  • Hi friends! I’m excited to finally share this video (I’ve been working on this recipe for quite a while!). These falafel are delicious and have SO much flavor. But I’d love to hear…which method is your favorite to cook them? It’s always a toss up for me.:) Hope you’re enjoying your summer! xo Lisa

  • I tried making these for the first time, following the recipe all the way through and they turned out amazing! Cooked them in the oven for a healthier alternative and I can’t stop eating them lol! I do need to mention the chickpeas are still firm after soaking overnight however trust the process, once you blend well the texture is fine.

  • Hi can we Boil the Lentils in Cooker?or we need Raw Overnight soaked Lentils only for ☝️recipe?and do we need Oats flour?or Semolina flour for Holding Lentil Puree together?…Ty for sharing this I am going to check out other Lentil Baking recipes too ✋

  • Hi! Just to let you know I tried your recipe and I don’t think I need to try any other. I’m a falafel addict so know a good one when I taste it….thankyou soooo much for this!

  • so happy to see you so happy with dylan it seriously warms my heart after hearing about your past relationships that weren’t so great ♥️♥️

  • Great recipe! I love Lebanese food and gastronomy, it’s the best in the world. I’m from Norway, I got the chance to visit Lebanon eight years ago, it was wonderful…. beautiful country and people, and their food is second to none.

  • Hello! I really like your channel!!! I have a question for you regarding pepper… I did as you did!! And it falls apart for me in the frying!!! The falafel will not stay intact!!!

  • hey, since i’m not going to the store yet, (im waiting for my mom to take me), for a while can i blend the baking powder, and water and let it sit until i get the legumes????

  • You inspire me.. I love all your recipes, specially because I have a strict diet and everything hurts my gut… (post gastric cancer and no stomach.

  • Hi Petra, thanks for this wonderful recipe. I do not eat onions and garlic. Hence would it be fine if I pureed the lentils for the pizza crust without garlic. And also, do you have a recipe for tomato sauce without onions and garlic please? Many thanks!!! ☺️

  • Oh my gosh that looks great! I really need to get a food processor. So many things I want to make, like this and also your salsa. I just watched that video & it made me miss my homemade tomatillo salsa that was always in my refrigerator. I think I’ll make your style tho, I love those canned tomatoes I use that same brand. Thanks for another great idea! Love watching. Now I’m going to shop for that cute cardigan 😉

  • Do we still need to soak the legumes if they are canned? Also, how do make the crust come out hard, but not burnt? Mine came out chewy, but hard on the outside lol

  • Love this recipe! Didn’t have the serrano pepper but it still tasted delicious! Thank you for sharing. This will be a keeper! ♡

  • OMG! I’m so excited for an easy gluten free falafel recipe. I love falafel but I think my body is starting to struggle with gluten. Can’t wait to try this recipe, thank you!

  • It’s coinsidanly I watch second Time your video, we make is recipe from year’s, and year’s, my grandma say this is favorite for her great great grandma also.
We also make with moong Bean and eye bean also. Enjoy. I like your cooking tool also. If you want to buy or sale them contact.

  • I followed this recipe to make falafel for the first ever. It came out brilliant. I live in UAE and trust me it tasted similar or even better than the ones you get from an Arabic restaurant. I did make some tiny alterations of my own, like I drizzled a bit coconut oil into cast iron pan and gave the falafel a bit texture before baking them. I also had to add a bit more gram flour to bring the mix together. Thank you so much for this amazing recipe!
P.S: There is no point in making the falafel without the tahini sauce to dip it in!

  • Excellent! crunchy outside and moist inside, great flavor (I like the spicy serrano pepper idea) all the flavors blend very well for a delicious and healthy meal/snack, etc. First time doing falafel, the recipe easy to follow. My only suggestion to include ingredients list while cooking. Do you have the recipe for babaganush? Thank you again!

  • I made it not only once, but five time for my family in two weeks, they absolutely loved it and it turns out perfect every time! Thank you for your friendly detail recipe and video!

  • Thank you so much for your videos!

