This recipe is one of my favorite recipes from my mom. She start making this after her trip from Germany. As German’s staple food is Potato and they make so many different dishes using potato.. Check out my channel:https://www.youtube.com/c/SueRanSL. #potatosoup #sueran #souprecipes. This is a creamy and a heavy soup made using only potatoes and this is really nice on a cold day and will fill you up..also very easy to make… Ingredients used for the above recipe: 700g Potato. 2 1/4 Cups of Regular Milk. 1 1/2 Cups of Luke warm water. 5 1/2 tbsp of butter. 4-5 cloves of garlic chopped. Pepper for taste. 1 tsp of salt (to taste). Dried Parsley (Optional). Onion Leaves or Fresh parsley to decorate. You can also use water without using too much milk to make the soup less thicker.. This recipe will serve for about 6 people… You need a bigger pan & a blender for this…. Wash all the Potatoes thoroughly. Cut them in to small pieces. In a saucepan put 2 tbsp of butter and add chopped garlic. When garlic turn golden brown add the cut potatoes. Sauté the potatoes for a while. To that add 2 tbsps of butter. Then add 1 cup of water & close the lid and bring it to boil till potatoes soften. Lift the lid, check & stir few times, if needed add some more water. I am adding another ½ cup in the video. When done switch off the cooker & transfer the potatoes to a blender to make a paste. Add little at a time & blend till you get a smooth paste, add milk to lighten the paste. When all are blended transfer to the same pan and cook in medium heat. Add remaining milk to get the right thickness. If you like less thickness you can add milk to bring it to the thickness you need. Add pepper & salt for taste. I am adding dried parsley in the video, you can even use fresh parsley for this. Serve hot & enjoy…. Try it out & let me know in the comments below… Thank you for watching & don’t forget to like & subscribe:). Follow me on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/SueRanSL/. The delicious comfort food of potato leek soup is enhanced with roasted garlic and creamy starchy potatoes. This soup is perfect for a cool fall evening.. Silicone bacon rack thingies affiliate link: https://amzn.to/2MITX2F. Ingredients . 1 bulb garlic. 1 large leek. 2 lbs white starchy potatoes the ones used for mashed potatoes. 6 cups flavorful chicken broth. sea salt. pepper. 6 strips bacon. parsley. Instructions ✏️. 1. Pre-heat oven to 400 F (200°C).. 2. Peel off the paper-like outer layer of the garlic bulb, leaving intact the skins of the individual cloves and being careful to keep the bulb as a whole.. Cut the top part of the garlic in order to expose the upper part of every clove (see video).. 3. Drizzle a few drops of oil onto each clove.. 4. Place garlic bulb in cocotte and cover (or lack thereof wrap in aluminum foil).. Put garlic in the preheated oven for about 40-50 minutes or until cloves are soft and golden and caramelized. They should pop right out of their skins (see video).. 5. Crisp bacon on a baking sheet for 20-25 minutes at the same time.. 6. Wash and slice leek.. 7. Preheat a big pot over medium heat.. 8. Once hot, add a splash of avocado oil and add sliced leek. Reduce heat to medium-low.. 9. Caramelize leek on medium-low heat by stirring often. This takes about 15 minutes.. 10. While leek is caramelizing and in-between stirring peel and dice potatoes into about 1″ (2.5cm) cubes.. 11. Once leek is caramelized, add broth and peeled diced potatoes. Turn up the heat and bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low again, cover and let simmer until potatoes are cooked through.. 12. Once garlic is out of the oven and soft and tender and cold enough to handle, remove cloves from peel and add to bubbling soup.. Transfer into a blender in 2-3 batches, or use an immersion blender to blend and season with more sea salt and pepper if necessary.. 13. Serve hot with crumbled up crispy bacon and freshly chopped parsley.. Printable recipe . https://greenhealthycooking.com/roasted-garlic-potato-leek-soup/
