While most people let work, family, social engagements and other priorities get in the way of exercise, really fit people make exercise a priority no matter what. Being fit and healthy doesn’t mean you have to resign yourself to working out for hours a day and eating nothing but chicken and steamed broccoli for every meal. In fact, there are several more effective (and less painful!) habits you can adopt today that will not only help you get in shape in the short term but will help you stay that way for.

don’t forget that being fit is not a destination it is a way of life. and being healthy is NOT just about how you look, it is so much deeper than that. I challenge you to find “your healthy”:). Staying healthy and fit is even harder. Until you get into a good rhythm and form healthy habits, it can be challenging to figure out how to stay at your physical best without obsessing over it. Here are five easy habits you can start forming today to help you stay healthy and fit for the long-term.

1. Buy fewer processed foods at the grocery store. Any type of regular, physical activity can improve your fitness and your health. The most important thing is that you keep moving! Exercise should be a regular part of your day, like brushing your teeth, eating, and sleeping. It can be in gym class, joining a sports team, or working out on your own.

Keep the following tips in min. Even if you just get out for a walk a few times a week, exercise is important in your daily routine to stay fit and healthy according to the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.Cardiovascular exercise helps to strengthen the heart and lungs, strength training helps to strengthen the muscles and stretching helps to reduce the risk of injury by increasing. Relieve post-fitness aches by submerging your lower body in a cold bath (50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit; you may have to throw some ice cubes in to get it cold enough) for 10 to 15 minutes. 10 Tips to Improve Your Health at Work.

Avoid those snacks, take a walk during lunch, and clean that keyboard, and you’re on your way to a healthier workday.

  • Started tearing up at the end there with you �� my struggle started when I was thirteen years old. I was always small and thin because of genetics. But this one day changed everything for me when my step father innocently said to me “you’re getting a little belly on you”. He didnt mean to hurt me, but from that moment on I became super obsessed with what I ate. I restricted myself and deprived myself. I suffered with bulimia for years and years and eventually anorexia. Now I’m struggling because I’ve gained a lot of weight this year. I went from not eating enough, to emotionally and mindlessly eating things that are extremely unhealthy for me every single day. I’ve forgotten who made me and that it doesnt matter if I’m thin, or larger, if I’m purple or have an extra arm. The way I look doesnt matter because He made me EXACTLY the way He intended.   • I’m 6 feet and 158lbs, exercise and eat a lot of fruits/veggies, fiber, low fat dairy and lean meat. And very little sugar. Believe It or not I still have marginally bad cholesterol and blood pressure. However, last year I was at camp and had hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, ice cream and sodas all week. By the spokesman end of the week I wasn’t feeling right, and a couple of nights I suddenly woke up and couldn’t breath for a number seconds with my heart racing, scary as hell. I guess I should always stick to my diet. My girlfriend who’s overweight and doesn’t eat or exercise that well has none of my issues go figure!

  • This is some great advice! I am currently at the end of a year-long Metabalance program (nutrition with a dietician/exercise with exercise therapists/appts with nutrition, exercise therapy and cardiology PA) through our local hospital and each piece of advice is spot on to what they taught us. Their bottom line is to get rid of the “diet” (all or none) mentality and eat intuitively. Become in tune with your body…it will tell you when you are hungry. Their advice is to eat 80% healthy (they use the MyPlate guidelines and I do as well to a point…I lean more clean eating/plant-based diet which has been a personal choice and is working well for me) and 20% pleasure foods (our culture, as a whole, enjoys eating socially and we need to allow ourselves to do that), drink at least 64oz of water a day and exercise (cardio and strengthening) at least 150 minutes per week. I have lost about 40 pounds so far and my labs have come back to “normal”. My labs were my biggest concern…the weight loss is just a nice added bonus. It is definitely a journey worth travelling!!
