  • The official start of the Holiday season is Halloween and the official end of the Holiday season is the Martin Luther King Holiday. In a few weeks I’ll be loading up on Halloween candy to pass out for Teunk of Treat at my church. Us adults enjoy it more than the children when we pass out candy, peanuts.

  • Does anybody else hear an annoying ticking sound throughout this video? I love the music, but it’s so hard to listen to with that ticking sound throughout it. I wish Guaraldi’s people would piece the soundtrack together the best they can and release it. What a shame that so much great music is missing.

  • Here it is March and I still can’t stop thinking of Halloween and this classic. The one day of the year we can be whatever we want. It’s just too cool for words

  • HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2019!!!! WOOHOO!!! just so you know, Halloween starts in late August and ends at sunrise on Nov 1 (per the calendar).

  • (No offense) but even though Beyoncé called her self turning Jay Z into caged bird and getting my mans to reconsider some things, settle down with some kids, I know as a fellow Sagittarius he’s still a true player at heart and will always be BIG PIMPIN! #ForeverMackin

  • The Ending sponsor tag pushing Coca-Cola & Dolly Madison as well as the Opening should of been left in the cartoon on TV as well as DVD special feature material.

  • I remembered my music teacher from 4th and 5th grade playing this song on the piano after the talent show was over and everyone was going back to classes, and thought how super cool it was. My mom loved watching Charlie Brown as a kid so she introduced me to them watching the specials on tv and I loved them as a kid (: Super nostalgic!

  • Thanks for this!!!! I’m 74 now, and the pleasure never fades. A Charlie Brown Christmas, and It’s the Great Pumkin, Charlie Brown still have all of their magic for me!!! Thank you again. Love to you from San Diego, CA.

  • Growing up..
Dad watched this with us on channel 2…
    Early 80s..
    Dad has passed now..
Thank u dad for these memories…
    Thank u too Mr Shultz

  • Iam here 1 months to go time to get ready for Halloween party and candy and cold night and the leaves on the ground from the tree aaaaaahhhh fall time is,they have Halloween candy out already and costume…cant wait…9-16-19..tue…..

  • Missing the part of the “Graveyard Theme’ after the owl approaches, it was cut out because of sponsor plugs but can be found here on YouTube. Perhaps you could edit it onto this existing version: Same with the ending theme:

  • This movie literally captivates the complete essence of fall and Halloween. I watch this every year so many times. The Great Pumpkin waltz is the only fall song that actually sounds like fall. This is why Charlie Brown is great. It captures essence of a season in music and visuals.

  • Growing up in Kenya this is all that we knew about Americaand you would think these represents Americans lol. Then you get to USA and nowhere to see these skinny beautiful people, fancy cars having fun. It’s fat people lined up at Burger King and McDonalds to get their Big Macs and bottomless sodas Real shocker USA. We were sold a dream out there for a long time

  • I feel sorry for kids growing up today, the sickness of the internet and the poor excuse for most parents has denied the current generation an opportunity to actually be a kid and enjoy the world around them.

  • Tonight at 8 p.m. on Channel 6 It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. I cannot wait until this comes on. I always look forward to watching these cartoons every holiday. What can I say it’s worth it.its the peanuts. Charlie Brown & the gang is like one of the coolest cartoons ever I think so. Also I’m going to continue to watch them until the the day I die. I even have the Peanuts movie on Blu-ray disc.

  • YouTube deleted ‘It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown’ & right before Halloween. This is how much Google & YouTube care abt children, not all all. They only want money even tho they make sure they force us to watch plenty of their ads tho. Greedy, selfish, heartless, child hating, scumbags.

  • Ty for making this cartoon happen on YouTube this is my favorite Charlie Brown Mimi movie I LOVE IT I’m only 8 I watch this for about 2-8 now I love t

  • Oh Meatball, with you on our side, we will win any battle! Thank you for your service! And kudos to your Pop for the amazing story telling!

  • This has been the soundtrack of every October of my life since I was 12, and it wouldn’t be Halloween without watching it every year. I know the dialogue just about by heart by now, but the music, well, I probably love the music best of all. Happy Halloween, everyone!

  • Those beautiful leaves, that fall sunset…indeed magical! That bright orange pumpkin patch and the simplicity of halloween colors…..Vince Guaraldi….AUTUMN JOY!

  • I love Autumn! The Peanuts gang and Vince Guaraldi’s music take me back to when I was a kid growing up in the 60’s. I still remember watching It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas when they debuted on CBS.

  • Vince Guaraldi was absolutely one of the best Jazz.& Bossa Nova Pianist .He brought Charles Shultz Peanuts Characters to life with his jazzy tunes. He left us way too soon! Im older & still enjoy watching Peanuts to this day!

  • The charlie brown specials are timeless. They hold a special place in my heart, and will forever. I can imagine myself watching these until my final breath at every holiday.

  • I believe the copyright was added in the later edited version of the special, I recall thinking the font used in the copyright didn’t really match the look of the font used for the rest of the credits. It was obviously optically inserted over the previous film when prints were made.

