Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, is a powerful meditation technique that prompts the body to relax deeply while the mind remains inwardly alert. Yoga nidra works by guiding you through the four main stages of consciousness or the four main stages of brain activity — beta, alpha, theta and delta. Yoga Nidra is a secret weapon many yogis swear by and one hour of the meditation can be as effective as three hours of regular sleep. It’s not about conscious effort, but.

Yoga Nidra is quickly becoming a very popular meditative practice. And for good reason! Yoga Nidra offers unique insight into our multi-layer, multi-dimensional Self.

The practice also provides deep relaxation and opportunity for reworking belief patterns that are limiting. The explosion of studies supporting the benefits of meditation also apply to yoga nidra, because yoga nidra is a form of meditation. Both meditation and yoga nidra help activate the relaxation response and improve the functioning of your nervous system. Yoga Nidra.

In yoga nidra, the practitioner leads his students through a detailed and specific scrip which essentially says that feel your left toe and then release your left toe.In the yoga nidra. This relaxation response is the secret sauce to yoga nidra because it balances the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems – the left and right brain –allowing you to unwind into various, beneficial brain wave states. Yoga nidra, a Sanskrit term meaning “yogic sleep” is a deep relaxation technique and a form of meditation. Also called “psychic sleep,” yoga nidra is a state between sleeping and waking. Yoga Nidra—known as yogic sleep—is a meditation and conscious relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental, and emotional relaxation.

I’ve heard that an hour of yoga nidra can be as restorative as four hours of regular sleep (although I could not find the research to back this up). Yoga nidra is the ultimate relaxation technique for releasing stress and tension held in your body. Experience a deep level of relaxation, with this easy to.

The beauty of Yoga Nidra is that it not only creates the biological state of chemical balance where we are less likely to drop into habitual mental and emotional patterns, but it also helps us disengage from, and redirect those thoughts before they gain a momentum of their own.

The adept in this yoga, also like the adept in Hatha Yoga, may induce in himself a state of suspended animation, very often mistakenly regarded by the yogin who experiences it as being concomitant with that exalted spiritual illumination which is realized only in the highest samādhic trance.

  • Thank you for making this meditation available to everybody. It’s really helpful especially at this challenging time for everybody.

  • Nooooo, does anybody know what’s up with those ads? I recently upgraded my phone and I went from never ever having an ad during meditation for the last 6 years to now having 8 in this one. What happened?

  • Yoga nidra is very good tool indeed. This is one of my tool when I feel bit anxious and not able to taken away my awareness from what ever I am thinking I use this meditation and before it end I will be snoring. It must be used not to fall sleep. But for me it is great tool to calm down my inner radio

  • Fear is appropriate during these uncertain times but too much too long is self-defeating and can be debilitating. Thank you for providing this excellent tool to adjust our inner stress-o-meters. Well done:):):) This is just the thing that I needed to get a truly restful night’s sleep after weeks of tossing and turning. Thank you so much!!! I especially appreciate your steadfast dedication and efforts in carrying this lineage forth for the benefit of increasing our collective wisdom and capacities at this pivotal time in the history of our species. Never have so many been so ripe to evolve. May you be fully blessed. May you be well. May you be safe and know the peace and joy that passeth all understanding.

  • I have always wondered how I can look to improve my sleep, especially since I have chronic pain. In recent years I have heard a lot about Yog Nidra and yet haven’t come across someone who really experiences chronic pain and can explain it. What tops it off is the way you guide through it.

  • When one is told set a sankalpa, they should be given some time to set one… not keep talking. It’s really annoying when the narrators keep going on. There should be at least a 10-15 seconds.