  • hi dear, thank you so much for the nice recipe. I love falafel and I do the same recipe, but I always add one egg to the paste so I can make good balls

  • I tried this recipe during lockdown and im trying to eat more heathy. But I decided to deep fry these!. I have not really been that keen on falafel. Maybe the ones ive tried were shop bought and too dry..After making my own using your recipe im blown away..These are just delicious! Amazing recipe. I put a bit too much parsley in mine and I didn’t have chick pea flour, so I replaced with all purpose..I don’t have a processor, so used a blender!, but they turned out perfect!.Thanks for this!

  • Hi all. Do any of you end up with dry, tough falafel balls? It tastes great freshly fried but it doesn’t last much longer than that when I make them. Any tips??

  • Love the new format, love the old format. Would love to have both of you in more voice overs! Also I have sweet potatoes that need to be used so thank you for this idea it was perfect timing lol

  • Hi, I make my falafel almost the same way! Some times they don t cook at all inside so I prefer the flat ones
Thank you for your inspiration in each lovely recipe!
    Regards from Ururguay,

  • The fact that you function so well while cooking shows that you are indeed a PERFECT match! I realized that couples always fight when it comes to cooking together:-D. Btw. I love the new format, it is two in one: recipe&fun!:-)

  • I just made the chickpea pizza crust and It was really good!
Thank you Petra for providing such a versatile and truly nutritious healthy new ideas!! Truly appreciate you.

  • Why in the name of integrity are you calling this “low carb?” The lentils, alone, are nearly 90 carbs! “Vegan,” all right; but, “low carb?” Get real.

  • I did it the baked one. And Frozen half of it. Tasted even better out of the fridge direct It to the oven. So delicious!
    Thanks so much
    Kisses from Brazil
Could you make a easy recipe of bread with buckwheat?

  • Wonderful recipe. Crispy outside and soft inside I pan fried them but lost the count of table spoons of oil and then put them on the oven for 15 minutes.turned out great; flavorful, beautiful and very delicious. Thank you

  • I have Arabic origins and my family make a similar dish, it’s kibbeh. It’s amazing! I think it’s similar to falafel, but with a different filling; cows meet, pecan nuts, peppermint, pinion, onion, and wheat!! The procedure it’s the same, you should try them

  • Me gustan tus recetas, podrias poner los nombres de los ingredientes en Inglés, es que hay algunos que no se cuáles son… muchas gracias

  • This looks soooo good. And easy on the stomach if you have stomach issues. You are always, my kitchen hero. Thanks for helping myself and my daughter eat the way that works best for our bodies and still have tasty treats.

  • Sooo i made this and it DID NOT come out the way i wanted it to… i guess cause i wasn’t working with measurements. She wasn’t clear on how much water and lentil

  • So you’re replacing one form of starch (grain) with another (legume). But it is low carb & that’s a good so it’s OK as an occasional treat

  • Saw this recipe last night and immediately took out my yellow lentils and soaked the double amount:D I loved it, and my husband couldn’t tell it wasn’t a flour crust. Thanks a bunch for this amazing idea. Keep up the amazing work you do!

  • I vote for: Caitlin & Dylan on Sundays because you two have such great energy together <3 And a mixture of the what I eat in a day, talky vlog and overhead video's rotating on Thursdays in between. And what ever changes you decide to do, I'll support you 100%. Namaste ^_^

  • Hi Caitlin, you’re a lovely couple. Please could you post a video on how you met. Sorrybeing nosey…but would love to know as you both look so loved up:-)

  • What else I can use instead of the iron pan?
A regular “cake pan”, like ad hinged one, or a glass rectangular one, both lined with parchment paper, could work??
    Sorry for asking!
    Love all your recipes!! Thanks!!!

  • Your vegan pizza looks beautiful! I’m not a vegan but I’m looking forward to making this pizza. I hope that it comes out as great as yours! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

  • I don’t know what happened but I stopped getting notifications for your videos. I remembered it’s been a while since I saw your videos and came back to check. I have missed your videos and your brilliant recipes so much! It truly felt I was seeing a good friend after a long time

  • Hiya. Have made this recipe several times. But I keep forgetting what oven setting. Could you please include the celcius for us outside the US please? Keep having to have two devices near me Thanks!

  • Can you come to my home and cook for me? Did you ever see the show, “The Brady Bunch”? You could be my Alice. I’d give you a corvette to drive and your room of choice…..think it over. Such a good job.

