Try This Easy Meal Plan to Lose Up to 2 Pounds a Week Breakfast. Egg, Hummus, and Spinach Sandwich: Spread 2 Tbsp hummus on 1 slice whole-wheat toast. Top with 1/4 cup baby Lunch. Spinach-Mushroom Quesadilla: Sauté 1/2 cup each chopped sweet onion + sliced mushrooms in 1 tsp olive oil over.

There are 3,500 calories in a pound; that’s 7,000 calories total (2 pounds) that you need to cut out or burn each week. That means that in order to lose 2 pounds every 7 days, you need to have a deficit of 1,000 daily. The strategy is to get your daily deficit of 1,000 with a combo of diet and exercise. Start by exercising three to six days each week. Do both strength training exercises and cardiovascular activity for your workouts.

Aim for 30 minutes to one hour each workout session. Exercise at a higher intensity if only doing 30 minutes. How to Get Rid of 2 Pounds Per Week in 10 Steps 1. Consume meals with fruits, vegetables and protein.

A combination of these food groups keeps you away from calories, 2. Eat a moderate quantity of whole grains. Whole grains rank only second to. To lose 2 lbs. of body fat a week, you need to eat 7,000 calories less than you would need to maintain your current weight.

In other words, if you weigh 200 lbs., you need at least 2,000 calories to maintain that weight. To lose 2 lbs. of body fat a week you need to eat 500 fewer calories a day, which would mean eating 1,500 calories. The best way to do it is by eating less, eating healthier and adding aerobic exercise to your daily routine. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.

Losing a pound or two a week might not sound like much, but it’s the best way to take weight off and keep it off for good. According to the Mayo Clinic, 1 pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. To lose 2 pounds of weight a week, you would have to create a calorie deficit of 7,000 calories per week, which translates to 1,000 calories per day. Therefore, you have to create a calorie deficit of 1,000 calories per day for a week, in order to lose 2 pounds a week. The more body fat you carry, the more likely you’ll be to safely lose more than two pounds per week.

Therefore, we could individualize our weekly guideline a bit by recommending a goal of 1-2 lbs of fat per week or up to 1% of your total weight. If you weighed 300 that would be 3 lbs per week. To lose 2 pounds a week walking, you’re going to have to also reduce the calories in your diet — possibly by a lot.

You could burn 500 calories walking and cut 500 calories from your diet, but you’re still going to be doing a lot of walking — one hour and 20 minutes to one hour and 40 minutes. Attempting to lose 2 pounds in just one day is an extreme and potentially dangerous way to lose weight. In most instances, healthy weight loss translates as losing around 2 pounds a week, so to achieve this in a day is a big task and should not be taken up lightly.

  • On a related topic:
    1) Drinking water instead of soda or juice when eating can make it easier to taste the foods someone is eating and not need as many other flavor enhancers such as salt (P.S. lime/lemon juices are flavor enhancers also).
    2) Drinking a glass of water right before eating can help offset the amount of food a person wants to eat with the added benefit of getting more water into the system.

  • Thank you for the video. Last year I lost a total of 20 lbs. However I have come to a halt! I need to loose more wait. My goal is to get down to 120. I am currently 160lbs at 5″3.

    My diet now is a breakfast smoothie (Keifer, flax, kombuci, berries, almond milk, macha, sesame seeds and acia powder) 1 fried egg. I’ll have 2 snacks (some healthy nuts only) and an apple or an orange to eat. Then lunch is lean protein like turkey or small portion of beef. Lastly dinner (small protein, green vegetable, small salad or small sweet potatoe) And I haven’t last any or gained either so I’m lost now.

    Can you tell me if I should go the Intermitten Diet route???????

  • What I’m trying to lose is belly fat >< I have been told that Im average ((Between Fat and Skinny)) But I have also been told that I have a big tummy...   • Great info. I do not drink (have not for years), soda and I do not purchase sugary drinks/juices. If I want something sweet, I will add a couple pieces of fruit, like; strawberries, watermelon, etc… to my water.

  • Best tip, 1lb is equivalent to 3,500 calaries. I’ve never tried to diet. I am now obese and aim to lose 58lbs. BMI currently 35.5 My goal is to lose 1lb a week. Does this sound safe or doable? Until my 30’s my BMI was 25. Now I’m 45yrs old and less active.

I am doing intermittent fasting with the eating window of 2p-7p and i work out at about 9p-10p every day for 5x a week. Mostly cardio and strength training. I know it’s important to eat protein after your workouts but I’m still in my fasted state and can’t consume anything until the next day at 2p. What should i do? Also I’ve put myself in a calorie deficit as well and weight is dropping but i wanna be healthy and stay healthy. Is this ok? thank you any help is appreciated and we love your videos! XO

  • But what if you don’t drink soda or juice at all? I don’t like either. I have always been all about water. But I’m having a hard time losing my last 15 pounds still. I eat a healthy diet over all (90% whole and plant based foods, and 10% of the time I allow a splurge meal or day) I also exercise often. I’m getting frustrated that I’m not seeing those 15 pounds come off.

  • i burned 1500 calories walking fasted on a very high incline treadmill for an hour. Is that directly burning fat? i was sweating like a mad man shorts and shirt soaked.   • Today is my day one of juicing. I plan to do this for a month while doing light exercises such as squats, leg lifts, etc, in the mornings (M-F) for about 30 minutes. I figured by doing light exercises such as this, that I would tone my body as my body transitions. I will admit that I’ve been concerned about restoring my muscles, but I wanted to make it as “clean” as possible due to my juicing venture.

    Before your video, I was thinking about making protein shakes…what’s your take on this?

    Would taking protein shakes while juicing be okay, or should I “eat the meat”?

I’m still struggling with remembering to drink water more than I am and the salt intake but I have cut bread and milk down and dairy products down and once I did that I lost a lot of weight! I do low-carb breakfast with nuts a small amount of fruit and cheese instead of cereals and yogurts with added sugars and it made such a difference!   • I learned about Mrs Dash because my dad’s doctor told him to stop using salt and my step mom through out all the seasoning in the house and replaced it with Mrs Dash �� it’s pretty good, he still uses a small amount of bullion or salt but it’s still a start. He eats a lot of lemon pepper too, switched to using lemon instead of the salt mix. Also surprisingly if you Use is right ACV can be a salt substitute too �� thanks for the tips!

  • Although all these tips are good. Don’t decrease you daily calories by 1000 that is very unhealthy. Only decrease it by 300-500 calories.

    I simply cut carbs and eat fat and protein. I also am in a caloric deficient of maybe 1000 the most I go is 1200.

    Can you please make a video about 50 and over weight loss and slow metabolism…im 53 and the last few years havent been very active because if depression, for a couple of months now I’ve been really trying to lose weight 246lbs…its so hard. I gave up once but trying again..I’m pre diabetic and its important that i lose weight. I dont use sugar only splenda. A few months now i stopped eating bread, rice, potatoes..just baked yams sometimes. i 5 days now i stopped eating all meat except fish, i make tofu stir fry often. I have a green smoothie every morning for breakfast, and i eliminated the half banana like you said. Im working up to one gallon of water a day now. Today at the gym i did 45 minutes on the stationary bike. i go about 3 days a week…i don’t know why its so hard to lose weight…or am i just being impatient?   • Thanks for the tip. I’ve cut down on sodas a bunch. I still have the biggest problem drinking water. I can go all day without drinking anything and I know that’s bad especially if it’s a day that I’m going to the gym after work:(.