  • THIS IS IT! The version of “Linus and Lucy” we have been waiting for for 54 years! We have created a composite of the flute-driven version of “Linus and Lucy” featured in GREAT PUMPKIN and BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN without any sound effects. This is exactly as it is performed at the start of GREAT PUMPKIN. It can be found here

    PLAY IT LOUD!:-)

  • Hands down the best Halloween special ever made. When kids were just kids and didn’t need special effects or super heroes to be entertained.

  • God bless Charles Schultz and Vince Gauraldi! They brought such innocent joy to millions of children and adults with their simplistic and jazzy talents! Trick or Treat was a great time in the 60’s!

  • No matter what is going on in my life these cartoons or this music always makes me happy and lifts my spirits. I cannot help but to smile and start shimmying back and forth to the music.

  • When I was a kid the outtro after the main titles would be the announcement that “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” was brought to you by Dolly Madison, then a Dolly Madison commercial featuring the Peanuts.

  • I feel sad for those who “thumbed down” this video…
“The Great Pumpkin”, and accompanying music, is the metaphorical soundtrack of my childhood! I am sure many can relate!

  • RIP Matt Gatch BIG PIMPIN I will forever think of you when I hear this song. Hell I will be listening to all the song I know you liked all day. Until we meet again ✌

  • Something about the ‘Great Pumpkin Waltz’ fills me with melancholy, a word you don’t hear much anymore. I get that same feeling I had as a child when it was Autumn, magical October, and every year this special was part of the tradition. Thank you for posting this.

  • I love Vince Guaraldi’s music, so it really irritates me that the record company doesn’t remaster this to remove all the hiss and other noises. They just re-print what they have without wanting to invest in remastering this jewel. I was hoping that the iTunes version was better, but it is the same as this, too much hiss noise.

  • It’s amazing how after seeing this when it first aired I can “see” the actual “video” in my mind just from hearing the audio. I still watch it every Halloween (and no other time).

  • Ray Bradbury said it best when he described October Past as a time when “the twilight has that orange hue & outdoors is smokey smelling.

  • It’s amazing how after seeing this when it first aired I can “see” the actual “video” in my mind just from hearing the audio. I still watch it every Halloween (and no other time).

  • To me this is always the way I feel about Halloween deep in my heart, even after I went through the Exotic-Erotic Halloween Ball phase and was all kinky in shiny black rubber and the sexy witch or Cleopatra look for your outfit for work….(it’s very difficult to work wearing 6 inch spike heels when you are writing up cars for oil changes…)

  • It’s just about spring time and I am already for fall again. I grew up off charlie brown movies and such good memories of the fall time and Halloween time. Super ready for fall again and pumpkins and spookiness.

  • We don’t really celebrate Halloween but I still love this show and its soundtrack. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” did have the best overall soundtrack. Thanks Geminian INTJ for posting this.

  • Pimp C is like I don’t know those NYC clowns. Y’all (Pimp C’s voice) go to Trinidad, I’ll find some broads and shoot my scene in Miami. Rest in Heaven

  • What do you think about separation instead of segregation? Possibly colors tribes or cultures alike will live in the same communities? I would like to start a big petition. With signatures from all races or colors feedback is greatly accepted.

  • 3 weeks left for HALLOWEEN!!! Remember..Try on those costumes at least once and do it now!!. Bad suprises are just plain old bad….but they can be fixed this week!

  • It’s like I’m paranoid lookin’ over my back
It’s like a whirlwind inside of my head
    It’s like I can’t stop what I’m hearing within
It’s like the face inside is right

  • How was this made? Did you just rip the audio and all the music was located on one channel and dialogue on another? I would like to get a version without all the pops that come with uploading to YouTube, a pristine version with separate tracks would be awesome.

  • This makes so much sense now why the VHS tapes of these Peanuts specials would have a very noticeable jump in their end credits. I’m curious now if you ever get your hands on an original print of ‘He’s Your Dog Charlie Brown’ one of my all time favorite Peanuts specials, who the sponsors were. The original VHS tape I used to watch from the early 80s always had this jump during the music that shifted into a big piano flourish and left me wondering what the complete ending sounded like!

  • There is absolutely no way to describe the way this music makes me feel. All I can do throughout it is have a gigantic smile as big as Charlie Brown’s when he gets invited to the Halloween party.

  • the background music to when Snoopy is “walking the French countryside” is haunting and beautiful. The train whistle is mesmerizing to me

  • Heartwarming. Now for disturbing theory time! Linus waited so long he died! And the great pumpkin symbolizes death. And the most sincere pumpkin patch is heaven! YAY! SCARRED CHILDHOOD!

  • Still waiting for Fantasy Records to finally release all the music cues from IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN. There are at least three different versions of “Linus and Lucy” here with a flute accompaniment that are all superior to the overheard version from A CHARLIE BROWN XMAS.

  • Fun Fact: Pimp C wasn’t a fan of this track it took Bun B to convince him to hop on the track. Pimp C only request he will only spit 8 bars thats why Bun B bars were longer

  • After the original sponsors “dropped out” (by the early ’70s), a reissue tag {with copyright} was used…and that’s the one seen to this day.