An easy and delicious creamy potato soup recipe that can be made in just one pot!. ↓↓↓↓↓CLICK FOR MORE↓↓↓↓↓↓. Loaded with bacon and creamy potato goodness, this is a favorite comfort food in my household.. Full Printable Recipe: https://sugarspunrun.com/creamy-potato-soup-recipe/. Immersion Blender (Affiliate Link): https://amzn.to/2LTmxig. Le Creuset Dutch Oven (Affiliate Link): https://amzn.to/2XeiG0S. Blender (Affiliate Link): https://amzn.to/2WLR02P. Ingredients. 2 ½ lbs gold potatoes peeled and diced into pieces no larger than 1” (this was about 6 Large potatoes for me/1.15kg). 6 strips (uncooked) bacon cut into small pieces. 3 Tablespoons butter. ⅓ cup all-purpose flour 42g. 1 medium yellow onion chopped (about 1.5 cup/200g). 3 large garlic cloves minced. 4 cups chicken broth 945ml. 2 cups milk 475ml. 2/3 cup heavy cream 155ml. 1 ½ teaspoon* salt. 1 teaspoon ground pepper. 1/4 1/2 teaspoon ancho chili powder**. 2/3 cup sour cream 160g. Shredded cheddar cheese, chives, and additional sour cream and bacon for topping optional. Instructions. Place bacon pieces in a large Dutch Oven or soup pot over medium heat and cook until bacon is crisp and browned.. Remove bacon pieces and set aside, leaving the fat in the pot.. Add butter and chopped onion and cook over medium heat until onions are tender (3-5 minutes).. Add garlic and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).. Sprinkle the flour over the ingredients in the pot and stir until smooth (use whisk if needed).. Add diced potatoes to the pot along with chicken broth, milk, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and ancho chili powder. Stir well.. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork (about 10 minutes).. Reduce heat to simmer and remove approximately half*** of the soup to a blender (be careful, it will be hot!) and puree until smooth (this is about 5 cups of soup, but just eyeballing the amount will be fine. Alternatively you can use an immersion blender.).. Return the pureed soup to the pot and add sour cream and reserved bacon pieces, stir well.. Allow soup to simmer for 15 minutes before serving.. Top with additional sour cream, bacon, cheddar cheese, or chives. Enjoy! Notes. *I recommend starting with a more reserved amount of salt and then adding more as needed, the amount of salt needed will vary depending on the type/brand of broth you use. **If you haven’t used ancho chili powder before, I recommend starting with 1/4 teaspoon and then taste-testing before increasing to 1/2 teaspoon if you like the taste.. ***If you want a completely creamy soup you can puree all of it, just puree in batches, about half of the soup at a time. I prefer my potato soup with actual chunks of potatoes and prefer to puree just half of it.. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Sugarspunrun/. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sugarspun_sam/. For the full Creamy Potato Soup recipe with ingredient amounts and instructions, please visit our recipe page on Inspired Taste: https://www.inspiredtaste.net/37881/potato-soup-recipe/. You will love this easy homemade potato soup recipe with potatoes, veggies, garlic, and a creamy broth. The soup is comforting and ultra-flavorful. For the best potato soup, use Yukon Gold potatoes. They have thin skins, so it is not necessary to peel them. They also become buttery and soft when cooked. There are two ways to serve this soup: brothy or thick and blended (our favorite). We love both and making them is the same except for the last step. For a thick, luxurious, and blended soup use a potato masher or immersion blender to puree or mash about half of the potatoes in the soup to thicken it.. **FAQ**. is there any way we can make this sup without the milk? i just dont like the idea o milk with salt… but still want the soup colour and texture to be the same.