  • I’ve been aware that this lady is the best vegan chef for a long time and I love it when I find new videos I haven’t seen. Thank you, blessings, and one day you will be looked at somewhat of a hero, tbh I gotcha marked down as one already!

  • This recipe is amazing! I’m gonna préparé it today. Thank you very much for this great bread. Just asmall correction. Ras el hangout is not just a Moroccan mix of spices. It’s also Tunisian & Algerian.

  • Hi Petra! I loved this type of pizza cause i don’t have to knead any dough and the crust is healthy. Today I went out and get some chickpeas cause I’ll be trying this recipe. My son is so addicted to pizza and we are vegan so in order for him to still enjoy pizza I’m going to try this pizza. Thanks for sharing.

  • Hello, thanks for the recipe. It seems tasty! But is it really low carbs? I can’t find any nutritional values… Not here and not on your website. Is it keto friendly?

  • Omg!!! You’re a genius, but as I have a high uric acid lentils are high protein and that is a taboo can you give me an alternative plz

  • Hello, your recipe and method look great (I’ve tried other gram flour batters in a cast iron pan without success). What size baking sheet did you use please?

  • Sorry for the stupid question but is the weight for the 150gr soaked legumes meaning the dry weight or the soaked weight?
Do we need 150gr dry lentils and then soak them or do we need 150gr soaked lentils?

  • I am living for this! I love this format this is so good and its awesome to see you so relaxed and happy making videos!!! Yes yes yes

  • Lily is SO cute. Also nice boy lol:-) v casual style compared to usual but I’m glad you’re happy & comfortable with Dylan so I don’t mind. The pizzas look awesome!

  • Such a cute video, I was smiling the whole time.:) Lily nearly broke my speakers lol

Also, you can’t please everyone with the format of your videos, so just do what works best for you. I personally love this format though!

  • This looks amazing. So good, I shared the video to my mom, who loves watching your videos (and she’s not vegan). She’s actually switching to a more plant based diet due to health issues and I’m so proud of her! Thank you for making so many healthy tasty recipes to share with us! I myself am trying to eat less oil and more healthy too (I am vegan). Thanks for the inspiration!!

  • Dylan and Caitlin = SO CUTE! Can I call you both Caitlan or Dyllin-wouldn’t say the difference is significant but the spelling is adorable on text <3 Both video formats are great, wouldn't mind a mix of both!

  • You and your boyfriend are a bit too much! I miss your old good videos where you just went straight to the point and there was no messing around

  • Chill out people, Last video was overhead shot. This is her channel and Don’t stress her out.(Especially she mentioned that there are gonna be some changes in this channel) If you miss the old version, just wait for it. BTW I love this video, Caitlin. You look much more happier and enjoying making food with you lovely boyfriend!

  • omg all the people saying they miss other formats, this is her channel people, she’s already said she’s going to do a mixture of both, and she always puts the full recipe on her blog so idk why people are saying it’s harder to follow along with this type of video. let her do her thing and have fun.

  • In the 80s… Falafel was an entirely different beast in the states. It was sold as the whole package with tahini, veggies and pita.

  • genius…ive made colli pizza YUM this i gota try…you 2 are adorable but the star of the show goes to the cute dog omg i missed the name but cute alert by far….

  • This looks awesome, but it’s too much protein for me, what can I do to lower the protein amount but still keep that awesome flavor profile?

  • I think you and Dylan should do a mukbang where you make your favorite meal you like to eat together and talk about how you first met. It’d be so cute. <3

  • Great recipe. Pizza is something I haven’t made since I turned vegan. I definitely will be trying this, it will make a change from standard pizza base even though I don’t have a problem with gluten.

  • Falafel is my favourite dish here in my home town Jordan
All the spices you use is good, but you forget to put coriander seed ground, this will make the falafel more delicious
    Thanks for this lovely recipe

  • Hello I’m new to your channel.

And a special thanks to Dylan for creating the opportunity for us to see how to save a crust. That’s just as valuable as seeing it done right…’cuz I’m not perfect. I also liked how you were willing to take risks with your pizza.