  • There is no acknowledgement to the use of two (2) complete bars used from the original song, that are the “sample” to this recording. I’m utterly appalled that such a renowned music executive has utilised completely unoriginal elements (clearly NOT designed by him, uninspired and therefore: ‘unoriginal’), by RE-RECORDING the original bars from Abdel Halim Hafez’ song “khosara”. Shame on you Shawn Corey Carter, shame. If you needed inspiration? Fine. There’s no shame in that, but acknowledge the music you have rerecorded. So many think you are a genius authentic, actual original creator then you go and copy bars from a legendary music Egyptian singer/songwriter, to make this song (offering no acknowledgment). Shame.

  • July 2016… A little over 3 months to get ready for Halloween. Think fast time goes. Ok, so plan that costume, slim up a bit and hopefully it’ll cool off enough by October. Halloween, One of the few holidays that is as much fun preparing for as it is actually experiencing! Horror Movies and music round the clock now

  • I’m 50 years old now and when I listen to this I get both happy and sad the sad feeling is I miss being a kid again sometimes life was so much simpler and the happy thoughts are I got to live that life I had a very decent childhood very active as a Young Man thank you for posting this video

  • Tracks 19-24 and 26 are missing.
Also, when you re-edit, could you add a slide show, so that each track is easily found by when the picture changes?
Other than that, thanks for posting this!

  • Wow this was both unsettling and touching at the same time. Was expecting some sort of punchline at the end, but honestly it didn’t need it.

  • This song reminds me when Billy and I didn’t have a care in the World… Linus and Lucy forever! Right Billy? New Seabury has a top golf course in the United States!

  • You know, ever since I was little, I wanted to learn how to play the Charlie Brown theme song on the piano. I normally just pretend I am playing the song every time I hear it

  • as hard as I fight it, there is no stopping my mind from going back to my glorious youth when I listen to this, fresh piles of leafs, carving pumpkins, the big decision of what or who to be for trick or treating, the old time decorations…ahhhhhh!

  • We mourn our innocence. When magic was real, when we wondered, when we loved without a care, when we knew right and wrong, when there were good guys and bad separately. Unflinching hard reality is not the only truth… there is still magic, imagination and love for those who hold onto it dearly…

  • if none of you realized, he died waiting for the great pumpkin and the great pumpkin was his “god” welcoming him into pumpkin patch heaven or whatever.

  • I love this so much, makes me just so happy it’s unreal. I think I’ll always love Charlie Brown. Sitting down at my desk with the heater on and my fall scented candles listening to some Charlie Brown ❤️❤️

  • I just happened to come in on the latest annual airing [thankfully mostly unchopped except for a strange forced “fade” between Lucy bobbing for Snoopy & him coming into the pumpkin patch, & the weird breaks due to modern commercial ad arrangements] of The Great Pumpkin” at what is styled here as “Waltz 2” when Sally is cutting out her costume eyeholes & gets scared by the results. The by now “usual” out-of-pitch state of the music [faster than normal, which it’s been DECADES since I heard it aired as it should be; just tune in to “Andy Griffith” on tvland to get an idea, his distinctive sonorous voice now sounds like he’s been sucking on a helium pipe] sent me to desperately looking for a soundtrack of the original score As Heard On TV & not the aggravating variation on “Linus & Lucy” that has made the TV commercial-ad rounds for tiresome years; just as I cal tell the pitch difference with all the music I’ve known before the coming of CDs, I know and HATE beyond description the Why Is That? speeded-up versions on disc that have the majority of my collection sitting pristine and unplayed. As soon as I heard “Linus & Lucy” here I about wanted to weep with happiness, because at truly LONG LAST have I heard the actual music at its NORMAL speed, & this gentleman with his priceless contribution has even provided the titles of the pieces along with, hilariously, the “action” sound effects during the music; I don’t know how he eliminated the dialogue but for the just sake of that beautiful “Waltz” I will always be grateful, since I have loved it since earliest memory 50 years ago. If only, in all its variations, it could be “strung together” in one continuous piece, I would know true musical paradise! The others, though, are also “precious” to me, which is why I detect, oddly and with some disappointment, that such as #15-18 are not running at normal speed [especially #17, though not as bad as broadcast[; I know even the sirens or whatever in “Breathless” are out of pitch. And, while listed, #25/26 do NOT appear here; I was wondering about the running time of 14:20, it appeared “short” to me, and that is indeed the case; the whole thing cuts out right after the “Alarm.” Still, the majority of the music is featured, and most of it is in normal pitch. After going so long without seeing this timeless gem because of that, and also when it used to get hacked up like Dahmer’s victims, this is a “Most Astonishing Wonderful!” find, and I will certainly share it with other contemporary “Peanuts” lovers. This will certainly be a revelation not only to them, but to people who grew up with the “fast track” versions “Thanksgiving” & “Christmas” are just as afflicted and think that’s the “normal” sound! Happy Holidays to all!!!

  • Typical Lucy @:32, with her expression all like, “N.G.! NO GOOD!” (at the medium sized pumpkin-as far as she’s concerned, that won’t do at all either, any more than the small one!)