Loved itnot a celery type of guy so I replaced it with fresh chopped spinach and instead of dicing the carrots I shredded it. Other than that everything thing else was the same, came out great thanks…..next time I’ll add some beef neck bone, use the beef stock from that to make it. I was hungry for something with potatoes tonight and I had all the ingredients for your soup, I made it it was absolutely delicious so easy to make. I took a picture but I don’t know how to transfer a photo into the comment section, lol
I’d try all of those, but I would make the pot pie soup without the peas and corn… The worst two vegetables on this planet. Corn isn’t even a vegetable, it’s a grain… FUCK CORN
I made this soup tonight for dinner. The flavor is good however, the texture is awful. It came out slightly gritty… I’m not sure why this happened as I made sure the roux was smooth. Maybe the milk broke down do to the boiling In step seven… I blended using a regular blender which was deemed OK in the recipe. The only substitution I used was for the chili powder and I just used regular chili powder. I watched this video several times before making the recipe, which I originally found on her blog. The flavor is good, but the texture is bad. P.S. after reviewing both comment threads I only noticed positive comments….. I wonder how long this will be up.
My mom watched a couple videos and thought yours was the one she wanted. She made it and said she watched the video once and it was so simple to make so she tried it, and she thought it was great! So I had to try it and she was not lying! It WAS great!!! Thanks for posting!
As with most professionals, you make it look easier than it is. Please encourage your listeners to not give up if it doesn’t turn out exactly as they like. Even learning to walk, we fall down.
Your video popped up randomly and since it was cold outside, and I happened to have all these ingredients, I gave your recipe a try. OMG! What a great find. Unfortunately for me, now my family wants me to make it all the time! Lol
OMG people this is the first time ever making potato soup! and I couldn’t believe it. It is the … Thanks again for the cooking videos, I didn’t go wrong. I believe I am a shelfboy ID now
I have made this repeatedly and every single time it is the most delicious thing I have eaten. It has become a family favourite and I just made a huge batch for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Thank you Laura for this excellent recipe!! And if I may…you are incredibly beautiful. I’ve been watching your cooking videos for years. Thanks for all your great recipes.
Been doing this, except for what I can grow in my garden and from my sheep. Pretty much everything except the garlic and bacon. Maybe later this summer we’ll have garlic.
Made this tonight. Used paprika. Didn’t blend (kept chunky). Added carrots and celery at the 15 mins out mark. Really good! Should have made cornbread to go with it.
This was a great meal. However it did something that reminded me of a meal I cooked in our ninja foodi a few weeks ago. As it cools it gets a grainy texture. I’m not sure why. The previous meal I used store bought shredded cheese. Tonight I used block cheese and shredded it myself.
I Love this Soup! I make it all the time. I did a little twist to it though…I did not put anything in the blender or pureed. I also put in the potatoes, carrots, and onions., and in the end, I sometimes put in green onions and broccoli, I also use light cream, instead heavy cream….it’s like a dinner in its self! Great recipe!!
I just made this and it came off very well. I use a bit more sour cream than the recipe calls for because it gives the soup a smooth and creamy finish upon which the cheese and green onions can standout making it look like a restaurant offering.
I made this today for my daughter, mom, and grandma and they loved it! Pureeing half and the other tips made it deliciously creamy, thank you! Can’t wait to try it again with ancho, which I couldn’t find at Kroger.
The French onion soup was the only “soup” of the lot. The rest were mashed potatoes, fondue with broccoli in it, sweet potato dip and chicken pot pie without the crust
It’s simmering now and my house smells divine! I can’t stop sticking a spoon in there to try it. My mouth is watering! Thank you for graciously taking the time to create this video. This is my first time to make this soup and your video with instructions was so easy to follow. Tremendously grateful! ❤️
Thanks for this recipé. I work wonders when it comes to my potato soup. People don’t like the word “soup” because it sounds like a cheap meal, so I always call it Vichyssoise (vi· shee· swaaz). Vichyssoise is nothing but potato soup with puréed onions. I always use peeled yukon gold potatoes or russets and then add chopped bacon, parmesan cheese, chopped celery, green onion and dried rosemary. Everybody loves it.
