripped everywhere…shoulders, arms legs etc. But the abs are blurry and barely visible. I think because my abs are underdeveloped I need to get sub 10% to see them defined. Do you think that’s the issue…just a case of underdeveloped ab muscles? It’s such a grueling quest to get my abs to show and it would be nice to maintain 13% with abs. It’s funny because I’m more vascular looking than you in the arms and shoulders, but I want your six pack.
Lol. I pick 16 in order to live a freaking life and if that is bigger i dont care. I need to eat and the hell with strict. I want to LIVE. I really like the 16 percent. My point is that there has to be a functional reason in it or what you are doing is useles I mean can you chop wood? Or are you just functional enough to drink water then pointlessly lift? Im not playing. Can you chop wood and maintain a house? If you cant then your muscles mean nothing. Health is damn good but If you dont know where the water shut off is and you dont know how to hunt or skin of husbandry for that matter percentages mean nothing. How are those things useful to life. They arent. You do you then. Be as muscled as you can. Tell me how to raise tomatoes E1
better to work through these things with a trainer and a nutritionist if one can afford them. Or least for a few months so that you develop personalized strategies that work for you and your body. That’s my advice.

I was weighed on an inbody scale yesterday. im 5,10 181 and the machine said I was 8.3% body fat… 97 lbs of muscle. I do not look anything near what you look like at even 10 percent. I asked to do it again same results. 8.3 percent. I was shooting for 9%…

Love your content, as always! The only problem, in my case, is that I’m not that experienced to the degree i can really know my bf%. Currently I’m 3.5 months into (lean… At least i try) bulking. My abs are starting to say goodbye, but i do want to commit to the process, as you regularly say… I estimate that I’m around 17% bf. Did you make any material about weights? I’ve heard 70% of your PR is the best to use (i.e. if you can bench press 100kgx1 then you should use about 70kg) What is your opinion on the weights on the gym ESPECIALLY since you are travelling a lot and some machines just feel different.

I’ve dropped from 124kg to 102kg since February last year following your nutritional advice and lifting heavy weights. I’m 6’1 and quite strongly built (squat 140kg, deadlift 180kg and bench 100kg, typically for 5). Looking at picture comparisons I am about 20% body fat but unsure.
Awesome video Mario! It isn’t always necessary to use a clamp or any expensive tools to find a body fat percentage since it’s possible to get a rough estimate just by comparing to some pics!

How you look so jacked at 15% bodyfat? I think you’re overestimating your body fat in your pictures, that or you have naturally store less body fat in your abdomen.

I am 5 Ft 10 I’ve been 190 pounds one day and so overweight over 30% bf.
I dieted down till 142 pounds but looked so skinny
Now i bulked up from that point I am at 164 pounds around 18.5% BF
I guess this is my ideal weight or maybe 2 additional pounds, but I am aiming to sit at 12% BF
Thanks Mario! I always thought I was doing something wrong because I could not complete my workout in 45-60 minutes. I believe my workouts are intense & I make sure to rest between sets (rest duration depends on what type of movement) On the high end of time it can be 2 hours (mostly due to how crowded the gym is/access to weights & machines) and the low end 1 hour. I’m 51 so my safety/injury prevention are of utmost importance to me. I strongly agree with your 3 core principals. Great topic-Keep up the great work.

Hey @Mario, that was very helpful as I am just a bit over 5’10” as well! It really makes me confident that I am close to my weight loss goal. I am currently 78.3 Kg (Around 173 lbs)… but I think I am around 17-18% body fat and my belly is kind of loose.. especially lower belly (I have ZERO packs!:D). And overall, my musculature is very less and my body is a bit soft. And this is the first time I am attempting to do a body transformation. Do you recommend cutting until I reach 10% without caring about the weight? I am following a healthy high protein meal plan… and doing mainly bodyweight exercises because of the pandemic.
I love doing intermittent fasting and 72 hours fasting, the problem that I am facing is constipation. One or two days… I worked out regularly…but I don’t like this effect, please advice. I drink water with hymalayan salt and I fill in a good mood. But constipation is becoming serious.
Fasting is speeding up. Animal are nature dominant (gene dominated) where as human has more room to be bit more than nature. Also, birds who fly or bear hibernate and fast do that after / in preparation (natural seasonal demand). Again nature assisted. In general body and inside are inversely related. Higher external activity reduces internal activity & vice versa. Fasting is to focus on internal and external activity is ideal to be conditioned (as per system). But yes, Objective leads….Body type and history of training gained plus Objective keeping condition of person is what is criteria considered. Fasting is using space dimension (body / matter) to manage Time dimension (Mind / Energy).

As I look at your 15% pic (don’t know accurate that stat actually is), that looks like me at sub 10%. At around 13% I’m ripped everywhere…shoulders, arms legs etc. But the abs are blurry and barely visible. I think because my abs are underdeveloped I need to get sub 10% to see them defined. Do you think that’s the issue…just a case of underdeveloped ab muscles? It’s such a grueling quest to get my abs to show and it would be nice to maintain 13% with abs. It’s funny because I’m more vascular looking than you in the arms and shoulders, but I want your six pack.

I was weighed on an inbody scale yesterday. im 5,10 181 and the machine said I was 8.3% body fat… 97 lbs of muscle. I do not look anything near what you look like at even 10 percent. I asked to do it again same results. 8.3 percent. I was shooting for 9%…

I mean i believe that people are trying to say that 45 mins is the average time a normal completely average person can workout while doing sets to failure every time, personally I take it ligthly and dont time my workouts, I usually go 60 to 75 mins