The recipe looks great, and I can’t wait to try it. Looking forward to many more fun videos. By the way, I was watching this while on the train and jumped a bit when Dylan got Lily to speak.

By the way do you take a B-12 supplement? I’m curious

  • I miss the overhead shots, where we can watch you cook it. It’s more easier to follow the way you use to do it. This way is harder to follow the recipes, idk this new format ain’t for me:(

  • Wow thank you so much. I did try lentils bread. And now I’m craving pizza but can’t stop thinking the all the carbs and the fat that comes with it. Now this is definitely worth a try. Do u have a white sauce alfredo recipe

  • This is soooo so cool! I love this! And can I just say how thankful I am for your videos rn? I already loved your videos before but now I’m in the middle of being diagnosed with Chron’s disease we’re not sure yet so meanwhile I’m on a veeerrry strict diet (gluten free, lactose free, no plain dry seeds, no sugar, I can’t have some vegetable, etc) but I have a huuuge sweet tooth and I adooorreee nice food meaning your recipes have been my absolute salvation

  • I made this recipe yesterday. My family is from Israel and it’s hard to find a place that makes a good falafel. This recipe really nailed it, worth your time, give it a shot!

  • Is there a substitute for chickpea flour? Doesn’t have to be gluten free in my case. We just don’t have chickpea flour here. I can barely find canned chickpeas sometimes

  • The voice off over the video was really funny great solution! The pizzas look delicious and really filling. It’s nice seeing you both cooking wish you all the best!

  • Sweatheart you made my day, I turned myself to glutenfri diet but was struggling with it. For how long We can store or preserve it?

  • such an amazing idea! can’t wait to make it! I was wondering if It’s ok to cook the chickpeas for at least an hour before I make the dough.. thanks a lot for this recipe!

  • So I used wax paper and that was a mistake. I did end up saving the most and I enjoyed it. But parchment paper is not available to me right now. Can I use foil

  • I’m going to do this recipe next week but I don’t have chickpea flour. Can I substitute that with other types of flour? (I’m okay with gluten).

  • We made this today and paired it with a microgreen, avocado, carrots, radish, tarragon and chicken salad and it’s beyond perfection! Thank you! ♥️♥️♥️

  • Hi Lisa! I’ve made this twice already and it was delicious, thank you!!! I have a question though, can you use curly parsley for this? I’ve made it previously with flat leaf parsley but the last grocery delivery I received Curley parsley instead. Do you think it will make a difference? Thank you so much for your advice!

  • To whoever is reading: You are loved by God! Also, I love Downshiftology! I tried some of the recipes the other day for nut bars and banana almond butter bites! Truly delicious:)

  • Thanks so much for this recipe, Lisa. I’ve made it a bunch of times. Whenever I feel like a bit of toast, this is it! Today I made it (by mistake ) without the baking soda, chickpea flour, oil or water. It needed some more baking time but it turned out equally great! Makes me wonder if I can make it without the greens, garlic and onion, but with other herbs for a change in flavour… Have you tried variations? Would love to know. Thanks again.

  • I watched this all the way through and thought, yup I’d like to have a go at those. No recipe below, so followed link, no AMOUNTS? I am quite an organised person, so I like to have all the ingredients ready for when I play the instruction video can’t keep stopping and starting with sticky fingers! So, sorry, I’ll adapt the recipe I have made before. Thanks for giving me some ideas at least.

  • As an Israeli I must say that I’m amazed by this recipe. How come nobody here had already thought about it before? Suddenly it looks so obvious!:)
Do you think it can be used also to roll the toppings inside like a tortia? Or the texture is too crumbly?

  • Made it yesterday and it quickly became a family favourite. Thank you. It is simple and the flavors are just awesome. I use it as a sandwich bread with baked zucchini and beetroot patties in between. Keep up the great work

  • Call it chickpea bread or something else instead and then say which cultures inspired you to come up with this recipe instead of appropriating. This is not falafel nor is it flatbread. And you don’t say falafel ball. ‍♀️

  • Great Recipe.
Easy to make and really delicious. Our oldest son has Celiac and the recipe was perfect for him. The other kids loved it as well.
It goes really well with our homemade Tahini paste.Already made it twice can’t wait to make it again.:)