I just found your channel!! Love it! I want to try all your appetizers! Lol I am looking for some delicious, easy, casseroles. I am a nurse and work 12 hour shifts so I need something I can whip together quick or maybe cook ahead and freeze! Thanks!!
I am from indonesia, live at state, when i eat at restaurant i love the food but i don ‘t know how to make it,so when i found your channel i loveee all your recipe,i try to make it and i love it,thank you so much Laura
I just made your potato soup recipe. Served with a big spoon of sour cream on top and mild cheddar cheese. Delicious. I am now a subscriber. Best Wishes. Grandpa Jones.
Folks! To thicken you don’t need to put it in a blender or use the fancy gadget she’s using just take out your potato smasher and mash about 8 to10 times and there ya go! Nothing better than getting that 5 year dose of vitamin g at one sitting and hell! While your at it just go ahead and fire up that cig afterwards. Happy clogged ateries everyone…. bacon, butter hmmmmm:)
, here is a good recipe the easiest boil the vegetables you want 5 cups of water when they are done add one package of instant loaded baked potato and a little shot of milk if you want it creamy
Thank you for sharing your recipe. Made it and it turned out great. Can’t wait to make it with garden fresh potatoes. Subscribed and will share your great easy to follow Video. From Northwestern Alberta, Canada
My 15 year old son made this today. With homemade bread too. Double treat!! Thank you for a great video /recipe. It tasted and smelled so gooood. He is so proud of himself and his mom and i too. You never what could take off with something you do. Posting a video Much thanks.
I don’t know who’s holding that camera, but they have some PATIENCE for sure. You would have seen my hand creep in towards the end, reaching for a taste lol. Dang that looks so good!
ok ok i dont want to offend anyone but honestly i really dont think that cheese or cream and that stuff should even go in soup i mean isnt soup made with meats vegetables noodles etc? and this is my opinion but soup is supose to be healthy right?
That’s a mighty fine recipe there with the bacon but I do something to supercharge mine and I’m not telling what my secret is. That way I reign supreme!
Oh. My. Worrrrrrrd. The BEST soup I’ve ever made. The consistency was PERFECT. I did only do half an onion and sautéed that along with half of one seeded minced jalapeño. Great job!
Hii chefy.if used a peeled potatoes so it’s effect the taste,?…and I m from India so there isn’t Italian herbs can u tell what I use for making its more flavourful please
I swear soup is the one thing that can be so healthy and light whilst also being delicious and hearty, u just had to stuff it with cream and cheese lol
It came out great. I didn’t have that chili power so I put regular with a dash of smoke paprika it was amazing. Everyone in my house now has a new favorite potato soup. Thanks
05:22 I watch all these video, only for this sound “Oh Yes”, since the tone he says resembles that one say Oh Yes, when he sees his girl friend without any dress for the first time

This might taste ok and easier to make but it isn’t the proper or best way to make potato soup. Take the time to do it right, you’re worth it.

Looks really good!! but I think I have a different opinion on what a soup is
the first one to me was just a bowl of loaded mashed potatoes
Made this for the first time and added some garlic and my family loved it and were very impressed… they were asking for seconds ♀️
I just made this in my Instant pot, High pressure for 10 minutes natural release for 2 minutes and it turned out awesome.. Thanks for sharing

I just made mine in a slow cooker and it came out really delicious. I put bok Choy chickpeas rosemary and cheddar cheese. Thanks for the video.

Highly recommend this recipe I made it and turn out beautifully.
Soup is super creamy and potato smell fantastic with butter and milk. It’s a very winter soup and home flavour. Warms you up and comfort your heart.
*with the same amnt of potatoes, I only use 4Tbsp of butter and 1 Cup of water and 1 1/2cup of milk
With 5-6 cloves of garlic and many black pepper and 2 tsp of chicken powder for seasoning
Instead of using parsley and onion leaves, I use dried mixed herbs (ready to use packaging ) and fresh coriander

Gonna call it ‘Hateful Soup’…
